We purchased this cable not knowing that Sony provides a shorter cable as a standard accessory for the LCD television we bought. It is approximately twice the length of the supplied cable and is quite a bit thicker, presumably due to heavier shielding. The extra length allows you to sit a comfortable distance from the TV and the image is very sharp. For the low price, we view this as a very worthwhile investment.

I bought an S-video cable from Best Buy first. It was much more expensive than the one available on Amazon. After this one arrived, I reviewed the picture from each cable on my Samsung 1080p HDTV - 61". (Note: I have an old Sony DVD player) I didn't notice a difference in the picture quality. So, I returned the expensive cable to Best Buy for a full refund.

$3.00?!?! Are you kidding me? Buy it. A digital signal is a digital signal is a digital signal whether you get it through a ridiculous "Monster" cable or a cheap one like this. Don't waste your time looking at the expensive stuff.
Expensive cables matter if you are connecting analog signals, but have absolutely no benefit on a digital signal.
