THIS 3745 PRINTER IS GOING ON THREE YEARS AND STILL PUMPING OUT PRETTY COLOR COPIES. IT CLUNKS AND IS VERY NOISY BUT IT WORKS. NOW AND THEN THE PRINTER KIND OF GETS STUCK AND I THINK IT IS TIME FOR A NEW ONE. BUT I JUST UNPLUG IT AND ON IT GOES, SHAKING ITS WAY THROUGH MORE PRINTING AND FINISHING WITH A LOUD BAM. NOT FOR HEAVY OFFICE USE, IT IS A LOVABLE PET OF A PRINTER FOR HOME.

I purchased this printer for my office at work. Once in a while I need to print a single page or two and don't want to bother walking to the other side of the building to pick it up from the shared printer. The printer is small and fits into my desk space well. One thing I like is that the output tray and the input tray are the same, the paper just rolls around through the printer and comes out on top of the input stack which allows for a very low profile unit. Print quality is good. It is not very fast. Its kind of noisy. The input tray holds only about 50 sheets. I already had a spare USB cable but if I hadn't then I would have been irritated that it didn't come with one.

Its fine for my purposes but, similar to most printer marketing models, you can buy the printer for much less than the cost of the replacement ink cartridges. It is basically disposable.

A nice inexpensive printer that prints documents well. Have not tried photos as I do not have that need. The only drawback is that the paper feed system/motor is very noisy compared to other HP printers that I have had.

To Big for a portable printer.......2005-08-24

I purchased this printer for my laptop and to have on the go capability of being able to print out in the field or at job sites. The reviews stated that it was a great printer for a laptop computer. I never opended the box, when I saw its size
I did not hesitate to return it, which was actually a very easy
process. Amazon came through as usual, after pricing around and reading some more reviews, and checking out local retailers I ended up with the Canon Pixma Ip90 which really met my needs. It is in the $200.00 range but well worth the money and exceeded
all my expectations for a mobile printer

Good printer, not so friendly installation .......2005-08-15

Printing quality is good. It's fast when printing on black. Occupies less space than the average home printer. USB cable was not included.
Installing was a really pain. Installing CD could not perform the task. Had to download the drivers from the HP website. Once this was done, everything ran smooth.

Purchased this the last of July, 2005 and have had no problems! The printer prints fast, has great, high quality printing looks. The color prints are even great! I am very pleased with this printer! Evidently I must have received a better printer than some of the other reviewers. For home use this is one fine printer especially for the price. No let down at all for this buyer!

Worst Printer Ever!.......2005-07-07

I have had many printers in my time, but i have to say this is the worst printer i have ever seen!

I actually paid for it aswell!, i could of got a free printer with my computer, but instead i upgraded and got this!

Like many people have said, its:
- always jamming! Every time!
- It wont print in black?
- Extremely hard to get the paper in
- Screw's up all my print out's [that actually print]
- Wont turn off! The green light just keeps on flashing

I dont understand why HP could sell such a rubbish printer? Shame on them!

Avoid this printer.......2005-01-24

This printer is not worth your time and frustration. I received it essentially free--for the nominal price of one Slovenian tolar, or about half a US cent--when I bought a new HP computer. Even at that price, it was not a good value. It jams nearly every time it tries to feed paper, and on the rare occasions it manages to print with no malfunction, the quality is poor. If zero stars were an option, I'd give it zero. I quickly replaced it with a 'real' printer. Look elsewhere.

a nice enough little printer.......2005-01-09

I bought this printer during my freshman year of college, wanting a reasonably cheap printer to avoid having to constantly trek to the library to print papers. While my friends who have bought similar HP models have had problems with them, I've found this printer to be reliable and suitable for my needs. It prints extremely quickly for an inkjet - although it does tend to be rather noisy - and I particularly like the feature which allows me to print on both sides of a page easily. It is also compact, which is always good in a dorm room. While it would not be suitable for someone printing extremely high volumes, I would recommend this printer for students.

HP 3550 DeskJet Printer.......2004-07-25

My former printer was HP's 820C DeskJet, now discontinued. So I wasn't prepared for the noise made by the 3550 or the fact that it's a lot slower. But I was very pleased with how easily it was set up! Print quality is superb for a machine this inexpensive and I've experienced no paper jams. I would have liked a longer power cord and a different location for the transformer but, over-all, it's great value for someone like me looking for reliability in a low cost printer having as few features as possible.
