The viewing field with this product in place is far too wide. You can stand 45 degrees from the monitor and still see the screen. You practically have to be standing at a 90 degree angle from the screen to have it blank out. Most LCD monitors are difficult to read from that angle anyways.

First of all the product does not totally inhibit the ability of someone sitting next to you on an airplane seeing your screen, it just creates a more dark shadow of what's on your screen. Second, if your screen did not have a glare before it will now with this product. Third, there is a distracting notch at the top of the filter so you have this annoying thumb sized area and the filter does not cover. Do not waste you money on this 3M so-called privacy filter.

I'd been looking for a privacy filter but everything I found was almost $200 for the same type of product. This isn't 100% effective (due to the angle of my desk), but it serves its purpose for where my desk is situated, plus you can't beat the price.

Best Privacy Filter to Purchase.......2007-01-09

I searched in local stores for a privacy filter that would fit my LCD monitor at work. This search was unsuccessful so, I almost gave up on the idea of having my monitor filtered away from people leaning over my desk. I went to Amazon and found this 3M Privacy Filter PF17.0 for my 17in LCD Monitor. This was the best purchase for my office since there are no ground wires attached. Now everyone in the office is wanting a filter.

Great product!.......2006-10-04

I ride a bus twice a day and want some privacy there when working on my notebook computer, so I bought this product. It includes sticky tabs to affix the screen to the monitor, and also sticky tabs with little clear non-sticky handles so that you can slide the filter out when you don't need it. I used the ones that allow for easy removal of the filter, since I do not need the privacy screen except for when I'm riding the bus. The filter does somewhat darken the screen to the user, and it also does the job of keeping your screen private from people sitting nearby. I like this product and would recommend it to others.

I hate big laptop bags; they turn my laptop into desktop that I have to move around. This thing is light, provides good protection and looks great! It will not help if you drop laptop on a concrete but I guess it is not a good idea with any bag. I had like this one with my 12" laptop and after near three years it is in pristine condition.

i bought this bag because it was one of the few slim styles that would fit my dell insiron e1705 and not make my meager wallet explode into dust. the construction is clean and of good quality and the styling is very nice. there is a removable sleeve holder for a few cd's or dvd's which is a nice touch. prepare to haul your battery around by hand, though, because this bag is meant for your laptop and that's about all. "slim" ain't no joke.
