After installing the S-Video Cable, the sound on my DVD player deteriorated badly. HOWEVER -- the unit is several years old and S-Video was brand-new at the time. Perhaps, despite an appropriate output, the older unit isn't able to handle the high power of the newer cable?

I was skeptical about any difference between Monster cables and any other brand. I've used s-Video for my DVD/TV hookup as well as my Panasonic Palmcorder to DVD Recorder.
I previously used an RCA brand and a Panasonic cable (a retail cable, not an "included with camcorder" cheapie). I did not notice any a difference in performance upon connecting the Monster cable. I switched back for a few minutes and again noticed no performance change, and no performance increase when reconnecting the Monster cable.
I did not buy the Monster top of the line, but the average THX certified $16.99 Monster cable.
I do not have audiophile type equipment - an average Panasonic TV, a $500 range Panasonic home theater, and a $250 Panasonic DVD player/recorder, so I'm not dealing with hyper senstive equipment that requires ultra-quality cables.
I would recommend these if you need new or additional cables, but I would not buy them just to try and improve your signal, as you probably won't see any improvement. Price wise they are only a little more than other cables and they seem to be good quality.

This is the best s-video cable I've ever used. I'm seeing my movies like never before, it's clear like component. Best of all it's really strong. It's so durable that even after some of the tiny prongs bent after the cable was abused, the metal bent back into place and the picture looks perfect. This Monster cable is definitely not overpriced.

I will be the first to admit that I don't have the best vision in the world and that I need to make an eye appointment with the optometrist. So with that said..... This cable is great and it really does make a difference compared to standard monster RCA plugs. I mean, Star Wars Episode I and II aside, has George Lucas ever steered us wrong before?? Has he?? The answer I'm looking for is No, people. I think that if anyone knows picture quality it would be this guy. I really believe that I can see the difference. Well I am using a $600 progressive scan DVD player, and a $1500 HDTV so that might have something to do with my amazing clarity!! Or maybe I just don't know what the heck I'm talking about.

Good Wire, Bad Clips.......2007-08-08
The wire is fine, pretty heavy gauge. But the clips used are pin clips that with newer equipment are very hard to use. I cut the pin clips off and replaced with banana clips(which match up with most newer, mid to upper end equipment). You would be better off going to a good audio store and getting monster cable in bulk and putting on the banana clips yourself than using this setup. I did use the component plugs, they were fine.

...but I got these off of another site for $15 shipped. So they were worth it. I plugged one of five speakers in just to test it out and you can notice the difference. Not a HUGE difference, but would recommend if you don't already ave speakers and if you can get them for no more than $30 or so. At first I couldn't understand that you put in the metal tip in the clamp on the back of the speaker (probably not technical terms but you get the picture?) but that's how it is. I found them easy to use as I am no professional in home theater hook-up.

I bought this kit from another site for $15. i mainly wanted the speaker plugs for my wires but this price was unbeatable. So the kit comes with 6 pieces of wire 2 rear, 2 front, center, and a subwoofer. It also comes with a subwoofer cable and component cable. The packaging is very child proof. I took some metal scissors to it and took my fingers out of them and shut my hands on them and my scissors actually snapped and a piece flew in the air and hit the ceiling, needless to say i'm glad it flew in front of me.
The wires are pretty thick and seem well made. I'm not sure if i'd pay $100 for this but i'm quite surprised how much cleaner my sound is now, but i contribute that to the plugs on the wires. Before i had some $40 speaker wire from Radio Shack that i cut up and pieced together prettier sloppy.
The wires are also color coded. The FR and RR wires are both a form of red and black. and lefts are blue and black, i think. This way if you upgrade your receiver you automatically know which wire went where. Before i had tape with marker on it identifying the speaker.
The wires are long enough for me, i had to run the rears along the same wall and there was enough length to make one side longer than the other, but i guess that is trivial to your room.
Overall i'm quite pleased but i want to give a 4 cause this price is tooo much. But if i didnt have a component or sub cable already this would be a great incentive, and the plugs give much cleaner sound and the ease of setup due to pre-cut makes it a lot less of a pain to setup. So Overall this is a great package.

Replaced factory wires of my panasonic ht system. The terminals were a very tight fit on the speakers I had to force them. As for sound quality it didnt make a difference on a $250 HT in a box from panasonic. I bought them because they are thick, flexable and easy to work with. A great set to keep around for my next system and beyond.

I bought this item because I believed the other reviewers that it would just "work" but sadly it doesn't do anything like the "don't bother" reviewer says. The frustrating thing is that since it doesn't work there's no trouble-shooting advice, no help line, and no further instructions online.
I know with components that you have to try them several different ways or restart, etc. but after doing all of this multiple times I still get nothing.
The instructions say:
1. Put your iBook to sleep.
2. Plug iTV Link into your TV and your iBook
3. Wake-up your iBook
4. You can now play your iPhoto or iMovie project or DVD on your TV.
As you can imagine- if it works you're pleased. If if doesn't then you're left with nothing. I would have liked some trouble-shooting tips at least.

I just got it today and immediately plugged it in my ibook g4 connected it to my sumsung 42" TV., put my ibook to sleep mode, waked it up.. voila!!!! it works ! now I can watch my favorite TV. programme from my country on my TV. needless to say this product just work....it does what it says and it does good. Thanks monster I'm one happy customer.
Less Than OK Picture Quality.......2005-11-30
I bought this about 3 months ago and I've noticed a terrible picture quality. I've even set up my computer for the resolution, white balance, etc. with my tv, and the color is terrible. It is also extremely pixilated. You could buy a cheap dvd player for the same price with better quality.
Sitting in a hotel, playing a DVD.......2005-10-02
We found ourselves in a hotel, wanting to play dvds on the tv (not the little 12" iBook screen) so everyone could watch. I called every video store nearby to see if we could rent a dvd player, but no luck. So I ordered this cable and it arrived the next day. We opened it, plugged it in, rebooted the ibook, turned on the tv, and popped in a dvd. Voila - instant dvd player! Now if only I'd gotten a remote control for the iBook, we'd have it made! No software was required, no driver, not even the VGA adapter that came with the laptop. The cable worked great, and at 10ft was long enough to position the computer on a nearby table while plugged in. This is very handy as a single cable for porting out sound & video, and is great for showing family slide shows as well watching dvds. On the negative side, for portability on trips it was a bit heavier and bulkier than I would have liked. And as a dvd player, it was distracting that the computer screen duplicated the tv. We ened up turning the iBook away from the tv and closing the lid half way. Make sure you check that this cable is compatible with your laptop model. The Monster Cable website says that it isn't compatible with the iBooks that have the RGB video port. Or something like that.

I just received the cable today and it worked perfectly. The directions said to put the iBook to sleep, plug the cable into the TV and the iBook, awake the iBook.
I ran a DVD, iPhoto and a slide show with new software "Fotomagico", all worked great. Haven't tried iMovie yet, I'm a Fotomagico fan.
I have a new iBook, Apple suggested this cable for TV showing. Shipping turn around was great!

I connected this cable to my 42 inch HD Plasma TV and ran it to a Harman Kardon AVR 240 (which was ranked #1 multi-channel reciever by a consumer magazine) and am impressed with the sound quality. Some will argue that these monster cables are overrrated and over priced, but I've always used them on high end components. If you are going to spend thousands on a home theatre setup, you might as well spend the extra couple bucks and buy the top of the line cables. If it makes even a LITTLE difference, then its worth the 15 or 20 dollars more in my opinion.
Quality company and a great warranty policy as always.
Amazon had the BEST price by far on this item as well.

You people are still thinking in analog terms! The beauty of digital transmission of sound data is that the sound quality will not be partially degraded by cheap cables. Either the data makes it through the cable PERFECTLY, or it doesn't get through at all. Thus, data transmission failures will be very obvious (i.e. if your cable doesn't work you'll hear either no sound or sound that goes off and on like someone was flicking a switch); I assert that anyone who reports slight improvements after purchasing a $30 cable is fooling themselves to justify their consumer folly. There is no reason to pay these exorbitant prices for digital cable! Do what I do: use some spare coaxial TV cable you have lying around (you'll need a screw on adapter at each end to convert the F-type TV connector to RCA-type connector, these cost about $2 each at your local hardware or radio-shack type outlet). Remember, when working with a digital signal, either it gets through perfectly or not at all.

This is for the gentelman from Houston who has been lost in the world of cables and wishes to return the Monster Cable IDL 100 Coaxial digital cable. Do not return it!! As another reviewer suggested, you run the IDL 100 from your Digital receiver (it will not work if your receiver doesn't have a digital coaxial out put) to your dvd player. You connect the end of the IDL 100 with the arrows into your digital coaxial out put in the back of your reciver and the other end of the cable into your dvd player (NOT your TV) This cable is an audio cable NOT a video. The back of your Sony TV is for video connections: component, analog or S video. Read your owners manual or visit Amazon.com, find your tv model, your dvd model and read thechnical information. You will be surprise how easy it is.
Terrific Sound Improvement!!.......2002-05-28
For some time, I had been reluctant to switch to coaxial digital cables. I figured I was getting good sound with the optical cable which I paid [price] for, and why should I spend another [price] for digital coaxial cable. Last week I switched to Monster Cable IDL 100 Interlink Datalink 100 coaxial digital cable and now my optical cable is collecting dust in my garage. The difference in the sound is incredible!!! This Interlink 100 cable eliminated "sound inpurities" and turned it into a much crispier, detailed sound. The bass from the subwoofer is crystal clear and powerful but without the "puffy"/distorted bass. dvd players have both connection options in the back. Some new models have only the digital coaxial option. Buy this Interlink 100 and experience the difference yourself. You will not be sorry you switched. I give this product two thumbs up!!!

I used this to replace a CommScope 75 ohms coax data cable. Good looking, much better flexibility, but only a little bit sound enhancement. Stereo image a little more defined, and no better fequency extension. Perhaps with a better CD player it'll do the trick.

I have been using it for the PS2 for several years and I love it.
Now, I just got the PS3 so I wonder if it is compatible with it.
I do not seem to be able to get a component signal out of this cable in my PS3 so I wonder if it is the cable or it is me just not being able to set it up correctly.

look up the "Monster Cable J2 HCAM SM-6 Hi-8/S-VHS" kit. Although it is titled for camcorders, it has the Super Video 2 (6 ft) and the Interlink 250 (6 ft) for only $5 more. The Interlink 250 are excellent quality RCA cables that by themselves sell for $30. Trust me on this one... I went and looked at the packages to compare.
