Customer Reviews:
Works great with Windows and Mac.......2007-09-22
I've had mine for about a week now, and it's working great. Does exactly what it says... switches smoothly between computers. With Windows, switching is a bit slow because it takes a couple of seconds for Windows to recognize the usb devices each time. It's a lot faster with my Mac... switching is almost instant.
My only complaint is the physical design. When connected to 4 computers, the cables are sticking out all four sides. This makes this huge glob of cables, and makes it almost impossible to set on my desk. It would have been nice if all the cables plugged into one side. For this reason, it gets 4 of 5 stars.
good unit, but could be better.......2007-08-25
This kvm has the advantage that it only needs one single usb port on each of your pc to work. I connected a set of usb mouse and usb keyboard (both microsoft) to the kvm, and all was recognized with no problems. The audio quality is very good. When you switch, there's no beep sound (for me this is good). Also this kit doesn't need ac power adapter, however, there are some disadvantages that can be a deal-breaker for some. It inclues:
-if you have one linux box, the hotkey doesn't work and you need to push the button on the kvm to switch between machines. No big deal.
-when you switch, there is a delay, ie. you can't use immediately the keyboard and mouse, I guess that is because they need to draw power from usb port. This delay is about 5 secs long. I'm used to it now.
-on my windows vista box, I have installed a winxp virtual machine, and when I'm starting this virtual machine, the kvm switch automatically to the next pc connected. The same happens if I'm on Vista and focus back to the vmware window with xp. This is very annoying and the reason I give it 4 stars, because I use virtualisation all the time.
To sum up, this is a good solid and reliable unit, and supports usb devices, very popular nowadays. The price can't be beaten, so if you don't mind the little cons, this may be for you.

The Master-IT USB KVM switches serve as KVM/USB hub units allowing users to connect different computers and share peripherals. The main feature of the Master-IT USB KVM switches is their cross-platform compatibility. Besides connecting both Windows and Mac OS systems, users can take advantage of the Plug and Play simplicity of USB standard.

Great KVM and how to test your systems for compatibility.......2007-09-11
This is my second KVM from Connectpro. My first one (a two port) worked reliably every day for over 4 years. I only replaced the 2 port Connectpro with this 4 port one because I needed to handle more than 2 computers.
This Connectpro switches between 3 Dell computers. A 2400 running XP, a 8200 running XP, and a 351 running Vista.
Keyboard, monitor and mouse switch in LESS THAN A SECOND
HOW TO FIND OUT IF THIS SWITCH WILL WORK FOR YOU: There is NO mystery here. Simply disconnect and reconnect your USB mouse and USB keyboard while your computers are running and see what happens. Try booting your computer without the mouse and keyboard connected. You have then perfectly simulated this switch.
On a technical note: my new Dell Inspiron 531 with Vista refused to fully boot without the keyboard connected and generated an error message saying that. One simple change in the bios - "don't halt on error from keyboard" eliminated that minor problem. Even without that change, the system would boot once I had selected that system on the switch.
Finally this device is USB 2.0 compliant and not 1.1. The manual is outdated. I confirmed this with Connectpro's tech support (who answer their phone on the first ring and speak real English). I also verified this by using the device on these three systems and confirming, via the device manager, that it was recognized as 2.0 compliant.
The only thing lacking is the ability to switch the audio between multiple systems to a single set of speakers.
If you are unhappy with this unit you have not done the tests I've recommended.
The unit ships with 4 video cables and 4 USB cables - all of which seem high quality.
This thing just doesn't work.......2007-08-18
this is one of 2 4-port KVM switches I bought. Neither one worked very well at all. I finally just unhooked it and threw it back into a box with the linksys.
Oh, why did I buy 2? Because the first one didn't work so I bought another. When that one didn't work I figured out a way to use the 2 port KVM switch I started with.
Works like a charm.......2007-05-29
No issues, plugged it in and solved my problems (well, at least that one) immediately.
Finally found one I loved........2007-05-17
This is my 4th or 5th KVM in 8 years and the only one that has worked beautifully. It is fully USB, responsive, has high quality cables, (4 sets!), and sits firmly on my glass-top desk.
Its also pretty uncommon for something to come in a metal case these days, but for something like this, it is a necessity in that it provides the extra heft and durability for something that you're going to be jabbing your fingers at several times a day.
It comes with an AC adapter, but I found that it works fine without it, as it gets plenty of power from the attached machines.
Best USB KVM Ever! Tried multiple products.......2007-03-05
This is by far the best USB KVM on the market. I have tried IOGear, Belkin, and other kvms and this one shines. Every other one I tried had difficulty with special keys on my USB keyboard and working with extra mouse buttons. I thought how hard could it be to design a product that would work, all it has to do is pass through the information. The unit itself is solid and the quality shows. It's a little pricey; but, it's worth it. One thing to note too if you are researching KVMs that I have found out is that any KVM that does hot-key switching will definitely have problems with special keyboard keys and extra mouse buttons. Since those KVMs use emulation there will definitely be issues. It's not that much of a pain to push the button to switch over.

Customer Reviews:
Can't get it to see my keyboard or mouse!.......2007-09-13
I got this one. Was not sure it came with the cords from Amazon. So I got it some place else that for sure said it came with the cords.
I got it hooked it up to 2 PC's. Just could not get the mouse or keyboard to work! I can get the keyboard to work in the BIOS but that's it. I even tested 4 other keyboards on it and 2 other mouse. It just will not see it.
I wish they told me a way to reset this KVM. I called Trendnet. They will only call you back and I missed there call but they left there number. I called back and they put me on hold but could not get a person soon to take to me so will call me back again. Takes a day for them to call you back.
I put a USB keyboard and mouse on and it installed the drivers and worked. But not though the KVM! It's the TK-408.
Looks nice and the cords are nice. They just have the Audio and mic on one end of the cords The other end just the 15 pin plug. The out put has audio and mic. Number 1 and 2 inputs are on one side, the output on the other side, and on both ends are the 3 and 4 inputs.
The video and sound work real good. The video looks very good. I can't tell it's going though the KVM switch.
I hope they call me back so it works. It just will not see my keyboards or mouse!
Missed the called back 2 times. So I called them back and after about 20 min. Talked to a person. He said try some other cable and ports. I did but on the same computer one with a Intel D945GCCR mother board it will not see the keyboard or mouse! The keyboard can still use the HOT keys and get in the BIOS but nothing in Windows. He said use other ports too and I did but it did not help. I did a reset too. ScrLk + ScrLK + end but it did not help. I did that wile in the BIOS too. In the BIOS the hot keys will switch between computers too. It just will not work on the one computer and any port or any cord I use.
Only thing I can think of is use some USB to PS2 or maybe a BIOS update on the mother board.
The person on the phone said you can't find the truble with this. The only thing to do is replace it. I don't think any things wrong with it when it works with the other 2 PC's I have it hooked up to and one is Linux.

Almost perfect.......2007-08-23
This unit is unusual in it's use of proprietary cabling, however, the cables make much more sense and make for a much cleaner installation than the "standard" cabling used by other manufacturers. The only crazy thing is that the placement of the connectors on the unit itself which are two along one long side and one on each short side which could make installation in some situation less than ideal. For my needs it was a non-issue and the device works flawlessly in every way.
Best KVM +audio Yet!.......2007-01-11
I've been using a switch-gizmo to share a mouse, keyboard and video display between boxes for six or seven years. This four-port unit replaced a two-port unit with audio support by another manufacturer. What an improvement! This one gets it's power from the keyboard and is small. It fits on the corner of the desk. Best, I no longer lose connectivity when turning off one box and switching to another, requiring a reboot. And, all the cords are included, making this very economical.
Product Description
A faster way to connect! Once again, IOGEAR raised the bar on quality KVMs. These desktop PS/2 KVMs feature the latest in micro-design and technology. Setup is fast and easy; simply plug cables into their appropriate ports. The 2 PS/2 console ports are on the front of the unit for easy and convenient access. IOGEAR's MiniView SE GCS84B provides two convenient methods to access the connected computers: use push-button selection switches, located on the unit's front panel; or type Hot Key combinations from the keyboard. There is no better way to save time and money than with IOGEAR's MiniView SE GCS84B.
Customer Reviews:
Good but not Perfect.......2007-02-06
Everyone's raving about this KVM, and compared to a lot of the cheap, home-use KVMs out there, the IOGear BCS84B is definitely very nice. It's a solid piece of equipment, switching from one machine to another is very fast and simple, and the 4 cables are nice indeed.
However, I do have a few issues with this device. First of all, placing the keyboard and mouse inputs on the front of the device was an idiosyncratic decision to say the least. Computer users long ago learned to route all cables under and around things. For me, this front mounting of keyboard and mouse connections means I've got cables coming out from behind my desk and hanging along the side in an ugly and annoying way.
The larger issue I'm having, however, is getting the KVM to work with the new Dell Desktop I bought. The new desktop does not have PS/2 connections, but this is no problem because I've got some adapters that work just fine, so long as I plug the keyboard and mouse directly into the desktop. However, if I do run the keyboard and mouse into the KVM and then run the KVM cable through the adapters and then into the Dell, Windows doesn't recognize the devices!
This is a major limitation as many new desktop computers no longer have PS/2 connections.
A very good KVM switch.......2007-01-04
This is the first KVM that I have used and it has performed flawlessly.
* BUY IT.......2006-11-05
Tired of being lied to about operating systems that can "multitask"? Get this and get some serious work done. Put up to four computer boxes next to your current KeyVidMouse setup. Put this 4-port KVM switch + a 4-port router and a hi-speed Internet connection and you are cookin'! It's so simple and effective it almost brings tears to my eyes.
You could take a few of these babies and a load of computers and make a nice server farm, all before breakfast!
Seriously, I love this thing, it only costs $100, and it doesn't need it's own power, it looks good, blah blah blah.
It worked for me.......2006-10-31
I usually only read reviews but never write any myself, but this time, I thought it would be necessary to let people know what my experience was with this product since there seems to be a lot of problems that people experience regardless of what brand or model of KVM switch they pick. Well for me, this nice looking, surprisingly compact KVM switcher worked just fine. I only have two CPUs connected to it right now, but I was worried before I bought this thing that I might have some trouble getting it to work because I need it to work with one standard PC and one server. Well it works just fine and I have it hooked up to one standard PC running Windows XP and it is also running fine with my server which is running Windows Storage Server 2003. Relief.
Works great but not with wireless KB and mouse.......2006-08-18
No problems with corded KB and mouse attached. Tried using wireless and it initially works but then freezes requiring the whole thing to be reset. I like that the unit comes with cables. Switching between computers is as simple as tapping the Ctrl key twice. It's great.

Works Great.......2007-03-16
I use this for 3 computers and leave the 4th wire empty for the occasional repair work I do for relatives and friends. It works great for me. I wish it had some mounting system so I could hang it on a wall, but it's no problem to sit it beside the machines either...
No outside power is required, it draws straight from the ps2 port.
I'd definitely recommend it.

Waste of time and money.......2007-08-31
This switch does not properly scan ports, your lucky if you get half the pc's working the other half need to be rebooted to be detected each time you switch to them... same with PS2 version - Junk
Quite unhappy with switching performance; not recommended.......2006-08-26
Although I have read the reviews written here a priori, I bought the item as I was in desperate need of a 4-port USB KVM in my house, and Omniview looked cute and compact for that purpose. But then I started experiencing most of the problems stated in the reviews. Duh!
- I feel extremely anxious when switching from one computer to another, since most of the time the mouse simply does not function in target computer! This is extremely discomforting and I have to reboot that machine to get it working (I tried switching back and forth at no avail).
- Time to time, while using the keyboard, the last key sticks as if you keep pushing it. One time I was cleaning up my inbox, deleting the unwanted emails. And then all of a sudden the 'DEL' key got stuck and it flushed the whole inbox! Gee, I had to scour through my Deleted Items folder to recover them back...
- No cables included! I had to buy all the cables myself. What a waste of money...
I am giving the two stars for the pleasing looks and design. Functionality-wise it is worse than unsatisfactory. I don't recommend you buying this product now that there are better alternatives I believe. I had a very satisfying experience with Iogear 2 Port Compact USB KVM Switch (GCS632U) earlier.
It works ... barely!!.......2005-03-20
This produce is in desperate need of firmware updates.
First off, when you go to update you have to first run an early update that allows your computer to run the updates. Which isnt documented well.
Second, and BIGGEST!! I am running a microsoft wireless keyboard / mouse combo. Which only has 1 USB! Which you have to plug into the mouse port to make it work. If you plug it into the keyboard port then your mouse wont work. Now the problem is, if oyur keyboard ISNT in the keyboard port then you cant do the hot switching.
So ... basically for what i want it is annoying. I can have my wireless keyboard mouse ... but now i have to go to the kvm (which doesnt sit close to me) to switch computers.
Grrr .... i think what annoys me the most is you'd THINK this would be an easy firmware upgarade
Super Rip-Off!.......2004-12-03
I'm evaluating the DVI version. The cables are sold seperately, so what's the point to buy a KVM without cables?!? This is just way to costly compared to other KVMs out there. I'm in agreement with another reviewer, let's wait until there's more mature DVI versions out there.
Lastly, hearing the problems doesn't surprise me, as working with the two port version, I had some problems where computers becames unresponsive.
Just a warning from an experience with the DVI version.......2004-07-04
I'm extremely unhappy with the Belkin OmniView SOHO Series 4-Port KVM DVI Switch with Audio. I'm sure most of this applies for the VGA version
1) It is nearly impossible to connect a cable to the console DVI Connector. Belkin had to overnight a special extender to connect the monitor DVI cable to the KVM.
2) Connecting the Power Adapter to the KVM blocks one of the peripheral USB ports.
3) It's absolutely impossible to put on the cover (i.e. cable management cover) if you connect the four (Belkin) cables to it.
4) Connecting only two PCs with a resolution of 1600x1200 to the KVM resulted in green shadows for one connection. (both NVidia cards GeForce 4 (4200 series) and a Geforce 5 (5200 series)
5) The Microsoft Wireless Keyboard doesn't work as stated in the manual. I did manage to plug in the wireless dongle connector to the USB mouse port on the KVM but now I can't use the hotkeys to switch between computers. Belkin has also indicated that wireless keyboards don't always work as stated in the manual
6) There isn't a FAQ or software/firmware upgrade listed for this device. I would recommend checking out the belkin support pages or lack there of.

Product Features:
- Audio Ports: Audio Out
- Audio Ports: Microphone
- Console Connections: 1
- Computer Connections: 4
- Keyboard Port Type: USB
ASIN: B000PH5MFQ |
Product Description
IOGEAR DVI KVMP Switch GCS1764 with a Keyboard and Mouse charts a revolutionary new direction in KVM switch functionality by providing an interface for todays digital monitors while integrating a 4-port USB KVM switch with USB peripheral sharing capabilities. As a KVM switch the unit allows the user to access four computers from a single USB keyboard USB mouse and monitor and also share among the computers peripherals such as external hard drives printers and scanners. The GCS1764s independent (asynchronous) switching feature allows the KVM focus to be on one computer while the USB peripheral focus is on another. The user can switch from one computer to another without interrupting print jobs downloads or other functions being handled by connected peripherals. This eliminates the need to purchase a separate USB hub as well as the need to purchase separate stand-alone peripheral sharers - such as printer servers modem splitters etc. The GCS1764 further improves on previous designs with DVI (Digital Video Interface) connectors and the transfer of keyboard and mouse data to the computers via a fast reliable USB connection. DVI supports both digital input (flat panel displays data projectors plasma displays digital TVs and set-top boxes) and analog video input (traditional monitors and TVs).
