Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Easy.......2007-09-18

I had alot of problems with remotes working with all of my electronics in this past... this did no problem. Very easy to program. Got it set up in less then ten minutes. Fits pretty good in hand.... Not perfect but good. buttons aren't easy to see in dim light. But you aren't going to do better for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Great for Tivo Users.......2007-09-14

I bought this remote because it was the most similar to the Tivo remote I have. It's great for Tivo and I also use it for my DVD player. You do have to get a little creative with some of the buttons (Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, Subtitles for DVD, etc.). High quality product, definitely recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Finally a remote that does it all .....I MEAN ALL !!!.......2007-08-20

I had no idea what a Learning Remote was, but 5 minutes into reading the manual, I had a very good idea on how to program this remote to 4 of my devices. There was always those few keys that would just not match any universal remote you would get. But then this device I just programmed all keys I have used till date from 4 remote controls in about 15 - 20 min.
I highly recommend this product.....no more clutter with remote controls...

5 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah!.......2007-07-17

This remote has it all! Ergonomic design, easy to use, wide range of product support, upgradeable, macro functions... you name it... And, of course, to top all that off.. it's cheap!!!

Even when I recently bought a new TV brand that is new to the market, I contacted customer support and they immediately sent back the code I should use for the remote. I couldn't believe it!

I can't say enough about this remote. For certain, I will definitely stick to One-For-All for my remote needs in future.

5 out of 5 stars Great Remote ever!.......2007-07-03

This is the one!
It is simple, and works great!
In about 10min. I could make this remote to work just like my old remote.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great price, works as described...only one small complaint.......2007-09-19

Cheap, works, retains the programming codes so you don't have to re-enter them a lot.

Only thing I don't like is the shift button. You have to use it for several things when controlling the DVD player, and it doesn't have a light up button or anything, so you never know if "shift" is currently selected or not. This matters when you press a button and it performs its alternate function rather than the one you intended. A light-up button indicating "shift" is activated would have been great.

Other than that, it all works. It's nice to have a remote that DOESN'T have 300 buttons. This one is simple enough to use...I control an ancient Sharp VCR, a Sony flatscreen TV, and a new Philips DVD player without any problems. Codes were simple and all worked fine. Best couple of bucks you can spend!

I would give it a 4 if it cost $30, but because of the incredible bargain and only a small complaint, I have to give this product 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR TIRED EYES OR LOW LIGHT.......2007-08-31

THIS IS JUST GREAT! I CAN SEE EVERY BUTTON WITH OUT MY BIFOCALS! VERY EASY TO OPERATE AND MEMORIZE...

5 out of 5 stars great remote.......2007-05-07

This remote is as advertised-very easy to use -great not having to use separate remotes for one activity-

4 out of 5 stars Simple to Operate, Easy to Read.......2007-02-09

Bought this for my elderly father, who has trouble seeing and lacks dexterity to push small buttons. This is not a dazzling, sophisticated remote, but it is perfect for users such as my dad, or those who don't care about all of the "bells and whistles". The layout is logical and easy to figure out. It seems to have truly "universal" compatibility. As shown in the photo, the channel number buttons are actually shaped like numbers! What a refreshing difference from most remotes that have groups of tiny, difficult to push buttons with small numbers printed on them which rub off with wear! In the case of this remote, simple is good!

PS The only criticism I have is that the buttons do not light up. Otherwise, I would have rated a perfect "5"

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars one small glitch in instructions, otherwise PERFECT!.......2007-08-15

This is what I have been looking for! My TV and DishNetwork sat receiver BOTH came with crappy remotes. The TV remote needs to be less than a foot from the TV to work. This does all of the sat receiver functions and the commonly used ones for the brand "Z" TV. One word of caution: the instructions for "learning" the old remote aren't clear. When you press the button to be programmed on the One for All remote, the LED lights for 5 seconds. The instructions don't warn you that the button on the old remote must be pressed DURING that 5 seconds.
Ergonomics are excellent. Although the buttons are small and appear to be close together, my arthritic hands have no problem with hitting the wrong buttons as they did with the Dish remote.
Part 2: I just added a Panasonic DVD recorder, again with a poor remote that doesn't work well. This One-For-All saved the day again! Positively BRILLIANT engineering! Something that is lacking in most of today's electronics.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Remote - Good Value.......2007-07-28

This is an excellent remote and they have a ton of codes. And it will learn a bunch of items. They also allow you to send it in to add a new code that they may have that is not in the list. Hence the reason for 4 out of 5 stars. The URC-8910 allows you to download the code over the phone...but this model you have to mail to them to add. But still the One For All's that are learning are the best in the business... I tried Harmony / Universal Remote brand and a few others...but One For All is a great company for support...I highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to Use Learning Feature.......2007-06-17

I bought this after I got fed up with the reomte that came with my Viewsonic Nextvision N6. This remote replaced the N6 remote and a Universal R5 remmote with bad learning functions. The One For All 6-Device learning remote worked great and only took about 15 minutes to get it set up. It's a great bargin.

5 out of 5 stars Easy to use, good price........2007-06-08

This was a very inexpensive product that was easy to program and use. No more remote clutter!

The booklet includes hundreds of codes for devices from every major manufacturer, and if a code isn't there, you can program the buttons manually using the "learn" feature.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent learning remote at a great price!.......2007-05-25

Was tempted to buy a Philips, Sony or some other more famous brands, but decided to give One4All a try. And I'm happy to say I didn't regret my decision. Aside from the built-in device codes, I use this extensively for learning. And this model supports between 50-70 learning commands, far more that some others that I have tested before. All in all, worth every penny!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars an excellent remote.......2007-07-06

an excellent remote with a powerful memory capacity. Very flexible and programmable. Also, the IR signal itself is very strong compared to a standard remote supplied with a component. I have tried various "universal" remotes and this is the best one I have used.

3 out of 5 stars Not the Right Remote for Me.......2007-07-05

I have a Olevia 542i TV and Polaroid DRM-2001G PVR. A few of the buttons refused to accept programming. A couple of button could only be programmed when they were the first ones to get programmed in a session, i.e. if I want to program (memorize) five buttons, I have to do the problem one first. Maybe something's wrong with my sample...but I didn't want to put more time in it than I already did so didn't bother trying to get it replaced.

I chose this model over the 8 Device model (URC8820 ?) because it has a few extra buttons. In hind sight the 8 Device would have been better because it's a more convenient size, and it takes two AA batteries instead of four AAA.

I lived with it for a while until a good deal came up for a Harmony 659 at $50. The Harmony is not for everyone, and it did take hours to tweak it just right, but it's what I needed for my setup.

4 out of 5 stars A lot of options.......2007-03-14

I purchased this remote to replace a broken tv/dvd/vcr combo remote. Before buying it I checked specs of several brands and types to see if they could be programmed for my combo. This was the only one that definitely could. It has worked well...a couple features are not available but I expect that with any replacement control. I've also programmed it to my bose radio and my dish network box and the controls have worked just fine. Now my coffee table is a lot less cluttered.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great remote!!! Better than Harmony!!!.......2006-12-19

This is a wonderful remote that you can get to function exactly as you want it to. It learns any key you want and if a device isn't in the codes, the company will search for a code or capture the code from the original remote.

I bought a harmony remote and this one shortly after. The harmony had to be tweeked several times and never quite worked all the components right. Also the company monitors and saves all your information. The Harmony's buttons at first were hyper sensitive then they wouldn't respond at all. I had to replace the harmony (under warranty) because the screen went out. The second, although the screen hasn't gone out, has the same problems, it turns off my TV when I try to switch from DVD to TiVo yet it doesn't the other way (makes no sense), to be fair my TV wasn't in the data base so I still had to use the original remote and point it at the harmony to set it up. It constantly got the inputs wrong, I tried several different methods, all but call the company (I hear they have great customer support), but finally I would change the inputs manually. It doesn't give you that choice at first. It was a lot of computer to TV- computer to TV time. This remote, the One for All, is so much better.

The One 4 All remotes are cheaper and the same quality if not better (no screen to go out) than the hamony. All for Ones customer support will search for new codes and capture your code if they can't find it to upgrade immediately.

With the harmony you didn't have the option of picking one of the seldomly used keys and reassigning a function that I use frequently (zoom of the TV or Live TV for Tivo) they decide for you which functions are the frequent and main keys and which you will have to scroll for. On my remote it was the Live TV and the input for SV I used frequently so on the ONE 4 ALL I could assign any key I wanted to do that function.

You can program any key you want to do what you want. You want to control the fan in the room, the space heater or a/c, whatever has a remote as long as it isn't Radio Frequency, most are remotes are IR. If you want RF also you can get the One for All URC 9910 and then you can send signals through the walls and change the channels from other rooms in the house. Want your Tivo to control two different TV in different rooms of your house, its RF to IR converter would do that. Personally I only need the IR remote part so this remote, here at amazon under $20 today, is the best. The One for All Learning Upgradeble Remotes 6 Device, 8 Device and 10 has literally taken the place of all of my old remotes. I use ONE remote for all the devices in my house with remotes. I have bought extra remotes of this brand to have at my couch, my bedroom, my computer. I have bought these remotes as presents for family at this point.

They are great remotes.

4 out of 5 stars A good remote for the money.......2006-03-26

This remote has a lot of capability for the price. When building my home theater I was looking for a remote that could handle my TV, A/V receiver, VCR/DVD combo, Cable box/DVR combo. This remote was much cheaper than the Harmony (would have loved one of those) and could handle these devices as well as others. I am still tweaking the macro's but I am off to a good start.

Pros: Works with combo devices, macro and learning capability, price
Cons: Still have to use individual device's remotes to perform certain functions (maybe i just need more practice)

4 out of 5 stars Battery eater no more.... After the warranty was up.......2007-07-27

I opened it up. I read at a hack site about the vibe sensor tied to little bb's in a 1 inch x .25 inch little silver colored box. I carefully pried it open from the one side where it is is black plastic and out popped two little bb's. I removed them and reassmebled the little box and the unit and now the lights only go on when I hit a button. They stay on for about 5 seconds and a few of the buttons are a little darker now, but I don't care. Battery life is a lot longer now and the unit works like a champ. Can't do anything about the tactile feel, but it's ok, I'm used to it now.

4 out of 5 stars It works! Instructions are actually useful - not regular "stereo" instructions........2007-07-23

Finally, a universal remote that actually can control everything. It controls all components of my home theater system: Onkyo receiver, Hitachi widescreen, DirecTV DVR, and Denon DVD/CD player. Having purchased other $100-$200 dollar remotes that didn't actually control more than 2 components, it was really refreshing to find one that works.

    PROS:
    1) It works.
    2) Instructions are understandable to normal people. I programmed keys for macros to turn on all the home theater at once, and to switch the video output from DirecTV to watch movies. Programming a macro key will save you from going through many steps.
    3) If the batteries are running low the remote tells you by blinking, will do what you want and immediately shut off to conserve power. Don't have to wait until it stops working to go find those batteries.

    CONS:
    1) Battery eater. Goes through a set every 6-8 weeks. Rechargeables are a good idea.
    2) Vibration is sensitive. Walking past the table it is sitting on will turn it on.
    3) Because the keys are not raised it is difficult to control what button you're pushing if you have larger fingers. Just for some of the buttons close together like "channel down" and "last channel." (Hearsay from my husband - I don't have any problems),

Overall, an excellent value. Patience with the initial programming will pay off in that you can put away the pile of remotes.

    4 out of 5 stars Kameleon 8 Review.......2007-06-08

Some difficulty with the program for Yamaha home theater recievers, other wise works as advertised. Lots of capability & flexibility. Good instruction manual.

2 out of 5 stars Two words: Rechargeable Batteries.......2007-04-28

    Pros:
--The only reason I am giving this product
2 stars is for it's stamina. We've had
it for two years and it is still funtioning.

    Cons:
--It is motion sensitive and EVERYTHING sets if off.
You walk around, your cat walks around, you bump the
table, you sit on the couch: the remote lights up.
We changed batteries in this thing at least once a week.
--As someone else mentioned, the buttons are not raised.
I may be spoiled, but if I pay $100 for something, I
shouldn't have to look down at the remote everytime I
need to change the channel or volume.
--It wears easily. Ours still functions, but the keys are
worn down and showing black underneath. Which may be a
product of 2 years worth of use, but if the buttoms were
raised, this may not have been an issue in the first place.
--It is too complex for my taste. My spouse set it up so that
the macros could be pressed to activate multiple devices for a
certain activity, but turning it, for example, from game to TV
mode, requires multiple steps instead of one simple click.

1 out of 5 stars Use ANYTHING other than this remote........2007-04-13

As others have suggested, the concept of this remote is a good one: Only show the buttons needed to control that particular device, and only show them when you're actually using the device. Sounds good, right? Too bad it doesn't really work so well in practice.

In fairness, I have to point out the good things first. The buttons are well-lit and easy to understand. When the remote DOES work (more on that later) it works very well. It doesn't suck up batteries like some other devices I've had. It's fairly comfortable in the hand and quite easy to program; it will even learn codes for devices that it doesn't already know about. The back has a nice rubbery grippy feel to it, and because the surface has no physical buttons it's very easy to keep clean.

That about wraps up the good stuff. How bad is this remote? Let me tell you about my experiences with it. The first one I bought was DOA, and Amazon replaced it. The second one worked for a month before dying. Amazon replaced that one too. The third one worked for a shade over two months -- and that's when I ran into my first problem: THIS REMOTE HAS A TRULY PATHETIC 90 DAY WARRANTY, and THE WARRANTY STARTS AT THE MOMENT OF PURCHASE EVEN IF IT WAS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE. So even though I believed I was paying fifty bucks for a remote, I was actually buying an expensive piece of useless plastic.

The manufacturer's customer support is HORRIBLE. They are based in Hong Kong and have no offices here; their only distributor is based in Kentucky and they list no phone number to contact them. (Some Googling will reveal the number, however.) If you DO manage to contact them via phone, you will be greeted with the World's Most Irritated Employees -- or at least that's what they sound like. They will tell you in no uncertain terms that you shouldn't be calling them for technical support on an out-of-warranty product, and you'll be stonewalled.

They do offer email support, but unfortunately their email support 'team' only seems to work every third day and NEVER reads the entire email that you send to them, often asking you for information that you've already provided (in fact, information that they've even quoted in their reply). And that's assuming that they even respond at all. I've waited as long as two weeks (sending my email every other day) for a single response, which ultimately was completely useless and irrelevant to my situation.

The manufacturer's web site claims that, quote, "Our 'Number 1' status Worldwide reflects our commitment to excellence." In my experience, 'number 1' is just about the only thing I'd like to do to this remote and the company that makes it. If Amazon would have let me I would have given this product a "-27 stars" rating. I would rather have a hot lead enema than buy another One For All product.

    3 out of 5 stars Great remote.......2007-07-26

This vendor does a great job of swift delivery. This remote is easy to set up and works well BUT I would advise against it for a Sharp TV. After using it awhile it would wipe out the preset channels from 20 through 80. I have no clue as to how it would do this. I would have to go through the channel setup again. A few hours/days later it would do it again. I stopped using this channel change and the problem went away, Go figure. This vendor does a great job of swift delivery.

5 out of 5 stars ONE FOR ALL URC 9910 - So far one of the best universal remotes i have purchased!.......2007-09-24

ONE FOR ALL URC 9910 - So far one of the best universal remotes I have purchased! I am on my 4th one, but it was my fault (liquid accidently got spilled on the others - but I liked the remote so much I keep buying them, also one for all help line is VERY HELPFUL and documents the calls so if you have a problem in the future they have it all typed out and tell it to you setp by step) I really like the remote, although the RF doesnt always work the best through windows, I have had bonfires out back (maybe 20' from my stereo) and I can not always change channels, volume, cd's, ect.

1 out of 5 stars RF function does not work well.......2007-09-24

I recently purchased the URC 9910 (RF model) to replace a URC8910 (non-RF model) because I moved some electronics equipment into a closet. The RF feature seemed ideal and since both models had the same keypad layout, and there was no "user" re-learning of keys. The remotes from the outside look almost identical.

Unfortunately the RF feature is marginal at best. The URC9910 goes through new set Duracell alkalines once per week before the RF control starts failing. Although the battery indicator on the display does not come on, the remote behaves as though the batteries are nearly dead for the RF communication. The IR works just fine. As a comparision, my URC8910 would require battery changes about once per 6 months. That's expected becase I use the backlight a lot on the URC8910.

Distance from the remote to base is about 15' through a hollow wooden door. No metal vents, wires, or pipes are in the way. Since the remote RF works fine for about week then stops, all I can assume is that the remote is defective and quickly drains batteries. A fresh set of batteries will fix the lack of RF communcation but I can count on installing more batteries within a week.

I checked One For All's warranty and it's 90 days and the remote must be returned to the seller. The manufacturer does not accept their own warranty returns. The URC 8910 (non-RF model) works well, the URC 9910 RF model (this one) does not. You will pay for this remote many times over with batteries.

      3 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings.......2007-09-22

The remote (overall seems to work). It was difficult to find codes to work my amplifier, however, the amp is 20 years old (backup amp for whole house system). One for All did respond rapidly, happily and succinctly to my problem. After code uploads (via phone and computer - very easy) were executed the 12th code did operate my system (in the majority). But ... I specifically wanted the remote for the RF capability. I could only get the RF remote to work well at 15 feet and intermittently at 20 feet. I really needed at least 50 feet (I used new batteries and changed the position of the receiver). It is possible my home has too much interference and it does have metal studs in the walls. So the upshot is I returned the remote.

5 out of 5 stars Great litttle remote..so easy to program and use.......2007-08-31

I purchased this remote for my basement. I have a Home Theater room and have two other flat panels-one in the bar area and the other one in the exercise room. When planning the basement, I ran the coax cable from the hub to the theater room. For these two flat panels, I ran the coax from the theater room thinking that I will be able to just use one cable box. I was able to do so without a problem but the remote became an issue due to the range.

I purchased URC 9910 and for less than $40, I am able to turn the cable box ON, change channels while I am excersing or having a drink at my home bar.

Setting it up took less than 10 minutes.

      I highly recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars The "One for All URC 8910" is the Best Remote by far of any .......2007-09-24

I bought 1 of these and liked it so much I bought 2 more. The big thing about this remote is if you have any new component(tv,etc.) you call the remote manufacturer on phone and they'll send you the new codes directly into the remote over the phone line. You can teach the remote to learn buttons you select from your old remote(s). I have each of my three set up the same. I can use any of these remotes in any of 2 bedrooms and 1 livingroom. That includes a rdr-vcr, dvd-vcr, 3 differant tv's, vcr, and onkyo home theater. Not too hard to understand with directions either. I guess that's all exept the price makes this the best deal in electronics.
ps. the only problem I had is some employee sent me the wrong code so I got another to send all sony's codes into my remote. trial and error came up with right one. The company had the right code one guy just didn't know it. You alway's get one. I don't do many reviews but this device deserves the best. Dutch

1 out of 5 stars Lousy Product as the Price Would Suggest.......2007-09-23

Got this item a while back and unfortunately started to use it later than I could return it. Nice design, but be wary of macro keys. I assigned an easy "power off" stream (to turn on and off all components at once) and it re-ordered all the main keys. When I tried to reset to factory specifications, it wouldn't allow it. I am fairly tech savvy and recognized a lemon fast when I couldn't get it back to normal with almost an hour of frustration and trying. Some here have had good luck, so I suspect if you get one that works perhaps you'll have find it a better product. Didn't expect much for $25 and didn't get much - if anyone wants a free one, there's one in my trash.

5 out of 5 stars Best remote going........2007-09-08

The URC 8910 was purchased specifically for its ability to be programmed. I needed a universal remote which would control a Olevia flat screen TV. Per online reviews, it appeared that no universal remote was capable of controlling the Olevia. After checking with One-For-All customer support, I purchased this remote. Code updates are available via over-the-telephone programming. When the Olevia control codes were downloaded by One-For-All customer support, the remote worked perfectly. I was also able to program in my Samsung made TiVO and RCA surround sound system. The remote has a "home theater button which allows you to control most things typically used without having to select different components. For instance, with the home theater setting, channels are changed on my DirecTv box, and sound volume is changed on the surround sound system. A one button macro button allows the TV, surround sound system, and DirecTv box to be turned on and off with one press. A great remote!

4 out of 5 stars Mother of all reviews - Remote with an almost imposible A/V setup to program........2007-09-08

First let me just say that this one for all remote only got 4 stars because there are so few learning keys you can program into memory, before the memory runs out.(i think its only 15 keys total) otherwise i would of rated this the best rating possible.
OK. Usually people program remotes for a DVD player, TV and some sort of set top box, with maybe a VCR player too. Me i have a TV, VCR/DVD player combo. brand new model of a verizon digital cable/DVR box by motorola, and a 3 year old Yahama surround sound receiver. this yahama has separate remote buttons for power off and power on. so power wont turn it off and/or on. The cable box that was also a DVR and brand new model at that, made it hard to find a universal remote that worked. so the DVD/VCR, yamaha, and cable box all needed new codes. so i called got a new code for the DVD/vcr, right then, and had new codes downloaded into the remote for the cable box and yamaha. After about 10 minutes of using my actual device's remotes to teach the one for all some keys that were still needed or just not working right. then locking the volume to only control yamaha surround sound volume. i truly have one remote for all my devices. (i have no memory left in the remote to program any more learning keys), but... i didn't think it was possible with a remote for under $20 on amazon, and under $25 in a store. I actually expected to break down and buy one of those $$$$ logitech wonder remotes. if your frustrated with all your remotes sitting on the coffee table because you cant find a universal remote to work with ALL your devices, and will not spend a fortune on an expensive remote that may do the job. buy the One-For-All 8910! you will be satisfied.

5 out of 5 stars Bulky but powerful.......2007-09-06

This is a substantial remote - not light. But it has codes for every AV equipment. If you are not able to find a perfect match call the tech support. I found them to be very responsive. The coolest thing is how they update this unit. They send you a sound file that you play with the remote held close to the speaker and it gets updated!!.
And it is JP1 capable just open the battery lid and peer in you will see the pins.
