Great for lightning country.......2007-08-31
This works great. We get a lot of lightning at my house, and the power either flickers off for one to ten seconds, or goes off or a half hour occasionally. So, usually when that would happen, my computer would restart. Even on the shortest flicker. This solved that problem. It gives you an audio alarm when the power is out as well to warn you. There are various beeps that will let you know how much time you have left. If the power is out long, I'll shut down. I've never reached the end of the battery life, but I haven't tried to push it either. It's handy to have my DSL router plugged in too, because sometimes the power will go off but the phone stays on fine, so I don't loose connectivity either. I quickly ran out of sockets though, so you may want to count everything you'd like plugged in ahead of time. Non-critical things like speakers, scanner, printer, I have on a regular surge protector. It's become invaluable since I got it.
Great Price for basic UPS.......2007-08-27
The APC BE350R is a great unit for the money. I use them on plazma TVs and laptop plug ins around the house. Price plus Amazon's Prime shipping, makes it a no brainer as to where to buy from.

APC is A-OK.......2007-08-27
This is a great unit for power protection on a budget. In my area, the electricity goes out several times a week during the summer. Sometimes it is just for a few seconds, though sometimes it can be out for several minutes to an hour. During the short outages, my computer does not even know anything has happened since the battery instantly provides the necessary power long enough to power down or make it through the short outage. In the week I have had two of these new units installed, I have found runtime to be in excess of ten minutes for a basic Dell and LCD monitor. In this price range, I was surprised to find automatic shutdown software with an included USB cable and extra phone cord. This unit is an excellent choice for the home user, and I have already suggested it to several others.
The only con I have is that the outlets themselves on the top of the unit are not of the same quality as previous APC units I have purchased back in the 1990s. Being honest, those older units were over $100 each, too. The outlets on this new 350 are very tight when inserting a three-prong plug and take some extra force to insert, yet a two-prong plug is just slightly wiggly. In consideration, this is really a trivial issue to me when compared to the rest of the unit, though someone else may be confused and wonder why the plug will not insert easily, so I thought I would mention it. Once the computer gear is plugged in, the average user will not do much power cord swapping anyway.
Works as advertised.......2007-08-23
I have four of these. I work out of the home and have flakey power. I have a Windows PC, Linux Server, DSL modem, router and wireless access point in several different rooms. Every time the power would blip I would have to wait for all of this equipment to reset/reboot before I could get back to work and I would lose whatever I was working on last. Although these don't have much power they do keep me up in the blips and give me enough time to shut every thing down properly in case the outage is longer than a blip. A pretty cheap solution that works great.
Average.......2007-07-26
I don't have a lot of runtime on this product so we'll see how durable it is as time goes on. It seems fairly simple and well built for the money except for where the plugs plug in. These don't seem to be as tight as they should be and I am concerned about this being an issue later on. I gave this three stars because there is nothing exceptional about this product.

Functional with a great display..........2007-09-02
This is a great little UPS. The display is clear, not on all the time (so my feet don't glow red). The panel buttons are straight forward. I like it!
This UPS insists on 120V "60"Hz.......2007-08-24
I unfortunately reside on an island that uses 120V 50Hz for the electricity supply. This UPS is not listed as requiring 120V 60Hz for the input. When it is not explicitly stated, I have gotten used to expecting the electrical devices I purchase to support 120V 50Hz or 120V 60Hz. I gave it two stars, because it costs too much to ship it back, and it refuses to connect up to an electrical supply that is 120V 50Hz.
Liked it........2007-08-23
Easy set up, easy software installation, a very straight forward operation. I am satisfied with this purchase.
Great quality.. super expensive batteries.......2007-06-13
APC makes good quality products but as many have noted there are two basic problems. First, they keep changing their line-up of products so that if you product dies when out of warrenty you probably have to buy a whole new UPS unit since APC would have dropped support for your model by then and even a simple and cheap replacment part would not be available. Second, their charge an arm and a leg for replacement batteries! It is insane.. but if you do your search online and do a careful study you can probably get the same type of battery (but different brand name on it) for a lot less.
Also, I never buy the BX/XS models as they rely on the battery for some voltage regulations and that dies out the battery faster. the RS models are worth the extra bucks I think.
Finally a real-time LCD display from APC.......2007-05-21
First a review on pricing...
There are two models - BR1500LCD (Back UPS RS 1500) and BX1500LCD (Back UPS XS 1500). The difference:
1. RS model has additional phone/fax/model/10/100base-T ethernet protection. The XS only has phone/fax/modem protection.
2. Auto Voltage Regulation is capable of BOOST (due from low voltage) and TRIM (from over voltage). Again, the XS model only has BOOST, and no TRIM feature.
The price difference between the two is USD50.00. So depending on whether you need the extra feature as well as the area on where you live to depend on the TRIM function, the better equipped model may be for you. Aside from the above they are the same in the rest of the features, battery and physical dimension.
In any case, if you plan to purchase the more expensive RS model, then Amazon is your best option - lowest price with free shipping and zero tax.
So on to the product review...
I actually owned the white APC Back-UPS XS 1500 in 2002. It was doing it's job for a good 4 years. I purchased it because it was offered on sale by a retail store. Four years later it suddenly gave up just like that. I thought the battery was dead so I ordered new batteries. In less than a day the unit went dead again. I then sent it in to a recognized APC repair shop with the new batteries I purchased and they diagnosed that the circuit board is busted. That's the reason why it was shutting down. It wasn't able to charge the battery. So it wasn't the battery that was the problem in the first place, but the circuitry of the unit itself. I threw a perfectly good battery and spent on a new one I didn't need. They said it was beyond repair as APC was not supplying those boards anymore and suggested I purchase a new unit.
In the meantime, APC's trade-up program is a joke. You are supposed to get a discount for turning in your old UPS and buying a new one from them. But the truth is they sell their units at full retail price in the first place so any discount they give you negates it and even turns out more expensive than buying online or at retail stores.
I swore off purchasing APC UPS after incurring so much expense and ending up with a note that there was no hope for a repair support for it after the warranty. This is the problem with APC and one which I told them numerous times that they offer too many product variations for the same line. New products are introduced in a year that they stop support for replacement parts on the old products.
I saw this new BLACK XS1500 with an LCD display at a brick and mortar store initially for USD199.99. For USD20.00, you're better off at Amazon for the better RS model.
Then just before the Memorial Day weekend they put it on sale at USD144.99. That's a no-brainer USD55.00 in savings for the low end model. On top of that, I would have to spend even more to get the RS model. I couldn't resist and purchased two of the XS models that day.
(NOTE: May 27 - The price is now back up to USD199.99 so it's not worth purchasing the XS model. Amazon's RS model is your best option at this point.)
The manual suggests charging the unit for 16 hours straight prior to use. It comes with the connectors disabled so the batteries remain fresh when purchased. Unlike the white version, this product is more compact due to it's smaller height being 6 inches less. Although it is 1.85 inches wider. It is also 5lbs heavier perhaps due to the new battery model.
Specs:
1. 865 Watts / 1500 VA (same as white)
2. 6 battery back up outlets and 2 surge outlets (same as white)
3. Surge energy rating is 340 Joules (white version is 420 Joules)
*The above specs I got directly from APC website.
The white version only needs 8 hours recharge time versus the black's 16 hours. However, unlike the white version, this black version comes with an LCD which makes it very convenient and informative. How?
1. It will tell you input voltage of the outlet. Now you'll know if there's something wrong with the supplied current.
2. It will tell you the output voltage it is giving to your equipment.
3. You are given the actual load in Watts as well as percentage and a bar graph to help you determine how much more you can connect. No more guessing how much your computer is taxing the UPS.
4. The most convenient of all features is the bar graph showing how much battery life is left. Manual states you can expect to replace battery within 3-6 years. Umm, okay. This time it will tell you how much battery life is left. A real life saver to help you determine if the battery is being charged properly and when it's time to start saving for that ubber expensive APC battery replacement part.
You have a choice of having the display shut off for stealth mode. In fact it comes with this feature enabled from the factory. I changed the setting to show me the real-time display of my computer load so I know how hard my processor is working.
By the way, I'm using an Apple Power Mac G5 2.0 DP (with a massive nVidia Geforce 6800 Ultra DDL graphics card, 4 internal - 3x250GB, 1x160GB SATA hard disks, an SATA PCI-X and FireWire 800 PCI-X controller. There is also a 23" monitor and HP scanner. All are idling at an averaging 215 Watts. That's only 24% of the capacity of the unit and a good 22 minutes of runtime. With five (5) more free outlets, it enables me to work the computer under heavy load, add more external peripheral and still get respectable runtime left.
The Cons...
1. APC makes too many models every year. Apart from that, they make sub-models and confusing branding within a model as you have seen in this case - RS is also known as the BR1500, XS is also known the BX1500. I've lost support for replacement parts on the white version by the time the unit gave in. I was hoping to be able to simply replace batteries and keep adding more UPS units. In my case, I needed to throw the old one with no hope for repair.
2. APC makes expensive products. There are a handful of other manufacturers that make similar LCD units for way less. I would have gone that route, but the current sale they are offering this brings the price at par with the less known brands.
3. APC battery prices are crazy expensive. They last around 3-6 years. You would need to replace them for continued functionality. Sadly my old APC UPS gave up first than the battery. Being out of warranty, my only choice was to buy a new unit.
If you actually dissect the APC battery, you'll know it's manufactured by some other company. If you're resourceful enough you can grab the very same model for way less. But make sure it's the same brand and model because there are a lot of cheaper battery replacements out there that don't last as long.
4. I wanted to state that APC is expensive because of reliability so that should offset the pricing. Well, in my case I get less than satisfactory product life.
5. Software version is very old. There are no 2007 updates especially for a Mac. In fact the CD that came with this NEW product is older than what is available at the APC website.
My suggestion - just like the LCD read out, they need to make this data possible to display on your computer screen so you don't have bend down and check runtime and load levels, if and when needed.
6. Furthermore, one more convenient LCD readout should report UPS temperature. I believe this may help reduce failure of units especially when heavily loaded.
Verdict...
Amazon's RS offering at less than retail is a great purchase. If you can find the lower XS model for USD150.00 and won't be needing the TRIM function from over voltate power supply, I would suggest grabbing it quick.
Either model you choose, the LCD display feature is a very convenient addition as it gives you real-time report. These current black models are more compact and able to fit in smaller spaces under your desk.
As for the life of the product, only time will tell if these choke right after warranty period.
So four (4) stars right now especially if you find them on sale at a brick and mortar store.

Would be great except for one bug.......2007-08-18
The device stops supplying power after 20 minutes unless you press the button on the unit. So, if you need to power a gadget or recharge something for longer than 20 minutes, you need to repeatedly press the wake up button on the unit. Other than that, it is a very nice device.
APC UPB10 Mobile Power Pack.......2007-08-12
I bought it for my son for his birthday and he charges his cell phone and Ipod on it. He is very happy with it.
Awesome.......2007-05-14
This device is fantastic. Just as it's description says it can charge and power any mobile device that can use USB as a power source. I've used it with my iPod, PSP, Nintendo DS, and even my GPS and it works beautifully.
Before I got it, I was expecting something larger and heavier that didn't hold it's charge as well as this does. I should have known better. All of the APC products that I use at home and at work are great and this is no exception to that rule. It easily fits into a pants pocket or a small bag that you might use to carry your other devices.
What has impressed me the most is how well it can hold it's charge when it's not in use. Other portable batteries I have tried usually get pretty drained rather quickly when sitting on a shelf or being carried around. I've gone weeks without using this and it still had a full charge when I needed it. That was a life saver. We were lost in another state and the battery in my GPS was almost dead. The UPB10 got us home with power to spare.
I haven't been able to test how much time it can add to my various devices, because it lasts longer than I have needed it so far. On a weekend it looks like I got an additional four hours on the PSP. I could have gone longer, but I ran out of time to use it. That was while using it when watching a movie on the memory stick and playing a game from a UMD disc. I was also using my GRADO headphones at a good volume level.
I have noticed that some people have commented that the PSP can't be charged from a USB cable. This is only true if you don't have the right kind of cable. There are several manufacturers that make a USB cable with an extra wire that plugs into the power port on a PSP. MadCatz even makes a retractable one that I use because it makes everything even more portable. There is also a similar cable for the Nintendo DS, which otherwise couldn't be powered by USB.
The UPB10 may seem a bit pricey at first, but with it's versatility and performance, to me it was worth every penny.
Not for PSP.......2007-03-21
The UPB10 information says that it will charge portable gaming systems and some of the advertisements show what looks like the outline of a Playstation Portable (PSP). However, the PSP does not charge via its mini USB port and APC has not released a cable that will connect to the 5 volt DC input to the PSP (nor do they have an estimated date of availability).
A bit of deceptive advertising in my opinion.
great but.......2006-11-04
Cool, small way to take along extra power when a car outlet isn't available. Metal trim piece on mine got stuck in glue used to hold it in package and tore off. Otherwise, a 5 star

Works.......2007-09-09
I have a PC, a 17" and a 19" monitor and a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into this unit. It tells me that I have 16 minutes of battery backup, which is fine for saving a document and shutting down the system. It also tells when it kicked in last and why. ("Line noise" is the only reason so far, after a month.) It was easy to set up.
Excellent home/workstation UPS..........2007-08-02
After a recent series of storms here in Tucson, my apartment suffered a series of brownouts and a 15 minute blackout. I had three computers (a Windows PC, a PowerMac G5, and a Linux PC) and a 19" LCD monitor all plugged into a single APC Back-UPS 1000 that's a few years old. I've been cheap and haven't bothered keeping up with replacing the battery in it, so when the power failed the UPS couldn't keep up with the load, and shut down.
Clearly, I needed more UPSs for my computers, as running all three off of a single UPS was simply not suitable.
After doing some research, I decided on getting several BE650Rs from a local vendor as I needed them immediately. The units are reasonably compact, considering they have a chunky battery and various circuits inside. Each unit will supply 650VA or 390 watts of power, which is more than adequate for an average home computer and monitor -- I used a Kill-A-Watt meter to figure out what the load from each of the computers would be, and they're all well within the limits of the UPS.
Setup was a breeze -- connecting the battery wire was easy, and it fit back into its compartment without any complaint. The plug has the cord emerging parallel to the wall and facing "southeast" if "north" is straight up. This is ideal for cable routing, as the cord is not sticking straight out from the wall with more traditional plugs.
The unit can protect against surges from several sources: electrical power outlets, coaxial cable (cable modem, cable TV, etc.), telephone/DSL lines and ethernet (you can protect telephone/DSL lines *or* ethernet, but not both at once, as the both plug into the same jack on the UPS). The UPS comes with a short length of both coaxial cable and one-line telephone cord for making the connection easy. I connected my cable internet connection through the UPS and it does not cause any problems with the cable signal -- I still get high speed internet access, and I rest easier knowing my systems are protected from surges on the cable network.
The unit comes with APC's PowerChute Personal Edition software, but I generally find it unnecessary. It connects to the computer with a USB cable (it has a USB plug that fits into the computer, but the other end is an RJ-45 plug similar to an ethernet plug, and fits into a special socket on the UPS). Both Mac OS X and Windows XP automatically recognize the UPS when connected by USB, and I find the operating system's respective power management controls to be better than APC's software. I advise simply not installing PowerChute, but instead just using the options available through your operating system. For Windows, I advise having the system "hibernate" rather than shut down -- by hibernating, the system's current state is saved and the computer is shut down and uses no power; there's no need to save documents before shutting down, as the whole state is saved. When you turn the hibernating computer back on, it comes back exactly as you left it. It's extremely nice to have computers gracefully and automatically shut down/hibernate when the batteries run low.
For Linux, the apcupsd daemon (developed by a third party, not APC, and also available for Windows, Mac OS, and other systems) communicates with the BE650R via USB and can be configured to send notifications, shut down the computer, and perform other actions when the power fails. It also allows one to query the unit for more detailed information reported by the UPS -- percent load, line voltage, and other handy stuff.
Runtime for each of my computers is about 13 minutes or so, not including the monitor (which is on a separate UPS), though this can vary somewhat. It's certainly adequate for a system to gracefully shut down without data loss or damage.
I conducted some impromptu testing (flipping the circuit breaker for the outlet the UPSs are plugged into) and all the units switched immediately, and all the attached computers continued operating smoothly. All the units communicated properly with their computers, which all correctly indicated they were running on batteries. When certain criteria were reached (25% battery left, in my case) the computers all correctly shut down or hibernated in accordance with my settings.
This UPS was designed primarily to allow for the attached computer to gracefully shut down following a power outage, rather than provided extended uptime (such as would be necessary for a server, for example). While it can certainly allow one to continue working through short outages, brownouts, and so forth, it would behoove the user to save documents and shutdown the computer as soon as possible after the power fails. To prolong battery life, only absolutely necessary devices (computer, monitor, any external disk drives, etc.) should be connected to the battery-supplied outlets. Devices like speakers and printers should be connected to the surge protected outlets (due to their very high power consumption, laser printers should never be connected to the battery-supplied outlets but are fine on the surge protected outlets).
This unit is mainly targeted toward the home user, and doesn't offer some of the advanced features of more expensive units -- there's not automatic voltage regulation, display screens, and so forth. Instead, the unit provides affordable protection against surges, brownouts, power failures, and similar bad things while giving the computer enough time to save documents and shut down cleanly.
Be sure to read the equipment protection policy and make sure your equipment is all wired properly or else the equipment protection policy is void. Look for "backdoor" opportunities for surges to damage your system -- even if your computer is connected to the UPS, you need to be sure that telephone lines, cable, ethernet, and other devices that are connected to the computer are similarly protected from power surges using APC equipment.
I've spent years working at telecom and internet-related communications companies and I use only APC power-protection products on my servers, home computers, television, and other sensitive electronics. Don't skimp on quality when you're protecting valuable equipment and data -- APC equipment may be a few dollars more expensive than competitors, but it's very high quality stuff backed by a solid company.
/I do not presently work nor ever worked for APC or any affiliated company.
//I'm just a very satisfied customer who's owned several APC products over the years.
Works well.......2007-07-08
I have several comments in various categories:
1) Other reviews: If you want more than four backup outlets, for heaven's sake, use a power strip plugged into the UPS. No big deal!
As to the surge protection; the unit certainly CLAIMS to offer surge protection on all 8 outlets (no battery on 4 of them). I have had no experience one way or the other.
I had no problem connecting the battery wire. Maybe they fixed the problem.
2) Software: Be aware that the PC version of PowerChute is considerably more full-featured than the Mac version, and that for an Intel Mac you must download a new version (and make an account with APS to get it, though it is free). I could not get PowerChute to do anything useful on my Mac Mini. However, both Windows XP and OS X 10.4 supports this UPS out of the box.
3) Mac OS X support. The native support should be nice, but it did not work well for me. You can tell it to shutdown after n minutes on battery (or when there are n minutes of power left or when there is n% power left) and you can also tell it to power back on when AC is restored. It did not do this for me. It shut down into some indeterminite state (unusable but drawing power) at the specified time and did not come back on power up. I think this is an OS X problem or maybe my own config problem, nothing against the UPS.
4) By default, the UPS can drive you nuts during a power failure. While it is supplying power it beeps every 30 seconds. And it beeps repeatedly when the battery reaches full discharge. My computer room is near the bedroom. Need I say more? We had a power failure at night within a few days of the time I installed it. Luckily, if you install PowerChute on a PC, you can program the UPS not to beep. It took me a while to determine this, but there are quite a few options (unclear which are UPS settings and which are software settings) on the PC version.
5) My speakers came with my HP LCD monitor and are powered by it. If I have the LCD on battery, the speakers make a buzzing noise. Not surprising that the UPS does not put out as pure a sine-wave as the power company, I suppose. It does not bother me, but you should know about it if you want to use the unit for audio applications.
Hope this helps...

It works like it should.......2007-07-03
I got one of these for each workstation at the office. I ran a test on the station. I plugged in a 19" CRT monitor, desktop, and laser printer into the battery backup outlets. First there was not an overload on the UPS, so that was good. I unplugged the fully charged battery from the wall and got about 15 minutes of run time. This is more than ample time for the user to save work, so I think this UPS perfectly did its job.
No surge protection.......2007-06-26
I bought this to protect my new PC that I bought just last week. We had an electrical storm today. My motherboard is now toast. I only saw one other person in the Amazon reviews talk about this experience (probably b/c electrical spikes of this magnitude don't happen every day).
If you buy this unit, be sure to buy a good surge protector. It may do the battery backup part OK, but don't make the same mistake as me and rely on it for surge protection.

Sturdier than Ziplinq.......2007-07-09
Sturdier, a bit bigger, easier to unplug.

APC's DC to AC Inverters allow you to keep working, whether you're on the road or in the air. Designed for the mobile professional as well as recreational user, APC's inverters supply you with normal household AC power whenever you're near a 12 volt DC power outlet, like those found in a car, RV or boat. Selected models also feature an airline adapter, which allows you to plug into the seat power receptacle on a plane, and eliminates the need to buy expensive back up batteries.
Customer Reviews:
Airline power converter.......2007-07-05
Does everything it is supposed to do. The converter box is a bit on the big side, but it's great to have the extra power on long flights. Warning: although the unit is rated at 150 watts, enough to power even 17" laptops, some airlines only provide 65 to 75 watts of power to their power plug. No problem for MP3 players, but power hungry laptops will not get recharged with this, but it will definitely prolong the use.
WORKS GREAT.......2007-06-07
I used it on my plane ride to europe, charged my laptop great as well as my iPod, and would have charged my cell is it had died too! The only downside (and this has to do more from the plane's end the this product) but I could not use the computer or iPod while it was charging, it seemed to take TOO much power, but just the fact on a 9 hour plane ride, I could chrge my laptop during lunch and get right back to work, I was very happy!!
Also works great in the car and in here, you can use the computer WHILE chargeing. We take long car rides, so this really helps (also when waiting to pick the kids p from school!!)
have not tried it on a boat, but I am sure it works great!
I love this charger, especially since it is not a laptop only, I can plug anything in it, that needs power! (well within reason of course, and within the product guidlines, but anything portable!)

Problems with PowerChute for Windows XP.......2007-08-31
I installed the software on a HP Pavillion PC with Windows XP, SP 2. After restarting or awakening the pc afer power-off or hibernation, the UPS could not be found. Unplugging and plugging-in the USB cable restored the connection. It was suggested that I uninstall and reinstall the PowerChute software, but the results were the same. Big sigh...
Works fine.......2007-07-21
No problems with it. We found that the default settings were a bit to sensitive for our power supply (it kept on beeping pretty regular), but the support desk helped us fast to adjust this setting, with the software that comes with it. So now it works fine, and we alreadey bought a second one. An other advantage is the size, they are nicely compact and the software will take care that our server is shut down without problem in case of a power outage.
Great UPS.......2007-05-13
Like all APC UPS products I own, this one runs flawlessly and is very quiet. Highly recommended.
Works great........2007-04-15
I'm not using it with a pc setup. It's currently setup with my home theatre system. a 50'' plasma at about 470watts along with a dvd-r, cable box, xbox360, and a 400watt 5.1 surround system. It backs up everything for over 10 minutes. I've experienced many power surges since its installation due to electrical work being done in my house, and it has kicked in seamlessly everytime. This is a definite go!
Saved my systems from bad power........2007-01-10
Everything hooked up thru the UPS is still fine and running (Apple G5, 2 terabytes of external HDs, 2 PC laptops, 27in LCD TV, PC speakers with bass and more...). We have lost several electronic devices that were not on an APC UPS. My KillaWatt pro voltage monitor shows it works great. Living in Missouri there is lighting and wind messing with the power ALWAYS.

Great Backup!.......2007-06-10
I have tried 2 different brands of UPS units and this is by far the best I have tried. So far it has worked like it should with no problems.
Would highly recommend it. When you buy one, make sure it is going to be powerful enough for future expansion!

Is what it is-does what it says!.......2007-05-28
I bought this in order to have a back up battery pack for my M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 digital recorder. I'm thrilled to find something this inexpensive that works.
It works!.......2007-01-07
This is a great product. It's simple and performs well. Bought recently and have used it twice. It recharged a nano which had aprox. 25% of it's power remaining. Have also used it once with a 30gb ipod. It's only shortcoming is that it requires the usb to ipod cable which came with your ipod, but I knew that when I made my purchase. Similar products from other companies cost 3x or 4x as much. Wish APC would make a Ipod only version elimenating the need for the other cable, and consider using 4 AA instead of 4 AAA bateries as the power source. I trust APC due to the quality of their other products.

Manage your passwords with ease.......2007-07-24
I have this product for more than 2 years now and I love it!
It is very comfortable to use, the software that comes with it allows you to capture all sites with password (the tool recognize those sites authomatically and you have also a manual option). The fingerprint recognition is outstanding and it free you from the need to remember your passwords (but remember to make a copy of the password vault and save it in safe place just in case).
One point to notice - this product does not have currently support in Vista (at least did not have such the last time I have checked).
Software Compatibilty Woes Mar Nice Tool.......2007-04-11
If you have ANY chance of upgrading to Windows Vista, you will want to avoid this product like the plague. APC seems to be unwilling to put pressure on SoftEx to come out with a Windows Vista version of the biopod's software. If you are sure you will use Windows XP forever, then at least don't pay full price for this, like I foolishly did.
APC BIOPOD (USB).......2007-02-10
Works as I expected and without any install problems or sign in problems. It however, at times, does not recognize some password detected events when it should and sometimes it seems that it forgets passwords already memorized. This is the exception rather than the rule, however when asked it acknowledges the fingerprint readily and this is a good thing.
Great solution for passwords!.......2007-01-30
Biopod Password Manager was easy to install and does a fine job in signing in for almost all of your passwords. It is easy to use and more than one person can use the same reader. It does have some difficulty in logging into sites where the login is a pop-up or other complicated login, such as Quicken updates. All in all, I highly recommend it and it is hard to find such a great helper for such a low price!
Excellent password and security manager.......2007-01-16
The APC BIOPOD is easy to set up and use. It provides great security for just the basic computer use, as well as fast password sign on secure sites and password protected web site accounts.
I like the ease of use and the faster sign on capibilities to internet sites and would recommend it to others. Also a fair purchase price.
