It makes going to the gym an absolute pleasure. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. But it sure is more fun that with the "clunky" old Ipods.

I was very disappointed with the sound quality; in fact, it seems to be hyper-tweaked for treble and base, and the two overpowering settings and opposing qualities pierce your ears. The treble is so high it actually is a bit dangerous and could increase longterm hearing damage. It is really important to consider equalizing music for clarity (keeps volume levels down) and for hearing safety. I love dance and hip hop so this shuffle is so not for me. It's price tag is also too high for being a step back from the original shuffle. I am confused? I love the size, but it doesn't hold the quality that 79$ can get you these days and I am not willing to risk my hearing on bad sound quality. Good Luck!

I will not say much about the good since there are so many positive reviews here already that would supply more information that I care to do. I will say the reason I bought this to replace my nano was the form factor and the lack of a scroll wheel. I liked the nano and really liked the lanyard headphones that allowed me to wear it around my neck. The problem was I found the scroll wheel too sensitive. Too often trying to skip to the next song found me accidentally increasing the volume and blowing my eardrums out.
Now for the shuffle's bad points...
1)It is gone! I lost it already after just a few months. The clip, which I thought would great, is not strong enough. The headphone cord is not long enough to keep it in my pocket, so it was usually clipped to my shirt somewhere or I would wrap the headphones around my neck and clip it to the wire. I was unloading some wood from my car and it fell off. This was right in front of my house but by the time I realized it was gone, someone had picked it up and made off with it already.
2)No folder support. Sure there is no screen but there could still be a button to skip to the next folder. The Creative Zen Stone I picked up after losing the shuffle has this ability(I DO NOT recommend it, however, see my review of that player). One gig holds 150 songs or so and I would like the ability to break that down a bit by mood, etc.
3)A bit expensive for a screenless 1 gig mp3 player.
So, I guess the improvements I would wish for would be folder support, a lower price and a stronger clip. Or, a clip free version that could be worn around your neck. I had a 256 mb pendant mp3 player from Virgin that was pretty good. Give it the shuffle's better controls and capacity and it would be great.

I received this for my birthday and have used it for a week now. The most difficult part of set up was getting it out of the box. After that, it was so simple you mom may be able to do it all on her own. I was very surprised at the volume and clarity for such a small item. Fun and easy!

I read the reviews, it looked like what I needed, so I ordered one. Mine might have been defective, because it was loud, quite loud. I've never had a USB Hub that has made any noise, but this one had a very high pitched whine to it, at all times, also I thought the light was to bright, great size and layout of the USB ports, I don't think I'll try another one of these.

Great little hub to keep everything connected & handy. I like the aluminum finish, & the weight of it. I also like the option to plug it into an AC outlet & make it a POWERED USB hub. This is important for many peripherals. The blue light on top makes it easy to find, but is verry bright at night, almost like a blue flashlight shining a cone onto the adjacent wall. The unit easily slides out of the aluminum "base tray" if needed. This is my only caveat with the unit. I wish it had a way to lock the hub into the tray so it would not be so easy to slide out when you don't want to remove it.
Overall, I am well pleased with my purchase, & would definately recommend.

Unlike other items that cannot stand on their own because of the weight of cables attached, this one can comes with a metal base that can be mounted on a wall. The hub slides in and out of the base easily. This thing is all metal: it feel solid very well designed.

This wall mount is good value at Amazon even compared to what you can buy at Wal-Mart. It is solid and well made. It is holding up my Sony 40inch Bravia very well and the mount allows easy movement of the TV set forward and lateral. It is easy to install (two person lift) although my set was missing two (non-critical) screws which SANUS provided within a weeks time after calling their customer service. However, as usual (this is my second wall mounting experience), the machine screws provided to attach the mount to your TV only comes in two lengths. As with my other TV (Olevia), neither length fits flush on one side of the TV. The only solution is to add a lot of washers (not enough provided) to the long size screw to secure the problem side. I don't understand why manufacturers simply don't provide three length sizes accordingly since I'm sure they are aware of the screw sizes these TV sets require.

This was the first time I purchased something from amazon and it was a great experience. I saw this stand at best buy and circuit city for $399.00 and I was surprised to find it here for $225.00. It was real easy to install and I am so happy that we can move it right and left and in and out. If anyone has a 42" or bigger flat panel this would be a great purchase. It is strong and durable. This is a strong unit. I have a sharp 46d92u. It weighs in at just 100 lbs or so. This wall unit is heavy as well. It is well constructed. Instructions are a little veg. Pictures do not tell you that you do not need to line up exactly. The 2 piece outward arm folds in both directions. It took about 30-40 minutes to install. Measuring where the holes need to be in regards to the studs took most of the time. Do not over tighten the lag screws. The screws will bust off at the head. They are not high grade bolts. My only complaint. To turn left or right is easy to do with just one finger. To extend outward takes more of an effort. This is well worth the money and I would buy it again.

The Sanus VMAA18S is a very quality product. I am very pleased with the stability it has in supporting a 46" TV. Articulates perfectly and assembly is relatively easy. If my TV were too heavy I think my wall would give out before this thing - it is solid.

Not a well thoughtout design for some laptops.......2007-09-25
After several hours of use, my Dell Inspiron 9300 ends up generating enough heat so the keyboard can be uncomfortable. Additionally, it is very hot on the right hand side of the laptop (where the screen and laptop hinge together down to the SSD card reader). So I started looking for a method to cool my laptop.
I was hoping to find a cooling method using some type of refrigeration (e.g. Cold Metal Plate). All I found were plates with and without fans.
The Cooler Master R9-NBC-AWAK is the only one I found with fans, a metal plate, and suppose to work with for 17 inch widescreen laptops. So, as they say in the Pokemon world - I choose you!!
Now for the positive: The cooler's width is just right at 17 inches. OUTSTANDING!! My laptop is cooler.
The problem is the depth is too short by 3 to 4 inches. The laptop's rubber feet can't hold it up off of the chill plate and thus allow the air to flow under the laptop.
So, the fans are not providing air flow under the laptop. The chill plate becomes simply a chill plate and not a cooler (e.g. plate with fan).
I call this a poor design considering Dell is a major PC producer. The designers missed the mark when not thinking about how to support Dell's 17" wide screen laptops.
What could they do TODAY other than stopping the manufacturing line?
How about shipping their own rubber feet (say 4 of them) to place on the top / back edge of the plate? This would hold the laptop up off the plate and allow air movement from the fans to work.
Overall I'm happy with the item. I'm using two Jolt Mint Flurry tins (metal cans) to hold up the laptop. The air is flowing around the laptop and it is even cooler now that the fans can actually work properly. The downside is these Jolt tins are thicker than rubber feet.
The acid test for me is would I buy the item again? The answer is yes. Why?
1) It is the only 17" wide screen cooler (metal or plastic) on the market I could find.
2) It is made out of metal.
3) I was able to fix the design flaw / problem on my own (see remaining problem below).
4) My laptop is a lot cooler in some areas.
There are two remaining problems:
A) The largeness of the Jolt tins are blocking air from getting to the really hot area in the upper right (and left) hand corner(s) (hinge and SSD slot). What the cooler needs are small items to separate the laptop from the metal plate (e.g. rubber feet).
B) The Jolt tins work well when everything is still, but considering laptops are mobile (e.g. planes, trains, cars, beds, etc) their use has limits. What the device needs are rubber feet one can attach to the plate.
Overall, I'd say buy this item but be aware of the its short comings. My rating is 3 out of 5 stars considering the design flaw and that I found a solution that kind of works.
Oh, while there are two USB ports on the device only one is free to use for other devices. It is nice they thought ahead to replace the port the device uses for power. Why they couldn't think about air flow for laptops deeper than than their device is beyond me. After all they designed a device with fans!!!
The worst cooler i have ever used........2007-09-23
Well, I have used CoolerMaster products before so when I saw this item at CompUSA I didn't hesitate to purchase it. Everyday that goes by I hate it more and more. First off, there is no bottom to this stupid thing. Which means if you want to actually put the LAPTOP on your LAP and you are wearing shorts, the metal and the FANS dig into your legs. Secondly, the fans are a complete joke. I feel like i was robbed of forty dollars. You can put your hand up to the fans and feel ZERO air. They are quiet because they are basically powerless. Third, within one week, the usb ports on the back of this scrap metal were so loose that to get any respone from your mouse or anything you have to wiggle them and plug and unplug them, fourth. I have a widescreen Toshiba Satellite laptop, the "widescreen" version of this garbage lets the laptop hang one inch off the back of it. If you want to make it work, you have to put velcro onto the bottom of your laptop and the "cooler" other wise the back heavy laptop constantly falls off the back of the "cooler." Dont buy this piece of garbage. I have never written a review in my life but I was compelled to write one about this "cooling device." HA!

perfect fit for 17" MBP, does a good job of keeping it cool, it is much quieter than I expected, has an extra USB port which is always nice, perfect for use on desktop although I would imagine it would be quite uncomfortable on your lap (which would defeat the purpose of allowing air flow anyway), aluminum is cool to begin with which helps as well, arrived in black not silver as shown (doesn't matter to me but just fyi), i'm loving it so far!

I've owned one now for less than a month and one of the fans is screaming like a banshee. It's so annoying that I've turned them off. Not only that, but even during it's flash of marginally meaningful existence, it didn't do much in the way of keeping my Dell E1505 Inspirion cool.
Not at all worth the price. I don't know if any of the othe cooling pads are any better, but I strongly urge you to look at other brands and then if you still can't find something, do without.

As far as laptop coolers go, this is a nice and strong aluminum cooler, compare with other plastic ones. It also fits my 17 inch laptop fairly close. The problem is it is uncomfortable to set on my lap (for car and plane trips, or just relaxing on a bed or chair) and the ridge in the back is inconvenient and gets in the way. Seems to keep my laptop nice and cool with it's 2 fans and has an extra usb to replace the one powering the fans.

Very, very cheap manufacturing. I bought this for my mother for her birthday, but when we opened it and attempted to use it, it didn't work. The battery panel was broken/not installed properly and the metal connectors wouldn't even stay in place long enough for you to try to put the batteries in.
I was very, very disappointed, especially since I had bought it ahead of time for her birthday, and by the time I gave it to her it was too late to return it. True, it may not be very expensive, but it was still $15-16 down the toilet for no good reason. Not all these may be defective, but if you're thinking of getting one, be aware that you're playing a bit of russian roulette with the results.

i use these with my video ipod my daughter watches dora etc on it, the sound is great if you dont want it playing really loud, i use it for music in the kitchen etc. seems durable so far my daughter chucks it around and pokes the silver parts. even fits my ipod while it has a back up batery pack attached. my husband has the sonic impact speakers, but am getting him one of these as well they are so compact! got mine on overstock, cheaper at amazon even after shipping.

I bought these to listen to my Creative Zen in the car. Besides the bargain price, the sound quality and the construction are very good. The player comes with a USB power cable. I plug this into my USB to car power adapter, eliminating the need for batteries. The Zen fits perfectly in the holder. Even though it fell a few times from the dashboard since I hadn't secured it properly, it still works without any problem.

I had no high expectations for these speakers; just something small and portable that can be used in place of headphones in a hotel room on the road. For the price, they are impressive sounding. Very crisp and clear with low distortion, thanks to the use of the small aluminum drivers. They're not loud, but they are very clear and even have a hint of bass that make it worth the price. The universal stereo miniplug input makes it useful for anything from old school walkman tape players to ipods. You could easily spend A LOT MORE to accomplish the same thing. Great little speakers!

I have a Macbook Core 2 Duo and this unit can't handle the heat. I usually just browse online, listening to itunes and do some photo editing. But the temp still gets pretty high.
And this unit is not as quiet as advertised. It sounds like if you have a CD/DVD ROM is on high rev. That's how loud it is.

9/9/2007 8:38 am- Update: Antonline, the seller of this product, has so far only replied to my refund request with an auto-generated "send it back to the manufacturer for warranty service" email. This is unacceptable. I've sent another email demanding a refund, but I'm getting a bad feeling about Antonline. I'll update this post again in a couple of days either with a positive outcome or a "buyers beware" warning.

This handsome, sturdy, aluminum notebook cooler does the trick! After unsuccessfully using Targus podium Coolpad without fans and their Chill Pad with fans, I tried this product based on reviewer's favorable reports. My Sony 13.3" notebook runs on the hot side and this product delivers. It has a handy metallic on/off switch and extra USB port in the rear besides the one that connects the platform with the notebook. The 2 fans are positioned in the rear where the most heat collects from the laptop and the fans have a metallic screen to protect them as they run silently in the background. This product satisfactorily cools my notebook from a very hot temperature to a moderately warm temp which I find acceptable. It is ergonomically designed for easy placement of hands on the keyboard. It would seem the synergy of the cool aluminum metal along with the fans collectively function to decrease the heat produced by the laptop. The fans have a life expectancy of 30,000 hours according to CoolMaster. This size model fits the 13.3" size of my computer perfectly. I am now going to purchase the larger CoolMaster for my 15" widescreen notebook. Because it is constructed of aluminum metal instead of cheap plastic, I expect this product is built to last.
Cooler Master NotePal Laptop Cooler Too Big.......2007-08-13
I bought it for my Dell notebook, but its way too big. I'm using it with my Dell E1505, which has a widescreen monitor, and its about the right size. It sets the keyboard at a comfortable and usable angle, and the fans are very quiet. But it doesn't do much for cooling.
I haven't tried the other brands, so I cant say they are any better, but I'm disappointed with this one.

I just bought this cooling tray for my 4 1/2 year old Ti Powerbook b/c of one my fans is going down and makes a lot of noise when it kicks on. This pad keep my computer cooler and cool enough so that fan seldom comes on anymore.
Basically it works exactly as it says it will. The styling is nice and really fits well with the Mac products. It works great with my wife's Dell as well.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested!

the only thing annoying is the wrist cushion which can get pushed around a little.
But it's light weight and good looking, and gets the job done.
Bottom cushion worthless.......2007-08-26
I have been using the iLap for several weeks with my MacBook Pro 15". I keep the computer on the iLap in my lap almost all day, every day. After about 10 days, the bottom cushion started to slip, due to its one-sided velcro (only on the bottom). At this point, I've always got the hook side of the velcro scratching my legs - this is shorts weather, ouch! - but because of the tilt of the iLap itself, taking off the cushion would mean that the computer would slide off the front. I'm unhappy with my purchase and am in the process of looking for a replacement.

There's nothing worse than the oven-like temps that a MacBook brings to a man's "stuff". That's why I went out and bought an iLap. Cool design and very functional. Definitely go get one or burn your legs and "stuff".
Multiuse stand.......2007-07-19
I bought this to use when watching DVDs on my PowerBook in bed, and it works quite well for that. The padded stand keeps the computer from "cooking" my legs (PowerBooks run very hot!). But I discovered the stand is also useful at my desk -- the padded handrest is a nice feature, and the amount of elevation and tilt suit me just fine.

Used with 15" Powerbook G4 and HP Pavilion ze4900
First things first. I like it, and it is really comfortable and quite stylish, but...as others have mentioned in the reviews, the wrist pad really needs to be secured better. If you pick it up and shake it, the wrist pad flops around. Its just that the foam inside is not in any way secured to the fabric that surrounds it, so the velcro that connects it to the metal only holds the fabric. Looking at the photo I thought the pad somehow slipped onto the metal tray. Just a bit of a disappointment. That being said, the velcro does keep the pad connected well, as in it doesn't easily come off.
As for the cooling properties of the iLap, it does keep your lap from getting hot, since it actually lifts the laptop off your lap, but I don't know if it really acts like a heat sink as the description says. It just keeps the fans on the bottom from getting blocked by the fabric of your pants or bedsheets. Perhaps it would work like that for my Powerbook if i took the pads off, but I doubt it. Air circulation underneath probably does just as much for it.
I used the little rubber sticky pads it came with (not sure if they used to come with these, but they do now) and they keep both of my laptops from sliding around. My Powerbook still gets pretty hot, but at least now only my palms suffer, and my lap isn't scorching hot. I'll be sure to tell my future children to send thank-you letters to Rain :)

This stand is absolutely perfect. Very stable design and it matches the color of the MacBook perfectly. It's made of heavy grade aluminum which helps to draw heat away and cool the laptop. It's worth every penny I paid for it!!!

There were several negative comments here that this stand didn't have an opening so that you can open your Macbook Pro. The designers must have been listening, because I just got one and it has a slot cut in the front bar that solves this problem. This isn't shown in any of the pictures on this or other websites, so they must have just added it.
Everything about this stand is great. It is just a piece of metal, but the MacBook Pro fits in it perfectly (both physically and esthetically), and it is easy to reach and see when it is in there.

wonderful little babies .......2007-09-05
I didn't want to spend big bucks for a pair of speakers for my laptop, so I searched [...]. As soon as I saw the JBL/Harmon Kardon, my ears and eyes took notice. Both top audio manufacturers. Needless to say, I took the plunge and am VERY glad I did! These little beauties have wonderful sound reproduction.
If you are a head banger rock and roller, forget it. They will not make your ears ring and they won't vibrate off of the table. On the other hand, if you really can appreciate wonderful sound quality, even at low volumes, look no further.
No, the bass won't rattle the windows, but it will softly flow from the speaker and fill your ears with delight. The high end is tempered very well also. Nothing to pierce your cranium, but boy does it sound nice. I can hear the high hat cut through so delicately...and Chaka Kahn's voice is as sweet and crisp as ever ("Sweet Thing" never sounded so fine!)
I have had these speakers for a year and a half now and they are as great as the day I opened the box. I have recommended them to countless people... In the same room as my computer (with these on it), I have a so called 'real stereo' with a pair of the 1970's Baby Advents, which of course sound great, but to be honest, I usually listen to music through these when I am hanging out or on my computer. They sound superb. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Not bad, Not Bad.......2007-07-13
I bought these speakers for my portable dvd player, and they are great. I found some on sale for $22 AUD, so for that money they are fantastic. But I wouldnt pay full price for them. a few minor flaws, LED lights on the front are quite bright, no bass/trebble control. If I had of paid full price for these, I would have been a little disapointed, but as a cheap pair of multimedia speakers, they are tops.
Update: I hooked these speakers up to the computer and there is a lot of buzz. The buzz isnt present when using them with my portable DVD player. I wouldnt use these as computer speakers.
Great Sound - compliment MacBook Pro very well.......2007-06-13
I bought these to use with a Mac Mini and now use them with a MacBook Pro. These speakers have a lot going for them:
- clear, crisp sound
- more than loud enough to fill any home or office space
- sleek, attractive design, compliments MacBook Pro VERY well
I looked at 3-piece systems with subwoofer, but those were so large and had more cables (READ: unattractive). This system has nice sound with excellent looks. For the price, they can't be beat! I highly recommend them. (Also, no buzz with my computer -- must be the other reviewer's PC)
Great sound, loud buzz.......2007-01-15
If you have to run the power cable next to other power cables, which you likely will, you may find that you get a loud buzz when there is no music playing. I believe this is due to improper or inadequate shielding of the power cable.
When the speakers are playing audio, the sound is great, but when they're not, the buzz is fairly nerve-wracking.
So, if your speakers can be wired away from other computer cables, these are good speakers. But if you need to run the power cable near the other cables, you may get a buzzing sound.
Mini Speakers with a boom........2007-01-10
I Love these little guys. I have them on my desk to as a desktop sound system only. I don't use them as a main stereo source. I'm in a small office and each work station in the office has a pair of the Duets, and honestly for blasting your Itunes Music the sound is great, if the sound gets a lil tinny (like a tin can) or too bass heavy it's nothing a lil adjustment to the Itunes EQ can't fix. Their small with good sound clarity and pack a heavy bass sound when it counts. They can fill a 750sq ft studio office easily with it's sound. JBL has the best mini speakers out there in my opinion, I also have the JBL On Stage Speakers for iPod, AWESOME as well!!!
