Ipod breakdown.......2007-05-17

got this ipod and the same day the sad face came up and it stopped working. Maybe its just the fact that im not too familiar with ipod software, or that it was an older generation, either way within two weeks i was sending it away to get repaired. I reccommend getting a newer generation, its worth the money and you'll most likely have less problems.

Even though this guy has been with me for about two years now and have received a lot of use and abuse (several hits included) it is working just fine and has become the partner that put a soundtrack to my cubicle, my car, my commute and my just_before_sleep_time.

The interface is just great, the sound quality is excellent (I use my Sennheiser PX100 headphones most of the time) and the ability to store my photos and show them to the family and friends right on the screen or connected to a TV deserves a big "WOW", not to mention the "Contacts" and "Notes" utilities.

At this moment it's almost full (3.2 Gb free) with:
- 3998 songs, most of them MP3 or AAC at 320Kbps (I prefer to have them a this high quality)
- 5461 5Mp photos
- All of my contacts
- Notes with some "The Art of War" and some Japanese fayry tales.
- Some data files because i use it also as an external drive for copy and back up of files.

What else can be said? I would definately buy it again.

A fine device for its time, and still going strong..........2006-12-01

I got my 40Gb iPod Photo a couple of Christmases ago ... I know its a long time past and this review is very late in coming, but I thought, people can still buy this product on the "used" Ipod market, and I thought that here was a good place to give it its due...

I use iTunes 6.X with it now, and it is still going strong on its original battery! I'm not at "hard music user", so I didn't run it through its courses as much as a "power" user may.

I used it more as a PDA -- loving its calendar, using it as a hard drive -- and with only buying two other items for it (the Contour Design "Showcase 4G" case and the perpetually top-mounted Griffin iTalk) I was as happy as a clam.

I enjoyed being able to view images on its 2-inch screen, but I loved being able to show my friends and family how a simple miniplug-to-RCA cable lets you scroll through your photos on your TV screen. If your creative, you can put visible maps on this thing... truly sweet!

As I owned it for a while, its weight wore on me a bit, and I would have preferred something a little smaller and with a removable battery. The hard drive thing is a bit much, but that's a long time past. If I have now gone with a flash-based MP3 player with capabilities [FM Radio, built in USB-host capabilities, Line in jack]. If I didn't need these functions, I may have gone with the newer Nano line, but that's a different story...

No regrets, it has (and in some cases, still does have) its place in my tech life. I'd still recommend it to anyone.

iPod 40 GIG Photo.......2006-08-26

I just bought a refurb iPod 40 gig photo with firewire from the Apple Store online. It was the best priced model that still works with Firewire. Since I do not own a computer with USB 2, I wanted to stay with Firewire. Regarding malfunctioning iPods, you have a one year hardware warranty. If you choose not to buy AppleCare for the extra year, that is unfortunate, and not Apple's problem, but the users. Guess what? Sony's MP3 players come with a 90 day warranty, and Sony has a reputation for good quality. Point being: not Apple's fault if unit breaks down after one year if you don't purchase extended warranty. All electronics are made in China anyway, so buy the extended warranty. More later after using the iPod for a while.

Beware Apple Quality.......2006-07-26

Apple quality is terrible, and they don't stand behind their products. My iPod Photo started malfunctioning almost immediately after the warranty expired. I have spent more time resetting it and reloading it than listening to it. The battery gives no where near the advertised power. If you don't pay for an Apple Care policy for an extra year, Apple will not provide any service or refer to third party service for an iPod, even if you wish to pay for it.

According to the Apple Store technician, the iPod's hard drive is defective, probably was from the staryt, resulting in intermittent crashes (sad iPod face in display), inability to power on or freezing of device. Another Apple technician told me he believed the logic board is bad. They suggested replacement of the device, which cost $499, at my cost as the one-year manufacturer's warranty expired nine months ago.

This seems to be a perfect replacement for my projector except for the connector plug. That part is easily moved from the old lamp to the new one, making the fit just right. Information on model numbers is great since there is much confusion as to which lamp fits which model, even at the BenQ website. Shipment was very quick -- overall, I was very pleased.

Not for me,.......2007-09-23

I loved Fellowes original trackball - Thumbelina. It fit my small hand well and was a joy to use. particularly the 'lock and drag' feature.

Unfortunately, the present trackball is awkward to hold and use. It lacks the lock and drag feature that I as a writer enjoyed so much.

Regretfully, I cannot recommend this trackball to anyone.

CTS RELIEF!?.......2007-08-23

I bought this product because I believed it might relieve my occassional Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). It works beautifully. If you have bouts of CTS, this may be the way to go.

FELLOWES USB MICRO TRAC BALL.......2007-07-12

I use this hand held trac ball with my Mac G4 powerbook. It fits my well and causes no discomfort with prolong use.The only options you have with the double buttons is to make it Left or Right handed.

A usefull little tool..........2007-06-20

I recently purchased one for photography. It enables me to control the camera when I am shooting tethered to my lap top without being on top of the camera or sitting at a desk. About my only gripes are that the finger trigger is a little hard to get used to. I invariable end up using mine in the palm of my hand with my thumb controling the roller and right button. And though I normally have problem with trackballs grabbing the scroll bars can be a bit tricky. Though for the mission I have assigned this device it is perfect.

Point of interest though it doesn't mention it in the description. It works equally well on both my PC Laptop and my MacBook.
