5 out of 5 stars I'm completely satisfied!.......2004-03-10

If you are looking for a PCI graphic card with TV option, your search should stop here. This ATI AIW 64MB PCI card was a perfect solution for my Dell dimension 2400 XP home (it doesn't have AGP). First, I disabled my integrated display- installed the card- and the program/driver from the included CD (I didn't have to download from ATI), and I was watching TV on my computer in no time, and I love the GUIDE PLUS+ feature where you can click the TV program guide to select channels!! I'm sure there are plenty of powerful graphic cards out there for hardcore gamers, but this one does the job for me perfectly.

4 out of 5 stars Unfortunately, it doesn't do the dishes too..........2004-01-15

No, not everyone can afford a nice beefy graphics card to show off at the LAN party, and sometimes we can't even afford a computer with an AGP slot inside it. In which case, this card ought to fill up one of your PCI slots nicely.

The graphics boost is what you'd expect. But you know how these things are with computers - this card will be a proverbial goliath in less than a year. In the meantime, it should be enough to let you play graphic-intensive games with all your buddies until you've saved enough money for your next upgrade.

Having video input and output is nice. Since I can run wires to the back of TV, my computer serves as the de-facto DVD player of the house. The inputs are useful to friends with camcorders - though I personally haven't had much use for them.

But you know, it's nice to be able to watch my favorite shows on my own when the group concensus won't let me do so on the normal TV. Why pay for Tivo when you've got all of the same functionality right here? Just be sure you have ample hard drive space while you're recording (sadly, the included software won't let you record your shows straight to DivX).

Bottom line, it's not the greatest when it comes to just the graphics, but it'll certainly get the job done, and it'll do it with enough nice quirks to leave you feeling oddly satisfied with your purchase.

1 out of 5 stars be very careful.......2003-11-26

I have a dell 600sc (a server machine). The ATI install
program either (I tried about 4 diffrent version, on the CD
and their web site)
1) hung the machine hard (had to reset)
2) complained I wasn't the administrator (I was)
3) ran for a little bit and then terminated doing nothing

I tried it in a gateway 6400 (another server machine) and it
seems to work.

All times I tried it with windows xp -- eventually I'll use linux but I like to try out boards with the "vendor supplied"
software -- ATI may be the exeception to that rule.

On dells web site in the customer forums, I read about others who had the same problem...

4 out of 5 stars Great PCI card.......2003-11-25

Great card, comes with everything you need for analog tv tuner, s-video (in and out), and composite in/out.
It IS possible to use this in conjunction with an AGP card (i'm using the all in wonder VE with a Radeon 9700). Just go into your bios and set the PCI slot with your AIW VE as the primary graphics adapter (or let it autosearch). I currently switch between VGA (AIW VE) and DVI (Radeon 9700) as my primary display by toggling it in the control panel.

The one thing I did not like about this card was the software. YOU CANNOT USE THE TV PLAYER SOFTWARE PACKAGED WITH THE CARD WITH THE UPDATED CATALYST MULTIMEDIA CENTER. When you update the drivers, be careful not to install the updated multimedia center (or you can buy the updated MMC, which has an updated TV player for $10 from ATI).

It's a good card and has everything you need. It's a bit pricey, and the sound is usually mono (and fuzzy), but if you get stero sound for ur tv stations, sound is not a problem. I also plan to attempt to attach a entertainment system and display it on my monitor.

ATI support is also very slow and the website is not very helpful. http://www.lordsmurf.com was a helpful website.

-the audio problem seems to be fixable. Just make sure to plug the audio output (from the VE) to the audio input (not microphone) on the audio card.

-the software for recording that comes with VE for recording cannot record to DivX and does tend to gobble up a lot of HD space, but otherwise, the software is good. (comes with a TV guide with weekly downloadable files, recording software lets you set the quality of video/audio recorded, etc.)

-Regarding running this with an AGP video card: you tend to get blue screens when you switch if you have many programs running in the background. This could possibly be a driver issue (ATI...) and might not be an issue later

5 out of 5 stars No Problems.......2003-09-01

Very easy installation, very good performance. Very good buy especially if you do not have an AGP slot like myself.
But no remote in the package at amazon. ATI.com is giving free remote with the card ... I am trying to buy the remote on ebay.

5 out of 5 stars Great Card, Great Price, Easy Install.......2003-05-26

I needed a PCI video card for my HP, because the original 11 MB video card, which wasn't cutting it, is integrated into the motherboard - a tricky install, from what I've read. Recommendations pointed to Radeon products, but the Radeon 7500 was out of stock at the store, so I spent extra on a PNY GeForce XF 5200, which slowed my entire computer down to a standstill and locked up graphics within five minutes of gameplay. I returned it and held out for the Radeon 7500.

The install was a breeze and it's vastly improved video and game graphics. I'd recommend this product to anyone looking to zip up their graphics without breaking the bank.

5 out of 5 stars Great Video Card.......2003-04-08

This graphics card is amazing! It goes very fast and delivers exellent picture quality, which is a must. Personally, I think it is better than the Geforce 4 Ti4200. It was extremity easy to install, unlike the Ti4200. With the Ti4200, you have to do all kinds of [stuff]. Trust me on this one! It also comes bundled with a lot of neat software, like DVD programs and multiple desktop software, which lets you hook up your T.V. or another monitor to computer. An exellent way to work with multiple displays. So far, I have experienced no problems, so if you are looking to buy a graphics card, get a Radeon 7500 or something higher. You won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL LITTLE CARD.......2005-07-25

I wanted to upgrade my computer from an integrated video system and tried NVIDIA but was bothered by hang-ups , crashes and freezes constantly. It just didn't want to get along with my computer running Windows XP. I removed the NVIDIA card and installed an ATI RADEON 7500. It installed easily and I've yet to experience a problem with it.It has the same amount of memory as the NVIDIA card but was a lot less expensive. If I upgrade again I'll stick with ATI .I got a five star card.

2 out of 5 stars Tuner doesn't work well after 1 yr........2004-11-01

I purchased aiw 7500 aprox. 1yr. ago. I thought it was a decent card when I bought it at that point would have given it a 4star rating. Within three months the card started freezing my machine while using DVR. Then more reciently the video with the tuner started flashing bright than dark. It happens all the time making the tuner unusable. I have found no resolution to my problems from ati. I'm not angry just unsatisfied.

3 out of 5 stars There are better options.......2003-06-11

I bought this card to start creating SVCD's (Super Video Discs - basically CD's you can play in your DVD Player) of my favorite show. I didn't have any problems getting this card to work right out of the box, but when I started watching/recording - I found a lot of strange static on the channel I wanted to record. After replacing all the cables I was sure it must be the card... as the same cable, plugged into an actuall television had none of this static. I managed to return the card for a new one, but had the same problem with the second card.

I later purchased a Leadtek Winfast 2000xp tuner card - and it has great sound and picture - but lacks the software features of the ATI. So, for anyone interested in recording and making SVCDs or VCDs of their shows, I offer the following comparison and pro/con list.

Picture quality and sound: The Leadtek was far better, showing a crisp picture, and with none of the sound problems of the ATI.

Software: ATI is the clear winner here. Leadtek has no built in channel guide (although you can use titantv.com - but it is much more time consuming than using ATI's built it guide). The ATI software allows you to create much better recording schedules, and you can modify most details of the recording. The ATI software created great SVCD compatible MPEG2s (on the non-static channels), but with that static, they were useless. Leadtek allows you to modify the recording options (like bitrate, etc) in their software - but you can only select the resolution from a drop down list (and the SVCD compativle 480x480 is not there) and making any custom settings seems to throws the audio/video out of sync by several seconds.

One thing to note, however, is that this card comes with an older version of the software. If you want the new stuff, you'll have to pay $ to get it from the ATI online store.

Pros:
-Great software

-I'm sure some people will have better luck with the whole static issue

Cons:
-Just OK graphics chip
-Have to pay for software update
-Less than perfect tuner card

End result: I started using the freeware Virtualdub to record from the leadtek card, and then convert this to compliant MPEGs. This works, but it is incredible time consuming compared to the extremely simple ATI setup. I wish anyone who buys this card more luck than I had!

1 out of 5 stars Not Worth the Trouble.......2003-05-29

You just want to use your computer as a digital VCR right? It's unlikely you'll be doing so anytime soon with this video card. The TV feature wouldn't work until I uninstalled my NIC and USB. TV and DVD work fine now, but the capture (record) feature doesn't record any audio. Yes, yours may be ok, but here's one more thing: the software that comes with this card is version 7.5, but the current version is 8.5. Owners of the 7500 have to PAY $$$ for this upgrade, whereas owners of higher-end ATI cards get it for free. You want to do business with a company like this, be my guest.

1 out of 5 stars DONT BUY IT........2003-05-28

Ok, First of all, I have only 22 days using this device and Im sick of it.

Software:
The package comes with the 7.5 version of the Multimedia Center, if you have WindowsXP dont even try to watch DVD with the DVD player that comes with that version... Tha machine will always freeze. Also happens with the file player and eve worse with the TV Capture.

Hardware:
Graphics Card was much better than my Nvidia GForce 2 MX/200.
A lot faster, the Cable TV looks very poor but still you could watch your favorite programs, but still poor.

BIG REMOTE CONTROL ISSUE!!!!!!!
The remote receiver [is bad]!!! I dont know why but one day it just stop working and thats not all, my USB Ports doesnt work anymore. My Microsoft Optical USB Mouse is useless now. The only thing that works is my MP3 Jukebox and My Camera, thats it. I could not plug any other device in it. I tried several times to plug the USB remote freq. receiver and then I started to smell like "burned circuit".

Yeap, that was all for my excellent remote control... Right now Im trying to get the people at ATI to help and still no response.

Please do not buy this item. Try to find something else in the market... Im going back to my nvidia card.

1 out of 5 stars Frame Rate Extremely Slow.......2004-09-21

Graphics looks OK, but playback of movies were terrible. The frame rate was so slow the screen would jump and flicker continously. I do not recommend this card for any purpose.

3 out of 5 stars Decent.......2004-02-23

This is a decent video card. It really isn't fast enough to run current games at their full potential. But for basic computing, older games without high end graphics and internet browsing, this will more than meet your needs. The big problem I had was updating the drivers. You have to uninstall the previous driver first, and then install the updated version. But I ran into problems with Win XP not loading it's own driver for the card in order to bring anything up on the monitor until I could install the new drivers. So I would have a blank screen. So unless it really is needed, I would recommend leaving the updating alone as it is really a chore.

1 out of 5 stars nice card if you like problems.......2004-02-06

Being a systems builder i always test cards before selling to customers. Stay clear of the ATI name. ATI boasts great things as well as tech support. You can have all the tech support you can pay for. Customers expect the best and will not be happy when the ATI products do not work as stated. Try tech support, get through the endless fix this and update that and when the product they sell still does not work you will just get tierd and go buy another product. Sometimes the headache is not worth the hassle. BEWARE

5 out of 5 stars Easy install, works great........2003-08-08

Based on other reviews I read, I was worried about compatibility with XP but installation was easy. After uninstalling the drivers for my old graphics card (choosing not to restart, but rather manually shutting down and restarting with the ATI Radeon 7500 in its place) setup was simple.

I do not have an AGP and this is a great card for my system. It replaced a 16MB NVIDIA and the improvement is remarkable. It doesn't have the same memory capacity as cards available for an AGP but video and rendering look great with the 64 MB DDR.

This was a wise purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Difficult Installation .... but it is all worth it !!.......2003-05-20

Whatever you have read in the previous reviews is right. Installing this card is a bit tricky, but once you get it all right, it is defintely worth the effort and the money you put into this card. It took me 6 hours to get this card and the software working. I have included some very important points I noted while installing is card. Please take note of them so that you can install the card in a much shorter time.

(BTW, I have a custom build PIII 800MHz PC with 320 MB memory, Win 2K and a good old AGP 2X/4X ATI Rage Mobility card previously installed.)

    1. First of all, NEVER forget to remove the previous display drivers !! Use the uninstall program that came bundled with the software for the previous display driver (EASIEST method). In my case, I had no uninstall software to remove the previous display driver. So, I used regedit to clear the registry entries for that driver and used the safe mode to remove the DLL files corresponding to that driver (NOT recommended except for a last ditch effort).

Remove the previous card (hardware) and install this card ONLY AFTER thoroughly removing the display drivers of the previous card.

    2. When you reboot the system (in NORMAL mode) after hardware installation, Windows will display a "New Hardware Found" message. Allow it to install the Windows standard VGA driver (it will only display the 640 x 480 mode). Check the display properties to make sure it displays something like "standard VGA" or something related. (If it still shows the name of the previous display driver, go back and try removing the previous driver, until you get Windows to use the standard VGA driver).

    3. If you have the software for the motherboard drivers, re-install the one for the AGP. (one of the recommendations on the ATI website, in case you get a blank or garbled screen after you install the new drivers).

    4. In my case, the software that came on the CD never worked !! I ended up getting either a garbled screen, or the computer hangs at a blank screen. So, I went to the ATI website, downloaded the latest drivers, and viola !! everything worked perfect !! (Note: for some people, the CD-version of the display driver seem to work fine. Try the internet version if you have trouble getting the CD-version to work).

Everything else from here is a no-brainer. I installed all the accompanying software from the CDs (of course, all software EXCEPT for the CD-version of the display driver: choose custom setup during installation). I connected the cable TV co-ax to the CATV input and I got TV on my computer ! Better yet, you can preview all the channels (in the form of thumbnails) and click on one of them to watch it (how cool can this be !).

The remote worked just fine, though I still keep thinking that it an unnessary excess. Make sure that the USB receiver for the remote is taped to a wall or some open space to get better reception, instead of just letting it lay beside the metal enclosure of your computer.

I played the trial version of Age of Mythology, and I was impressed by the 3D acceleration features of this card. I am yet to try other games though.

Overall, this card is awesome !! If you somehow get through the process of installing it and getting it to work, you'll be definetely in for a surprise.

    5 out of 5 stars Best Card.......2003-04-08

It is east to use and install best ever really and really good price...

4 out of 5 stars An awesome graphics card or older games............2003-04-07

......yes very decent. Doesn't do well in the current games tho, and DON'T expect to be able to run future gamer's with this graphics card. It performs quite well though, it layed it's cards tougher than I expected. It beats out the NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS, even the 64mb version. This is a worth it card for older games, but you can tweak out the setting's in today's 3-D games to have a good trade off between graphics and frame rates. But really? Frame rates? Who needs them? I got a better frame rate in half-life than I did with the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro I tested! This card isn't bad. It can just use more power and features. That's all. Gaining nearly 20-27fps in unreal tournament 2003 with high details enabled and at a decently low to medium resolution.(such as 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768). Really, theyre isn't any urge to upgrade to a advanced 3-D accelerator graphics card with mighty power without having to spend a big buck on a budget, do everyhing card pratically, or top of the line high-end. Todays' games only require a HW T & L enabled graphics card with multi texturing and single pass capabitliesi that's somewhat directx8.1 compatible. So what the radeon 7500 doens't feature programmalbe shaders, 3-D textures, and stuff like that, and doesn't feature fast budget, or high-end acceleration graphics quality, as long as you can play today's games at a playable frame rate with good visual quality and tweak out the settings, there's nothing wrong with this graphics card!!

1 out of 5 stars Dual Moniter support doesn't work with 2 CRT's.......2003-03-31

I bought this card to because it is a reasonably priced dual moniter card. I have two CRT's (21" and 19") and wanted to increase my desktop real estate. It does not work well for this purpose. Installation was easy in my Dell 8100 system, but there is only one vga plug on the card, the other is DVI. Great if you have a LCD, but otherwise you must use an expensive adapter... Anyway, the output from the DVI port is of very poor quality. This may be because of the adapter, but regardless. it does not have a useful second output. Too bad, now I'm trying to use two separate card, which will be much harder to configure.

4 out of 5 stars Great card for the price.......2003-03-13

At first I had problems trying to install the card into my HP Pavilion running win2000. It went in fine but had problem loading. I followed the directions but when windows was loading, it'd just hang. After several times trying this and making sure everything was put in right, I went into safe mode (with VGA), disable the existing video driver (again) and reboot. Still didn't work so I went back into safe mode, disabled existing video driver (yet again) and this time installed the software and reboot. It works fine. So for people who have problems installing this on win 2000, try installing the software in safe mode. Hope this helps.

    Amazon.com Product Description

The Canon PowerShot S20 has long been considered one of the highest-quality point-and-shoot digital cameras on the market. For a limited time, we're offering this top performer with an extra 32 MB CompactFlash card and a high-quality Canon PowerShot camera case, in addition to the regular items included. That means you get a total of 48 MB of memory, and the durable padded-nylon PSC-20 case, which features an extra zippered pocket for batteries and memory cards.

The S20 is one of the smaller 3.3-megapixel digital cameras on the market. Its half-inch 3.34-megapixel charge-coupled device (CCD) creates full-color and B&W high-resolution images up to 2,048 x 1,436 pixels. It offers a 2x optical zoom lens and a range of shooting modes. The zoom can be enhanced at the touch of a button with a digital teleconverter (2x/4x) for seamless zooming up to 8x.

The PowerShot S20 features an extremely compact design that is only 4.1 inches long, 2.7 inches high, and 1.3 inches wide. In addition, the PowerShot S20 weighs just 9.5 ounces. Despite its small size, this camera features large easy-to-control buttons. You can take one digital picture after another. With IC signal processing, the camera speeds up the interval between shots to 2 seconds. It also stores and plays back images eight times faster than previous digital cameras. It has complete USB compatibility. Cables are supplied for transferring images to your Mac or PC with either a serial or USB port. You can record at three levels of JPEG compression: superfine, fine, and normal. The camera is compatible with JFIF and CIFF file formats.

The centrally located mode dial makes perfect shots easy. It offers five shooting modes--auto, manual, image (landscape, night scene, B&W, slow shutter, and high-speed shutter), stitch assist, and flash. With these modes you have the flexibility to get great shots at any time of day and in any kind of weather. The PowerShot S20 also offers red-eye reduction, a self-timer, and continuous shooting.

The Canon PowerShot S20 uses CompactFlash type I and II memory cards and also supports IBM's 340 MB Microdrive, capable of storing the equivalent of 10 rolls of pictures at a time. The PowerShot S20 comes with a comprehensive software package that is fully compatible with PC and Macintosh computers. It includes Adobe PhotoDeluxe ZoomBrowser EX, PowerShot Browser, Time Tunnel, SlideShowMaker, PhotoStitch, PhotoRecord, and PhotoAlbum for both Mac OS and Windows. The package includes a wrist strap, a video cable, interface cables, a lithium battery, a 16 MB and a 32 MB CompactFlash card, a case for the CompactFlash card, and high-quality Canon PowerShot camera case, and a user's manual.

    1 out of 5 stars Died after 2 years.......2003-12-03

We got an E6 Error on our camera, sent it to the Canon Authorized Repair in Illinois. We received an estimate for $155, with a note that it could cost more to repair. There was no explanation of the problem, just "fix due to E6 error." So we bought a new camera (Sony) and gave up on the Canon. We owned the camera for 2 years and 3 days.

Amazing little camera with 3.3 mega pixel resolution with all the adjustments and options you've ever dreamed of!
The only drawback is it's power consumption.
Buy an extra battery and take it with you all the time!
    Thumb up!
