Wanted: View of Western Sky!.......2007-05-11
This antenna is very "directional." Despite the way it is advertised, it needs to be pointed toward the Western sky with no obstructions (its ok through a glass window). Pointing it any other way gives you intermittent, or no reception.
XM Satellite Radio Connect-and-Play.......2006-08-25
The item was shipped very quickly. The company also actually took the the time to call and let me know the item was shipped. I will definitely do business with this seller again!
XM connect and play.......2006-08-24
This is the only unit that will work with 2ndary purchases, ie sony, pioneer, that are xm ready. Every place was sold out and I bought for $36 when all sold out places were $50. ITs perfect.
XM Antenna.......2006-07-11
I have two of these antenna's. I have two different XM radios in my house and these antenn'a work great. In my location I didn't have to get to the South side of my house to get good reception. Great product at a great price.
Sounds great on Yamaha HTR-5990.......2006-04-07

Customer Reviews:
Works for me!.......2007-02-12
I installed this unit in a 2001 Porsche Cabriolet. Unfortunately, the head unit was DOA, but Audiovox replaced it w/o incident. I have the antenna mounted on my dash and it works fine. I had to use the modulator sysem, which turned out to be just fine also. I wish it had three lines on the head unit so it could show Artist, Song and Channel (station?) all at the same time. Other than that, no complaints.
XM Trek Commander.......2007-01-12
Depending on your application, the Trek XM Commander is a slick way to do a custom install of an XM head unit. I previously had the XM Roady 2 and didn't like all the wires hanging out the side or the FM modulation mode - didn't seem as clear as the cassette input - which was even more unsightly. The XM Commander in my current vehicle - Acura MDX looks like a factory install and the direct connect into the FM antenna line produces very clean sound. However, I may purchase the direct connect feed and use the RCA jacks off the Trek main module (which you can hide away anywhere to connect all the wires). Like I said, it's a very clean and professional looking application. Oh, and the remote is great too. Especially for scanning XM or selecting stations without taking your eyes off the road.
The best XM receiver. Period........2007-01-10
I own two of the XM Commanders, and I couldn't be happier. They are the size of the actual remote (appx. 1.5" x 4"), so they are very compact and will fit in places the other XM units won't. The sleekness of the unit also makes it look more like a factory install, and it's less likely to get in the way of any knobs or controls in the vehicle. It's also hard wired, which is nice since the wire can be hidden during install giving it a clean look to your interior. On the record, I also own the XM unit that fits in the XM boombox, and the Commander is easily the best looking and easiest to use. However it's up to your personal tastes and style, although you won't go wrong with this purchase.
great unit.......2006-06-30
I had the XM Commander professionally installed. At this time for my car the only option was with the FM Mod. The sound quality is good, as any FM station is. A unit worth installing.
Only a few intems could be improved.
First, the display unit could have a scrolling option so that in some cases you can see the entire group or song name. Maybe a smaller size font could be used.
Second, the buttons on the display unit are so small that it is hard for full size fingers to find the correct one. The remote works wonders in this area.
Third, the tune select could be set up so that you could select the artist or the song. As it is if you select a tune it is that artist and that tune.
Overall I would certainly purchase the unit again. Well worth the money.
XM Might be great... but not with this receiver.......2005-02-24
I purchased this receiver after quite a lot of research. I was looking for a way to listen to better music than is played in my small Arizona town. Satellite radio seemed to be the best alternative. Although servicewise, Sirius plays slightly better music (I have Sirius free through my Dish Satellite at home) their equipment is terrible (very basic). With that said I chose XM.
I installed this receiver after about 1 hour. The reason it took so long was simply the power hook up instructions were not very clear (this was solved by hooking into the radio power).
This unit uses a wired FM Modulator. In other words, your antenna cable goes into the modulator and there is an output from the modulator that goes into the back of your stereo. This modulator was the root of the problem. When hooked up properly it completely degraded the incoming signal from the antenna. In other words, the few FM stereo stations that were quite strong using the antenna alone were mostly garbled and full of static with the modulator hooked up. The only way I was able to fix the static issue was by unplugging the modulator and antenna. I wired the antenna back into the stereo and taped the modulator cable next to the antenna. This gave me the same quality output but got rid of the static issue. In either configuration, the output volume was also grossly inadequate. Even with the FM signal at max level the volume was very quiet. Because of this you would get a huge volume difference when switching from XM fed FM stations to CD.
Based on all these reason I finally took the XM Commander back to Best Buy and bought a Delphi's XM SKYFi2 receiver which I highly recommend. On a side note, XM was able to switch my membership between the old to new receiver in about 5 min.

updated versions.......2007-01-03
well the little toy helped me to continue recieving Sat. signal and worked well for its purpose. I had the 1st generation somewhat Sirius Antenna system where it had 2 wires. now updated to a single wire. so also i had to change the Roof mounted antenna to single wire as to the reason for this splitter unit.
Beware this is not a spliter to hook up to 2 multiple radios.......2006-01-25
The review above states you can split the signal of the sat and hook up multiple radios. This is incorrect as I just learned. TERK says you can not split the sat signal. This is made for the TERK SIR 3 Antenna's and the old style Dual input receivers. It will not match up with the SIR-EXT50 cables either.
Can be Used as Antenna Splitter.......2005-11-30
This item can also be used to split the Sirius signal off of one antenna into two recivers in your home. You'll need two 50 feet extension wires from TERK SIR-EXT50 one for each of the splitter ends. Just plug the antenna wire into the single side, then out of both the others comes a split signal. The signal is not lowered in quality. For those of us who have 2 Sirius receivers in the house, this saves on having two antennas.
I know the directions on the container say it's for the older receivers. However it DOES work! This splitter is set for the same frequency of Sirius, and WILL work. Trust me. The "higherups" would rather you purchase an antenna for each receiver, but you don't have to. Don't say it won't work until you actually try it. I have had mine one TERK SIR-6 antenna split into one Sportster Replay 2 (previously a PNP2) and a PNP3 for for over a year now. If it cannot be done, why have I been splitting my sirius signal with no problems?

Great Antenna For Big Rigs & RVs.......2007-03-31
I bought this antenna for use on my Kenworth T600 truck. The smaller antenna that comes with the car accessories kept falling off the truck even if I used velcro and tape. The smaller antenna also does not have a long enough cable to reach some of the higher locations on a big rig truck.
The Terk XM Antenna works well because it comes with two different types of mounting options. (1) You can use the mirror mount to attach it to any round tubular type mirror arm. My Kenworth does not have the tubular mirror arms, but the application still works by using a longer nut/bolt combination available from your local hardware store. (2) Your second option is to use the pressure mount hardware to attach the antenna to any other edge on the truck or RV. It is perfect for mounting the antenna to the top back area of the air dam or to the side back fairings if you don't have an air dam.
My only small complaint and reason for 4 stars instead of 5...
...There doesn't seem to be enough cable (even with the longer one that comes with this model over the normal ones) if you plan to attach it to the back of your truck, such as up on the air dam. You almost need to mount it in this location to get it away from your CB antennas. I first tried mounting it on the mirror arms, but I found many drop-outs on any eastward heading routes since the XM antenna was not high enough on the truck. Supposedly the CB antennas can interfere with the XM antenna if they are mounted too close, which leaves the top of the truck (on the air dam) as the highest location away from the CB antennas. If you are willing to drill a hole in the sleeper or cab then there is plenty of cable to run it inside your truck, hide it behind interior walls, and have it run up and out of your dash area to the XM radio. But without drilling a hole, you have to run it down the back of the sleeper, under the cab and up through any rubber pass-through you can find. By that point you've wasted most or all of the cable length, which limits where you can position the radio.
All in all, great antenna with better overall reception than the run-of-mill XM antennas.

Terk Satellite Radio 50' Indoor/Outdoor Antenna Ext Cable.......2006-03-17
Received the item promptly. It was as advertised. All connections were easily done. And it has worked flawlessly since it received it. I would recommend it to anyone who needs an extended lenth to receive xm signals.
Works well BUT.............2006-02-19
It is a very good product ,but the problem I had was that all of my antenna's connectors are 90deg. You can still use it like this but the rubber boot will not cover the connection. I purchased another antenna and still had to remove parts to get it to work.It was kind of a pain but wish I could have found more specifications before my purchase.

Difficult location - excellent reception.......2007-08-06
Last winter we purchased an XM Roady for the car and a Home Kit for the house. We live in a canyon where the XM satellites are just above the horizon. We are surrounded by pine and oak trees. Signal strength from the supplied indoor antenna varied between one and two bars, but it worked well enough.
Well, it worked until the leaves appeared on the oak trees. The signal started cutting out. By late June we couldn't bear to listen to it anymore. I cut down a couple of small oak trees and the signal improved but still cut out enough to be annoying.
We purchased the Terk antenna rather than cut more trees. I hooked the Terk to a 50-foot coaxial cable and dropped it on the ground on the southwest side of the house for test. Went back in the house and hooked it up to the Roady Home Kit receiver and had the maximum four bar signal strength.
I did have one problem. When I decided to purchase the Terk antenna Amazon suggested I also purchase an XM EXT50 indoor/outdoor antenna cable. So I did. Turns out that is the wrong cable for the XM Roadie Home Kit. All I needed was a coaxial cable with two female connector ends.
XM Outdoor Antenna.......2007-05-23
The antenna arrived quickly from Amazon and had all necessary parts. I took advantage of an existing mount to add the XM antenna. I only needed to add cable to lead into the existing house wiring to get to the room where I have the XM radio.
At my northern California location I have a solid bar on the signal meter for SAT1 and SAT2 is nearly 2/3 strength. It is so much better than the antenna that came with the radio could get in an interior location. With the strong signal I may consider using a splitter so my wife can access it when she is listening in a different location in the house.
Magic.......2007-03-31
XM was the only alternative when the last Classical FM station in South Florida was turned into a Hip Hop station. I love the service all except for the fly in the ointment that sometimes the signal is flawless and other times it fades in and out like an echo in the alps. I bought extensions to position the antenna in every possible angle and position with no success. I did a search yesterday after seriously considering tuning my XM receiver with a sledge hammer, and found this Terk on Amazon and had it overnighted. All I can say is for the first time in a year I have a consistent clear signal and uninterrupted music. I think part of the reason is that you use coax cable to connect it to the receiver unit; in my case the Polk Audio XRt12. I had been using the supplied cable and antenna which is thinner and smaller. Back to loving satellite radio. Highly recommended if you have trouble with your signal.
Works great.......2007-02-13
Got this over two years ago. Have it hooked up on my roof and connected to a Delphi repeater. Get great signal throughout the house. Even in the basement.
Will buy again if I ever buy a vacation house.
Terk Satellite Radio Outdoor Home Mount Antenna Works Well.......2007-01-09
I've mounted this Antenna on my roof and hooked it up to a repeater in my third-story attic using coaxial cable. The repeater sends the satellite signal throughout the house. This has worked very well. My satellite radio now picks up the signal anywhere in the house without a long satellite antenna attached to it.

Works perfectly.......2007-07-28
Adequate cord length provided without the hassle of too much excess to conceal; quick & easy installation; clear signal.
Good for computer playback and control.......2007-06-07
I bought this for computer playback and control.
I cannot speak for the in-dash features but all the people complaining about the radio forgetting presets it's the head unit (your radio) and not this tuner device that is forgetting the presets.
I built a cable to control this via RS-232 port on my computer and have the hardware to add TOSlink optical output, but I haven't soldered that part in yet.
The device is impossibly small and compact--really amazing.
I had to really struggle to pry/grind/snip/file the FAKRA connector off the antenna jack. I'm not sure why the locking connector is needed in a car, anyway, because the antenna plug firmly stays connected without the FAKRA connector.
The device supports the extended 32-character song/artist feature if your computer software or head unit supports it (I have never heard of any automotive head unit capable of handling the extended PAD data, but it's supported by this little device).
This is jsut the receiver, performance depends on other things..........2007-03-28
A lot of people seem to be complaining about what their head unit manufacturers and installers managed to do with this thing, that's not an issue for the receiver itself.
Basically you need this, which is the receiver and the antenna, then you need an adapter to connect it to a head unit, and finally you need a suitable head unit.
The receiver works fine, the audio quality is OK and 95% of the time it just does its job. Once in a while it fails to start and you have to reset it by switching the car off and on again. But once on it always continues to function well.
Now the bit that this unit isn't responsible for...
I use this with a 2006 Alpine head unit along with the appropriate adapter, you switch it on and it works, you tune it and you get a different channel. You can display any of the track information, though not the stock quotes and all that garbage. But then you shouldn't be reading the display on your radio while driving!
The Alpine head unit uses a AInet connection to the adapter which allows chaining to other Alpine compatible units, like their CD changer, but it also has a direct connection to an iPod. So I get iPod, XM, terrestrial radio, CD and CD changer all in one neat package.
Terk & Sony - The worst combination ever.......2007-02-12
While I can't speak for other people who may be buying a Terk XM Direct kit for their brand of stereo, I can speak for those considering buying this device for their Sony. Simply put, it SUCKS! First of all, when having it professionally installed, I was told that I would loose my auxillary input, which is the main reason I originally bought my Sony stereo, so I could plug my ipod and Sirius satellite into it. Now, I was told, I would need to go to Radio shack and get one of those tacky A/B switches and mount it under my dash if I wanted to use the auxillary input. This was unacceptable to me, so I just gave up my aux input and let them install the Terk Sony XM Direct kit.
Once the install was complete, the next wave of pain began! The activation process that XM uses completely sucks! They instructed me that I need to leave my car on for a minimum of 30 minutes, and up to 4 hours to receive the activation signal. Of course, this is a problem for someone who drives 10-15 minutes each way to work, and most of my trips are fairly short, so I found myself sitting in my car in a parking lot waiting for the stupid thing to activate, and it never did. 3 or 4 days later, and several phone calls, I finally decided to just leave the keys in my ignition, in the accessory position, and leave my radio on and hope and PRAY that my car does not get stolen. Thank god it didn't, but my XM Radio finally activated. Now this probably doesn't speak for this perticular product, but I just wanted to warn anyone who is getting XM for the first time, make sure you're planning a road trip, or you don't mind sitting in your car!
Continuing my list of disapointments came when I realized that EVERY SINGLE TIME I turn my car off, or switch from XM to CD, the stupid Sony unit looses my DSP and EQ selections, I have to press the DSP button and the EQ buttons each time I turn the car on or switch to XM! Who the heck invented this anyway?
Lastly, the stupid thing only displays the artist on the display of my radio, and sometimes that doesn't even work. That being said, this is the WORST in dash integration for XM I have ever seen. And to make matters worse, in January of this year XM made a terrible decision to further compress and process the audio, so the audio quality of the XM is MUCH worse then listening to streaming radio on the internet, or even Sirius for that matter. In fact, if you take out all the static, FM SOUNDS BETTER THEN XM. I'm about ready to rip this thing out of my car and just go back to my exteranal Sirius and IPOD units! Oh and one final thing, this thing takes up BOTH the line input and the CD changer, so don't even think about having a CD changer if you're going to use this thing!
wuzup lilbro.......2007-01-10

Great for all you needs!.......2007-03-02
If you have a car that has a stereo that is xm ready then what the hell are you waiting for? This product is so much better then having the external tuner on your dash or in your windshield. I bought this not to long ago and I hooked it up in my Escape and activated it by calling them and within 20 minutes I was listening to XM radio again but this time it was through the radio and I didnt have to tune to a FM station and all I have to do is switch the sources and then push the presets on the screen ( i have a in dash DVD touch screen) and it shows the station name in the preset bar and once I push it. the title and artist and channel is all displayed. It is great goes very good with the Jensen in dash DVD player, because this is the only product you need to buy for the jensen unlike with other deck you have to buy a Smart Digital Adapter that way it has power but with Jensen no need for that just buy this and your are good oh yea you will need double ended RCA cables!

XM Satellite Car Roof Antennna.......2007-01-23
It was easy to install, has more than enough cable, and works everywhere.
Highly recommended.......2007-01-09
Magnetic mount perfect for my installation. I am using as a roof mount at my office. Attached to an outside AC unit, on roof works very well.
Decent.......2006-08-28
Same as others, my OE antenna failed. This replacement seems better. Its wire is heavier, still limber enough to fit in. Antenna pod is not noticeably smaller than the original. It has the late-model pink connector; but you get a sturdy adapter that fits the Roady very well and connects more solidly than before. Happy enough, would be happier if it cost $20 less. There's still a certain new-tech ripoff factor afflicting this XM equipment.
Great Antenna.......2006-03-17
Works better than the original and is much smaller. Can hardly been seen sitting on the vehicle. I had my doubts when I saw the size, but no more. No problems at all.
Terk XMicro2 XM Satellite Car Antenna, new smaller size.......2005-10-17
This item was purchased because the original antenna failed after 2 years because of a design problem allowing moisture to enter the antenna. This new version works well and may get even better reception than the original, but is smaller in size. So far it seems like a definite improvement over the original antenna that came with the radio.
