This product is excellent. Holds very strong with just the glue. Its a must have for all your expensive gear in a college dorm. I have it attached to my 32'' Viewsonic N3200w LCD TV and my Mac Pro Tower.

Just be very careful not to get the glue on your fingers, it will pull your skin off if you let it sit.

Due to several equipment changes I have bought several B
ulldog Security kits. So far have had no problems. Makes a great theft deterent and seems very strong and would take a theft quite a while to remove secure pads from equipment and/or cut cable. Only thing I wish Belkin would sell the secure pads only, I have 5 very good cables that I keep having to replace.

This kit is very easy to use. The instructions are simple, the cable is plenty long enough to connect several pieces of equipment. If the glue truly holds tight, and the cable and padlock truly cannot be cut, it should be a real deterrent to theft. Beware: the glue is very fast drying, so keep your fingers out of it. Nextag.Com showed the best price as $19.14 ranging to $32, so Amazon (as usual) has the best price!

this security system works well. setup was very easy components are high quality. i was able lock down my sons computer and monitor to the desk in his dorm room. the length of the cable was more than adequate. most important of all the system came at a very reasonable price.

Never Any Problems.......2007-08-03

I'm absolutely baffled by the previous complaints. It took maybe a total of 10 minutes to figure out how to insert the lock into my laptop security slot, then lock it. And I'm not the most mechanically-inclined person. It works very similarly to that of a bicycle lock, which means the password is always whatever the numbers read as you inserted the other end of the lock and latched everything, then you just twist the numbers to read something else and Ta-Da its locked. The retractable cord is a huge bonus. My boyfriend actually "stole" mine so I have to buy him one in order to get mine back.

This Locking System is GARBAGE.

I have 20 of these for a set of 20 laptops that we use as a training lab.

1) These locks are difficult to operate as all parts of the lock turn.
2) The mechanism is difficult to work and prone to problems because of the way the flip-switch on the back of the lock sits.
3) We have had 3 of these locks freeze up. NO combination will open them. 4) 2 times I have had to use a hack saw to remove them from the laptop.

I recommend that you DO NOT BUY this lock!!!

I don't understand why is that plastic peace for, it just works to shoe people it is secured and as case for the locker but is really big, ugly and sensible if I would steal a computer with that locker I would try brake that plastic case, would be easier than cut the cabe.

Anyway, it works and the locker operation is complicated in a first view, but when you know how it works it is really good and easy to use.

Portable, but a little difficult to set up.......2007-02-09

WHen I got this i set the lock and attached it to my laptop, when i tried to remove it it would not unlock. After an hour or so i figured out what combination the lock had act registered, but after figuring that out I have no trouble at all. So if you get this be careful in setting the combo. Otherwise a god product, that is very portable.

The lock worked well, perfectly, for 11 months.
Yesterday, I put the lock as I always do, and in the evening, when I was going home after work, the lock didn't open anymore!!!
I stayed one hour trying to open it, but nothing. I came back this morning more calm (yes, it made me pretty stressed that MY lock locks me) and decided to try combinations around the one that I had. I first moved each digit separately (the top one, then the second top one, etc). Then I moved two digits simultaneously (I was going to do the two top ones, then the two middle ones, etc.), and it opened! the combination changed from 78XX to 67XX!!!
Now, I doubt Targus will replace my item, since they will probably think that there is no problem with it (because now it is working again, but the with new combination that the lock self-set).
Bottom-line: don't buy this. I researched other models over the net, and all seem to have problems. The ones with keys are easy to pick, and Kensignton's combination lock seems to work well only with right side lock slots (mine has a left-side lock).

Workable lock with glaring weakness.......2007-01-13

This lock works as advertised. It is small and unobtrusive so that it can be easily transported. Moreover, it is extremely easy to use. However, it does have one glaring security weakness. Namely, the tumblers do not automatically reset once you unlock your iPod. If you take the lock with you, this is not a problem. However, there is a high probability that users like me who leave the lock at work will unlock their iPods and leave the lock on their desks where anyone with access can view it. If you do not manually turn the tumblers after unlocking your iPod, this means that your combination will be in plain site for any unscrupulous individual who will then be able to take off with your iPod the next time you have it locked on your desk unattended.

I purchased this product to help keep my laptop secure. The product is very suseptible to interference and thus easily confused. I have walked away 25 to 30 feet and the device did not lock my system. I have been sitting at my desk typing away and the device has kicked in. The troubleshooting instructions tell you that it is may be receiving interference. I tried moving the lock around using a USB extension cable with no success. You may walk away from the system thinking it is going to lock and it does not. This can be dangerous. I strongly urge you to say away from this product until it is improved. I don't have this problem with other RF and Bluetooth devices.

My combination slipped when at Starbucks and it was only pure luck that I was able to get it to release. When I looked at the combination afterwards, some numbers were stuck halfway. NOT GOOD and a scary experience. I threw it out on the spot and ordered another cable online that has a key lock. It is well worth it - don't trust this product!!!!
