I have high hopes for these BAT 181 units. The BAT 026 that came with the tools are going belly up in a few short years, very little shelf life, loss of run time, approaching junk status, will run the flashlight for 5 min. if I'm lucky. Thinking about calling Bosch about the BAT 026 units. DeWalt and Makita have been perfect in all respects.

I compare this to my makita batteries same voltage this battery out performs the makita by far. Believe me, I have been using makita for ten years now and believe that they make the toughest tool in the world but thier nickle metal batteries are a dissapointment they just don't go the distance. especially if you charge them too many times in a day.

A FRESH REVIEW ON AN UPDATED PRODUCT..........2007-09-22

I received my Bosch PB10 job site CD/radio a few days ago. It appears Bosch has resolved much, if not all, of the issues with reception that plagued others' experience noted previously.

Out of the box, plugged the unit in, raised the rubber whip-style antenna from the top, and powered it up. The digital tuner worked flawlessly, and after skimming the manual, programed 9 of my favorite FM channels; not noticing any channels that wouldn't "lock-into" immediately, even those closer to the bottom end of the frequency range.

CD/MP3 player worked great in both formats (CD-Audio and MP3 Audio). "Bosch Sound" EQ setting on this model makes a huge sound-quality difference in compare to other small radios. Many things can be plugged into this Bosch unit, and with exception of the not-yet-tested battery charger (I don't own any Bosch-brand rechargeable tools), all work well.

Hands down, this is the toughest, most versatile CD radio I've ever owned; and to give Bosch credit, is presently working well as expected from a quality brand. I'd given it 5 stars, but have yet to test it downtown (where buildings and rogue signals would give any radio a run for it's money).

What do you want in a jobsite radio?.......2007-09-21

It's a jobsite radio/charger, not a Bose Home Theater. I don't expect surround sound out of a radio/charger - just something other that saws, hammers and drills in the background to break up the clamor. I picked mine up at a salvage place for $70 (bent handle and all). I've found that the FM reception is good even in a brick and steel building. I've used the remote to switch songs and volume on the CD player from 15'. I also like the convienence of having 4 GFCI outlets available. The complaints here have been about the level of sound volume and I agree to some extent - it could be alittle louder. Even if Bosch made it loud enough to drown out a saw, don't you think the neighbors next door or your co-workers that don't like your music selection would be telling you to turn it down anyway. I've used it while fishing on the beach at Hatteras and its loud enough to drown out the surf so thats good enough for me. I like the built in cd player, my other (Dewalt)radio charges quicker but for the most part, since I got the Bosch unit the Dewalt unit stays in the truck. I personally haven't had a problem with CD's skipping. For those whose scratched CD's skip, help yourself out by burning a new one. For all practical purposes, this is a good product that works for me.

Only picks up Spanish radio!.......2007-09-02

I have been to several job sites with Bosch radios, and all the only thing playing was Spanish radio! I've seen plenty of reviews complaining about reception, but the Spanish stations seem to come in fine.

the mp3 function and play back is great the sound is loud but it work the best with the EQ on your own custom setting it has great sound and yes it durable and the 4-way GFCI protected outlet is drop I use it in side and out because i got the Ipod dock and it is well built and it is not very expensive depending on where you buy it. It is just what I need to go with my Ipod.

I have never submitted a product review before, but I feel so strongly in this case that I felt compelled to do it. And I am sorry to have to agree with many reviewers here: Bosch has failed to deliver even on the basics with this product. From the reviews, it seems possible that half of us received quality, dependable radios, and the other half got scuds. If that's the case, then I fall into the latter camp. I'll list four complaints:

(1) The radio reception is poor enough that it overshadows many of the unit's useful features. Any manufacturer, especially one so respected as Bosch, had better master the basics before spending time on luxury features (like the DC adapter). My unit received the "updated" antenna when it took a tour of the Bosch repair facility late last year, and it still gets poor reception -- even though I tune into radio stations with strong signals in a major urban center (Minneapolis). The radio is so fickle that I often find I have to adjust the antenna like those old TV rabbit ears in order to even get a scratchy signal. And do any of you also notice that the reception grows and fades as you walk around the room, even though the radio is sitting in the far corner? Come on, Bosch!

(2) Ditto what others have said about the effect of temperature. In cold weather, this radio doesn't work at all. I have to keep the unit above 45 degrees in order for it to even reliably turn on. Needless to say, I'm not thrilled when I have to leave my $170 jobsite radio at home when I work outside on cold days. It's especially frustrating because in these same conditions my $15 GE alarm clock radio will work just fine!!! Agh. So another basic: if you're going to charge $170 for a radio, it should work in the most extreme conditions. In fact, at that price it should meet some sort of military specifications.

(3) Mobility: this thing is HEAVY! It makes the DeWalt jobsite radio(s) feel like featherweights. In trying to make an invincible radio, Bosch shouldn't render it immobile. Like many of you, I work hard enough already without having to lug a heavy radio everywhere.

(4) The CD player occasionally stops playing for indiscernible reasons. The media are clean, free of scratches. Bass is not turned up and causing CD to skip. CDs are originals, not cheap blanks from Wal-Mart. And still the player occasionally decides not to play.

I own perhaps a dozen Bosch jobsite tools, and this is the only one with which I can find major fault. Good reception and dependable operation are NOT too much to ask; and a lighter radio with a more dependable CD player would certainly be appreciated. Any jobsite radio with an MSRP of $298 should garner universal and resounding praise. But Bosch has clearly fallen short, and needs to take our criticism to heart and completely redesign this product. To now repackage the same basic design as an "Advanced" unit is little more than a marketing ploy. Until I see Bosch's TRULY new design hit the shelves, I'll be warning all my coworkers to keep their hard-earned money away from this radio.

I have used battery tools (drills & saws) almost daily for years. My rule has been to always been if I am using a tool always be charging an extra battery for that tool at the same time. Now I don't have to be as carfull the shorter charge time is way more of an inprovement than I would have thought.

It's a Ni-Cad.......2004-07-11

The BAT030 is a NI-Cad battery. This is good because the Ni-Mh have not been as good as promised. They do have the memory effect but not as much but they have been found to not endure as long as Ni-Cad in high current applications such as in 14.4 V power tools and up. They have been found to perform better in low current applications such as laptops and cell phones.

In addition, you can reduce the memory effect by not leaving the battery on the charger after it is fully charged and exercising the battery by running it down to nothing about once a month.

This Battery May be great but there is NO information about what type of battery it is. Either Bosh dropped the ball in their info from manufacturer section or it is NOT a cool new type nickel metal hydride type with NO memory problems and toxicity problems like the old ni-cads or plain ole lead acid gell cells.

Extra Battery for ease of tool usage........2000-09-06

By my calculation, an extra battery goes a long way to save time when using multiple tools in the Bosh cordless tool set. After all isn't the purchase of the family of Bosh cordless tools for the purpose of saving time and thus money? If you are going to use the Bosh saw and the Drill/Driver then having a third battery allows you to have a battery in each machine while the third recharges. By the way, "Home Improvement Enthusiast" is a silly title since anyone purchasing such an expensive professional grade set of tools is most likely to be in the home improvement trade and not a homeowner.

About Surveillance Camera Technical Features
Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away.
