These units were sold by Radio Shack two years ago when I was looking for an inline amp for two vastly different purposes. #1 was to allow the Wife and Son and myself to all enjoy movies on the Laptop enroute to and returning from a Cancun vacation on airlines. It performed flawlessly! #2: As a fluke, I put it inline with a small MP3 player that was powered by one AAA battery and the aux input on our 2006 Honda Goldwing audio system. I wasn't looking for volumn as much as lowering the output on the MP3 player significantly to extend the life of its one small AAA powersource. Now I don't leave home without it!

Better Than the Manual.......2007-02-12

I am in between on this one. I agree that much of the material is available in the User's Manual. However, the topics are organized differently and presented in a format that is easier to follow. The manual is a user's guide describing the many functions of the camera. The book takes this information a step further and explains the purpose of these functions and how to make the most of them. The book does seem to be written by an enthusiast of the camera and may not be totally objective.

Everything is OK except for one overlooked feature. When you turn it off, it turns off unamplified sound also. A bypass feature would be more convenient. That way if could be left in place when amplification is not needed.

Good while it lasts.......2005-08-31

These headphones broke after about 3 months of use. The wires got tugged on JUST a little...and snap...the headphones became inoperable.

On the sound side, they were decent, although I would have preffered more bass amplification. If you haven't had the luxury of listening through high end headphones, you will not notice any difference. The earpieces were also movable, making it a snug fit for people like me, who wear eye-glasses.

Don't hold up.......2005-06-03

The wife bought me a 20GB Dell DJ for Father's Day last year (great gift, Honey..!).
I can't stand earbuds, and my old Sony MDR's foam earpieces were wearing out, so I went out and got the AHP212.
I figured I'd get an upgrade in sound quality and more comfortable phone. I ride an hour on the train to work every day, so I get a LOT of use out of these.
Well, 6 months in, they've farted out. The in-line volume control is shorting out, causing me to lose the right channel.
I've got to fiddle with it constantly, and any tiny jar causes the sound to cut out.
Also, the cord has pull 1/4 inch out of the left phone, leaving exposed wire, which occassionaly shocks me.
All in all, a big dissapointment.
Do not buy these.

I was surprisingly very pleased with these headphones. I love the long cord and volume control. Wouldn't hesistate to purchase these at all. Much better than the awful earbuds that came with my iPod. Sound quality is amazing.

Good value for money.......2006-07-05

The performance of these Advent speakers is yet to be adjudged since I dont have any 6.1 DVDs that can give me an idea of how these speakers sound. However when listening to FM radio I find the sound to be pretty good. As an Amazon.com customer for over 6 years I have always found their service to be excellent.

Outstanding center speaker!.......2006-06-03

I purchased this speaker not completely knowing what to expect. There seems to be a general lack of information available. Advent used to be known for outstanding quality speakers but after changing hands several times it was impossible to know if this was still the case. At the budget speaker price point that this was offered at, you would not expect something as good as this. While I am not an audiophile, as a professional musician and movie lover I do try to look at speakers seriously.

The build quality of this speaker is outstanding, even better than a lot of products that cost three times as much. The fit and finish were superb. The cabinet appears to be constructed of 5/8" MDF which is unheard of at this price and it has gold plated binding posts. The cabinet is also internally braced and ported at the rear as well.

I was truly impressed by the sound of this speaker. For a speaker of this size, the bass is outstanding. I also have a couple of Sony towers with 12" woofers and this thing manages to keep up with them no problem although it does not quite get as low frequency wise. It does have much better bass frequency response than just about any other center I could find and it shows.Out of the box, the mid-range and treble are a little weak, but after break-in they are just fine. My surround system consists of JBL N24's and the quality of the treble and mid-range are easily as good if not better than those and of course the N24's are no match for it in the low range.

Bang for the buck, you will probably not find a better center for under $150 than these, and these are substantially less than that. I upgraded from an old Sony center and the difference is night and day.

Best Center-Channel Speaker for your money!.......2005-04-14

This Center-Channel Speaker is fanatasic. The sound quality is great. It covers the whole range of sound (from your lows to your highs) and delivers great dialog/voice. Don't let the low price of this Center-Channel Speaker fool you. At a $69.99 price tag you really can't go wrong.

I should have listened to R. Sharon's review!.......2006-12-09

I cannot state my review any more clearly than the previous reviewer. Unfortunately, I did not believe it. "How could Adaptec put the wrong plug on this power cord?", I thought to myself. So I went ahead and purchased, and boy do I feel stupid. R. Sharon was correct. The Adaptec card needs a 3.5 mm outside plug, and this power cord comes with a 5.5 mm outside. Do not buy!!!

Doesn't fit........2005-06-11

I bought an Adaptec 1420A USB 2.0 card for an older laptop that only had USB 1.1 ports. Being a cardbus card it is not inherently powered thus won't fully work with USB devices needing a powered connection (IPOD, IPAQ, etc.). It does have a power socket that can make it a powered card by accepting power from an external source.

I next bought this cable ACK-1420A-USB, which was apparently designed specifically for that card. It seemed like a reasonably elegant solution at the time -- taking power from the USB 1.1 ports, so I could use the card while working from battery (with no AC connecton available).

Problem: the connector on the cable does NOT fit the card. It is far too big. It also did NOT come with any adapters to make it fit the card it was supposedly designed to fit. Adaptec apparently does not realize a 5.0mm plug won't fit a 3.5mm hole!

How does a cable NOT fit the card it was specifically designed to fit? How can it be "off" by so much?? Oooops!!

I've had HPs for years. Decided to try this after seeing some reviews. Performace is excellent. Networking easy to set up. I like the Paperport software. Can do quick scan and OCR from any of 6 workstations for up to limit of document feeder tray. Cost of purcahse and operation low. Also like separate drum & cartridge combo.
