This product does exactly what it tells you it does. It is very cheaply priced compared to most of them out there, it works well, and does exactly what it should. I mostly use this item while in my car, I do have a little background noise now and then but it is very minimal. I would prefer that the ear piece were smaller it does hurt if I wear it for a long period of time, but I don't prefer this type of ear bud of any kind anyway. For the price it is a great product, buy it here if you plan to get one, don't pay more for it elsewhere.

The CentreCOM Micro Hubs are twisted pair hubs intended to connect up to eight IEEE 802.3 10Base-T network segments. In addition to the twisted pair interfaces, an IEEE 802.3 Attachment Unit Interface (AUI) is provided for attachment to other Local Area Network (LAN) media through an external transceiver. With this interface, the hubs can connect directly to different LAN media such as thick or thin coax, fiber optic and twisted pair. The CentreCOM Micro Hubs have no configuration options, permitting easy installation and operation. These micro hubs utilize the latest IC and Surface Mount Technology (SMT), which increase functionality and reliability. The CentreCOM Micro Hubs are small in size yet they provide the complete functionality of large hubs including packet regeneration and network partitioning. The packet regeneration results in a higher performance network by regenerating preamble, retiming the data packets and extending collision fragments to ensure collision enforcement by all nodes. Each segment automatically detects the polarity of the receive pair and reverses should the pair be incorrectly installed. The IEEE-defined link integrity test function continually monitors the receive pair to ensure link continuity. It also includes a partitioning capability where each segment automatically disconnects itself after repeated collisions are detected. The hubs support jabber lock-up protection on all interfaces, preventing transceiver lock-up resulting from packets that exceed the maximum packet length. Network diagnostic LEDs are provided on the front of the CentreCOM Micro Hubs to aid in troubleshooting and fault isolation. There are two LEDs associated with each twisted pair segment and AUI that indicate packet "Receive" and "Port OK" (indicating an operational segment.) Additionally, there are three central LEDs indicating "Activity, " "Collision" and "Power."

This item showed a price of $157 bucks yesterday. A technical error showing an incorrect price is understandable. but amazon.com showed an 85% off sticker with the item's image !!

Kinder, gentler waking for the jumpy.......2006-03-23

I have always hated alarm clocks. Being wakened by a shrill bell, a morning DJ (EVIL!), or that horrible BEEEEP! BEEEEP! has always scared the willies out of me.

The Timex 4056 gives you several bird-based options (Rooster, seagulls, and birds) for your alarm, along with a slightly more civilized BEEP that's a tenor sax rather than a trumpet. I chose seagulls, and now my morning wake-up is like being mildly annoyed by the neighbors' pets, rather than being stabbed in the head with a big knife.

The clock also offers three ambient sounds to sing you to sleep or make a little white noise: ocean, waterfall, and chirping cricket. Fortunately, unlike real oceans, waterfalls, and crickets, you control the volume and duration.

I love this clock. The only reason I don't give it five stars is its stubborn refusal to go into the kitchen and make my breakfast. Though perhaps if I found it a 30-foot extension cord...nah.

Good basic alarm clock.......2006-02-21

This unit is a good basic alarm clock for those who don't want the standard annoying alarm that most digital alarm clocks come with. I found the bird wake sound to be the best, waking me gently. I like that the cycle gets a bit louder the second time around so that if you are in a deep sleep it can still wake you. One problem I have with it, the volume dial when set to the loudest point causes the sound to completely cut out. I assume it's a flaw just in my unit, not enough to go through the trouble of sending back. Also the unit is a bit bulky, the display is large, but I think they could have made the unit smaller without loosing any function.

This is great if you want to wake up to bird calls every morning, otherwise just go by a normal alarm clock!
