Great little camera.......2004-02-04

I got this camera in 1998 at a flea market for $30, the guy said he never put a battery in it, so he didnt' even know if it worked, so I was possibly buying a camera that didn't even work. I decided to try it.
I've had the camera for 6 years and haven't had one problem with it...and now that I have 2 kids, it has been dropped, etc, and still works better than any (non zoom) camera I've ever had. There is a feature that you can put 5 sayings on your pictures, but i've never used it. This camera went to Italy with me, and has travelled many stated in the eastern US, and still stands up to everything. if anything ever happens to this camera, I will buy another of the same exact style!!

Mine Broke!.......2003-12-28

After 18 months of treating this camera like gold and being reasonably satisfied with the quality of the images (as long as they weren't enlarged), one day it just stopped working with the lens partially extended, frozen in place. All the repair shops want $100 to fix it. For $100 I could buy a new one. It was cute while it lasted, but I've bought a Yashica T4 (the original - not the awful zoom remake with the same name) instead. It's not nearly as small, but this elph is just too fragile.

What a great little camera!! I got this for Christmas last year and since it's so small.. I take it with me wherever I go. The picture quality is great. There are three settings to choose from for picture size and you can add the date and time if you wish.
I'm not a camera professional by an means but if you're looking for a great little camera, this is the one.

I got this camera as a gift, and I LOVE IT! The only problem is, I was a volunteer for a charity event and it got stolen. I'm currently looking for another one!
The Elph Jr. is small, light-weight and easy to use! It has three different picture sizes, including panoramic! The APS film is much easier to use and pictures come out clear as a bell! The reason I love this camera is because it's not bulky, fits nicely in my purse/back pack/pocket and takes pictures just like, if not better than all those bulky overpriced cameras! It has a number of different language selections as well! All around, a great Camera and a great buy!

Easy to use, lets YOU focus on the pictures........2001-12-29

I bought this camera about a year ago, and I have been extremely pleased with it.

PROS:
-Small, fits unobtrusively in your pocket
-FAST f2.8 lense takes great pictures in low light
-Simple user interface. No hassels--it lets you focus on taking the pictures.

CONS:
-No mid-roll change. This is the one feature I wish it had, but it's really a perk rather than an essential, since I only shoot color print film in the camera anyway.
-APS film is grainier than 35mm film because it is a smaller format. I shoot with 200 speed film to reduce grain (not really the cameras fault, as this is a problem with all APS cameras).

I haven't had any problems with red eye using this camera. I don't like cameras that zoom because I think you take better composed pictures by physically moving closer to your subject. For the price, you can't get a better deal than this.

Perfect for my needs.......2007-09-06

I wanted a shutter release for my EOS Digital Rebel XT, and that's exactly what this product provides. I give it four stars instead of five because of the short cable on this device, which is not very useful or practical.

However, I did take the advice of John Nolley II (January 11, 2006) and purchased a 16-Ft extension cable and adapters, which works perfectly.

Here are the part numbers from Radio Shack:
- Part# 42-2493: Audio Extension Cable (16-Ft, Shielded) - $12.99*
- Part# 274-373: 1/8" to 3/32" adapter (for the end that plugs into camera) - $5.49
- Part# 274-397: 3/32" to 1/8" adapter (for the end that remote plugs into) - $3.99

*I think the 8-Ft cable was $7.99 (instead of the $12.99 for the 16-Ft one).

All total (before tax) - $22.47, which is a bit more than the $10 cited by John, but still totally doable (and I did not bother comparison shopping). It brings my total (remote plus cables etc.) to about $50. Worth it? I think so, since, as far as I know, there is not an existing Canon shutter release with a longer cable. Others may disagree. So far, I am quite satisfied with this product.

Works gr8 just too short of cord, fixable.......2007-08-27

Works as expected. Just way too short of a cord but very fix able if you have an Radio Shack close by. I picked up the following and now have an extra 20 ft now to the shutter button.

Get the following.

1 - 2740397 - 3/32"SPG-1/8"SJK
1- 2740373 - 1/8SPG-3/32"SJK
1 - 4202562 - GP,20FT 1/8INST EXT

Everything is working excellent now, have 20ft extra to take pictures. I believe there is a 50ft ext cord as well available.

The remote is awesome. When i first thought about buying i was a little concerned with the length of the cable. Well I got the remote, used it, and its great. Long enough for normal use. when used for BULB mode its awesome. I used it for the first time to photograph the Perseid Meteor Shower and couldnt be any happier. great tool.

WP-DC 12 Canon Waterproof Case.......2007-08-04

After ruining one camera at the beach I decided a waterproof and sandproof case was the answer for my new Canon camera. This case is a solid piece of workmanship that's made in Japan rather than, thankfully, China. As far as DBRoth is concerned, I can only say they were great, I received the case just 4 days after ordering it. Would buy from them anytime.

Useful addition for my Kit.......2007-07-29

Useful while taking photos using "Mirror Lock up" on a Tripod.

The construction quality is good. The switch also has a lock feature useful for "Bulb exposures".

What i did not like is that the switch plug fits only one way. This will prove tricky when you try to fit it when its dark. Be sure to practice this.

As a professional Photographer I know how important a good quality release button is. It has to be tough and dependable in all situations. I would still have the first one I bought 3 years ago had I not simply lost it.

Super Easy Remove to Use.......2007-05-14

This wireless remote is great. It's so easy to use with my Canon digital SLR Rebel camera. I just plug it into the port on the side of my camera, and then just start snapping away. It's made it easy to take self-portraits or to snap a photo without having to look through the viewfinder or hold my camera. Makes you feel like a professional. Love the fact that it's wireless so I can move around and you can see a wire hanging from the remote in pictures.

Zap-Shot.......2007-05-13

For remote shutter release, this product is vastly better then any oher product on the market. Bottom line - It works !!!. Since this works via RF, it is not subject to the limitations of the IR models. IR models are "blind" after about 6 feet and do not work at all in bright sunlight. Whereas, Zap-Shot being RF, it is good up to the manufacturers stated limit of 100 feet, is not limited by line of sight and works in any levels of brightness. Zap-Shot is perfect for group photos. No need to set the self timer and run. You simply stand in the group and fire off as many photos as you feel is necessary.

One note. You DO NOT have to point the Zap-Shot at the camera. You can descretely keep it in your pocket, out of view of the camera. Make it a point to do this so there is not a picture of you pointing it at the camera. Totally unnecessary. Hold the release such as it is out of sight.

Glad I Ordered It!.......2007-04-23

This remote does everything it says it does. It's small enough to hide in the palm of you hand and will work from across the yard so you can catch those action shots without your subject even knowing. You can even keep it in your pocket. For family group shots, I use it with the timer setting on the camera. That way I have enough time to slip the remote in my pocket and situate my hands. I'm glad I chose this one over the more bulky one (with a shorter range) made by cannon. In my opinion, this is the best remote out there!

Zap-Shot works great. Does everything is claims very well. Only problem is that it's very easy to press the wrong button as they are all very close together.

Good For the Price but Canon RS-80N3 is better made.......2007-08-06

I purchased the MA-A remote switch about two years ago and it worked fine for several months on my EOS 20D. I then took the switch on a photo workshop in the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah. The wind is always blowing there and very fine grains of sand are always airborn near the ground. I was there for about 30 minutes concentrating on some macro shots when I could feel the switch operating like it was gritty when I pressed the button. It was only a couple of minutes later it stopped working completely. I had to use the camera timer for slow shutter shots the rest of the day.

When I got back to the motel, I took the switch apart and could see the sand between the switch contacts. I was able to clean it out and the switch worked again. I later purchased the Canon RS-80N3 and could see a significant difference in build quality. I have used the Canon switch up until it was lost on a recent outing. Fortunately, I still had the old MA-A switch in the bag and was able to use it for several days. It made a great backup switch but I am going to purchase another Canon RS-80N3 remote switch since it is a better built product. I believe the RS-80N3 will hold up better in an environment that is not clean and dry. Once again you get what you pay for.

The only issue I have with this item is the connection to the camera is a bit akward, the end piece points to the back and can get in the way of handeling the camera. But works good, I took multi exposures at a time during fireworks and it did great

The product is very good, it is easy to use and seems to be well made, and at a much better price than I would expect to pay in the UK. Delivery is quicker than that quoted by Jessops, UK, to order me one from their shop. My only quibble is that the postage paid with the order was half of the actual postage price, however I assume that I pay for someone to mail it.
