I purchased the A10 last November to take to Saint Augustine for our anniversary. This camera is a joy to use. Simple to learn features, great pictures, Canon got it right with this baby. One word of caution: batteries, place them in correctly, or you may have a fire as I a previous reviewer had.
You won't regret the Canon A10.

Fabulous digital photos - cheap!.......2002-12-20
I bought this camera a year ago and haven't even touched one of my seven film cameras since. This fine piece by Canon is an exercise in simplicity and quality. While only 1.3 megapixels, it yields photos better than some other cameras with 2-3 megapixels. I don't know why. So easy to use! With a 3 year old grandson, I take a lot of photos. I mean a lot of photos. I would guess this camera has saved me its cost ...3-4 times in what I would have paid for film & processing. You, of course, need a computer and printer. It comes with only an 8 megabyte Compact Flash card (the "film") so belly up for something bigger right away. I just bought a 128 MB card. Don't forget that this "film" is reusable after you download to you desktop. As I said, I have seven other film cameras. None of them is as easy to use as this Canon. And the Canon shots are as good as anything else I shoot, except for the enlargability of my medium format Yashica. And imagine being able to review the shot you just took without the expense of a Polaroid. And if it's no good, just erase it and shoot again.
Excellent "volkskamera"........2002-12-15
After all the years and all the digicams I've owned, borrowed and/or tested, I've come to believe that the Canons are the most reliable of the lot. While this A10 may be an entry level model, it is also in many ways their very best value. It is well built and sturdy enough, not too large to carry easily in a purse (and in fact a bit easier to grip than are the Elph models, therefore making it easier to hold steady), and offers enough adjustable features for 99% of the digital photo takers whom I know. Happily, it will also function nicely in the automatic mode for folks who just want to point and shoot. The combination of an optical 3X zoom plus a 1.3 megapixel resolution is where I think most users will find their "sweet spot" in digicams. The 3X zoom is powerful enough to make itself useful in many non-portrait settings (sightseeing, sports, etc.) and the 1.3 megapixel resolution is more than adequate for computer viewing and storage, emailing, website posting and adequate for printing crystal clear enlargements up to 5" x 7" (and with acceptable results on 8" x 10" prints). Of course, the A10 offers all the expected niceties, such as easy connectability to your PC, good battery options (including disposables and rechargeables) and an almost infinitely expandable memory. Then there is the price; certainly the A10 is down in the APS range. This then is what I would call perfect digicam for the masses, a "volkskamera". No one who gets one will likely be the least bit disappointed.

High quality pictures.......2003-05-03
Clueless to the world of digital cameras, I knew that I wanted one that was easy to operate but high quality. After tons of online research I decided on the PowerShot A10. I LOVE my camera. It's easy to use, takes great pictures and the printer prints out high quality pics. I've taken this camera to baseball games and printed out action shots right then and there. However, the 8mb CF card this comes with is pretty worthless--only takes about 15 pics before it gets full. I bought a 256mb Dynacare CF card...and can now take upwards of 500 pics before it gets full. I highly recommend this camera for anyone!

The canon powershot A10 is an amazing camera for the price. It has features that the more expensive cameras have, but is one of the most user-friendly digitals I have used. A plus for this camera is that it uses common AA bateries. You can take about 200 pictures before replacing the batteries. This is the perfect camera to make the analog to digital jump. This camera also comes with some very handy software. With the included printer this is a must have for any level shutterbug!!!!

The 3G Technology GM-1556 Gem 15-inch monitor is a solid value, with a straightforward set of features you'll actually use and enjoy. Installation is as simple as it should be for an entry-level unit. Slide it out of the box, connect it to your PC, and you'll be up and running in five minutes or less. The tilt/swivel base attaches to the bottom of the monitor with swift ease.
The operation is standard; you'll usually just turn it on or off. A menu button also displays onscreen controls to alter brightness or contrast. We pushed both the brightness and contrast well beyond normal values to see how the unit would perform, and we were impressed with the resulting visible range. Other menu options let you access controls for the screen's vertical and horizontal position and size, as well as correct any geometric or color distortion. had this monitor for 6 months. no problems at all. after you have been gazeing apon a 14' packard bell monitor that the vertical and horizontal boundries change whenever, this monitor is spactacular. if you are used to a small screen, this monitor is great. easy on screen menus, and picture quality is supurb. i would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap quality screen.

Sometimes it realy doesn't matter if you buy a famous brand VS a generic. For example, canned peaches at the market. There isn't much difference between one brand and the next. But, my expaerience in buying computer monitors, specifically "Gem" and "3G" has taught me that the lower price also means lower quality, poor support and an over all lower value. I ended up having to return several units, and wasting much of my valuble time. In the end, I went ahead and bought a major brand and have been much happier.

this controller seems to work ok is nicer size than the mini pads. it lights green and has the hulk on it otherwise just like the spiderman controll. if you have this one ya might want to get the spiderman one to make a set. i have a previouse one of wolveriene with turbo but not lighted wish the lighted ones had turbo and that they re release the wolveriene one so it lights .

A novelty controller with real value........2003-10-02
Just in time for the release of excellent smash-'em-up game THE HULK for the PS2 console, Naki International has produced a customized Hulk controller. While it's not necessary in order to play THE HULK, it certainly adds a great deal to the experience, thanks to little touches on the part of the manufacturer.
The first thing one notices about the Hulk controller is that it's green...really green. Naki took a dynamic, threatening image of the Hulk looking downright diabolical and placed it smack in the middle of the controller. When the player holds the grips, he or she has the Hulk glaring out at him or her in the most unsettling way. The grips are, appropriately, decorated with images of Hulk's mighty fists.
Also appropriately, the Hulk controller is slightly larger than the standard Dual Shock 2 controller. For those with small hands, some of whom already have some difficulty with the usual PS2 controller, Naki's Hulk-sized grips will be even more of an issue. In addition, the L2 and R2 shoulder buttons are not curved and extra-large as they are on the Dual Shock 2, meaning they are not quite as ergonomically-sound as on Sony's controller.
The START and SELECT buttons are shifted onto the left side of the controller, away from the center. This clears the middle portion for the aforementioned picture of the Hulk, but can cause some confusion for those used to pressing certain buttons to be found in certain places. Matters are made worse thanks to the unusual font Naki chose to use that renders the labels unreadable at first glance. The button that switches the control from analog to digital-only remains in its usual position, but the light has been changed from red to a more Hulk-like green.
Changes to the standard controller design are more noticeable once Naki's Hulk controller has been plugged into the PS2. Besides already being very green, this controller has a green neon light inside that pulses and flashes according to signals it gets from the console. Most of the time it pulses in a slow breath-rhythm, but during load sequences, for example, it will flash rapidly. Naki has ramped up the vibration feature, as well, so the user will feel even the subtlest of "rumbles."
Control itself is solid. At times the Naki controller seems better than its Dual Shock 2 counterpart, without the need to crush the analog buttons to reach maximum depression, and with sharply responsive joysticks. Interestingly, it's only when the user wants to make small, delicate moves with the analog sticks that the Naki controller falls down; it seems almost too sensitive, so using it in a game where precision is a must might not be a great idea.
The Hulk controller is clearly a novelty, and only of interest to those who really, REALLY like the character it features, but it has enough good qualities to make it useful even when the fascination with the PS2's Hulk game has died down, and interests turn to other things.

What a POS.......2006-07-07
This DVD player is great for about two years. I owned two of them. They both wore out with light to moderate usage in only two years time. The first time I thought it was just a lemon. The second time, it is quite obvious it is a manufacturer's design flaw. You could set your watch by the perfect timing by which this player craps out.
Fixing the Remote Control Problem..........2004-06-21
Best investment I ever made. Now for fixing the remote... It's easy. The problem is that APEX mispositioned the phototransitor that senses the remote signal. The transistor is partially obscurred by the square opening in the chassis. Here's how to fix:
(1) Pop off the plastic window (it's just adhesived on). You can just leave it off (not recommended) or proceed to step two...
(2) If you want to replace it, look for the sensor in the lower right side of the unit. Now, CAREFULLY using a pair of needle nose pliers or tweezers, bend the transistor leads to shift the face of the transistor more towards the opening. This is not a delicate operation, but should be done by degrees - if you've never worked with electronics before, get someone who has a feel for such components.
(3) Stick the facplate back onto the doublesided adhesive that should have remained attached to your unit. If it needs more adhesive, you can use common rubber cemeent.
Your operating range should be about 3 to 5x what it was before!
That's it. APEX makes a fine unit (mine has been working for almost 3 years with daily use, and has performed flawlessly. Too bad QC didn't catch this sensor mis-alignment problem!
Burnt Out after a year.......2004-03-25
Be aware of this procuct. A little over a year and it will not read a disk. Trash.
$40 Labor after 90 Days.......2004-02-06
I bought this player at July 2003, it stops working right before Christmas. When I finally got connected to the APEX customer support (1-866-427-3946 and it's always busy), the lady told me it's a defect on the Laser Pickup and I need to send it in and pay $40 labor to fix it.
Question:When is a multidisk player NOT a multidisk player ?.......2004-02-01
Answer: When it comes from Apex. Based on generally good experiences I've have had with Apex gear, I bought the unit a year ago, and it has functioned properly, playing disks with multiple formats, but it DOES NOT SWITCH from one disk to another by itself, let alone from one track to another on another disk. This a fundamental requirement of a multidisk system, IMHO. I've been waiting for a firmware upgrade, but none has been forecoming. In short, don't buy this unit.

These cases are not as slim as most slim cases. Whereas with most slim cases I can fit two in a normal CD slot on my CD rack, with these I can only fit one. A dissappointment.
