A sturdy case. It does what it's supposed to do, which is to securely hold 72 DVD's or CD's. There appears to have been a slight design change as the handle that's shown in the picture is no longer there. None the less, I'm happy with it and have ordered another one.

I have a couple nylon softer-sided cases. Because the sides are stiffer and bubbled out a little bit on this one, I think this one will provide a little more protection when banging around behind the seat of the car. The item I received doesn't have a handle like the one in the picture; I'm fine with that, but it's worth noting.

It works great when you play your video from a camcorder to create a DVD. Be aware that if you create a slideshow with photos (from your digital cameras card) it can take quite a few hours depending on the amount of pictures on your card.For example I made up a DVD containing 1600 images and it took about 6 hrs to complete.

This just arrived and if you are considering purchasing this item know that notwithstanding the description above this burner does not connect to a computer via USB port. Amazon says they got the description from Sony. Sony says Amazon has it wrong but confirms that it is not designed for a computer connection like their previous models.
I'm sure it will work fine as a stand-alone burner but I was disappointed that there was an explicit representation made in the description that is not accurate.

Ok, the recorder arrived super fast and it's been WORKING perfectly ever since. I've read a lot of reviews, and here's some hints that might help those who never got it work:
If you have Windows XP and Vista, sinmply connect the recorder via your USB/WiFi port, your PC will install it automatically, no other actions needed.
If you like the recording software already installed on your PC - don't bother even open any CDs coming with the recorder - it works perfectly with ANY software (I checked it myself).
If someone's bothered that after installation the recorder appears like CD-ROM - don't. It still works as it's supposed to.
Basically that's it. I can't think of other problems:)

I don't know if the problem was the device or the software but I never could get it to work. I installed and uninstalled it several times to no avail so I took it to Staples and got one of their techs to try it and he got it to work. When I got home, it wouldn't work. So I gave up and sent it back.

I bought this Case Logic Shuttle for my 10" inch Phillips Portable DVD player. The player fits great and it has a cool DVD holder which fits securely in a front pouch so you can bring DVDs with you without luggging around their hard cases or another pouch. It also comes with a built in headphone splitter so two people can listen if your DVD player only has one jack built in.
My only complaint is that there is no real conventient place for me to store the DVD player's charger and Car/Airplane power adapter. I found a way to store them at the seam of the case but another small pocket somewhere would have been nice and made this case absolutely perfect!

I would advise against buying this case. It does not have any strap system to hold in the dvd player so you can safely watch the unit from inside the case. As others have written, there are no pockets to hold cables and there are only small outside openings - one for the disc holder and another for...? Maybe a plane ticket? For the price - which is not much - you seem to get just a basic black bag. Just not enough to protect the unit and hold the gear that goes with it. There is an earphone jack intended to allow easy access for in-case listening, but this is really a non-needed feature as you have to plug into one of the jacks anyway and you save maybe 2 inches of headphone cable? I'm sending this one back.

I bought the size larger than I needed because I read a review that you couldn't fit all the accessories into these cases. Getting the size larger allows me to also carry the outlet plug, the car charger, and a set of headphones along with the dvd player. It is a good case for the money.

For as expensive as seemingly nothing but a small bag, I'd expect a little more. The side pockets make it bulgy when you actually use them to store video cables or anything else. It should be more padded or at least have bigger outer pockets.
It works, but is overpriced for what it offers. Then again, all carry cases are overpriced.

This little machine is beyond amazing. My girlfriend and I bought ours this weekend and already have fixed over 100 dollars worth of cds that would otherwise be ruined. There is ONLY ONE down side to the Skip Dr. and that would be that it doesn't come with a power adapter and the batteries dont provide enough power to properly fix cds, however after buying the adapter from Radioshack we find this machine to be a helpful addition to our very large cd collection. With over 600 cds between the both of us this little wonder is going to be put to amazing use for years to come!

I picked up the automax skip dr. and have been very happy with it's performance. However, it has very real limitations, that I think may be leading to the bad reviews I have seen.
1) If there is a scratch on the label, your done for. Label side scratches destroy the data. Nothing can help there.
2) It will not remove the scratches completely. It polishes and cleans the surface enough. Scratches alone, don't usually cause skips, it's the dirt, oil and dust that gets trapped in scratches that causes a problem. Just cuz you can still see the scratches, doesn't mean it didn't work. It usually does
3) Bad disks need to go through twice! I have yet to find 3 runs to do better than 2, but a couple of bad disks needed to be run through twice to make playable.
4) Finally, don't skimp on the resurfacing fluid. The instructions say generous, and they mean generous!! If the disk isn't dripping one or two drops when you turn it vertical to put in the skip dr, it's not wet enough.
5) Buff those puppies real well. That is the manual step, and it sucks. But you really need to buff them clean.
After all that - the thing works great. I'm really perplexed at the number of bad reviews and can only guess that the unhappy people had really bad disks.

Based on the reviews I was reading - thought this was going to be a great product. The machine will 'buff' up 1/2 a CD or DVD and eject and then I have to reinsert the disc to see if it will finish - never have gotten a complete CD done yet - too bad case it appears to fix serious scratches and if you have decent electronic equipment CD/DVD will work again.

It's very useful because it has the pockets to put the dvd cover or dvd sheet they provide inside the dvd sometimes. Helps alot when identifying the DVD inside the particular pocket. Without the dvd cover pocket, I would have a hard time finding which DVD Title I was passing through. Very helpful for organizing and collecting!

Hard to tell from the picture, but this binder is 5 1/2 inches wide at the spine. It still fits on my shelf, fortunately. I am wary of the band-style binding system, it doesn't seem as sturdy as the 3-ring, but no problems so far. The pages are high-quality so even at this price it's half as cheap to buy this binder with 31 pages than to buy the refill pages separately.

I have bought this earlier and now again since it is very durable and keeps my DVD's very well organised. Only small complaint for the product - 2 DVD's are fully covered and 2 DVD's are 2/3 covered - case logic should change design to cover them fully as well.

I hear all the gripes out there about burning problems with DL discs, the truth is these problems are almost always your burner & NOT the discs. Especially Verbatim. More expensive, but well worth it. Their discs are guaranteed! as far as DL discs go, there are none better out there...
These truely are the best!.......2007-08-24
Even though it's labeled 2.4x, my 16x burner burns these at 8x which is much better than the 50 min burn process on the 2.4x ones. I bought the memorex brand after buying the Verbatim's because the memorex offered 5 extra discs at $7 less. That was a big mistake since more than half the memorex 2.4x ones were all not burning correctly. I think 2.4x is just too slow for such a large disc and it's a miracle if you can get just one to work right without stressing out your dvd player lazer. These Verbatims not only burn at 8x, but they read so nicely in my dvd player. I cannot even hear the lazer and doesn't sound like major wear and tear when trying to read Verbatims, the way the memorex's do. Stay away! from Memorex 2.4x 8.5GB discs or any brand of 8.5GB discs that only lets you burn at 2.4x. That speed is just so ridiculous. I didn't buy a 16X burner to burn at 2.4x and it seems 2.4x's are the only ones available, except for these secret 8x Verbatims.

Great for my Xbox 360.......2007-09-13
I love playing my Xbox 360, but the model I have likes to make these light circular scratches in my game discs, making it so you can't load certain portions of a game. (By the way, the "standard" response to this is that the scratches come from moving the 360 console while the disc is spinning--I have NEVER once done this--my unit has been in a permanent and stable horizontal position and yet several of my games have received these scratches--my unit is out of warranty though).
When my beloved Bioshock game got scratched and refused to load a specific level, I finally couldn't take it any more. I ordered this product out of desperation to try and get the disc working. I put the game through just one 3 minute repair cycle and popped it back into the 360 to test. To my absolute joy, it loaded up perfectly!!! I do not see the scratches on the disc, they appear to have been perfectly filled by a couple drops of the repair solution and the buffing process. I am so happy to have this thing, it basically means I don't have to buy a new 360 or replace super-expensive games!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the instruction manual is mediocre and irritated me a couple times. But this is a very minor complaint--the unit did what I prayed it would even easier than I thought possible. So happy!
It Works!.......2007-09-11
Briefly....this thing works great! I have had mine for 3 years now and it has cleaned and repaired hundreds of discs.The real test was repairing the Playstation games my Grandkids brought over...they were scratched terribly! Some took 2 or 3 cycles, but ALL were brought to working condition.
Tip: If you have a real bad disc, use the little wheel that you can do by hand to polish first, then use the machine.

I just finished cleaning, buffing, and repairing over 120 CDs. I own a bar and thru a recent spring cleaning I found a ton of music that we used to play with a DJ. This was over 4 years ago that we used this music and there was all sort of sound from concrete blonde, nsync and european techno. I mean a really weird array that came from who knows where. Some was left by old employees or customers, some was new, and much was from used music stores.
All of the cd's had been used hard, and treated as though the dj didn't care (like a big 4 year old with a cocktail) there were scratches, gouges, and gunk of unknown origins. Well, a week of downloading this music onto itunes, tediously checking each cd and determining whether it needed simple cleaning or the all out repairing I have only one thing to say...
...AMAZING!!!!!!
This little machine took care of all the cds. Only two were not able to be repaired. Ironically they were both Santana, and I'm sure that if I'd sent them thru the process of repairing again it would have done the trick. Unfortunately with such a monontous task I didn't much care if I got the entire cd or just up to the bad song.
I told my husband many times that I can't believe that I hadn't purchased this sooner. I shopped and chose this one because it looked like it would store in a smaller space than the other one. It is flat therefore in my life that means I can stack other junk on it when it is not in use. And this is not a product that I will use daily. More like my sewing maching after there is a stack of clothes that need to be repaired, this will sit until I have a stack of discs to repair. But it does repair. I can't say enough how well it works.
The machine is intuitive to use and the wheels are a snap to change. The other factor that made me get this is that replacement wheels and kits are easy to get.
I would recomend this with the glee of someone who has completed a task that has saved her tons of money, and didn't have one glitch to slow me down.
PS. I also repaired two DVDs...perfectly :o)

This product has a nice design and is easy to store but I do have a few doubts about it.
ONE: The Instruction Booklet is poorly writen and may frustrate some customers. And I had to figure out how to properly use the machine myself.
TWO: The buffing kits that are used for this particular model don't seem to last as long as it was specied--30 uses for the red, etc. Which means you have to keep buying buffing and cleaning kits for it all the time, especaily if you have a large collection as I do.
THREE: Although this dandy little machine did manage to repair some of my audio CDs, it did manage to destroy a DVD. I'm not mad. The movie wasn't that great anyhow--BUT! I'm a bit leary of placing anything I consider un-replacable (out-of-print/hard-to-find) in it after that little stunt.
Bottom line is I have have both good and ugly experiences with this product---

I have tried several different mechanisms and kits that claim to repair CD's and DVD's. This is the only one that seems to work, and it works every time. You have to run it on a scratched CD a few times, but eventually it will fix it. Certainly, some discs can be damaged beyond repair, but if you want to fix discs that are simply scratched, get this. It may seem costly, but I spent more on the collection of useless "repair" kits over the years that do nothing (or worse, damage the disc more).

I researched this product to make sure that it would not harm home-written CDs and DVDs. The pen works as advertised perfectly. Can't recommend it highly enough. The ink dries instantly.
Purchased the pair of pens from Adorama Camera through Amazon.com and their price for this item was excellent. However, I would ding them on their shipping cost (twice the cost of the very cheap pens).

I really enjoy this pen. For it's intended use they work great, BUT don't use them on paper. This seems to be very hard on the pen. Im glad that I purchased them.

The pen seems to work fine, although I haven't had it long.
However, check your total carefully before confirming you order: at least one vendor charges only a couple of dollars for the pen but adds $20.00 shipping charge (for a shipping weight of only 5 or 6 ounces). Vendors that charge a buck or so more for the pen charge only a fraction of that amount for shipping.

Found out at a recent Nikon workshop that maeking CD's and DVD's with a regular marker or sharpie can cause damage to data on the disk. If you mark your media, YOU MUST USE THESE PENS...or risk losing your data.

It snaps together in seconds, and is sized perfectly for standard CD cases. Some cardboard cases won't fit though, and there are no dividers - I made some from cardboard. Can't expect the world for this price though and it looks pretty good...
