Customer Reviews:
Great, but for one problem..............2007-09-21
So far this is a great product and I give Amazon kudos for price and delivery. HP on the other hand gets a zero rating for customer and tech support.
I love the fingerprint security feature but can't use it because with it activated the HX2795 turns itself on without me doing a thing. HP is totally aware of this issue and has known about it for more then a year and has yet to come up with an adequate, permanent fix other than a "work around" that a non-HP customer came up with on a public HP forum. HP Tech suggests this "work around" as well as ROM update that has nothing to do with the issue instead of doing an official fix. This "work around" seems to work on some but not on others. It has not worked on mine so I have had to disable the added security in order to keep the battery from potentially draining.
Now.....aside from that......this is a very nice PPC and does everything it is supposed to do and does it very well.
It's ok. Not as good as the Axim........2007-09-16
I had an Axim before I bought this iPaq. Unfortunately it was stolen and they don't make them anymore, so I bought this as a replacement. The main feature of the iPAQ I use is the fingerprint security. Basically if it gets stolen, I can be sure my info will not be retrieved without my fingerprint. I've had one big problem with my iPAQ though. My speaker doesn't seem to be working, or works infrequently. I use it as a GPS device as well, and this is a major malfunction when the speakers no longer dictate directions. I have to use the headphone jack along with my car adapter to get it to use my car speakers instead.
Have been using for 1 1/2 yrs.......2007-09-14
I've been happy with this unit. No problems. After reading all these reviews I can't figure out how everbody does additional uses with this HHPC. I know nothing about loading DVD, music, photos etc. It would be great to have all this in 1 HPC.
I bought all options from HP. I'll never do that again. Their prices are twice as high. It was convienent. This has been the best HPC I've ever owned and I will not upgrade for a while.
Great Pocket PC.......2007-09-06
The hx2795 is a well designed product that has worked flawlessly. This being my fourth PPC, I was happy to see HP stayed with both the Compact Flash and SD card slots, giving the user plenty of storage and options. The internet connectivity also worked well (only tried it on a hotel wi-fi network) right out of the box with no additional software needed. Just an all around excellent, well designed product. Highly recommended.
Good Pocket PC.......2007-09-04
A fast device, but, I have been using my Ipaq hx2795b for a month now, and at first it did have some freeze-ups. I tried to update the BIOS (ROM) from HP's website, but the version of the Web site was older than the version that comes with my iPAQ, so I tried hard reset, clean power reset (described in the instructions book) and it works fine for a couple of days, but when I activated the fingerprints reader security component, it starts to freeze again, and to booting slowly, so I deactivated it.
Another important thing is to check the iTask (the active tasks), since I close the inactive tasks, I haven't had problems again.
I updated my PC and Laptop with ActiveSync 4.5, but I have had problems when I connect my iPAQ, because I always have had to establish a new relationship between the device (PC or Laptop) and the iPAQ.
I'd like if HP and Microsoft can give us a Windows Mobile 6 for the iPAQ.

Other highlights include myFaves compatibility, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD memory card slot, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and more.
The Dash is the the perfect mobile office and mobile entertainment device. See it in detail. You can also watch a product demo (requires Flash).
|
Design
Under the hood, the Dash features 23 MB of built-in flash memory, a memory card slot for more memory, and a speedy 200 MHz OMAP 850 processor. Up front, the large 2.4-inch 320 x 240 QVGA touch-screen supports over 65,000 colors, while the rear of the device houses the 1.3-megapixel camera. The design of the Dash is clean and uncluttered, with most of the buttons easily accessible with one hand. Just to the right side of the display you'll find convenient up/down keys for volume adjustment and handy keys for browser control. There's also a handy HTC JOGGR control pad with variable speed, drag, and hold functions that makes document viewing a pleasure. Meanwhile, call answer and end buttons surround a five-way toggle that allows you to navigate and control the Windows Mobile interface. A full QWERTY keyboard resides underneath the large display. As mentioned earlier, a microSD memory expansion card slot is provided, and USB/Bluetooth connectivity is included for convenient data transfers.
Calling and PDA Features
The Dash's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. The included Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone software with Direct Push technology gives you instant access to your emails, calendar, and contacts at anytime. That means wherever and whenever, you'll be connected. A single main screen summarizes all the important information you need to make it through the day. Here you'll get message notification, upcoming appointments, dialing functions, tasks, and more all in one spot.
As a phone, the Dash features all the functionality folks expect from an advanced cell phone, including a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode, and picture and ringer ID. Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile combines email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes into a single application that seamlessly integrates with the Dash's phone functions. Meanwhile, headsets, car kits and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.
Staying productive on the road is made possible by the Microsoft Office Mobile suite, which includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. Meanwhile, the File Explorer application makes it easy to browse the files on your Dash.
Like all T-Mobile phones, the Dash supports voicemail, caller ID, conference calling, call forwarding, call waiting, call hold, built-in paging, and access to T-Mobile's 411 service.
This phone is fully compatible with T-Mobile's myFaves service, which allows you to call up to five of your most common contacts--on any network, even landlines--without using any of your minutes. Learn more about myFaves.
Messaging and Internet
Using T-Mobile's EDGE-powered Internet service, you can surf the Web with the bundled Internet Explorer application, or use MSN, Yahoo!, or AOL messenger services to stay in contact via instant messaging. Plus, the inclusion of Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) in the Dash allows you to surf the Web or check your email at blazing speeds when you're connected to a Wi-Fi network. With the purchase of T-Mobile Hotspot data service, you can get online at thousands of locations coast-to-coast. Lastly, robust SMS and MMS functionality is built into the Windows Mobile interface, too.
One of the most important tools bundled with the Dash is Microsoft ActiveSync, which allows you to quickly synchronize your device's tasks, calendars, email, and contacts with your desktop. You also get Exchange ActiveSync, an application that lets you synchronize data with an Exchange server. Syncing can be done via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth.
Imaging and Entertainment
Another great feature of the Dash is that it supports Windows Media playback right out of the box. With Windows Media Player, you can play streaming and downloaded video and audio content in a variety of formats. You can also keep favorite tunes loaded on a memory card and listen to your music wherever you roam.
As mentioned, the Dash can take 1.3-megapixel pictures, and while the camera is great for taking stills, it can also function as a camcorder, allowing you to capture video to the unit's memory. An integrated media application organizes your captured photos and videos. For gamers, the phone supports Java-based and Windows Mobile games.
The Dash also sports an airplane mode feature, which allows the user to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games, or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.
Vital Statistics
The T-Mobile Dash weighs 4.23 ounces and measures 4.39 x 2.46 x 0.51 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 5 hours of digital talk time, and up to 216 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.
Customer Reviews:
Great phone, nice wifi crappy camera.......2007-08-18
I bought this phone to replace my blackberry 7820 and Razor V3xx. I was constantly switching my sim card from home to work and bought this as an all in one. I love this phone. bluetooth, wifi, voice recorder, windows media player, great reception. BUT crappy camera. Would be great except for that. Razr v3xx is 100 times better camera.
Picked this over the iPhone, and I'm Glad.......2007-08-06
Let me begin by saying that I have been a long time admirer of Apple, and have the five volumes of "Inside Macintosh" for developers to prove it. In fact, before they moved to OS/X, I used to develop printer drivers for the Mac.
So when the iPhone was announced, I looked at the release date, and when I would be looking for a new phone, and thought the timing was pretty good.
However, after reading the reviews (positive and negative), and doing my research, I picked up a T-mobile Dash instead.
Why?
First off, both phones use the EDGE network. So browsing speed wasn't going to be a difference. However the Dash uses Windows Mobile 6 (with the free update) that has a version of IE that is about as good as Safari. Not to mention that the Dash also supports the Mobile version of Opera. Like the iPhone, the Dash also supports WiFi browsing, and the phone plan (similar costs) includes free use of T-mobile's hotspots - which are much more numerous in my experience than the AT&T ones (Starbucks anyone?)
Then there's the cost. The Dash with a 1 gig MicroSD card is about $25 (Dash is free, the MicroSD card is what's expensive). The iPhone, of course, is several hundred more than that. I could have gotten my whole family Dashes for the price of one four gig iPhone. And of course the microSD card is removable and replaceable (as is the battery).
While the Dash does NOT have a touch screen, it DOES have a physical keyboard. My typing speed is already 30wpm, and I wouldn't be surprised if I get up to 50 or 60 (compared to my desktop speed of 80-90). The Dash has a somewhat smaller display, but it has the longer battery life to go with it.
Then there is the comparison of the voice plans. With T-Mobile you have the "MyFaves" plan that lets you setup five phone numbers on any network for free calls. With the iPhone, your AT&T folks are free, but everyone else starts burning minutes - and fast. For me, having those five numbers means that I'm pretty much covered. Not to mention that T-Mobile is consistently ranked higher for customer satisfaction and coverage compared to AT&T.
Oh, and unlike the iPhone, there's a version of Skype for the Dash, so I can make calls over WiFi to folks who aren't in "MyFaves" at no additional cost beyond the normal Skype out fee. I don't think there will be a Skype for iPhone anytime soon.
Finally, WindowsMobile, for all of it's Microsoft issues, does have a fair library of apps I can install, and support for a number of things that you will have to wait for on the iPhone. And there is an SDK out there for developing your own apps if you don't find what you need.
For me, and considering the above, the T-mobile Dash was the right answer. Something you might want to consider if you're looking for a new smartphone.
Not that great.......2007-08-02
I really was excited to get this phone but it has really disappointed me. The main things I hate on this phone is that wifi is extremely slow, the alarm goes off all the time even when I do not turn it on and the touch pad volume control sucks! I always accidentally touch the screen when I am on the phone and it messes with the volume. So annoying! The call quality also sucks but I'm not sure if it is the phone or just t-mobile. All in all, I don't hate the phone, I just hate aspects of it but I would not recommend it to anyone.
Super product and service.......2007-08-01
I bought my T-Mobile Dash myFaves Smartphone on Amazon and it is super. It is the best phone I have had, being able to browse the internet and check my emails anywhere I am ,is cool. The phone is flat and beautiful and above all the services the came with it is super.
Very fragile LCD screen!!!.......2007-07-27
This is a great phone, however I highly recommend insuring your phone! This can only be done within the first 14 days of purchasing your new phone. Also get a shell protector!!! I didnt do this and I had my phone in my jacket pocket and I took it out and my LCD screen was cracked....the phone was useless at that point.

decent multimedia machine, but buggy.......2007-09-22
got this pda (mainly because it has CF support, I have 16GB CF)
flashed to Hong Kong version, it displays Trad and Simp Chinese without problem
but I see the unit is kinda buggy, that sometimes bt confuses to connect, and wifi "forgets" the driver, requires reset
it doesn't turn on after charging, and the unit gets pretty hot, press reset, the battery goes to 0
SD problem, that I have to turn the unit on before inserting SD, or it's not recognized, and it doesn't support SD-HC (will WM6 update add it?)
pro
flip screen cover
CF support, can add 16GB of storage
256MB of ROM
new 1700mA/h battery
con
flaky bt and wifi
no SD-HC support
may be bulky for some
screen is yellow compared with RX3715 and X50v
I'd recommend it if you want CF support, ipaq 210 is coming, and it has WM6 and VGA screen
"POCKET COMPUTING POWER!".......2007-08-30
OK, first I didn't want a "PDA" telephone. Some are nice but those screens are just too small. I wanted a PDA that I could just pull out at the local library or Airport and connect to that Wi-Fi. I also wanted to play the "HUGE" selections of downloadable games that are available for the Pocket PC. This HP iPAQ 2495 is powerful and has a real nice non-slip grip around the whole unit. It supplements my laptop perfectly when I'm out on the road. It's also fun and simple to use. The most important feature is the screen size and the clarity. It's not a iPhone but this iPAQ does have a "User Friendly" replaceable battery which the iPhone doesn't have. You just click a back button to gain access and it "Pops" out. The bottom line is I had other HP PDA'S and that all familiar "Palm Pilot." This iPAQ is simply the best in the class of PDA's to date.
hp's dirty little secret.......2007-08-14
Okay, so I bought a brand spanking new hx2495b. One of the first things I did was install a SD card. Then the problems started. Fairly frequent soft boots required to get the thing to turn on. Battery dead (0%) from full charge over night. Not too often, but a couple of times in the 2 weeks I had it.
Emailed hp support about the problem (I did forget to mension I had a SD card installed) and they, of course, recommended doing a ROM update. Okay, I just got a brand new unit, why should it need a ROM update all ready? I go and locate the update, down load it and go to install it. Sure enough the update they wanted me to install was the exact same version all ready in the silly thing! Like that is going to do any good, duh?
Then I notice one of the things the ROM update was suppost to fix is a lock up and battery drain problem when an SD card is installed. Humm, maybe they haven't really fixed that. So, I pull my SD card and whad ya know, all the problems went away!
Well, I really don't need the SD card, so I can live with that, but I'd wish they had said something about it! Even though I forgot about the SD card being in there, they should have realized the problem when I said the battery went dead over night! I can't be the only one to have this problem. Guess they don't want to admit there is still a flaw in the programming. A year after it was suppost to be fixed!
So, I'd recommend if you don't need an SD card, don't put one in. If you do need it, pull it out when your not using it.
One other thing to keep in mind is when you turn the PDA off, it doesn't really turn off. The display goes out, but a lot of stuff is still running inside. This is so it will come back exactly where you left off when you turn it back on. That's nice, but if you don't have it on a charger, it will drain the battery in 3-4 days just sitting around. Maybe not a big deal to most people, but I want to use the thing to keep a trail journal while hiking the Appalachian Trail, and I could go a week between towns and AC power. Guess I'll have to lug a solar charger along too if I want to use it.
Other than the problem with the SD card and not really turning off when its off, its a great little gizzmo. Solidly built and otherwise works great.
Oh, one other thing you might want to know. The instructions aren't clear about this. Activesync likes to turn it's self on all the time. The way to stop this is to set it to manual sync only. Unfortunetly, the button to access this command is not available if you have it set for USB sync. To set it to manual sync only, you have to set up a server connection first.
Start activesync (if it isn't already running!)
Menu > add server source
enter a dummy server address like 1.1.1.1
enter some other dummy info into the next blocks it wants you to fill in
then go back to menu and click on schedule.
Now select manual sync in two places.
Go back and delete the server connection.
Now active sync will only come on when you want it too.
Good hardware...quirkey software.......2007-07-21
I have had mine for a few weeks now. Pretty much I like it for all the reasons stated in other reviews. Syncing was easy with WXP Home, WIFI connection is two tap simple, lots of extra software written that works with WM5. I'm using subscription medical software. I'm not having the power management issues even with a 1GB SD expansion card in place. Its the goofey OS thats the problem (Microshaft/soft).
#1. The Today screen, (Desktop), sometimes leaves out some of the device status icons. To fix it, tap START, SETTINGS, TODAY and uncheck any item to display. Exit and it will be removed. Then go back in and recheck the box and it (and the missing display status icons) will reappear. #2. For whatever reason, sometimes the device will not turn on. Fret not, you have done nothing wrong. Stick the stylus into the soft reset hole...and BLINK...the screen comes back on and the device reboots itself. #3. Navigating the device is partly intuitive and partly not. There are still some screens I've seen only once. I have no idea how I got there and no idea how to get back. #4. Internet Explorer, Its a MEMORY and STORAGE hog. You can clear the storage caches of IE by doing OPTIONS and deleting the history and files. But the only way to clean out the memory cache is to do a soft reboot. The more you use IE, the more you'll notice the available system memory continually deminishes. I do a soft reboot weekly now to keep the system free of as many temp files as possible.
But overall I like it. I'm used to fiddling with tech stuff so it doesn't really bother me. I use it at work daily and all the included and extra software works great!!
Generally very cool, but some annoying bugs.......2007-07-16
I've enjoyed many things about this product, including the fast wireless connections, multiple input methods and the bright, clear screen. However, the bugginess of Windows Mobile XP is extremely frustrating and power management issues are annoying.
With Mobile XP applications don't really close when you close them, they are just minimized and still using resources. In order to truly close them you must go through a few clicks to the equivalent of Task Manager and close the applications. Also, with some applications I've had problems with an application getting lost in the background and it won't come to the foreground. The only solution is to reset the iPAQ, which usually means losing what hasn't been saved.
From a power management perspective, I've had two problems. First, an after market battery I purchased doesn't interface properly with the battery monitoring in the iPAQ and it never shows full charge. It starts reporting that the charge is low even though it will continue working for a long time. The more annoying problem is that the iPAQ keeps turning itself on. I'll turn it off, leaving sitting on my desk, and it turns itself on, consuming battery life. I haven't done much research into solving this problem, but will have to soon. I didn't buy this thing so I would have to spend hours researching problems.
The power button is also very vulnerable to being accidentally pushed. I bought a nice leather case for carrying my iPAQ around and found that when I put it in a duffle or on my hip it was getting pushed. I can't always testify as to when the button was pushed or when the iPAQ was turning itself on, but I wish HP would have designed the power button to be a little better protected.
Other than the bugs listed above, this is a very cool product. The wireless setup is simple, lots of good software comes with it and there is a ton of software available out there. Interfacing with your desktop/laptop PC via USB or Bluetooth is also very simple. Another warning ... although a mobile version of Excel is provided, do not expect it to work with complex spreadsheets developed using the big boy version of Excel. Lots of formatting and some formulas won't work on the mobile version. It is great, however, for your everyday spreadsheet apps.
My iPAQ might be appearing on eBay soon.

*** Do Not Buy this Device ***.......2007-09-18
I bought it in late January from Amazon and it has been "dead" more days than it hasn't. I've had it to the HP service center, and they supposedly replaced the motherboard. Now, it will not boot, and I have to start the whole process over. I have requested a refund (admittedly months later) from Amazon, but to no avail they want me to work through sending it back to HP etc. etc. etc. You've been there...I think we're just asking too much of PDAs to be GPSs etc. I will say that everyone has been "nice" to talk to (both Amazon and HP) but as an entrepreneur, I have wasted a "man-week" (at least) trying to get this to work for me. If anyone has any suggestions please call me (208-921-5073). I'm a routine buyer from Amazon...but if I had bought it at COMPUSA, I would have had this resolved by now! Shame on me for "saving a few" bucks...
Needless to say, if you want a GPS, buy a GPS. If you want a PDA, do not buy this IPAQ...just NOT THERE, YET! I don't really care about "return policies"...TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMER!!! If you don't you will lose them...one at a time!!!
Make me an offer for a "dead IPAQ"...PLEASE!

Some suggestions which might help to run your HP FASTER........2007-09-18
It is a fantastic gadget, but there are few things that you need to know to make this gadget work well.
1. The microsoft activesync 4.2 doesnot work, download microsoft activesync 4.5 from microsoft website it is free and workes better than 4.2 version, and it syncs readily.
2. The GPS will lock readily if you download the freeware from HP website and install it, also new tomtom maps are available from HP website download it and install it, after instaling the maps re-install the firmware update, then doanload daylight fix time and install it, it helps to speed-up the gps, and gps locks within 30 seconds.
3. GPS should work fine with above installations, if it doesnot then you can try external antenna, i have not tried it personally but I have been told that it helps locking gps quickly.
The day i bought it HP launched tons of new PDA phones with gps and cameras init, I hope they will be on microsoft mobile 6.0 and mor advanced, but for now this little tool is awesome and good to go.
Hope this review helped, good luck.
ipaq rx5915.......2007-09-13
I've used Ipaq's before and to have GPS and wireless interet now is great. I haven't had to use the manual yet. The TomTom software and system was easy to figure out. The directions have been right on. Fits in my purse, has my music, works for me. If only my Groupwise would sync without having to buy more software, it'd be perfect.
MANY ISSUES.......2007-09-10
My rating for this item is very low as I have not been able to use it yet as a GPS device. I never managed to get it to workk properly. Following HP phone support I upgraded firmware and maps. But behavior was still erratic. I shipped it back to HP in early August under HP instructions. It worked properly for a couple of days when I received it back but has started to behave erratically again and it is going to be shipped back to HP again....
To say I am not satisfied is an understatement !
Love it!.......2007-09-09
I love the iPAQ, it's great. I keep my calendar, my contacts, my tasks all in one place and it helps me get where I need to go. I have used the GPS even when I knew where I was going because it gives you your arrival time and count down for how long you have left to travel. I would definitely recommend this product.

Very handy!!.......2007-07-23
Bought this for my iPaq and immediately had to go on a trip. It works really well for charging and using the iPaq, but it was a little tempermental to seat the plug into the power connector in my husband's truck, not sure if the problem is with the truck or with the adapter, we'll see.
Otherwise though it works great!
Easy to buy, easy to use.......2007-02-12
I tried to find the same cable from many sites, including the HP accessories and as I am in Brazil, they couldn't send it to me.
At Amazon, I could buy and receive the cable as they promises.
The cable fitted exactly to my HP iPAQ HW6945 and now, I can charge and sync using my laptop, so, the battery is always full and I can't miss any call. At my car, I can use the GPS connected full time and now I don't need to turn my HW6945 off and on in order to save battery.
It values each cent it cost.

Use TCPMP to play videos on your IPAQ.......2007-08-26
I would not recommend using the Windows Mobile's Media Player on the IPAQ for playing videos. I would recommend downloading a free version of TCPMP DIVX player for the Pocket PC at the following location. TCPMP is a far superior video player than the WM Media Player. You will not have the buffering problems that the WM Media Player has. Your videos will play smoothly without interruptions. It also plays a wider range of video format than the WM Media Player.
http://www.dvdcatalyst.com/support/downloads/
I also recommend DVD Catalyst GT for converting DVD's to playable video files for your IPAQ. It is easy to use and costs less than $20.

I really enjoy my IPAQ. I hope these suggestions help you get more enjoyment out of yours.
Best Anniversary Present.......2007-07-04
I bought this for my husband on our Anniversary. He loved it has really come in handy from him as he needs a lot of phone numbers to be stored for work and a calendar to keep his ever changing work schedule in. Also, allows him to access wireless internet if he needs to.
Dissapointed.......2007-06-10
When I got my Rx1955 I was impressed with the wifi capabilities. Later I was extremely dissapointed that it lacked bluetooth functionality to sync with other devices. I also was dissapointed by the fact that it crashed frequently and had to be reset (windows mobile's fault). My Rx1955 ended up dying, the lcd decided that it would just show bars and not anything else one day. I called hp and they said replacement would cost around 200 bucks with the trade in (I went online and got the next model up with bluetooth instead).
Great Product! Recommend it........2007-04-29
For years I used an IPAQ 1910. Loved its slim size, gorgeous display and its features. It had one fatal disadvantage! When the removable battery discharged it lost all the data and programs stored in memory and there was no way to put Contacts, Schedules etc on Storage Card. So they were erased each time. At home they could be resynched with the PC and the data restored but on trips - when I needed the data worse - it was not possible. To make it worse the data loss occurred even when the secondary battery showed full charge and the battery discharge happened even if the unit was not turned on. Another disadvantage was that it could not handle a Storage Card larger than 1 GB and its earphone socket used the non-standard 2.5 mm plug (standard is 3.5 mm)
So I bought the IPAQ RX1950. It looks and feels exactly the same as the old 1910 but with added WiFi connectivity, persistent memory (data is not lost even if battery is completely discharged), and ability to handle large capacity SD Cards. Installed a 2 GB SD Card and loaded in several favorite programs like Mobipocket Reader, ProWord Dictionary, XnView image display, Conduit Pocket Player and the games Freecell, SuperSudoku and Scrabble. Also tried, unsuccessfully, to add several free utilities to make navigation and the Today screen more useful.
It was heavy going! I found that I had to Soft Reset so many times during use that I considered returning the unit to Amazon. Got in touch with HP Support Professional via chat. He first advised me to download the latest ROM and Firmware updates. It turns out that my device had all these installed from the factory (as they should have been) - so there was no need for additional update. The technician suspected that the added utilities might the culprit. so I uninstalled them. He also advised me to follow the following procedure:
"Open active sync on the iPaq, then tap on menu -> Add Server Source, then you will see a field called "server address", enter anything into this field. Tap on next on the bottom right of the screen. Fill out the three fields with any information, then select next, then finish. This will bring you back to the active sync menu. Tap on menu -> Schedule, you will see two drop downs, "peak times" and "off-peak times". Change both of these from the default of 10 and 4 mins respectively to "manually". Tap on ok in the upper right hand side. Tap on menu -> Options, tap and hold on where it says "exchange server" and select delete."
Did all of the above and for the past 4 days did not do a single Soft Reset and am a happy user. Incidentally the battery on this unit lasts for a goodly length of time - much more than the 1910 though the battery is just a somewhat higher capacity. I presume it has to do something with data and programs being in ROM & not requiring continuous refresh like the RAM in the 1910.
During a recent trip had occasion to test the Wifi connectivity. Used Gmail to get to Inbox. It was surprising how well the messages could be viewed. Of course sending answers was laborious using the displayed keyboard but it could be done. So now I am looking forward to use it extensively on my forthcoming trip to Europe.
nice light PDA.......2007-03-26
It's nice, thin and light, but lacks memory and processor power for stronger applications (such as skype). Also lacks bluetooth.
The price and the low weight compensates it's limitations, making this iPAQ a great PDA option.

First time I lost data.......2007-07-05
After a few years using flash drives this is the first time I lost huge amount of data. One briefcase folder just became suddenly empty and another folder appeared with file damaged. both problems in the same episode.
Doesn't really work with the E62-E61.......2007-04-06
This thing is sitting in a drawer right now.
It is too wide to accomodate the E62 I own which makes getting it out of the case impossible. I jury rigged a piece of black covered foam in the bottom just so I wouldn't need two hands to get my cell phone out.
When it started dialing a number every time I closed it, it went into the drawer forever.
I gave it a star above terrible because it really is well made... just not well made for the E62.
Sturdy and professional case does what it promises.......2007-01-10
This is the second case I've had for my Palm. The first was a fabric case that looked ragged quickly.
I like:
* Professional look
* Magnetic clasp
* Memory card holder section holds business cards nicely
I don't like:
* Clip sometimes comes open and case slips off belt
* Case design is open where stylus is -- stylus can slip out
Overall, I'm very happy with this case.
My husband liked this case !!!!.......2007-01-09
This was bought for my husband as a Christmas present. He wanted one that could go on his belt.It works perfectly for him.
Good in concept, fails in implementation.......2007-01-04
I've owned a couple of Krusell Multidapt cases. I like the case per se, the clip mechanism promises but sadly fails to deliver.
THe spring clip that the case came with broke. The "big clip" replacement I bought fails to hold the case on my belt so I'm constantly dropping the case. As a result I've lost the stylus to my palm. The plastic connector on the case is a poor choice, it really ought to be something more sturdy. The multidapt on the last case I owned broke completely, the clip threads are very thin and weak. This case had the clip pull off the threads of the case so I had to glue them permanently together if I wanted to use the case at all. This was due to having the case on my side and sitting down with it, causing a pull on the connector.
I don't think a case should be that easily broken. If it were made of metal, it wouldn't break. The connector itself seem so solidly attached to the case I doubt that it would pull off.
I find it hard to reccommend the case because of the clip. The case itself, however, is wonderful, which is why I continue to use it until I can find a case with a better clip system.

Customer Reviews:
Exactly as expected.......2007-05-25
Product is exactly what I expected. I was looking for the original cradle to connect my Ipaq to another computer.
Good for XP but not that great for Vista.......2007-03-30
Connects to computer easily, but Vista sync software does not function properly with the unit. It does give you the option to drag-drop files to the iPaq but the sync doesn't work. When in charging station the screen is always on with the Dock Ware on the iPaq.

It's ok.......2007-05-19
I believe had it not been for the lack of assistance I received from the seller (Not Amazon) of this PDA, I would have rated it a lot higher. Most of the applications and games work fine on the 2215, except for the fact, that it would not read either SD or CF cards from it's card slot on top. I did send my complaint, but never received any assistance as to what to do. One of the reasons for purchasing this particular model, was, so that I could view information or photos from the memory cards. Other than that it's not a bad PDA. I'll get a treo or a blackberry next time.
Buyer beware........2007-01-09
Do not buy a used iPAQ Pocket PC or anyother Pocket PC. I bought one for my wife for Christmas(I will be paying for this for a long time). Received it before the 25th. We just got around to trying to down-load the software to my laptop. Well it seems that we need a 25 character pin code to do anything with the PC. It did not come with the code and HP wants to charge $50 to try and help to get the PC to Hot Sync with the laptop. Plus they don't even support it anymore. Right now I have a $179 useless piece of hardware. Again, DO NOT buy used or refurbished unless you can verify that all the information is there. PS: The seller will not take it back.
Not a bad PDA But Needs Internet help.......2007-01-07
Really does what it says and alot more however the browser on mine was out of date and hard to upgrade?
Really Good Product.......2006-09-28
I really love this Ipaq it has every thing I need to do my Job with. This can really replace your laptop. But if you do buy this you will need a WiFi card to connect to the internet. Hp Job well done with this Ipaq.
wireless sd card drains battery!! AVOID.......2006-09-17
I just thught people should know- It claims to be expandable with sd cards-while true to an extent. I purchased an expensive sd network card; now i can surf. Only for about ten minutes, because sd cards drain the battery FAST!! Now I wish I had saved up for a Dell Axim which has the network built in. My point is you get what you pay for! I hope this helps you avoid a mistake I made- thought i could save a few bucks (what a dummy don't be fooled I give the 2215 a failing grade)
