I love this camera. It's easy to use and takes great pictures, what more do you need? I love the size of it too, fits easily in my back pocket if I'm not carrying a purse with me. It takes incredible video as well... with sound!!

Canon sd 1000.......2007-09-22

Purchased for our daughter, this camera has been great. It's very compact, like our sd 600. Lens quality and program options are good. It takes better pictures in a backlit restaurant, for example, than another brand. Low-light without flash can be noisy (grainy,) and the redeye reduction can never be perfect unless you get a remote flash. 3X optical zoom is adequate for landscape and portrait, looks about like a 35 - 105 would on a 35mm slr. Digital zooming/cropping is best done on photoshop, etc.

Canon SD850.......2007-09-22

This camera is simply awesome. It has many user features that were easy to figure out with out the manual, and is fun to use. I especially like the color accent mode. The zoom is also great because it doesn't distort the picture much.

The battery life is amazing - since I am used to my old Sony Cybershot sucking down batteries left and right.

The image stablizer works great too - as I have taken quite a few pictures of high speed action and the detail is sharp and is as if the subject was frozen in time.

I see only two cons in this camera. The first is there is no battery life meter - but to be honest, the battery life is so long anyway, if you charge the battery before a special occasion, it should be fine.

The last is how the lighting is adjusted indoors (during the day) when there is a window close by that throws off light. It makes the picture darker then I'd like, but it's nothing you can't work around.

But in all - I would highly recommend this camera for anyone. It is very compact which makes it easy to carry around, and very easy to use.

Had and loved the 800IS but gave it to my brother for his tour in Iraq. The 850IS is very similar - compact, great pictures for a point and shoot. Optical image stabilization is key. No complaints yet.

Very good camera. It performs as promised considering it's a "point & shot". Size is perfect and it slides without a problem into your pants pocket. Good image colors, very intuitive and easy to use menus (you really use the different options)and also with a SD with extra Gigs you have good video. With these videos and good pictures you have a nice material to use in software programs like Photoshop Elements or other popular programs. My only concern, I would like more optical zoom.

This is such a sweet camera. Takes great pics. Very versatile. This is the only compact digital camera that has both an LCD and viewfinder. Easy to use menus. This is my second Canon compact digital camera, and they just keep getting better and better.

Great little camera, except when lens wide open.......2007-09-24

I bought this camera and the features are incredible for the price. It feels a little cheap in the hands, but what doesn't that Canon makes these days?
I only have 1 issue with this camera that I didn't expect when I bought it...and that's blurriness when the lens is wide open. The right side of the pictures at apertures of 5.6 and larger (wider open) seem blurry, out of focus, and distorted. It's only about 10% if the image, but it's noticeable even on medium prints (5x7). Small prints probably not noticeable. If I stop down the aperture the blurriness goes away (f6.1 or smaller).
Other than that I have no complaints. It can focus great in lower light thanks to the decent AF-assist lamp. Flash is decent. It's very responsive to button presses
Flash cycling is very slow (about 8 seconds) but I knew that before I bought it and I'm ok with that, as it only has 2 AAs in it and I don't like using flash much anyway.
As far as image quality is concerned, I don't see much in the way of improvement in this DIGIC III over the older DIGIC II processing. There is definitely lower noise, but this no doubt due to more noise reduction. For consumers who print images directly from their camera, this is great. However I'd rather perform my noise reduction in post with NeatImage, so I prefer the DIGIC II processing.
I use the 'MyColors' setting with Saturation at +1, Sharpening at 0, Contrast at +1. This allows me to sharpen in post if I want to, however even without sharpening the images come out acceptable.
The White Balance settings are nice. It can be set manually which is awesome for a camera this cheap.
Concerning image quality settings, I forgoe the Superfine and just use the Fine setting. It looks just as good as the Superfine (to me) while allowing many more images to be stored.
I don't know if it was just my camera or they are all like this, but the removable lens ring around the barrel seemed to be loose, and rattled a little. I didn't notice this on my A710 IS, but perhaps the build quality is lower of this camera (in fact I know it is. This is a dangerous direction Canon is taking with their more recent products). I was considering buying the Lumix-LZ7 simply because it felt so nice in my hands, very solid and comfortable. But the image quality kept me away from that camera.
So, I would say great camera. Although I think the A710 IS is a bit better, not because the zoom range is better but because the lens is better concerning blurriness at shooting wide open.

Very pleased........2007-09-22

I can begin to stress how pleased I am with this camera. Incredibly easy to use and takes fantastic pictures. It will eat up batteries so I would recommend a set of rechargeable batteries. Only negative that I have noticed is that it's a little tricky to do low level light shots, you need to make sure you are using higher ISO settings to get good pictures.

Image stabilization is FANTASTIC, and that alone makes this camera worth buying.

This is my first stand alone digital camera. I read tons and tons of reviews on several cameras and decided that this was the best "bang for the buck" camera for me. I am new to photography and mainly wanted a camera to take pictures of my kids and family events. This camera works great! It takes EXCELLENT pictures. The quality by far surpassed my expectations. I have yet to print the pictures but viewing them on my high resolution PC screen, they are great!

It is very easy to view pictures you have previously taken. You can zoom in, delete, and do some minor editing like removing red eye. The camera has both the LCD viewer and a view finder. You can take a panoramic view set using a preset the camera has which is really cool. You can even shoot video, which is pretty decent quality. I am highly impressed and glad I purchased this camera.

The camera has tons of features that are easy to use and understand, even for a new adopter like me. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a great digital camera!

As good as a camera can get!.......2007-09-18

This camera is perfect for us. My husband wanted a camera with full manual so he can play around with getting the best shot possible. I wanted a camera I can just grab and quickly shoot to get a picture of our children in action. This camera makes us both happy!

We have used this camera indoors at a party, outdoors at a picnic in the early-afternoon, while riding a horse, while our daugher was marching in a parade in the mid-morning, and at a zoo in the early evening. All the pictures turned out wonderfully. (Well, two of the pictures do have a sun glare on them when we were facing the sun while taking the picture.) The coloring on all the pictures is superb. You can even see the fuzz of our son's sweatshirt in one of the pictures. Even when the camera was facing bright windows, the faces turned out nicely. (not too dark)

The time between pictures has not been a problem for us. I was able to take three pictures of my daughter as she marched by in the parade. We do use 2500 NiMH rechargables, which we found are a must!

The software that comes with the camera is very nice, too. However, after using the camera's software to download the photos and catergorize them by date, we use Adobe Photoshop for our editing. This camera is so good, though, not much needs to be done to each picture.

I would recommend this camera to anyone.

Got it today, is it me......?.......2007-09-24

Is it me or has the QUALITY of these digital cameras gone downhill? I am the owner of a VERY old Fuji 5MP camera (when 5MP were $400) and the image quality of the photos that Fuji takes is way better than this one boasting 7MP!! Also, I keep hearing how clear the LCD is, but on mine it has noise! Sure it is a large screen for the camera size, but the noise detracts alot from the image. On my old Fuji, the screen is flawless. I dont get it. Didi I get a defective cam or does every model contain the LCD noise that I speak of? Other than that, it seems to work fine and for $130 bucks, I guess a 7MP cam is pretty darn good despite the noisy LCD screen.

This is a very affordable camera that offers good resolution and tons of manual controls for those who are starting to transition away from point and shoots. It uses AA batteries which work out pretty decently. The pictures are great. For the money though, I'd say it is one of the better cameras around.

this is a great camera. diffrent settings for diffrents moods. i love going to the beach and to bars at night and to find a camera that takes great pics at such a bright setting as the beach and a dark setting as like a bar it has a setting for indoor night and beach it is great. the only downfall i do not like about this camera it is bulkier than my last 2 cameras but maybe thats the reason they broke they were to small...i would really recommed this camera to anyone who likes to travel and take alot of fantastic pics

I hated this thing until..........2007-09-23

I didn't think there was anything I could like less than *pod+*tunes. A few years back, I received little Nano as a gift, and one day it committed suicide by jumping out of my pocket into a bucket of water. I saw little Nano's demise as my chance to escape into something better. No Way! Rhapsody and the Sansa firmware made me long for little Nano back...until I discovered ROCKBOX!

For those of you that don't know, RockBox is open source firmware that will run in the player in place of the Sansa firmware (it also runs on several other mp3 players, including *pods). It is great, and its free! It's a bit technical, but these things are not toys are they?

For those of you who are whining about this player, its time for you to go back to school, and study ROCKBOX!

MP3 freeze.......2007-09-19

My daughter was so excited about getting this MP3 player as a friend has the same one but 2 GB instead of 8. She has been disappointed as the MP3 player keeps on freezing up and she has to play with buttons just to get it going. I have bought SanDisk products before and am just hoping that this is a "dud".

Great Player and unique product.......2007-09-19

This mp3 player is a real bang for your buck. It includes everything you could possilby want in a mp3 player. Its got a picuture viewer, video player, fm tuner, fm recording and voice recoring. Not only is it a large size 8GB flash drive (which is lighter and longer lasting than a hard drive), but its got a expandable micro sd slot so that the total storage can be increased to 10GB. Only downside only music can be stored and acessed from the micro sd card. Another great thing about this player, the battery is user replacable. You can buy the kit and replace the battery ourself. This way you can increase the already long playing time of close to 20 hours or you can increase the longevity of your player. The player is extremly light and compact and very easy to use. I purchased this player after my 2.5 year old dell pocket dj went dead on me. One of the main reasons my previous player died on me was that it was hard drive based player and had more moving parts and wouldnt last as long. I was also able to buy the sansa for $50 cheaper than I purchased my previous player. With many more feaures and advances. If you want a real alternative to the ipod than the sansa sandisk is the way to go. You get much more feaures, lower price and are not restricted to only itunes for your music purchases. The sansa works with many online music stores like: rhapsody, napster, yahoo, etc. The player can also be used as a portable hard drive. Also has a good variety of accessories, like cases, docking stations, etc. Only a few main downsides: theres a 15 second start up time, the user interface takes a little getting used to, but overall its a great buy and an awesome product.

Let me open up by saying the sound quality on these is excellent, and the latest firmware (.18A)makes for a usable player -- but that's it -- just usable.

Playlists are a bloody nightmare. Needs 3rd party utils to make playlists. When playing from a playlist, and one goes back to the music list, the present position is lost. Also, when selecting a playlist, response lags. Fixable in firmware, I suppose -- they just haven't gotten around to it.

Controls are sketchy, single-hand operation not that good.

Fit and finish could be better. There are sharp edges where the back meets the front. There's a sharp edege at the back, down where the USB cord plugs into the player. These sharp edges detract from the feel of the instrument -- instead of feeling well-made and expensive, it can feel cheap.

I'm sure their next effort will be a five-star affair. That is, if they've listened to their e200 series customers.

Overall, usable, acceptable -- but not stellar. The sound, however, *is* stellar, and so is the portability.

Great Camera.......2007-09-23

The Canon SD750 is one of the best cameras around. Great quality in a compact camera. I love how the package came complete with a charger, usb cable, video cable, and even a 32mb card(although I will probably upgrade to a at least a 2gb). It has a lot of features, including color accent, which is my favorite. The tilt screen is very innovative. The 3" screen is nice to have. I'd absolutely recommend this camera to anyone searching for a point-and-shoot camera between $200-300 price range. I used to have a exilim s500, and although the style of the exilim cameras are sleek, they do not offer the performance of a Canon.

Lots of functionality yet easy to use. Survived a drop on the rocks already. This camera rules; you won't be sorry. You will however be sorry if you select Amazon free shipping. Took almost 3 weeks to get the camera, which was in stock. Lame Amazon, lame. Should have paid the extra 20 bucks and bought it locally.

The search put to rest.......2007-09-21

I have searched and put to the test the Sony T100, the sony W200, and for the money they ask, i only found the Sony T100 to be a worthy contender, but never felt like I was getting the value for the quality output of the T100, so I tried the Canon SD750 and it definately fits the shoe. It is a well rounded camera for the price, the quality and features are really really good. I have had this camera for a about 4 weeks. The included cables and manuals are great, and the installation cd is full of content. you can tell canon really wanted you to keep their product.
Overall you cannot go wrong, put it to the test, and dip in. I will post my pics, look for "pictures by Tony" on the side notes.

Pros: Great creativity to take great pictures. Fast start up, very customizable. Design is slim, small and sturdy. Great video camera, quality is great,note: Learn how to use the zoom in and out for the video when recording. Big 3" screen, bright and vivid colors. Simply Awesome. Overall great battery life.

cons: Make sure you charge your battery on long trips. Camera Edit program is ok. Needs more transitions on picture playback. Not for the usual point and shoot guy, some may not be attracted by all the camera can do. Buttons could have been a little more bubbly to the feel of the fingers. I told you I was a little picky, be happy. Oh, one more thing, there is an auto setting for almost everything( pets and Kids??), but what happened to the auto setting for sports(this was huge for me), unless I missed something, they only have it for the video aspect of the camera.

Love My Nuvi.......2007-09-24

We bought the 660 to take on a trip from KC Mo to Houston, moving our son there. The Nuvi helped on Highways, local streets, finding food & gas, plus store locations in Houston once we got there. Nice size display & easy to follow. Liked the advance warnings of which lane to stay in on 6 lane hiways, moving fast. Only thing I can't imagine is how a single driver could change screens etc by him/herself while whipping down busy streets, if it were attached to the windshield. I held ours while someone else drove. Miss Nuvi is my new best friend.

I love/hate it!.......2007-09-24

This is my first GPS nav device, so I don't know if my experiences are common to most GPS users, but I find the NUVI 660 as mixed a bag of love and hate as anything I've ever bought.

First the love. The navigation function is great. Lots of points of interest and the interface, for the most part is o.k.(more on that in the hates). Since I know my way to work, the nav function doesn't get that regular a work out. However I do use its bluetooth capabilities which work great. I also use it to play audio books I store on my SD card. Also great. Really great.

The hates. The sound - amplifier/speaker combo sucks big time. I've had to return the unit twice because the sound went out. Even at max volume, you can't hear the unit with your windows down, or in traffic. This is a major advantage of oem nav systems that come with cars. They use the amp and speakers of the cars stereo. But then they're not portable from car to car which I like since I have three cars. Hate number 2. The interface uses sequence keypad instead of a QWERTY. This makes typing an address or place name a major pain and is simple enough to correct in software.

Even though I'm on my 3rd unit, I still love it for the bluetooth and audio book capabilities. You just need an aux input on your car stereo so you can plug into the head phone jack on the nuvi so you can hear the thing.

I bought this before leaving for a vacation to Hawaii. I was so happy I did. Since then I've traveled out of state a few times and it has been such a help in getting around different places. The best features are that it is very simple to use, has a nice sized easy to read screen, and verbally gives clear directions. I did have an issue with the "blue tooth" part, I was trying to utilize the blue tooth feature with my cell phone. It worked okay, but then at one point started this "blue tooth updating" drama and would not allow me to change screens, it just froze up with the updating. It would get to 80%, then freeze. Luckily after multiple attempts, I was able to get out of that screen. Don't expect perfection. Sometimes it takes you on longer routes. However, overall it gets you where you need to go and saves you a lot of stress when driving in unfamiliar territory.

Excellent product.......2007-09-21

After much deliberation between various GPS devices, I settled on the 660.
So far, after about a month of usage, I have yet to find a downside. Good screen size and very good brilliance. I'm very glad that this model has voice, without which, I would not have been a happy camper. However, as an insignificant side note, when you deviate from the suggested route, the female voice says, "recalculate" in a tone of voice that I swear is condescending. In any event, recovery with the new route is quick and accurate. After one month of operation, I have found the unit to be approximately 98% accurate...Close enough for both government work as well as myself.

The enclosed window mount was useless to me as it is illegal in California to affix a GPS to the windshield. I opted to purchase the friction mount from Amazon. It arrived, however the connector between the bean-bag and the 660 was missing. If you go this route, be sure to order the complete unit for aprox. $1 more. My fault, not Amazons. I called Garmin for help. They asked me if I had purchased the unit from them. My negative answer didn't seem to phase them in the least. It was in stock and they would send one out. The part to arrive in from 3-5 days. The cost? Nada! I damn near fainted. Where does one encounter such a similar customer oriented firm these days? It turns out that the representative I spoke to used a 660 as his own personal GPS.
As far as the traffic data portion is concerned, I may or may not purchase the add-on when the free aspect runs out...3 months from now. It might be more beneficial in areas other than Los Angeles where most of the freeways are displayed in red (bad news) most of the time. But then...

Bottom line -- As far as the fairly naive user goes, it more than hits the mark. Add to that the great attitude of Garmins customer service.

Flash Drive.......2007-09-24

This is more convenient than a CD or DVD. There are no hassles of formating. You can back up to 4 GB of data. Just plug it into the USB and you are set.

Just remove U3 else either it will take too much time on older PC or will not be recognized.

Sleek, sturdy, fast and cheap.......2007-09-19

This is great. Its fast, the prepackaged software is a little annoying, but can be removed (or used if you are virus conscious). It fits on the key chain, doesnt have a cap (that can be lost), and is cheap. I am putting Linux on it so I can boot off of USB anywhere and take my OS with me :) It gets banged around on my massive key chain, and I have no worries. Ive had it about a month+ now. have already recommended to friends/family.

Negative stars was not an option.......2007-09-17

1. I am a Mac user, I can't uninstall the U3 software without a PC
2. My PC at work, an XP sp2 machine can not even recognize the data storage partition. It only sees the U3 disk mounting.
3. My HP multifunction printer (L7780) cannot recognize the data storage partition because of the U3 disk mounting.
4. I can't even evaluate if this is a good USB device because the U3 software renders it useless every single instance I want to use it.
5. There are plenty of third party applications out there that do exactly the same thing that the "smartdisk" software purports to do WITHOUT destroying all functionality of the device.
6. SanDisk is a decent company. I understand why they want to include "value added" to their device, but this software significantly DECREASES the value of the device. People want things that work. This clearly doesn't.

This is truly a wonderful product. It's plug-and-play as advertised, practically like any usb flash drive you can buy....just bigger with more room. It is very light too, but doesn't feel flimsy. The usb cable plugs into one side of the hard drive, and a small rubber flap closes the port when not in use.

Though it's pretty durable, it's easy to scratch. If you want to keep it looking nice, then I'd recommend getting a small felt pouch for it, or the hard case that's advertised on amazon under the "People who bought this product also purchased" part.

I've recommended this product to three people so far and they all have thanked me for it. They love this item and are glad they purchased it.

This item is just perfect for my Toshiba A135, it stylish perfecly combine with my Dark Blue Laptop. The 160gb 5400rpm hard drive is above the average right now. You can fill it with all your documents, music and movies at the same time. Fit's perfectly in your pocket. The USB cable is just fine if you are using it with a laptop. Works full in Vista.

Very good product to buy. Can easily fit into my pocket. Looks so stylish for a harddisk, would rather qualify for a classy cigarrete case. ;). No hassles of carrying long wires and power adapters. instantly connects and fast transfers - 80 gigs took around an hour to transfer.

Avoid this drive if you value your data.......2007-09-11

I purchased this drive in Feb. of 2007. Almost six months to the day after I purchased it the drive stopped working. There was no indication that it was going to stop working. One day I used the drive in the morning, in the afternoon I went to use it again and nothing happened. I tried the drive on two laptops and two desktops using Windows XP and Windows 2000 without success. When I put my ear to the drive it was silent and there was no vibrations. I really needed the data on my drive so I sent it away to a data recovery service. It is going to cost me more than $1500 to recover my data. I could have bought 10 of these drives for the same amount of money. But, I wouldn't spend a dime on another one of these drives. A drive should be able to last more than six months.

Canon PowerShot has Power.......2007-09-24

I wasn't sure if I should get this or the Olympus, but I made a good choice. The charged batteries always last longer than we expect, the camera is purse sized, although a bit heavy. It has the reach I want in a lens for a small digital - the only problem is that, sometimes, the autofocus focuses on the wrong things.

I have several digitals. This by far is my favorite one. So many cool features. It's got the large lense of my Olympus C700, the photo quality of my Nikon D40, and the portability and features (and then some) of my Fuji 5100. I really prefer to use manual mode so that I can control shutter and aperture. Took me very little time (about a hundred photos or so) to build a mastery.

What I like most so far:
- Incredibly high quality photos even at max zoom (including digital zoom)
- A high speed continuous shooting mode
- Neat flipover LCD screen
- A viewfinder that displays exactly what my photos will look like as I compose
- Just enough buttons to avoid having to navigate through just one feature screen
- Helpful histogram display option
- uses 4 AA's; hooray for no proprietary battery
- super cool Accent photo mode which will result in a black and white photo but with one color that you preselect still in view (think of a rose bush with only red roses and all backround in shades of gray)

The images are terrific. They thought of everything. But just to be fair there are a few wish list items.

- Viewfinder is a touch smaller than I would like.
- Focusing the viewfinder is required more often than I would expect
- The camera width is just a bit narrow; an extra half inch on the left side would feel more comfortable in its grip

I like that the flash does not pop up automatically. This keeps from accidental firing in locations where flash is not permitted. I also found lots of menu choices which give me control over sounds, power timer, etc. easy to navigate.

But it's all about the pictures. No need for extra lenses. When I need to get close, I just zoom in. There's even a Super Macro mode that gave me some stunning looks at ants on a branch and a bee on a feeder.

This is a terrific all around camera. Even shots taken through windows look clear. No noticable noise.

I recommend it highly (especially now that the price is dropping). Best value for the top quality you'll be getting.

Perfect digital camera.......2007-09-23

Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3 IS 6MP with 12x Image Stabilized ZoomO'd put off buying a digital camera until we saw what my brother's Canon PowerShot Pro Series S3 IS could do. We needed one for everyday and and special occasion photos and my daughter (the aspiring artist) wanted one with more creative capabilities. We bought this camera just before a cross-country trip. It takes beautiful pictures and is simple enough for me to use. With extra memory cards and a car battery charger my daughter took over 700 pictures a day. Needless to say she used all of the different settings, all the pictures came out well and using the high-speed, action setting she was able to take clear pictures out a car window driving at freeway speeds!!! We are so glad we bought this camera. It's the perfect camera for both of us.

This camera was a major improvement on our old point and click. Make sure you order a separate, larger, memory card and read the manual to get the most out of the features.

This is an amazing point and shoot camera...good for amateurs as well as professional photgraphers. The videos are amzing too ...great clear sound recording and no blurriness. With this camera there is no need for you to buy a video cam. It works better than Sony Video cam. I bought it when it just arrived in market for $400, and it was every penny worth its this price as well...its a lot cheaper now! Someone stole mine in the JCPenney store last weekend and I am planning to buy another one of the same model now! I miss my lovely camera so much...:(
