got it for PE exam, now I use it every day.......2007-06-28
This was one of the few calculators on the list for the PE exam. It was also the cheapest (I think). I bought it, and started practicing with it at work so I'd be comfortable with it at the exam. It turns out that I love the data entry format. I used HP's RPN for a LONG time and thought it would be difficult to switch, but this makes even more sense because you enter the problem EXACTLY how you would write it on the paper (i.e. square root sign comes BEFORE the number)! I don't even use my trusty old HP now unless I accidentally leave this one at home. I am even thinking about getting a 2nd one so I can have 1 at work and 1 at home to study with (and I've heard that sometimes calculators walk away during lunch hour at PE exams, so it might be good to have a 2nd hiding in my bag).
The only flaws I've found so far are the instruction manual, quick auto power-off and the plastic cover. The manual does not go into enough detail but there are several references available online so, not a huge deal for me. When I get close to the exam, I'll probably print out my favorite and take it with me. The quick power-off (after about 6 minutes) can be frustrating, but I haven't really had a huge problem with it.
The plastic cover is annoying because it snaps on and off instead of slides. I don't know why this bothers me, it just does. Also, it would have been nice if the cover was flat. Instead, it is slightly rounded with "feet" to stabilize it. The feet work great as long as the entire calculator is sitting on a flat surface but if one corner is off, the whole calculator rocks back and forth every time you hit a button. Also, with the cover snapped onto the back, it is kind of uncomfortable to hold in one hand and enter data. With the cover off it is better, but I'm worried I'll loose the cover.
I am definately happy that I purchased this calculator instead of the more expensive HP that was on the PE approved list.

This little thing is really a gem! I'm shocked at how much math a $20 calculator can do. Really helped me get through the FE as this thing solves quadratic & cubic equations, and even does numeric integration and differentiation! A very well designed tool.

I bought the HP 33S last year for the sole purpose of taking the PE. I have been using HP calculators and the RPN logic for more than 20 years and felt very compfortable with it; however, the 33S was a dissapointment to me, for one reason, good luck trying to see the decimal point, so 33.457 looks like 33457, that one little thing turned me off from using the 33S, so I went and purchased the casio fx-115MS, what a calculator!!! So many functions, and ease of use, the two lines are a beauty, and the numbers are huge, and don't forget the decimal point, I can really see it. I think I'll buy another one as back up. Now, if only the Casio can take the PE test for me!

The perfect camera.......2007-09-27
I have been amazed at this camera since I opened the package. It is by far the best I have owned. I have had it now over a week and still have yet to recharge the battery. I have taken many pictures at the highest settings along with video and I still have a full charge.
What I really like is the size and weight of it. This camera has now become part of my everyday pocket items. I don't leave the house without it and my cell phone. ;)
Pros: long battery life, big view screen, very light weight, ease of use, size, quality of output... too many for me to list..
Cons: None for me. Some may not like the lithium battery but you can get a spare for around $30 and with the life I am having so far, you should never have to worry about running out of charge while out taking pictures.

This camera takes incredible pictures. The zoom is amazing. Love the fact that I can plug the battery into the wall and recharge without having to buy new batteries. I have now has this camera for about 6 months and have taken at least a thousand pictures. I carry it with me everywhere, so make sure I have the chance to photograph that toilet on the side of the road, or people with a washer strapped to the roof of their car (yes, these things happen!). I have photographed myriad things, from classic vacation shots to the absurd, but reviewing my most recent offerings from a trip to Vancouver, BC really reminded me how great a deal this camera is. At one point, while riding thru Stanley Park on rented bikes, I got the wild hair to use my gorillapod to strap the thing to the front of my bike. I took a couple of videos from this position (complete with sound) and a TON of pictures - all while the bike was in motion. Most of the pictures are crisp and fantastic, in spite of the shaking and bumps and general madness of me taking photos from the back of a mountain bike.
So - get thee this camera (look at the price! it's $40 cheaper than when I bought it!) and get thee a gorillapod --- let your creative juices flow! Have fun with it!
OH - and don't go over a gig on the memory card --- and get a decent card too, one of the "super speeds" --- it will keep the cameras ridiculously fast response time at it's max!

I think this is perfect for kids starting off. My kids love all the funky sounds and the beats.

I have a 61 key known brand name keyboard. I purchased this so I could easily carry it around. I see how good it can be as a toy - but I don't think it will be of any use if you are looking for a keyboard to practice on.

Regarding a power adapter, I found some really useful advice by another reviewer.
"I've noticed a lot of people here were having a hard time finding the right adapter for their specific keyboards, and I've got a solution. You don't actually need to buy a Casio brand adapter to fit your Casio keyboard (matching model numbers can be tricky online). Here's a fool- proof method for finding the right adapter every time;
On the back or underside of your keyboard, there should be a voltage rating (which looks like a number followed by 'V'. For example, '9V' or '8V') and a milliamp rating (which looks like a larger number followed by 'mA'. For example, '850mA' or '900mA').
With those two numbers, you can find the exact adapter you need. :) For example, my keyboard is rated '9V 850mA', which looks like a bunch of gobbldeygook until you type it into a search engine or show it to a salesperson at any electronics or toy store. Almost all adapters are rated this way and regardless of the manufacturer (i.e. Casio, Yamaha), you'll always get the exact adapter you need when using voltage and milliamp numbers. Just be sure the other end of the adapter is the right fit for your input jack, and you're all set."

My daughters use this keyboard to practice their piano lessons since we have nowhere to put a piano. You can play more than one note at a time (unlike some other keyboards) and the microphone headset is a great hit! Who knows what kind of musicians they'll be with this to work with!

Technological progress, unfortunately, is not always driven by sound principals. "More" has taken over as a main goal of life... where as quality and simplicity might be of higher long term value. What about people who just want a cell phone to talk? Talk?? Oh, right, say the developers, we forgot... too busy adding bells and whistles... but I digress. The exilim series is a GOOD one from casio. It's best feature is it's weight and size IF that's important to you -- is to me in this case. The pix are as good as most cameras that size, the sexy black is a show stopper, but 1o pixels??? How much is too much? You won't be disappointed with this camera.

I have had absolutely no problems with this camera. Long battery life, great pictures! It's small enough that it fits comfortably in my pocket, yet it has a large LCD screen making pictures a quick task. I am satisfied with this digital camera, I would recommend this camera to anyone. It may be a bit on the pricey side, but I have yet to regret buying the camera. At the rate this camera is going, I doubt I will!

I currently have a silver one of these and a 7.2megapixel Casio as well.
Huge rear screen is a bonus and for those out there that hate puttons etc all over the camera, this is the one.
You can go deep into the menu structure or just stay on top and shoot all you like.
This is a go anywhere type of camera and is robust enough to be used by the kids if. I would like to have it have a longer exposure time as I sometimes like to take long exposure night shats but that is life. I use the 7.2 for that.
the flash is bright enough for a normal size room. and the antishake is great.
I can see it won't be long before a touch screen is added to the back instead of buttons, for furute models.
Overall a great little camera with great big features and capabilities.

I really like the camera it is one of the best I had so far. The pictures look sharper and clearer. The only thing that I don't like is the pictures it takes at night they don't come out clear; however,I haven't found a digital camera that takes good night pictures yet so that's why I took away only 1 star. Overall, love the camera and it is a good buy.

Been having it for two weeks now and i must say, this piano feels and sounds as good as other digital pianos that cost three times as much. If all you want is the piano sound, then this is for you. If you want all the different effects then go for the px310 that costs $100 more.
Good practice keyboard.......2007-09-23
Good entry-level digital piano (especially for the money). They've worked at making the keys have a real weighted "thump" (more so than many acoustic pianos). Numerous other features I may or may not use (though I use the metronome). One caveat is that it's more sensitive than many acoustic pianos (even at its least sensitive setting). So if you get really used to its feel (which I like), and then try to play a well-used acoustic, some of your notes may not sound (which can be disconcerting).

After trying this out in the store, and reading some reviews, I was worried that the 'clacking' of the keys/hammers might bother me. I went ahead and jumped the gun, and figured that at just over $400, it was a great value anyways.
I have no regrets. After plugging it in, I found that the clacking was not an issue at all -- it's hardly noticeable. Maybe I got an updated release of the model with less clacking???,... or maybe it's just more noticeable in the store??? Not sure. Definitely less clacking than the CVK100? in-store at Target.
Cons: The pedal is flimsy. The keys might be slightly heavy, but still smooth.
Best Buy sells it for $600, but it comes with a stand with 3 built-in pedals in the stand(I wonder why I can't find this package anywhere else.), but I decided to go cheap with Amazon. They delivered it faster than I expected.

It's hard to find an entry level digital piano with weighted keys for true piano like action, but the Casio Privia PX110 delivers. The piano, stand and seat all arrived on time for my wife's birthday.(I recommend the CS65 stand) She is very happy with the quality craftmanship, the sound, controls and of course the action on the keys....the PX110 feels like a professional keyboard, not a cheesy "toy" keyboard. I recommend this keyboard for anyone who wants to learn to play, or who already plays. It's a great value and a wonderful addition to any home.

I ended up buying two. If you need to be able to do more than simple addition & subtraction but don't need a fully programmable scientific calculator, this one should work just fine.
Great Calculator - Teeny Weeny Manual.......2007-08-30
Being relatively new to scientific calculators the instruction manual is quite important..... well guess what, despite the warnings from others that this manual is almost unreadable I took a chance and purchased this calculator and lo and behold it's true, couldn't read the thing. Whipping out the magnifier and doing my best goober-impression with a blanket sized manual, I managed to read some before realizing how ridiculous this was. Finding the manual and appendix on-line I proceeded to try and print it but it's the same thing, same size. Between the OS X printer driver, Adobe Reader print selections (all a tangled mess)and the small size after two hours of trying to print a larger "typed manual" using duplex printing, much wasted ink and paper, I gave up and decided to returned it. The state of printing a simple B&W PDF manual in 2007 is deplorable, why can't they get something fundamental like this right. If you are counting on the "manual" to help, forget it, unraveling this huge single sheet of paper in class is a joke, if you know 'calculators' by all means, have at it.
8th Grade Daughter gives it two thumbs up.......2007-08-24
After reading the Amazon online review of the Casio FX-115ES, I decided to give it a try for my 13-year-old daughter who just entered the 8th grade. She is taking Alegbra 1 honors. I was a little hesitant since TI seems to be the dominant calculator at her school. She came home from school and was amazed that the calculator would simplify fractions in natural language. For example, she entered 2 divided by 22 and the calculator gave her the answer of 1/11. Of course, you click one key and it will give you the decimal equivalent. So far, I'm very happy with the purchase. I did purchase it locally at target for $18.99.

This is a pretty nice calculator, and Casio was able to put an amazing amount of gadgetry in it for below $20.
There are some little things that could be problematic: 1) The manual is printed on two poster-sized folded sheets of paper. Very small print, too. A bound booklet would be much nicer for the amount of information that needs to be covered.
2) It does too much for a school calculator. Some of the pretty-print/textbook features I consider disadvantageous for math understanding.
3) The algebraic/textbook entry becomes cumbersome for doing long repeated calculations -- also, there's no way to store an expression/formula/equation for use after (auto) power-off.

I was very impressed with the capabilities of this inexpensive calculator - it did everything I would want for the exam, except perhaps being able to store pre-programmed equations, like the HP-33s. I had been using a TI 36X solar, and the added functions and display size of the Casio shaved quite a bit of time off my computations. I use it daily at work now. (Though I have already ordered the new HP 35s - I just couldn't resist! Any engineer who went through school using one knows that an HP RPN calculator is a "real" calculator!)
Warning - this calculator is no longer allowed in the PE exams by NCEES. I have no idea why. But, the similar 115"MS" model is still allowed, and is presumably the same calculator as the ES.

The perfect camera.......2007-09-27
I have been amazed at this camera since I opened the package. It is by far the best I have owned. I have had it now over a week and still have yet to recharge the battery. I have taken many pictures at the highest settings along with video and I still have a full charge.
What I really like is the size and weight of it. This camera has now become part of my everyday pocket items. I don't leave the house without it and my cell phone. ;)
Pros: long battery life, big view screen, very light weight, ease of use, size, quality of output... too many for me to list..
Cons: None for me. Some may not like the lithium battery but you can get a spare for around $30 and with the life I am having so far, you should never have to worry about running out of charge while out taking pictures.
Buy this camera! You will not be disappointed.

This camera takes incredible pictures. The zoom is amazing. Love the fact that I can plug the battery into the wall and recharge without having to buy new batteries. Battery last a very long time...especially for a digital camera. Even comes with a cord to connect and view pictures on the TV. Very happy with this purchase!!!!

I have now has this camera for about 6 months and have taken at least a thousand pictures. I carry it with me everywhere, so make sure I have the chance to photograph that toilet on the side of the road, or people with a washer strapped to the roof of their car (yes, these things happen!). I have photographed myriad things, from classic vacation shots to the absurd, but reviewing my most recent offerings from a trip to Vancouver, BC really reminded me how great a deal this camera is. At one point, while riding thru Stanley Park on rented bikes, I got the wild hair to use my gorillapod to strap the thing to the front of my bike. I took a couple of videos from this position (complete with sound) and a TON of pictures - all while the bike was in motion. Most of the pictures are crisp and fantastic, in spite of the shaking and bumps and general madness of me taking photos from the back of a mountain bike.
So - get thee this camera (look at the price! it's $40 cheaper than when I bought it!) and get thee a gorillapod --- let your creative juices flow! Have fun with it!
OH - and don't go over a gig on the memory card --- and get a decent card too, one of the "super speeds" --- it will keep the cameras ridiculously fast response time at it's max!

Better than the TI .......2007-06-24
I am a math teacher at a new private Bronx high school, and compared the TI-83 with the Casio in numerous regards before deciding which one our school would use. Hands down, the Casio wins, and it is cheaper as well. Note - I do not work for Casio or TI.
A) The calculator is more user friendly. The options are menu driven in a more intuitive way. What took me a minute or two to locate and figure out out the TI, took less than half the time on the Casio. Don't trust me- see for yourself.
B) The Casio is slightly faster than the TI
C)Features: The casio adds a dynamic graphing system (lets you change a coefficient and watch the graph change), which is very useful when teaching. I also like the EQUA feature, which lets my students calculate 2/3 equations, 2/3 unknowns, and solve quadratic or polynomial equations. Maybe the TI does this too, but I couln't figure it out.
D) The color thing I suppose is nice, but I use the CFX-9750, which is black and white and cheaper.
The only downside is that most colleges use the TI's, unfortunately. I liken it to most places using Microsoft when there are better alternatives out there (monopoly power). Anyway, a student who uses the Casio can do anything the TI-83 can do.
I'm a big fan, and my students seem to like it.

The Casio fx-9750G PLUS is a great calculator for some things, terrible for others. Doing polynomial equations is simple, expecially when compared to a Texas Instruments' version. On the other hand, I have yet to figure out how to do a standard deviation. Keep in mind that if you're in high school, your course is almost definitely using a Texas - I can't tell you how many nights I've spent poring over the manual figuring out how to do the simplest of operations, while those with Texas Instruments know how to do it in a matter of minutes. If you're using it outside a formal math course in a situation that doesn't require too many complicated operations, it's a great calculator - I highly recommend. But if you're Pre-Calc or up, do yourself a favor and go grab a Texas.

This msg is posted on the 14 of June, 2005. Folks don't order this calculator if you need anytime before August 2005. I placed an order in end May, I am still waiting for the package. Late yesterday when I viewed my current orders, I noticed that the date when I am expected to receive this will be 5th of August 2005. Amazon still shows that the product will be shipped in 24 hours on its website.

These ribbons are quite good. The printing is crisp, and they are very easy to use. They are great for how I use them, just labeling DVDs of my kids' movies.
Note, though, that the description is a little incomplete. From the box it says they work with all CW series title printers (not just CW-50 and CW-75, as mentioned here). I have the CW-100, and they work just fine.
Two words of caution:
1. These thermal printers require a *very* smooth surface, preferably a completely bare CD/DVD. I learned the hard way by trying it on inkjet-writable DVDs that have a rougher surface...it just leaves a light shadow of the intended text.
2. Don't expect these these to perform like professional-grade CD/DVD printers. They work best only for standard, monochrome (single color) text. Custom fonts and images won't turn out well, especially larger text/images. (That leaves horizontal streaks--I think it's from where the ribbon overlaps itself when making subsequent passes.)

Won't print on rough surfaces (ink printable). I knew this ahead of time, but I got a deal on 1000 Verbatim 4x white printable and wish I could use this on them. Taiyo-Yuden silvertops are the best made, and this printer works great on them.
I get about 50 prints out of this using the keyboard (CW-75) and never trying the software. I bought this for $3.99 from an Amazon seller for black. Ive seen 3-packs in the store for over $20 which I would never pay.
If I hadnt found a ribbon here for $4, my Casio would still be sitting in its box. Get with the times, Casio, you already got us on the $99+ cost of the product which has a short lifespan, give us a break on the refills!
