Good Cordless Phone.......2004-03-30

The people writing bad reviews for all the Panasonic Cordless phones must have a different colored phone. If you would read the details on each of the extension phones, for some reason the White Phone has a different type battery than the silver, violet, or black. It has an NiMH battery that can be charged without running down. The others have a NiCAD battery of which I can't figure out why. It doesn't make since to have one you have to run completely down. You should have full time usage of the cordless phone. I never leaave my phone off the charger for a long time. It's always back in the charger by at least bedtime. I love the phones except for that. I don't know panasonic was thinking about. They should make all the other ones good by supplying a NiMH battery and a new charger.

Good, But I Still Want Better.......2003-05-09

A nice system overall, but not nearly perfect. We purchased a set of these to replace our burnt out Siemens Gigaset 2402 system. While we were happy to have something that worked (the Siemens system had died a slow death over about a year and ultimately became unusable after a little over two years of use) the features and design of this system leave much to be desired. Numerous minor inconveniences and awkwardnesses make these phones less than they could be--nothing major, and perhaps only noticeable when compared with the excellently designed Siemens phones (really nothing more than the difference between Japanese and German design).

Two features stand out in comparison with our retired Siemens phones, one negative and one positive. On the positive side, these phones support detection of voice messages on an existing message system, so that it is easy to see from any handset whether there are unplayed messages on either line. On the negative side, the system does not support handset naming. We imagined this would be a minor inconvenience when we bought the phones, but it has proved to be a major drawback: there's simply no way to get the entire family to learn what number goes with what phone. When we had the Siemens system, which supports handset naming, the we had a working intercom system (not to mention convenient transfers of calls); now we're back to shouting.

Great Case - Might buy another.......2003-04-26

I purchased this case for a computer I was putting together for my parents. It's been 18 months since I put together my own computer (with another Antec case), and all I can say is that this is one nice case. The fit and finish all are fine. The front-panel USB (x2) and firewire ports were nice, and there is easy access to drive bays. Plugging in the smart power supply to the motherboard connector yields one pretty quiet computer. I'd use this one again in my next computer, no doubt.

Don't expect traditional Antec quality!!.......2003-04-18

Antec has a reputation for producing high-quality case. I bought the "Performance Plus 660" a few months ago and was amazed by the finish and ease of use of the case, and the quality of the "True Power 330" power supply that came with it.

I was, however, deceived with the present iteration. Antec reused the hugely successful case and outfitted it with a less than stellar SL300 power supply. While that combination sounds good on paper, I noticed at once some manufacturing defects on the case, most notable as a bad fit of each side panel with the frame. Moreover, the SL300 power supply casing feels cheap and ply esily to pressure, a sure sign that less-than-stellar material and workmanship were used.

I am left to wonder whether I stumble across a bad lot, or whether Antec decided to boost his bottom line by cutting corners. Even if the price is right, users expecting Antec quality will be left high and dry.

Excellent Case.......2003-04-14

This is an excellent mini tower case. This case has many great features: 2 front usb / firewire, room for cooling fans, rails for 5.25 drives and powered by Antec power supplies.

Great Case!!!.......2003-02-11

This is the best case u can buy for under [money]. It includes usb connections as well as firewire ports. The power supply that comes with it is probably the best 300 watt psu on the market. It has 220watts on the 3.3v and 5v rails which is the new recommendation for AMD processors. In fact its probably stronger in this regard than alot of 400 watt supplies on the market. U cant go wrong with this case.

This revolutionary, new digital video recorder will change the way you watch television. ReplayTV is a separate unit from your TV--similar to a VCR but instead of using tapes, ReplayTV records television programs digitally and stores the information on a hard drive, much like a computer. And because ReplayTV has no moving parts, there's no wear on video heads or on your favorite recordings.

ReplayTV can store up to 28 hours of programming, depending on the video-recording quality that you select. (A higher quality picture will take up more storage space than a lower quality recording.) At the lowest setting, the picture quality is better than standard VHS tape and provides 28 hours of storage. At the middle setting, the picture is better than a S-VHS tape, but storage capacity is lower (approximately 14 hours). The highest quality setting approaches the quality level of DVD but further reduces storage capacity to about 9.5 hours' of recording time.

In addition to offering you the functions of a conventional tape-based VCR, ReplayTV offers you impressive new personalized TV viewing and recording. ReplayTV temporarily records the TV signal as you watch it, allowing you to instantly pause and then resume playing a live program. After you resume watching, you can also fast-forward or rewind your TV program (much like a videotape recorder). An Instant Replay button on your remote allows you a quick replay of any live TV event at any time.

ReplayTV also allows you to create channels that contain programming on a specific theme. We were impressed with ReplayTV's QuickSkip feature, which allows you to eliminate TV commercials on programs that have already been recorded. QuickSkip is so easy to use that it's causing a bit of an uproar in the television industry, which fears that the feature will cut into its vital ad revenue. Some major media companies (including Time Warner, Disney, NBC, and Showtime) recently made a major financial investment in Replay Networks and may use the technology to eventually add supplementary programming information and services for viewers.

The first generation of new technologies usually contains a few glitches, and ReplayTV is no exception. When we used ReplayTV with our direct satellite receiver, the universal remote control occasionally tuned in the wrong channel. Changing channels was also a bit slow; the screen blanked and the existing channel reappeared for a second before switching to the desired channel. The ReplayTV also displays minor video pixelation during programs with rapid movement or with a large portion of black on the screen. You can reduce the pixelation by setting the video recording quality to the highest setting. However, by doing so, you sacrifice some recording storage.

Another drawback is that the ReplayTV does not yet allow you to record a live program while watching a live program on another channel. Unless you choose to directly view programming from a second video source, you won't be able to change the channel during recording. However, you can watch a recorded program while ReplayTV records a live program for you.

Setup of the ReplayTV is fairly simple but painfully slow. During our test setup, we connected both a cable-box tuner and a direct-broadcast satellite system to the unit. If you're comfortable hooking up a VCR or home-theater system, then the ReplayTV system setup should not be a problem for you. However, you will need to have an open phone jack near your setup so that ReplayTV can automatically update your TV programming guide every day.

The first time you connect to the ReplayTV network via your phone line, you'll need to provide some information so that the service can customize the programming guide to your viewing preferences. Our first-time connection had an unusually long download time (almost two hours) for software updates and programming-guide information.

Previously, on our home-theater setup, we had to push the remote-control buttons numerous times to switch back and forth between cable and satellite programming signals. The ReplayTV guide eliminated this annoyance by seamlessly integrating access to both signals with a single on-screen guide that contains seven days' worth of channel and programming summaries.

A major advantage to ReplayTV is that it doesn't charge any additional service fees after you make your initial purchase. This is not the case with some other digital video recorders, which offer similar programming guide services for a monthly or annual fee. It is worth noting, however, that ReplayTV plans to eventually subsidize its free programming guide service with nonintrusive advertising. However, we encountered no advertising during our test evaluation of ReplayTV.

don't buy ReplayTV.......2001-10-18

I bought the replaytv 60 hr unit and have had nothing but problems for 7 months. The first unit had a problem with the modem. It would connect to the server only once in a great while. The next 4 (that's right 4 replacement units that replayTV sent) all skipped. I should say they skipped and froze up to be acurate. The last unit not only skipped but also rebooted itself every half hour or so. I am currently waiting for the next unit(these were all different units with different serial numbers not my same unit repaired) but I have given up hope of ever having a working unit. The fact that 5 different units have had problems shows the widespread unreliability of the ReplayTV hardware. When replaytv works it is great but this got to be the worst electronics device I have ever had as far as reliability and I have had quite a few. The first unit I had worked great other than the modem problem. It recorded everything and was a joy to use. The only problem is that if the modem does not work then the on screen tv listings are not updated and you eventually can't record the shows you want. The other units they sent have just been horrible and the last unit with the rebooting was the worst. I am very technically oriented and after countless hours with their tech support each time it was determined that it was hardware/software defects. Replaytv has tried to get the problems resolved but 5 replaytv units not working is just too much. What ever you do...don't buy ANY ReplayTV products or you will get to know their tech. support people very well. Remember, if I have had a problem with 5 different units than the likelyhood that you will have a problem is probably pretty good no matter which model you buy. If you want a DVR then look at Tvio; they can't be worse than RepalyTV. I don't own Tivo but if I had it to do over again....I guess the $9.95 a month doesn't seem so much now. I spent $65.00 shipping it back the first few times before I got ReplayTV to pay shipping each way on later units. Stay away from anything ReplayTV.

Good for the 1st month or so.......2001-09-10

After regular use, Replay TV units break. The hard drive wears out and video/sound gets blotchy. I've returned two different defective units, and still have not received a replacement EIGHT WEEKS later. They do not honor their warranty. Also check out ... (Better Business Bureau). Under "Check Out A Company", punch up Replay TV in Mountain View, CA. I'm not the only one who is having trouble getting them to fix their bad product.

I like it!.......2001-08-25

It's hard to tell someone who has never had a ReplayTV how different it is than having a VCR. It's like trying to describe how a microwave oven changes your ability to eat to someone who has only an electric stove. I can watch what I want exactly when I want. I think that the only thing which was a little bothersome about the unit is that the volume level on the audio is set lower than that on my tv or vcr, but it's a really minor thing. I'm sure that any other product has it's "minor" issues as well. ReplayTV is a good product and I have no regrets about getting it.

Changes the way I watch TV.......2000-09-16

I wrote an earlier review, so I hope this one gets posted too. I had problems with installation that took a long time to solve. Once over that hurdle, I must admit that this is a terrific product. It changes the way I watch TV. I now watch what I want, when I want. While that was posible with a VCR, Replay makes it much easier. When I watch a previously recorded show with the Reply, it feels like the program is airing then. Also, the fast forward is instantaneous, like on a DVD. Installation was a chore, but the product is worth the effort.
