Short life span!.......2003-02-21
I've owned this phone for a little more than a year. At first I was very satisfied not only with the features, but also with the voice quality. Unfortunately, by now the phone is barely usable and I am already looking for a replacement.
First, the battery life was adequate for nearly the first year. I would get about 4 hours of talk time, which was okay. However, the standby time was not very good... If I left home for a weekend, the phone would inevitably be dead upon my return. However, after 1 year, the battery life has shortened significantly to about 2 hours of talk time. The indicator is also of very little use because it will go from 2 out of 3 bars to dead.
Secondly, the main reason I am replacing this phone (I could always buy a replacement battery) is that the phone randomly cuts out all the time. At first I thought it might be interference from my home wireless network, but I noticed this was also a common complaint from other users. Frankly, the frequent dead silences are too great of an annoyance for me and for the people I am talking to.
If this phone is still available for purchase, I would recommend against it.
Good sound with bad usability.......2002-12-28
I really wanted to like this phone. It has wall mount, digital spread spectrum, excellent sound quality, a comfortable handset, and a good feature list. After two days, I can't stand using it anymore.
- You can't dial the phone from the base if you are using the handset - defeats the whole purpose of multiple keypads.
- The caller ID won't stop blinking without picking up the handset and going through multiple menu items.
- The phone won't let you step through the names in the stored directory any faster than one per second.
- Speed dial only works on the base, not the handset.
- Speed dial and the stored directory don't work together.
- Transferring calls between the speaker phone and the handset is a tedious, noisy operation.
- No mute button.
- Too much loud beeping that you can't turn off.
In short - if you aren't a phone power user, don't pay for the extra features on this phone. If you are a power user, find a phone designed by someone with common sense. I'm still looking.

Yes, the lack of mute button is annoying.
I also like to turn off my ringer at night, and instead of having a switch on the phone (like my previous Panasonic cordless) you have to wade through several menus, while the thing beeps at you loudly for each menu item/choice. When my wife is sleeping while I try to set this... well, it's sort of against the whole *point* of turning the ringer off.
The other annoying thing I find is the "Voicemail indicator" (blinking light), while a very nice feature, often won't go off after you've deleted your mailbox of voicemail (this is phone company type voicemail service - not built-in voicemail on the phone - which it doesn't have). And now, the thing is permanently on (blinking). I can't seem to get it to go away, even after unplugging the unit. Weird.
Other than that, this phone is very nice.
Good all-round phone except for one major omission.......2001-06-08
This phone generally works well. The fast battery charging, caller-ID and sound quality are fine. Just one problem: there is no microphone mute! This seems to be an IMPORTANT, simple, feature lacking from most Panasonic phones. Why, I don't know. If I am in a conference call, and others are not easily heard, I have to turn the volume up to the max, and then the slightest sound (e.g. keyboard clicks) at my end engages the anti-microphony muting and I miss the next 10 second of their conversation!

Perfect complement to a pair of bookshelf speakers.......2007-02-04
I purchased this subwoofer to add bass to a pair of bookshelf speakers. It was very easy to match the subwoofer to the bookshelf speakers using the adjustable crossover control. The auto on/off function is a real convenience. Overall, this was a perfect addition to my stereo system. The bass is extremely tight and the 300-watt amp provides ample power. It's great for music (jazz, rock and classical) and for watching videos. If you want a subwoofer that will rattle your windows, then you should look for 12" subwoofer. But if you're looking for accurate and distortion-free bass at a "reasonable" sound volume, then this might be the one for you.

I have these connected to a 5.1 yamaha set and a 7.1 channel panasonic receiver, and the quality is amazing. If you want the room to shake, get these. The base is wonderful for the price. Highly recommended
Great little "big" sub!.......2007-01-04
I've had this sub since Sept. 2006 connected to a Denon AVR-1804 6.1 reciever. It has a break in period of 50 hours and it just sounds better & better over time. The bass is tight, crisp & clear, not at all boomy. The room is fairly large, 25 x 14, and I was actually looking to purchase the AS-P400 10" sub. But at $160, this little 8" was worth a shot and proved worthy. The only two very minor issues: 1. There is no phase switch or adjustment, so placement can be a little bit of a challenge, but then with subwoofers it usually is for optimum performance. 2. At VERY high volume, there is some distortion - then again it's an 8" driver.
The one major drawback: Hard to find an AS-300 or AS-400 now! I'd love to try the AS-400.
Athena Subwoofer Review.......2007-01-04
I purchased the Athena AS-800 for a basement stereo system. I was really surprised at the quality and sound of this subwoofer. I have larger subs for my other systems that cost a lot more and this 8 inch sub sounds as good as the big boys. Not quite as deep in the bass, but pretty darn close. I would recommend this small speaker for anyone looking for a resonable priced subwoofer for a stereo or video system
Big Bang for the Buck.......2007-01-03
I wanted to get an inexpensive subwoofer for the old Carver amp/tuner stereo system in my basement. Because I don't use my "man cave" that much, I only wanted to pay about $100 for a sub. I thought I would have to settle for a basic low fidelity unit with ordinary performance and no features, until I came across this Athena product. For about 119 bucks I got a great sounding unit that really brings out the rich, full low-end from my old Carver amp. The auto-on/off function is convenient and saves energy. Don't worry about matching the subwoofer with the other speakers. It was easy to fine tune the response level by ear to match a pair of JBL and smaller Cambridge Soundworks speakers.

Product defect with my Samsung and poor customer support.......2006-12-20
I've had my Samsung Projection TV problems - model HCN529W - for less than two years and I've already needed to spend over $250 in repairs. I'm very unsatified with this product and Samsung personnel in handling my requests for premature failure of this expensive projection TV. The red convergence modules failed so the picture was blurry and getting progressively worse over time. Samsung Customer Support representatives on the phone told me to have the repair done and then file for reimbursement, but when I followed their process, I was told that I would never have been eligible for reimbursement. I kept great records of all correspondence (phone conversations and emails), so I am starting a class action lawsuit against Samsung. Please send me an email if you have had similar problems with Samsung and particularly with this model project TV. I have just contacted a lawyer to begin the process of the class action filing and have similar reports from others with the exact same issue.
