The picture display on this tv looks execellent. The sound is clear and big. The unit is a little bulky but not as big as 5 inch tv use to be about 2 years ago. The product features says the unit runs on 4 AA batteries. The unit I received runs on 4 D batteries. Also on some web sites shows the unit to have a am/fm radio which is not true. The battery life is very good I ran the the unit about 9 hours before changing the batteries. I really don't like the purple knobs but you get use to it.

Goofy Fun for a Mini Home Disco.......2005-08-29

I am embarassed to say that I'd love to have my own home disco. So, as an experiment I bought these Antec LED lights to start. (What a dork.) Anyway, they look pretty much like the picture -- smaller than my index finger, rather bright. Three LED colors -- red, blue, green -- create a rainbow of steady or flashing colors. The power comes from your USB port.

There's a clear plastic wire that's about 4-1/2' long leading to a semi-see-thru dark gray box. Then the box has 2 more wires, about 1-1/3' long that end in the light tubes. You also get a couple of removable dark-gray clips that can hold and tilt the bases of the tubes. Some sticky pads are in the package with some very brief instructions. The wires are pretty thick and would be hard to conceal if that were important to you. The box has 3 controls -- on the side: 1 switch for on, off, and multi-blinking sound-activated modes; a sound sensitivity tuner wheel; and on the top: another small button that switches between each steady-on color. There's also another small red LED indicator to show that the power is on.

The light quality is quite good. It's better in the dark, of course, but these little tubes are not about to transmit photons any further than a couple of inches. The steady-on colors are red, yellow and blue and combined they create violet, aqua, and a pale yellow. All 3 are combined for a white. The final, steady-on mode is a slow color cycling rainbow.

The sound activated blinking is sensitive enough for my needs. If you have constant noise, the lights pulse brightly to create a little rainbow stobe. If the music quiets or stops, they dim or stop blinking. The colors in both tubes match at all times -- one is not green while the other red, or one on and one off, etc.

Overall, the product is exactly what I thought it would be. I wish the wires were longer and thinner and that this didn't have to be powered only by a USB port. And bigger or more lights would be fun, too. Amazon's/Office Depot's price is decent but the shipping & handling was another $10. That's a bit more than I'd expect to spend on this, but what the hell? Now I can goof anytime I want with these and WinAmp's AVS.
