5 out of 5 stars Very Good - Kensington Si670m Bluetooth Wireless Optical mouse.......2007-09-26

I'm very happy with this product. I requestes 5 days delivery and it arrived 3 days after it left the warehouse. So far, I'm happy with the service and product.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Product.......2007-09-23

I have had this mouse for a little over a month. Set up takes less than five minutes. Responds better than my corded optical desktop mouse. Can continue to use touchpad at the same time. Can adjust speed and settings. There is an on/off switch to conserve battery power - I have left it on and still using the original batteries (over a month). So far, well worth the money. Ergonomically very comfortable. Don't use a mouse pad and reponds great off a pillow or sofa.

4 out of 5 stars Only lacking in software support........2007-09-14

Really, Kensington. If I'm going to pay $50 for a serious mouse, I expect your own OS X software to recognize it. Bad. Very bad.

That's the kind of sloppiness that makes me want to write a scathing review, but in this instance, I can't. This mouse is too solid.

The range on this thing is ridiculously good. Just to test it, I practically went the length of my house away from my macbook, and the thing still worked fine. I haven't once had some of the interference problems that other reviewers have mentioned. I love that I can have my mac on one side of me, while with no line of sight whatsoever, I have this mouse on the other side of my body and it works great. Can't do that without a decent Bluetooth device.

More than that even, comfort is a huge factor. The side curves on this thing fit perfectly into the shape of a thumb, and the slight arch you get into the palm of your hand is a nice touch. Really, you don't want one of those ultra-tiny mice that look sleek in the packaging but cramp your hand up during practical use. Laptop-ers (and most desktop-ers) also don't want bulk. This is the perfect in-between size.

Still not sure on battery life, but I've used this extensively for a week and a half now and it's still running fine. I don't like that it doesn't sleep after inactivity. Now, if Kensington would only produce compatible software, this all may be a different story...

Get on that, Kensington, and I'll gladly revise my rating to 5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars Nice Job, Kensington!.......2007-09-04

We have been frustrated with poor wireless device performance on Windows machines in my office. Using Bluetooth mice and keyboards, even Microsoft brand, has been a failure in most cases (using Windows XP and Dell Latitudes, Optoplex and workstations). Some of the MS and Logitech devices with dongles or pods (not Bluetooth) work OK but are unsuitable for travel. I am accustomed to Mac Bluetooth keyboards and mice that simply work well consistently. We have been using the $20 Kensington PocketMouse Optical Limited Edition model 72218 (with retractable cord)on Dell laptops.

This Kensington mouse has been installed on a Dell Latitude D810 with XP and works very well. To other reviewers, a driver update is available on the Kensington website that allows horizontal scrolling to work on XP.

Don't know yet about battery life but the feel and size are a nice setup for office and yet small enough for travel use. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Kennsington Si670m better than the Targus AMB03US.......2007-08-17

I bought this mouse after my Targus Bluetooth AMB03US mouse stopped functioning. Just as well, because the Targus would loose the connection with my HP Pavillion laptop FREQUENTLY (hours), many times requiring me to reboot (when switching on and off, or re-discovering wouldn't work). The Kennsington has been MUCH better and only rarely (weekly) looses the connection (and I suspect the HP laptop may be the culprit as switching the Bluetooth button off and back on restored the connection - no sweat). I do miss the slightly better form factor of the Targus and the Targus did glide a bit smoother on my mouse pad - but on a hard surface there is no difference. I haven't really missed the rechargeable aspect of the Targus because the battery life of the Kennsington has been much better, now going on a month for the Kensington vs. a week for the Targus. The side click of the wheel for horizontal scrolling didn't initially work but I found an updated driver at MajorGeeks.com and click the Drivers link and scroll down to K72271 Si670 Bluetooth Wireless Notebook Mouse driver.

5 out of 5 stars Works great and easy to setup.......2007-09-17

This mouse has an on/off button and takes no time to setup. It does require a clean surface to work; a tiny piece of lint can make the mouse act randomly.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome mouse!.......2007-06-13

I purchased this mouse for my MacBook I recently bought and I couldn't be more happier with it. It's very comfortable and responsive. I just took it out the package, inserted the included batteries, plugged in the USB receiver, and was using it in seconds! I also like the feature of sliding the USB receiver onto the base of the mouse when I'm not using it since it activates a switch that turns the mouse off to preserve battery life. This also makes it very efficient for traveling since I don't have to hunt for the mouse and the USB receiver separately - they're hooked together. Very nice! Also, when I remove the USB receiver...the mouse automatically comes on & is ready for use.

So, I highly recommend this peripheral if you're looking for a portable mouse for your notebook.

5 out of 5 stars USB Mouse - Works with all OS.......2007-06-05

This one works with all OS with pre-installed drivers

1. Fedora Core (Linux)
2. Mac OS (Tiger)
3. Windows XP

Nice rubberized grip and right size for a portable mouse.

5 out of 5 stars I like it..........2007-05-10

I really enjoy this mouse, I plugged the antenna into the usb port and it worked. It fits well in hand and works very precisely. Definitely recommend the product.

5 out of 5 stars Worked perfectly.......2007-05-08

I've never been a fan of the touchpad mouse, so I was looking for a wireless mouse for my HP laptop. This Kensington mouse worked perfectly right out of the box. You just plug in the USB connector and away you go. The connector stores neatly on the underside of the mouse, so it doesn't get lost.

2 out of 5 stars Not powerful enough.......2007-08-23

This mouse does not transmit as far as it should. Try something else if you need more than 3 feet.

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst.......2007-04-25

This mouse is one of the worst I've owned. Every now and then it just stops. I can hit the sync buttons all day, unplug the mouse, remove the batteries, etc and....... nada. It just stops working and then starts back up minutes or hours later.
I've only been using it for a month and it's done it more times than I can count.
I will not buy another Kensington mouse. This one is going in the trash and I'm heading out to the store.

      1 out of 5 stars What a pain.......2006-05-08

Cursor doesn't always move when I move the mouse. Cursor sometimes zips across the screen with little or no movement of the mouse. Sometimes the left click stops working. This happens even when my batteries are fully charged (and they're charged individually, not in pairs, so they're both fully charged). My guess is radio interference, but don't really know. Whatever it is, I'm heading out today to buy another mouse. I've had it with this one. :(

1 out of 5 stars 1-5 second delay in response.......2005-11-30

This is the worst mouse ever. While it feels great in your hand, and I wish more mice had rubber on their body, the functionality is horrid. When you move the mouse, it takes 1 to several seconds before the mouse/receive "wakes up". This happens EVERY time you stop moving the mouse not after a while of sitting.

I called their tech support, all they would do is tell me to use newer and different batteries. So I yelled at them and they sent me another set... and it did the exact same thing.

I want a mouse that moves when I move my hand!

What's worse? When the mouse actually does sit around for more than 30 seconds (maybe a minute? didn't time it but not long at all), then it really goes to sleep and you can't make it move at all unless you click one of the buttons... what sucks? It SENDS the "wakeup" button click through!!!

So if you left your mouse on "Buy Now" on a thousand shares of X to think about it and research it and decided not to buy it, you are screwed. You can't move the mouse off the button and clicking the button to wake mouse up will pass the click through and press on the button for you.

1 out of 5 stars Buy something else!.......2007-09-17

I liked this mouse because it is bigger and with continued use bigger mice are more comfortable for my hands. However it loses tracking, goes through regular batteries in about 2 days and expensive rechargeables about every 5 days. I had to start using rechargeables because it was too expensive to put regular batteries in. It's a real pain. Other wireless mice I've dealt with have lasted at LEAST 30 days on a set of batteries. I do NOT recommend this mouse.

5 out of 5 stars It is an inexpensive, solid and responsive mouse.......2007-07-15

I ordered several of this product for building inspectors to go with their laptop computer. Instead of the touchpad or the usually smaller laptop mouse, they all liked this one much better. Their need is not portability because they use this in the truck. They particularly like to feeling of the rubberized finish. It is not slippery even if you have sweaty palms.

      The price is also right.

      4 out of 5 stars Cool.......2007-07-13

I've had this mouse for about 3 months now and the batteries are still going strong. For this being my first wireless mouse I'm very impressed. I haven't installed software because of previous reviews. The only negative things are that the forward and backward buttons seem backwards, and the back button is too far forward. I have huge man hands, and I like something I can finally grab.

1 out of 5 stars Looks nice but doesn't work well.......2007-05-23

I am disappointed with the function of this mouse. The cursor doesn't move half the time and when it does it's jittery. I can't seem to get the cursor where I want it to go and often close a window I meant to minimize because I missed the target. I thought it was just me getting used to a new mouse, but I've had it a month now and will replace it soon. I do see better performance when I take it off of my black mouse pad and use it right on the desk, which has a lighter color. I would not recommend this product.

      3 out of 5 stars 2 big.......2007-05-13

Bought this mouse for my wife notebook, the main problem is that this mouse is quite big and wasn't a very good fit for her, other then that it's a good equipment.

1 out of 5 stars It would get no stars if I had that option.......2005-10-17

I bought this Mouse so that I'd have the two button and scroll wheel functionality that my Apple Studio Pro mouse didn't have. It was an extreme disappointment when I spent $50 on this thing and then found out that I had wasted every cent of that money.

First off, I do have to say that the buttons and scroll pad work flawlessly, but all of my problems otherwise outweigh that.

The first few days that I had this mouse, it worked great, no complaints. The first problem I started having was when my cursor would randomly jump across the screen, this was a real annoyance when I was going to click on something and ended up clicking on something that screwed everything up in whatever I was doing. The problems don't end there though! After that started happening, I noticed that every day, after I had used this thing for maybe six hours straight (that happens alot at college) the mouse would just die and I'd have to go back to using either my Apple mouse or my trackpad, both of which only had one button and were just really annoying to use after having a wealth of three buttons and a scroll pad. Another thing I noticed about the power on this thing was how it didn't have a power on/off switch, so I couldn't just turn it off when I went to class, nor did the thing like being on its charger, because the more it was on there, the shorter the battery lasted (I suppose it's from the constant recharging, like a cell phone) but if I left it off the charger, I'd have no power when I got back from class. See my problem?

Oh, and I'm sure other people have pointed out its charger, it's unweildy, try traveling between home and school with this thing and you'll wonder why you ever bought it in the first place (even if it's working perfectly otherwise)

I give it one Star, simply because Amazon gives me no options lower than that.

3 out of 5 stars Different, but so what.......2005-02-27

Liked the design and uniqueness of this mouse when I saw it online.
Once I got it, it wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped and not very good tracking features. It eventually died after about 6 months.
I generally like Kensington products, but I'd say is okay if you want something new and different, but for the price it isn't worth it.

2 out of 5 stars All the lights were on, but..........2005-02-22

I have the wired version of this mouse, and I am a fan of Kensington's mice--heck, besides Apple's, I have never used another brand. But I digress...

I was disappointed by this mouse for a couple of reasons:

        1. Instead of charging via USB--which could be done--the dock for the mouse has an AC adaptor which plugs into the USB plug. It just looks awkward.

        2. The mouse is not very responsive. Often, I would have to click twice for a menu or dock item to be selected. Scrolling long menus was a joke since the mouse would disengage before scrolling the entire menu.

I was disappointed, and I returned it immediately. I love the design of the Studio Mouse, so I am using the wired version again.

1 out of 5 stars big tracking delay.......2005-02-20

I was warned by someone that a friend had bought one of these and returned it because of the delay. I went ahead and bought it thinking I could adjust the tracking speed to something I liked...it didn't work. The pointer is behind all movements, and at the fastest settings, once it does get moving, it jumps and hops. I'm taking it back. Don't waste your time.

1 out of 5 stars Keep a backup corded mouse.......2004-07-21

I agree with the other reviewers that the scrollpad is tricky to use -- unlike a mouse wheel, you really can't predict how far it's going to scroll. And I also had problems with clicks not registering. If you push it too lightly, the mouse still makes a definite clicking noise, but doesn't send a click to the computer.

But the worst problems were with not fitting well in the cradle, not charging while it sat there, not staying charged, and then not even working at all when it claimed to be fully charged. I found myself having to plug in the old broken mouse that I had meant to replace with this mouse, because the new mouse sometimes just would not work.

After two months with this mouse I went out and bought a corded Microsoft optical mouse that cost half as much, and I'm much, much happier with it. The Studio Mouse Wireless was almost a daily hassle to use.

4 out of 5 stars Both mouse and keyboard works fine........2006-02-19

However, keyboard isn't the niceset in terms of how key stroke feels. However, if your computer doesn't have ps2, be aware that this desktop needs ps2 port. Many modern computers come with only USB ports. Which means you should buy ps2 to USB adapter.

        4 out of 5 stars Mixed Feelings.......2005-12-27

I ordered this item about a month ago, and was fairly impressed with the quality i got for $35. However, within the last week, the scroll wheel on the mouse has locked up completely and is of no use to me. The mouse has no lag and the keyboard works great too, but you don't realize how dependent you are on the scroll wheel until it no longer works. Maybe mine was just defective because I haven't read any other reviews mentioning this problem. For the money, probably a good value.

3 out of 5 stars Good keyboard; horrible numeric pad.......2005-12-04

I let my husband pick out a wirelesss keyboard for me and he's always pushing the virtues of ergonomic keyboards, so he selected this one. Everything about this keyboard is very good with one absolutely glaring exception: Kensington did away with the double-length "0" key in the numeric keypad and shifted the right arrow over to occupy that space.

I'm an accountant and have been using 10-key machines for 35 years. This is HORRIBLE for anyone that uses the numeric keypad for lots of data entry.

This is an unforgiveable sin: Kensington did not do this with their cable version of the same board; they did not do this with any of their other wireless boards; but they have ruined the wireless comfort touch model by making this egregious key shift.

If you don't use the numeric keypad much, you'll probably grade this board a 5, but under the circumstances, I cannot do that.

5 out of 5 stars Great product- cheap and works amazingly well!.......2005-09-30

After reading the reviews on this wireless keyboard and mouse set I figured that for $35 or so it was well worth trying it out. Glad I did- both keyboard and mouse work great, no lag or other annoying glitches. Mouse does run low on batteries quickly (well, after a few days)- but that doesn't make much differance because of the USB recharge cable. Have used this set for games and haven't noticed any problems either. I think this is a great buy if you aren't into a ton of bells and whistles on the keyboard (I don't even use the ones that this comes with so it didn't make a difference to me)- great deal if you get this on sale for under $35 like I did too!

5 out of 5 stars Amazon does not mention anywhere that its a PS/2 thing!!.......2005-04-20

I have not used this product. I am giving 5 stars based on the 2 reviews which are already there.

What I want to mention is that I had bought this product from Amazon.com and later during the day, discovered from Kensington website, that this a "PS/2" wireless desktop . This is NOT a "USB/PS-2 combo" or "only USB" wireless desktop.

I do not have PS/2 ports on my Compaq Presario laptop, only usb ports. I realized that I ordered something which is of no use to me.

Amazon.com does not mention explicitly, anywhere on the product page (or the buying info page, or in the technical specs, or the picture), that this is a PS/2 wireless kit. Had they mentioned it, it would have saved me the hassle of returning it back to the 3rd party seller at Amazon Marketplace.

I would suggest that you insist on reading the detailed product specs from the Manufacturer's website (if available) or atleast cross verify the specs from some other site.

I learned it the hard way.
You can learn from my mistake.

2 out of 5 stars Works great, when it works..........2007-08-29

I just purchased this mouse today. I inserted the wireless USB receiver, and it was recognized instantly on my HP Pavilion wide screen laptop. I also installed the software that came with it, but made no adjustments to the default settings. The software also logged on to the Kensington website and downloaded the latest upgrade.

Ten minutes later the mouse locked up. Just froze on the screen. Nada. To get it working again I had to remove the wireless USB receiver, wait for the beep, then plug it back in. Works great again. I would say it locks up about once every 5-10 minutes of use.

        Steps taken -

        Uninstall and re-istall; no help
        Restart my laptop; no help
        Tried different ports; no help
Tried deviating from defualt settings; no help
Removed icon from tray; no help

I now have a ticket in to Kensington support. I could have taken it back for a refund or an exchange, which I would normally do. But this time I decided to try the company support approach, which gives this mouse a 5-year warranty, by the way. Let's see how they do.

By the time it took me to write this review, the mouse has locked up twice.

Other than that, I like the feel of the rubber grips, and how it fits in my hand. Entry into the battery and USB receiver storage is easy, not like other mice I've had, where you have to struggle to open it. You can save battery power by inserting the USB device to shut it off, or simply just opening the hinged battery cover.

I want to give it high ratings, but can't until this "Lockup" issue is resolved.

        1 out of 5 stars Broke.......2007-04-13

We bought one at CompUSA, and unfortunately they are going on of business and have a 'no return' policy. (I would have bought from Amazon, but we needed one immediately for a presentation.) It is broke. Putting in the batteries occasionally causes the mouse to blink (not every time, just sometimes) but it never actually turns on. I will have to take it apart and see if I can fix it. As of right now, it's a paperweight and we can't return it.
