Got this for my dad for Fathers Day. His other watch broke, he doesnt like the "fancy" ones they got today(as he puts it). He wanted a simple watch. Well this one has the time(hope so), day and date, and his loves the light, he goes to the movies at least once a week, so the light helps tremulously. Plus day + date is on same face no pushing buttons, someones always asking that. If you like a watch that is simple, just time and day is all you need to know, not all that other "fancy" stuff this watch is for you.

Affordable and Dependable.......2007-05-13

If you are looking for a cheap, durable watch, look no further. As a student, it suits my needs perfectly. It has a large, clear display, which includes the date, alarm indicator, hour-beep indicator, and PM indicator. The electro luminescent backlight works wonderfully, and I've noticed that the face doesn't get scratched if it makes contact with a wall. It's water resistant, so you don't have to worry about it when washing your hands. I've used the alarm on several occassions, and I have no complaints. It beeps loudly for around 30 seconds, so unless you are a particularly heavy sleeper you should have no problems with it. Also, I've seen complaints about the size of the band...I wear it on the fourth notch from the end and I am an average-build 6 foot tall male. If you are heavy-set or muscular then this watch might not be for you. I've never had any use for the timer function, but I've read that a lot of people find it useful. The controls are very user-friendly...no complaints here. If you are looking for a flashy watch, or one you can take into the pool, then you'll want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, you can't beat the value. It has a seven-year battery and costs about as much as a CD.

It is thinner than a lot of more modern watches (I measure it as 9.5mm). Compared to the older Casio I replaced, it has one fewer button which makes it a bit non-intuitive (the light button is used for setting things). It also is missing the year, so I assume I must manually adjust for leap-years (not to mention the DST).

Like Casio......but not THIS Casio.......2007-02-01

I shopped hard to find a watch just like my OLD Casio of 3-4 years ago, but, apparently, what looked and worked perfect was not good enough to leave well enough alone, and the Design Dept. has to eat, so it is no more and I have to pick a NEW Model that is close enough, and this was it. (Wonder if Rolex should start TOTALLY changing their watches...ALL of them, every year or two?)
Long story short, this "50 Meter" watch started fogging up within 2 weeks...with just my taking showers with it on. I don't have time to go through the enevitable runaround like my fellow poster, so I now just use it as a food timer....but the seconds digits are not working...
Bought a "Columbia"....nice, but switches back to time mode from stopwatch if no buttons are pushed within 20 seconds or so...."BUZZZZ": bad idea. I'm a Public Speaker and need it to STAY in stopwatch when I select "Stopwatch", thank you! Attention Geniuses: Please don't make assumptions for the Public!! (I guarantee you that no-one asked for that feature!)

Will replace all of these with hourglasses and Sundials soon!

Weak Case.......2006-08-06

The watch runs fine, with all the features I want. Only one problem. Approximately 10 days after receiving and wearing the watch, a portion of the watch case broke. A rather crucial portion -- the small area where the pin that holds the band is attached. In trying to follow Amazon's rules for returning (or repairing) the watch, I recieved time-consuming run-arounds, including countless attempts to reach a live person ("All operators are busy assisting other customers, so please call back.") ... first from Ace (the Distributor), who referred me to Casio, who referred me to their repair center, who referred me to their local repair center. I'm still waiting, approx. 2 weeks later, for a call back from the local guy.

Excellent Digital Watch.......2003-12-05

Over the years, I have bought nothing but this particular watch. I got my first 6 years ago, and had it for 4 years until it met its end in the washing machine. I drove over the second (whoops!) and am now on the third. The reason I keep coming back to this particular watch is that it is rediculously easy to set and use. In the traditional time mode, there is an option for 10 seconds of backlighting, and a toggle between 12 and 24 hour mode. Press "mode" and you continue on to the alarm settings. You can toggle the alarm on and off, as well as set a chime for the hour. The exact same process is followed to set the alarm as to set the time. Press 'light', then use the 12/24 button to increment the fields, and 'light' to continue through all the fields. If you changed anyhting, pressing mode returns you to the time, otherwise, pressing mode again takes you on to the timer. 12/24 starts the timer, light spltis the time, and 12/24 again stops the timer. Pressing light while stopped clears the entry. Pressing mode returns you to the time if you used the timer, otherwise, it continues on to the set-time screen. This behaves the same as the set alarm screen, except you also set the date here.

After 6 years of using this model watch, I have found exactly two problems.
1) The date didn't increment to Feb 29, 2000. It went to March 1, 2000. But I was able to manually set it, and it's been fine ever since. We'll see what happens Feb 29, 2004.
2) My first one had a type of cloth for the wristband. It wore out relatively quickly, leaving me with the watch but no band. The plastic/rubbery band is much more durrable.

But the positives are much more numerous:
1) Extremely easy to set.
2) Batteries have never wore out on me, and I use the backlight frequently.
3) Nice backlight.
4) Logical "menus"
5) Intuitive navigation - I am a computer programmer, but I've had other digital watches that I could not navigate through with the manual. This one is usable without a manual.
6) Year 2000 compatible! :)

Super Watch.......2007-09-22

I love this watch because it is very tough, can take some serious abuse, and is very low maintenance. You don't have to set the time (does that by itself), the date is always accurate, no changing batteries, completely waterproof, and good luck trying to scratch the lens (the raised area around it makes it pretty difficult). I've had this watch since it came out (a few years ago) and it still works just as if I bought it yesterday. If you're looking for a no hassle, cool looking (most digital watches look cheap), rugged, built to last time piece... this is it!

Best Watch Ever.......2007-03-08

I love it. I have a number of watches most far more expensive than the G-Shock. The G-Shock is the ultimate watch - no winding, no battery, self setting, always accurate. Will be buying more for family and friends at Christmas or birthdays.

I surveyed vast field of digital choices before getting the watch a month ago, and I'm well satisfied. Most digital watches (as opposed to analog with hour and minute hands) are ugly, IMO, so my surveying has mainly been frustrating. I found a nice line of digital Casio Edifices, with big digits and glimmering colorful faces, which served for a while, but has apparently been discontinued a year or two ago, and my last one quit working two months ago.

I bought this watch, grimacing at the price, just because it wasn't particularly ugly and had big digits, but it exceeded my meager expectations. The manual was a bit of a slog - it took about 20 minutes to read, but well worth it.

The features are outstanding - about 5 alarms, one of which can be set for snooze alarms, the expected stop watch, easy access to Greenwich Meridian Time, markers for noting times, a backlight, waterproof enough for scuba diving (not that I dive).

The special features include checking with a radio signal daily so the time is always correct (important for catching my buses and winning arguments about what time it really is), solar power (so run-down batteries should never be a problem), and backlighting that turns on when one turns one's wrist (surprisingly convenient). A nice touch is when one cycles back to the time, the watch gives a different unobtrusive beep.

There are other features available on other watches - tape recorders, flash drives, altimeters, compasses, but none that sound remotely useful in the long run.

I had to shorten the well-built wriststrap by 5 or 6 links, a little tricky, but any watch shop could do it in 5 minutes.

If you want a big, full-featured, easy-to-read and operate digital watch, this is the one, and I've surveyed most of them.

Post originally written mid-January, this added 2-25-07: I've found there might be problems with battery life, or maybe it is just the Seattle winter. I've had to leave my watch sometimes under a light when the power get low, and changing the battery can only be done by Casio, according to one watch shop. Also, the price on the watch is coming down quickly to more reasonable levels. I still like it a lot, despite having to juice it up from time to time.

I got this watch with metal band as a present to replace my earlier Casio Data Bank 150 that I have for about 7 years and it still works great. The older watch was perfect except the fact that it was made of plastic painted with a silver paint that eventually started peeling off so they look quite bad.

The new watch looks sleeker, but when I started using it I did not like so many things about it the first day that I am thinking of returning it to the store.

1)One of the most useful features - the calendar is no longer there. I use it all the time to enter my friend's birthdays and it keeps reminding me about them every year, appointments and much more. This feature is not there anymore.

2)Telememo forces you to enter the phone numbers on two lines with 6 positions each. I happen to leave in US and the numbers here have 999-999-9999 format and there is no way to enter them in a readable format into this watch. My old watch had two lines with 4 and 8 characters respectively that let me enter the phone in the readable form.

3) In the normal timekeeper mode you can not see all the information I can see with my old watch. Let say you can not display date with a year, day of the week and time altogether. You have to sacrifice the year or day of the week.

4) The day of the week is only 2 characters long while the old one had three and was easier to recognize.

5) The telememo mode requires more steps to get to the information.

6) The time is displayed in large numbers that I do not like. - They are too big. When this is all you see on the display it makes people wonder if you have vision problem wearing the bulky watch with that little info displayed.

And I am talking about the brand new watch without even experiencing it for half a year or so when the battery starts dying, the numbers wear of (by the way my old 7 year old watch still has every button clearly readable)

So my advise - do not bother with this watch stay with the old one if you can. Casio has done very poor job with this model.

Casio e-data Bank Watch, DATE MEMORY 350.......2007-05-14

I took my Casio e-data Bank Watch, DATE MEMORY 350, to a respected jeweler to change the battery after only 6 months use (I bought the watch NEW!). The jeweler was unable to replace the battery and reassemble the watch successfully. Buyers beware! Your watch will work as advertised until the original battery dies. Replacing the battery is a gamble you may best avoid.

Handsome Casio...But!.......2007-01-11

I am a Casio man since 15 years or so. Obliged to travel all over I have been seduced by the 24H chronograph (only 12h in most brand). When you travel from NYC to Hong Kong or Zurich it is nice to know when you are landing. Nice to know the World Time Zone. Nice to enter some Password or local fast Memos in the Data Bank... Forget all this with this beautiful watch. The super complex menu prevent you to perform all the tasks described in the brochure. You are supposed to have 3 time zone predefined, I could not do it witout losing the DST or the 24h format or the home city. The display does not any more (compared with previous Data Bank Casio) give you the day,year, hour at a glance. You have only: the Hour, or the Date. The bleu light display is an other useless choice, the Black is the only way to read on the move! The calculator is to small to use it as a daily money converter! I am so sorry Casio should make a much easier to configure Data Bank Digital Display for the serious traveler. It is not this pretty watch! Keep the old ones!

3 months and out!.......2006-07-09

I researched a replacement for an older casio data bank model. This was it. Within 3 months it quit. I am done with Casio. The model I wore for 12 yrs is no longer made. The newer models all have the adjustment button on the left, which is fine if you are left handed. I went with this particular model because the button was easily accessible. Most have the button indented and difficult to access, especially on the left side. The other reason I chose this model was the 5 data alarms. Problem is, when the alarms sounds, the input data does not automatically show; you have to push more buttons to have it revealed. Way too much work.

Keyboard Writing Wears Off.......2005-10-31

I have had 4 Databanks from Casio; this is the fifth.

Pluses:
1)Nicer mode menu. Pressing a button on the keypad gets you to where you're going right away. Very, very nice.
2)Bigger main number display. Real easy to read.
3)nice loud alarm
4)Very accurate clock crystal
5)addition of @ symbol to text input, turning this into an "E-databank" able to type in email addresses.
6)metal case, is very durable. Its been dropped hard many times. Keeps on tickin'.
7) battery life is great.

Minuses:
1)Keyboard writing will wear off in 6 months. You'd better memorize the key placement by then.
2)If you're buying a resin band model, the band will break in about a year. It is not replaceable, because of the form fitting, custom design. I'm using the watch at the moment attached to my belt buckle with a small carabiner clip attached to the surviving half of the band.
3)The telememo feature has bizarre spacing of the numbers, making some numbers initially unrecognizeable.
4)calculator functions accessed through one button, have to cycle through +, -, x, /. Did I mention that the keyboard writing will wear off in 6 months, and that you'd better remember the placement of the characters?
5)Schedule Memo is gone. Replaced with 1 daily and 4 yearly alarms
6)button press combinations to access some functions are needlessly complicated, even after reading the manual...
