Bitter Disappointment.......2006-11-28

I purchased this unit almost two years ago and have yet to make it work. My brother, who is very tech savvy, helped me set up the unit. I had very little success working with tech support. My first call was answered and I was provided some assistance Since that call, I have been unsuccessful talking to anyone. They have an answering machine, but they don't return calls. I would stronly urge anyone considering the purchase of this product to reconsider. It was an expensive and frustrating mistake.

Bitter-sweet DVD Recorder.......2006-08-01

I am a little disappointed in this dvd recorder. If you buy this product solely for recording tv shows, from camcorder, etc.., then you'll have no problems. This device is excellent for that. The remote control and menu screens are very easy, and it records in great quality.

However, I have had this particular recorder for over a year and a half. It has already stopped playing my store-bought dvds. It'll play my recorded dvds alright. Also, it's picky about the speed of your disc. So, watch out for that. I think it'll only play/record up to a 4x.

So, I give it 5 stars if you purely want to record. I give it 1 star if you want to watch your dvds (for the exception of recorded dvds). It just gives a blank picture, and the dvd player starts making a grinding noise. I have not bothered contacting Classic for any help. I think the warranty is expired, and I heard rumors that they give the ol' 'runaround' about replacing or repairing this particular player.

This is the biggest piece of crap...period! After about two months had no sound from coaxial connection, had to use s-video and rca. Sound was still bad, but could hear it at high volumes. Soon after would no longer record from a timer program. Now I can't even get the f@#king disc out. Company is of no help and will not repair. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this garbage!!!

Terrible Service.......2005-03-15

I bought this dvd recorder around a year-and-a-half ago. 8 months ago the device began to malfunction and so i sent it in to classic for a warranty repair. as it turns out the device is on back-order and they will no longer be making repairs or replacements. therefore i have been in lidigation with classic for the past 8 months and they have been less than helpfull. i citanly donot recomend buying this, or any other classic product.

I would've given the Classic DVR1000 3 stars - but, after reading product reviews on even the most popular brand (and much more expensive) dvd recorders - I am very grateful that I purchased this system at this time. For the moment, it seems to be up to snuff with any brand out there. Take it or leave it. It has it's pros and cons - but, apparently they all do. So, until the day that one of these manufacturers REALLY, REALLY painstakingly troubleshoots all of the existing pangs out of present day recorders - this CLASSIC DVR1000 will suffice for anyone interested to purchase an inexpensive and fully functional DVD Recorder. I have had limited bad experiences so far. I've had to throw away a disk or three - but, from what I understand - so does everyone else! What gives??? I don't know. I do know that the DVD's I have created with this recorder were crisp even utilizing the 3 hour recording mode. Imagine! 4 Disney movies on 1 DVD! I did it from my VHS tapes. Can't tell the difference. If you want to spend more to get the same results - go right ahead. I wouldn't waste my money until they perfect the whole world of DVD recorders.

I was given a pair of these Acer AL2416W monitors to use on a dual headed workstation at work. I have been using them for several hours per day for about a week now and I am very impressed. I am using the highest resolution (1900x1200). Colors are vivid, text is razor sharp, and movies display nicely with the widescreen format. And, they are very reasonably priced. Thumbs up!

I own the DVD Copy Cruiser Quad. I just had a chance to try the 1-7 DVD Copy Tower Quad. This gem makes 7 copies of DVDs and CDs simultaneously at the same speed as my 1-1 duplicator. Antec is one of the few and only makers of True, Real Power Supplies.

This monster 480 watt PS is stylish right out of the box. Two bright, oversized blue LED's light each fan giving the impression of four LED's, (one 80mm the other 90mm), fan cool the unit very effectively and give a welcoming glow. Cables are pre-sleeved with black mesh nylon and have plenty of length to reach.

Unit runs Very Quiet day to day and never has a problem with loads. Fans look good and match perfectly with my PC case; black case and blue lights all around. I have used Antec for many years now, (5yrs+ total) and have not once had a problem. If you compared Antec to other "so-called" Power Supplies that weighed only half a pound, even the 350 watt Power Supply from Antec will give you a Hefty 350 watts of true power to run your PC flawlessly!

This Power Supply even includes two built-in SATA connectors for easy use of SATA drives, but still gives you plenty of standard Molex connectors and two floppy connectors. As well the back end of the PS includes a standard female Molex connection for everyday uses; example, you can hook up hard drives externally, plug in fans, etc.... Not to forget the PS also has a toggle switch built in for ease of use when doing maintenance on your PC without having to unplug the power cord.

On top of all this, Antec also has a dedicated power connector just for case fans; this allows the PS to control the speed of the case fans based on its temperature, thus lowering noise even further.

Antec has done it again with the help of Amazon! The only other Power Supply I could recommend from experience is the Vantec Stealth (VAN-520A). But for the price $86, this is a steal!

Don't hesitate to buy this if looking for a Real Power Supply at a low price.

The ANTEC TrueBlue 480W power supply is a great choice for anyone. Besides the dual blue LED fans, this power supply has 2 SATA power connectors and 2 FAN only power connectors.

Additionally, there are a host of molex connectors for your non SATA drives and optical drives, as well as your floppy drives.

Interesting there is a female molex connector on the back of the power supply. I have't used it, but I imagine it may have some sort of use.

The blue light lights up the case well. The only complaint, I have is that there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. Also it would be nice if it was offered in colors other than blue.

Very Quiet and Very Good.......2003-05-09

I bought this power supply looking for a very quiet very reliable power supply, and I was not disappointed. I have had it for 6 months, and it has performed perfectly and very quietly the entire time. My old power supply only had one fan, but was many times louder. The temperature controlled fan-only plugs are a nice touch also. It would be nice if you could adjust what level they run at though. They spin my fans a little bit slower than I would like at times. It also would be nice to have a switch to turn off the LEDs, when you don't want them on. My only other complaint is that the cables are too long. I have a normal sized midtower, and I had to put some effort into bunching the cables up and tucking them away so they didn't over run the case. If you have a small case, this might not be the power supply for you. Over all I am very happy with this case though.

Excellent Performence for the buck .........2004-03-12

I bought the varient of this model 50H12(some people are telling 50H12 is better than 50H82) which in my view are same at Costco for $1600 including taxes. It really rocks for the price. Picture Quality is great & Audio is excellent. I feel now why Consumer Reports rated hight for Toshiba in Projection TVs.

Broken after only 2 years.......2003-11-14

The clarity of the picture is good, and I was happy with the controls. I cannot recommend the purchase of this TV. After just 2 years of normal use, it went up. No picture at all. It has been out for 6 weeks because Best Buy can't seem to find qualified people to work on this TV. Also, I overheard them talking about the poor construction of the boards. They making it very difficult to repair by glueing the parts to the board so you have to purchase an entire new board.

Best Buy also has very poor service and I will never purchase their PSP warranty package again. They are not customer oriented and are only the middle guy for the service people, which has you running in circles.

I have owned my Toshiba 50H82 for approximately 6 months and have nothing but praise for the set. I have not had the luck of experiencing any HD pictures yet, but my progressive scan DVD (hooked up through component video) is remarkable! Digital cable looks great too (Analog is decent). I love the fact that this tv has wheels underneath as well as the fact that the top of the TV has about a 6-inch depth to act as a "shelf" so I can set my center-speaker for my surround on top.

Very highly recommend this set!

Absolutely Awesome HD Picture Quality.......2003-04-12

Our Initial reaction to the 50H82 was one of content. Ya it was an upgrade from our 48" Sony but we weren't necessarily amazed..

The problem was/is, 4:3 content doesn't fill a 16:9 screen, and there's a lot of 4:3 content out there! Hence, if you're watching a standard Broadcast, Cable, or Sat signal you'll need to decide how best to fill the screen. In the case of the 50H82 you can stretch it into fitting, scale/crop it to fit (loosing a bit of the top/bottom), you can keep the 3:4 aspect ratio which translates into leaving the unused sides of the screen blank, or you can use one of Toshibas hybrid schemes that only stretches the outer portions of the image leaving the center area untouched.. This is probably your best bet, albeit not a perfect one..

One area that appears to be pretty close to perfect was discovered with the addition of an HD SatDish/OTA tuner. Within a second of selecting PBS's HD Channel it became abundantly clear exactly where Toshiba had put it's R&D money.. 1080i HIDef content, coming off stations like PBS and HD-Net, looks simply STUNNING.. Words can not do justice to Nature scenes appearing as real as looking out a window and sporting events that place you in the stands. Suffice to say,, having seen what this set was capable of, we have become virtual slaves to HD. Fortunately most of our local stations (Boston Area) have already begun OTA digi broadcasts. A lot of 480p signals during the day and 1080i for the networks (mainly CBS) primetime programs.

The 50H82 has plenty of analog inputs, 3 composite/SVideo, 2 antennas, and 2 component HiDef inputs. Sadly, Toshiba failed to provide a Digital interface. ie. NO Firewire, USB, or DVI..

This is truly unfortunate and the only real negative I can think of.. Hopefully Toshiba will follow some of the other manufactures who had neglected to provide a digital interface and offer a retrofit device of some sort... ala Mitsubishi's "Promise Module" that adds a Firewire interface to a few of their upper end sets.

Other than the Firewire issue, we're completely happy with the 50H82.. , and for those looking for an HD or DVD Monitor, would highly recommend giving it a look,,

Nothing Better for Price.......2003-01-23

Excellent picture using a progressive scan dvd player. If you adjust the picture enough you can get a fairly acceptable picture with regular cable. But to see what this tv can do you need an HDTV source. Controls very user friendly. Size is just 21 3/4 deep so you can put it about anywhere in the house. And its on rollers, it doesn't seem like a big deal but wait til you get it home. I am happy with it.
