Forget about the short-range, static-plagued cordless phones of the past.Basically a low-powered FM radio transmitter/receiver, cordless phonestoday use higher frequencies with shorter wavelengths so radio wavesencounter less interference. In 1998, the FCC opened up the FM range above2.4 GHz to cordless phones. This frequency is far above the rangeaccessible to most scanners, and gives phones like the Uniden TRU246 arange of up to 150 feet indoors.

In addition to 2.4 GHz power, the TRU246 offers digital spread spectrum(DSS) technology for security and greater sound clarity. Based in part on aconcept invented by 1940s screen actress Hedy Lamarr, spread spectrumtransmission switches rapidly from frequency to frequency at random. A DSSsignal needs less power and encounters less interference.

A cordless phone like the Uniden TRU246 is even more useful with caller IDand call waiting/caller ID. When someone calls, caller ID allows you to view the caller's nameand number on the LCD display before you pick up the phone. The caller-IDmemory holds up to 50 names and numbers. With the Uniden TRU246, you can program up to 20 numbers into the memorydial, similar to a speed dial, for instant access. I was pretty happy with the phone until, shortly after a year, the buttons became increasingly harder to push. I've contacted Uniden and they said they would only fix it for free if it was a "known problem." Not surprisingly, they said this was not such a case. Now what I want to know is if anyone else here on Amazon has had this same problem? If so, let's make it "known" so that Uniden will either fix it for free or give us a replacement. Though at this point, I'd rather have my money back than rely on their products and Customer Service again.

TRU246--An Update.......2003-01-21

It's been two years since my first review of my cell phone...it's still going strong on the original battery! I use a Jensen headset and an over-the-ear kind for hands-free talking. When watching tv with a friend from another state by phone (don't ask), I do notice the phone beeps "low battery" after four hours. This is a little disconcerting, especially if you're watching figure skating or an award show! However, it's not bad service for a phone I've had as long as this one. I suppose the solution there is buy another cordless for your spare jack and pick it up when the beeping starts.

I'm sold on cordless phones, still don't understand why people want to treat them as if they were wireless. Corded phones aren't and never will be. I believe good phones DO cost over $.. unless you buy them used. I also don't believe there is any one phone that will satisfy everybody's needs. My phone has never not work, keypad perfect, reception perfect.

I will say that I don't like the style of the newer model Unidens, so I can't say what my second phone will be. If they still made the 246 or 248, I'd definitely buy it.

Buttons stop working after a while!.......2002-12-03

I loved the phone when I first received it. However, after around 4 months the buttons stopped working. I basically need to jam my finger about an inch into the phone in order to dial a number. It sounds like a common problem with this phone. I suggest staying away from it.

Quiet and reliable.......2004-01-25

This power supply is a good purchase. It is indeed quiet, not silent, but quiet compared to older power supplies.

It has some interesting features like SATA connectors for the upcoming generation of hard drives, and "dedicated Fan Only power connectors allow TruePower to control the speed of case fans, reducing total system noise." This feature is limited (in the documentation) to 3 fans though, so if you have more, you will have to connect them to regular connectors.

It does not have an extra outlet in the back, to plug your monitor in, like some other power supplies have, but it does have an external +5V and +12V connector to power external peripherals.

First impression is positive.......2005-12-15

I received the drive and immediately hooked it up. My first impression was very positive. The device is even smaller than I had perceived it to be when I ordered it. As soon as it was hooked up to a computer it was recognized and had a drive letter assigned in seconds. I was copying files to it instantly.
It does get a little hot after it's plugged in for a bit. The only other thing I worry about with this thing is durability. Although it indeed has a sturdy enclosure and construction, these mini hard drives are infamous for breaking. I treat mine like it's made of glass just to be sure.

Great gizmo for the price, cheaply built though.......2005-12-04

I love this thing for the price. 4G of storage lets me easily transport file, music and video between home and work, and between my family's and friend's computers. However, I couldn't get the USB connector open for the first 30 minutes after I opened the box. This is very cheap construction. I had to hold the opposite corner with my thumb in order to open up enough space on the plug end for it to want to pop out of the case. Anyway, after I figured that out, it worked fine. Gets a bit warm when plugged in for a while.

One of the best motherboards I've ever used, now have 2 of them and buying another 1 this weekend.. working great in all my companies game machines.
Running 512 MB pc3200 Micron memory and XP3000+ processor. The cpu temp is steady at 38C. It is not as good as the A7N8x Deluxe but is much cheaper and has most of the same perks.

This amazon replacement for Epson T009201 Color Cartridge was not usable in an Epson Photo1280 printer. Black came out brown and solid colors came out striped.

Don't waste your time or money. I also learned my lesson the hard way buying non-Epson Cartridges. They are not the same and they waste paper and ink during cartridge changes. Don't do it, you've been warned again.

Buyers beware: this is not the genuine Epson T009201 inkjet cartridge. Don't waste your time with this type of so-called "replacement" cartridges. They will just clog up your Epson printer's printhead with junk ink. I have learned my lesson, and now you have been warned.
