Crap, Crap, Crap!!!.......2005-10-21
There is no other way to put it. All Visioneers are garbage. Purchased my 2nd one (after first one died for no reason after a year) and have experienced many problems. Lately it won't let me scan anything because of an error saying to "unlock your scanner". There is no Freakin lock on the darn thing!!! After contacting the company many many times (btw - there customer service sucks! - No telephone number, unless u pay $2 per minute, just a computer-generated machine that unsuccessfully helps you called SARA). I finally put a claim in through the Better Busines Beaureau, there response was that they couldn't send me a new scanner cause it was after 1 year of my purchase, but they would be so kind enough as to let me purchase a new one and give me 25% off of their price (which was probably an elevated price). I told them to kiss off! Anyway - please don't buy this product or any Visioneer product - they Suck!
Good Scanner, no drivers, no support........2005-01-04
I bought this scanner because of the simplicity and ease of use. But after less than a year, the scanner became practically useless. Scans would take up too much disk space, copies were crappy and the software was confusing to configure and use. Also, Visioneer software loads itself into memory at boot up and slows down system performance. It would not operate properly on certain Windows operating systems and worst of all, Visioneer would not provide new driver for it. Also, though Visioneer makes a decent scanner, despite the flaws, they do not provide any support that is easy on inexpensive to access. You cannot email them, there is no 800 number and the long distance number that you must call has a significant wait time at your expense.
Easy to Use but It Broke Within 2 months!.......2003-06-27
This is one of the easiest scanners I have ever used. The quality is great and I was extremely pleased with my purchase. Then, after less than 2 months of use (and believe me, I didn't use it that often!) it broke! It prints squiggly lines on anything I attempt to scan. I can't believe it broke now that the warranty is no longer good!

I've had limited experience with using flatbed scanners, an honest to goodness AMATUER! Until I got my Visioneer 8800...
Out of the box, hooked up to the computer and using it by the end of the day! No problem! Now I can help to design the programs, program inserts, and special event brochures for my Church. I've made some "special" one-of-a-kind Certificates of: "Acheivement", "Attendance", and "Vacation Bible School Completion" for the kid's in Sunday School. One-of-a-kind Birthday cards are a ** "Snap!!!" **, no more searching through all those mountains of cards at the stores...What a welcome relief that is!!! And my friends and family are so surprised to receive such personal cards. And I love being able to scan all my old paper photographs, so I can put them on to discs. They'll last so much longer now... Like when I saw my Grandpa's old "tin type" photographs... It's helping to store so many of my family's memories...
So if you were wondering; "Would this be a good scanner for me?" And; "Is it worth the price?" The answers are both; "YES!!!" If I can use it for so many different things, and so easily...SO CAN YOU!!! And it's well worth the price!

Pathectic Tuning.......2002-12-25
This thing cannot tune at all. I live within 5 miles of the broadcast towers of Buffalo, New York, and I can tune in just ONE (1-not a typo) station. It seem to love this station so much that no matter what you set the tuner for, it chooses that station. The sound is just as bad; the station I get has sound, but is garbled behind reason. DO NOT BUY THIS. IT IS A WASTE OF 30 BUCKS

We used to have a white TV similar to this that was a promotional gift from our telephone company, but it broke so we started looking around for a replacement and for the price and what features you get this is a GREAT buy. and better made than some traditional small televisions. The colour is a matte finish so it stays clean and neat looking. And there aren't a lot of dust trap nooks and crannies. Sleek and light.
We keep it in the car for when we are out and running errands and one of us stays in the car. It is handy to have on hand when I drop someone off for a doctors appointment and wait in the car. It is also great to have on outings if there is a sports program on that others want to watch.
If there is a downsize it is that it requires 10 D size batteries so buy rechargeable ones and use the plug in jack or the cigarettes adapter whenever possible rather than just the batteries. When we have gone batteries only they last for one or two shows. Which means one average length football or baseball game being broadcast. So use the adapters! And the earphone set up is nice as well. And the antenna folds down easily and out of the way.

The Canon PowerShot A300 offers the entry level solution to digital camera users new to the field. Packed with a host of features and a 3.2 mega pixel CCD sensor, this little camera produces great pictures.
Like Olympus digital cameras, the camera is turned on via a sliding lens protector at the front that forces the camera into life. Two AA batteries and the CompactFlash compartment are housed behind a sturdy door that will easy take a beating over the lifespan of the camera without snapping or falling apart. The other side the camera offers a DC and USB port, but unfortunately no video-out to watch your pictures on the TV.
On the rear of the camera, the user is offered a 1.5" TFT screen that is sharp and responsive to changing lights and focuses, as well as, a host of buttons - most of which are self explanatory and you can easily access flash modes, picture review and other options like this without having to plough through plenty of menus.
The camera offers a 33mm f3.6 fixed focal length lens with a 5.1 digital zoom option that offers the equivalent of a 33mm - 168mm lens in a 35mm camera. This combined with shutter speed range of 1-1/2000 sec and ISO ratings of 50 - 400 and a range of pre-programmed settings to cope with landscapes and portrait shooting makes for a nice little camera for beginners. For the more adventurous there is a macro mode up to 5cm, as well as, the option to record up to 3 minutes of movie clips with sound.
For an auto focus fixed lens camera with a digital zoom the quality is quite good. Detail is captured well and greens are differential when it comes to photographing landscapes. The digital zoom is useful for getting into the action, but should not be replied upon for crisp images. Overall as a starter's camera this is an okay place to start. i got this camera a few years ago because i really like how their is a lens cover, it had a pretty good price for its features and it had a movie mode but i used norecharable bateries when i first got it you have to get 2500nah batteries for best results i recomend this camera for kids because its durable cheap easy to use and it dosn't have an optical zoom so the lens dosn't pop out which makes it easy to break but i lost it a year and a half ago but now im geting the powershot 570is hopefully its good too i hope this was helpful
Simple Camera, Good Quality .......2007-07-23
The Powershot A300 is a good beginner's digital camera and the price is fairly decent. The actual picture quality is great in my opinion for a 3.2 mp camera. The build quality is also solid. I've owned this for three years and it still works like new. I would not claim to be a photographer or even a photo enthusiast, but I am definitely a gadget type of person. There are some decent features such as red eye reduction, landscape setting, ability to record short videos and 5.1 digital zoom.
The most substantial downside to the camera is the lack of physical zoom (i.e. telescoping lens). Because of this really any picture taken while in digital zoom is going to be pixelated. Secondly, pictures are difficult to recall. In order to get back to the taken picture you must cover the lens and then turn the camera off and then on again. Another problem is there are not many features to speak. However, considering the age of this camera I can't really say it is a problem. For the average person this is a perfect camera. It is easy to use, has great picture quality and is fairly cheap.
