5 out of 5 stars really is longer shelf life.......2007-09-28

bought this because my wife was always complaining the batteries were dead (or only took a few pictures) in her camera after leaving the camera sitting for a month or more. With these batteries the camera can sit unused for a long time without the batteries going dead from sitting. Arrived charged and ready to use out of the package.

5 out of 5 stars Great Batteries.......2007-09-26

Really like these batteries. They last a long time and hold there charge well. I was able to use right out of the box with great results. Don't get hung up on the 2000 mAh rating as they out perform my other 2650 mAh rechargeables. They truly work as advertised. Very pleased.

5 out of 5 stars Ready to go!.......2007-09-24

They are precharged and last longer than any battery I ever tried. I love these!

5 out of 5 stars hubby loves the batteries........2007-09-24

I bought these batteries for my hubby. He really likes them. We use them all over the house. They seem to last longer than other rechareable batteries in high drain electronics. They're great for baby toys that go through batteries like crazy, too.

4 out of 5 stars eneloop 8-pack AA bateries.......2007-09-24

I am impressed with the batteries. They are holding charge longer than I thought. In fact I will be reordering soon.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Unreliable.......2007-09-27

We've been using these tapes on both a Canon HV20 and XHA1 and they are having a tendency to drop out several seconds right after we start recording and occasional drop frames later. At first we thought it was one of the cameras, or a head cleaning issue, but this is happening on two cameras, and two different models at that. We've missed some vitally important footage because of this. Though we don't have the problem on every tape, it happens frequently enough that we will not be using them again.

5 out of 5 stars Hard to compare.......2007-09-13

But so far these have worked great. Often get more than 60 minutes of record time on a Canon 20HD

5 out of 5 stars Great Combo for HD Cameras .......2007-09-04

I use Canon XHA1 HD camcorder. This tape works like a charm.

The price is affordable and good companion for HD camcorder.
If you settle for non HD tapes, you are taking risk.

5 out of 5 stars It's tape!.......2007-07-14

It's tape! It works! We got it on Amazon because it was cheaper than in the store.

5 out of 5 stars MiniDV HD cassettes.......2007-06-08

Pricier than their cousins, the Standard MiniDv Cassettes, the one's listed out here on Amazon are almost 50% cheaper than the same ones (exactly the same, brand, etc) that I've found at the local photography store. The box stores don't carry them with frequency...not enough HD cameras in the hands of the public yet...I'm sure availability will change soon though with more HiDef hardware being purchased.

You have to use them in the HD camera's or you'll void the warranty. You'll also gum up the heads of the more sensistive prouser cameras which means poor quality images and possibly ruining the heads themselves.

I just bought a new Canon XHA1 and it's worth the investment to use the HD cassettes.

In fact, I'm going to order more right now.

Product Description

The classical advantages of rechargeable batteries are: high performance, especially if high discharge currents are required ( like in digital cameras ) cheap in use, because they can be recharged many times; environmental friendly, because one rechargeable battery replaces 1000 disposable batteries; good performance at low temperatures. A special feature found in eneloop batteries from Sanyo is an extremely efficient (low) dormant discharge rate. That means, when not used, the charge is retained for long periods. Of course you (and we) recommend using these batteries over and over/ Just in case you don't, you can be assured the battery will retain up to 85% of its charge over the course of a year.Because the eneloop has a very low self-discharge, SANYO can ship the batteries in a charged state so they're ready to use out of the pack. In contrast to a disposable battery the eneloop can be charged 1000 times. This saves the environment and your purse. Thus one eneloop saves the waste of 999 disposable batteries. Even if you consider the slightly higher cost of the eneloop compared to a disposable battery and add the cost for the charger and the energy consumed by the charger, the investment for one eneloop returns easily after a few charging cycles. Imagine how much money you have spent for batteries in your life. Now there is an end to this spending!

Amazon.com Product Description

In years past, you had to recharge your rechargeable batteries before leaving on a trip or sliding them into your electronic device. Otherwise, you ran the risk of depending on nearly dead batteries once you reached your destination, as stored power tends to degrade over time. Now GE/Sanyo steps into the void with its eneloop line of batteries, which come pre-charged and ready to use right out of the pack. Even better, the batteries have an extremely low self-discharge rate, with the ability to maintain 85 percent of residual capacity after one year of storage and 70 percent residual capacity after two years of storage. As a result, leaving home without recharging the batteries won't ruin your Bryce Canyon vacation or cross-country plane trip.

Eneloop batteries offer a number of advantages over traditional alkaline batteries, including up to four times more power when used in a digital camera, high performance even at low temperatures (down to 23 degrees F) during your winter vacation, and a vast cost savings in the long run. The eneloop advantages are even more glaring when compared to typical NiMH batteries: not only are they ready for use right out of the box, but they generally last longer than most NiMH batteries (continuous and frequent recharging can destroy other NiMH models) and save both time and money (traditional NiMH charging is slow when you're in a hurry, while rapid chargers are expensive). All told, you can recharge eneloop batteries up to 1,000 times without experiencing a memory effect; just charge the amount you need and you're set.

This compact eneloop charging kit comes with four 2,000 mAh AA batteries, which are ideal for everything from digital cameras to TV remotes to portable audio players. The kit also offers a number of safety features, including an over-voltage protection system that shuts down when a dry-cell battery is accidentally inserted and a built-in protection system that boasts industry-leading safety and reliability features. And thanks to the unit's foldaway AC plug--which offers worldwide voltage--you can take the lightweight charger virtually anywhere.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars These are the batteries to get.......2007-09-15

The buzz around GE/Sanyo's Eneloops is well-deserved. They are affordable (I paid $25 for four batteries and a charger) and provide flawless performance. I use these nickel metal hydride (NiMH) AA rechargeables almost exclusively in my digital camera. When it comes to my camera, nothing is more important to me than battery life. I just don't have the time or the patience to constantly cycle batteries through my camera. I'd rather be taking pictures. My experience with the Eneloops has been positive. They last an extremely long time in the camera. I also can have a charged pair stored in my bag and not worry that the charge will be gone next week when I need them (this is a problem that nickel cadmium (NiCd) batteries haven't overcome yet). As for the charger, it is nice although the cover on mine is pretty loose and can slide up when I'm not expecting it (although the batteries are made in Japan, the charger is made in China). And I like that the plug folds into the charger (that way I don't have to worry about it getting damaged in my bag). If I could offer only one tip, as far as I can tell, this is not a 'smart' charger. So you risk overcharging if you don't unplug the charger when the green charge light goes off. Overcharging a NiMH battery shortens its life considerably. But at least you don't have to worry about the 'memory effect' with NiMHs (NiCds have to be fully discharged or the active areas on the electrodes will diminish).

4 out of 5 stars Quality Product!!!.......2007-09-10

This is a great quality SMART charger and it comes with even better Eneloop rechargeable batteries which are perfect for practically any device requiring AA/AAA batteries. The charger also charges other brands of batteries unlike what the manual says and the fold-away AC plug is very convenient for travel, space and cord-clutter specific people. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT A UNIVERSAL VOLTAGE CHARGER...IT'S 110-120V. I was very disappointed when I found this out because we use 220-240V where I'm from. Also, this is not a "SUPER-QUICK" charger which is fine to preserve battery life. Otherwise, it's a great SMART charger!!!

4 out of 5 stars Good Product.......2007-09-09

I was a bit skeptical, but found that the batteries lasted a long time in my digital camera, longer than standard AA batteries (or even enhanced 'digital' AA). So far the only drawback is that it takes a long time to charge (overnight).

5 out of 5 stars Great Product at a Good Price.......2007-09-01

These batteries are great for cameras. The 4-pack with 4-bay charger is the way to go. I used to have the 2-bay charger but lost it. Beach Audio had the 4-bay for less than I paid retail for the 2-bay! The batteries are charged when you get them (definitely a plus), and they last quite awhile. We're even going to put them in our baby's play-yard mobile because they last so long.

3 out of 5 stars Good but not great.......2007-08-29

I got these batteries with the hopes that my camera would take the supposed "400 pics vs alkaline 100 pics" and was diappointed. Granted it was on the 1st charge (and just to be sure I charged them before use) but still after only about 50 shots I was down to half charge. That's about the same as with the alkalines I had in there before. I cant attest to whether or not they hold their 85% charge for a year or not, nor will I ever (I mean who let's the camera sit there for a year without use?? Mine as well just buy a disposable for that "special occasion") but as far as the 400 shot capacity, I think it's kind of a joke. But atleast they're rechargeable lol.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars No problems.......2007-09-23

I have had these for a bit and used many of them. I have not had one turn up bad or burn incorrectly as of yet.

2 out of 5 stars no luck with these.......2007-09-08

I would recommend that you stay away from this product and try something else. I was taken by the the great price and brand name. But after getting about 25-30 good burns, I ended up throwing the rest away because my DVD burner would not recognize them (intel mac mini superdrive). Thinking it was a faulty drive and not the media. I recorded the last two episodes of the Sopranos on my Panasonic DVD recorder using one of these things. Sure enough, after canceling HBO, the media could not be read by the recorder. I think I will try smaller quantities until I find a solid brand that works for me.

1 out of 5 stars Short memory..........2007-09-04

I had a lot of discs worked initially but won't play again after a few weeks. I'd rather have a bad disc that won't record instead of wasting time and had to go back re-record the movies again. Working on a new spindle and so far so good. I will stay away from TDK discs if I get another bad one.

4 out of 5 stars Poor Packaging.......2007-09-04

The product is very good, however the packaging was very poor. When i received the product, the outside case was broken. I have also seen this complaint from many people who have bought this item from AMAZON. I would request AMAZON team to play more attention towards the packaging the product because there is no point in buying stuff from the site if we receive the product in half broken state.

1 out of 5 stars discs burn BUT don't maitain memory, lost much time due to these........2007-09-03

I thought buying TDK would be good, I only had a few bad discs that would not burn. The ones that did burn (100% of them) would play good a few times, then would not play anymore, my dvd players would not recognize them. I do have quality dvd players (Yamaha, Sony and Eclipse) and they play all my other DVDs just fine.

4 out of 5 stars Good Reliable Product.......2007-09-10

This item is a very good buy considering that the dual layer DVD's are still so expensive. I bought two and it was much cheaper than one 50-pack spindle. Only one of fifty did not work but that was because the program I was using to backup my data crashed during the burn process.
I would definitely purchase this product again.

I use plextor 16X dual layer burner. burned 40. All 40 of them came out good. If you use a junk DVD burner lot of medias will fail. You will have to do an exhaustive research to find a media that is compatible with your drive.

5 out of 5 stars Performs to Liking.......2007-09-05

I use them mainly for copying images above 4.7GB. I use an external LG to burn the image. It takes about 25 minutes to burn a 6-7GB file, but it performs flawlessly everytime. Dual Layer are know to be expensive, and 25 for 30 dollars is a bargain.

Excellent quality. Reccomened: 9/10

Introducing Numbers, the familiar yet revolutionary new spreadsheet application.

Numbers. Spreadsheets the Mac way.

New in Numbers '08.
Introducing Numbers '08, the spreadsheet you've been waiting for--and already know how to use. Innovative, powerful, and intuitive, Numbers '08 lets you do everything from setting up your family budget to completing a lab report to creating detailed financial documents.

Intelligent tables.
Turning the tables on other spreadsheet programs, Numbers '08 offers a fundamentally better way to organize data and manage lists. And it goes a step further by establishing an entirely new paradigm with its innovative and intelligent tables.

Easy table setup.
Because each Numbers table has its own grid of rows and columns, you can format each table independently to solve specific needs. Adding, moving, and adjusting row and column size has no effect on other tables. And making those adjustments is easy. Grow your table by grabbing a table corner and pulling it to the right for more columns or down for more rows.

On each table's address tabs, you'll find pull-down menus containing frequently used tools for adding, deleting, hiding, or sorting rows and columns in the row and column reference tabs. A handy Format Bar offers one-click data formatting.

Highly flexible.
Traditional spreadsheets lock you into a rigid matrix of rows and columns. Numbers lets you create multiple resizable tables on a flexible canvas. Each table is a fully functional spreadsheet that can consist of hundreds of cells or just a few. Add a header or a footer row for summary calculations with a single click.

Navigate quickly and easily.
Because Numbers lists every sheet, table, and chart as an outline in the Sheets pane, it's easy to swiftly navigate through your document.

An impressive collection of more than 35 Apple-designed themes means you can create a cinema-quality presentation in minutes.

Create images you need on the spot using predrawn shapes. Customize the standard shapes in a variety of ways.

Give a presentation without being there using the new built-in recording tool.

Keynote imports presentations created in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (Office Open XML) as well as earlier versions.

Analyzing data intuitively.
From entering formulas to filtering data sets to creating "what if" scenarios, Numbers '08 offers new ways to interact with and analyze the data in your spreadsheets.

Highly calculating.
Numbers comes with more than 150 ready-to-use functions. Adding one is as simple as dropping it into a cell. And when you create tables with header rows and columns, Numbers uses the data you enter in header cells to create cell names like "2007 Gross Sales" instead of "L26."

What if?
Numbers offers a variety of novel data input methods, allowing you to format cells as sliders or steppers. These offer a great option for "what if" scenarios, letting you quickly change variables and immediately see the results.

Add data from Address Book.
Why enter data contact by contact? Working seamlessly with Address Book, Numbers lets you drag a list of contacts from Address Book into a table. In minutes, you're working with data rather than entering it.

Predictable sorting and filtering.
Easily organize and analyze lists of data. With Numbers, you can sort complete rows in a table by column, or filter rows based on the numerical, text, or date values in their cells.

Impressive results fast.
With its flexible templates and a powerful set of easy-to-use tools, Numbers '08 lets you build exceptional spreadsheets--impressive to look at and simple to understand--in minutes.

Apple-designed templates.
You can be crunching numbers quickly if you start with one of the Apple-designed templates that come with Numbers. Templates include preconfigured tables and charts with built-in formulas and sample data.

Control the way your spreadsheet looks.
Numbers lets you arrange tables, charts, text, and graphics anywhere on its free-form canvas. Design the perfect spreadsheet using alignment guides, rulers, masking, and other tools.

Add a slide of iLife.
Turn your spreadsheets into persuasive documents. Use the built-in Media Browser to browse and preview your photos, movies, and music. Then drag the files you want into your spreadsheet.

Stylish tables, impressive charts.
Each Numbers spreadsheet comes with a list of predesigned styles that make it easy to create beautifully formatted tables. You can add 2D and 3D charts with a single click, customizing them with more than 20 sets of chart textures.

Print without surprises.
When it's time to print a spreadsheet, use the interactive print view to scale and arrange your document to print exactly as you like.

Widely compatible.
Numbers '08 gets along famously with Microsoft Excel, letting you import Excel spreadsheets and export Numbers '08 documents for Excel users.

Numbers excels at Excel.
Numbers handily imports spreadsheets created in earlier Excel formats, as well as Excel 2007 documents created in new Office Open XML formats.

If you have AppleWorks documents, you can give them a brand-new home in Numbers. They import quickly so you can take advantage of all the flexibility and power of Numbers '08.

Parlez-vous "OFX"?
Truly multilingual, Numbers imports documents in many common file formats. That includes text documents saved in Comma Separated Values (CSV), tab-delimited files. And you can even drop onto your Numbers table Address Book cards, and Open Financial Exchange format files.

Sharing your spreadsheets.
Since you can export spreadsheets created in Numbers in the Excel .xls format. Excel users on either a Mac or Windows PC can open your exported Numbers documents.

You can also export your documents in PDF or CSV format. If you'd like to publish your spreadsheets on the Internet, send them to iWeb as a PDF or Numbers document.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars IWork 08 excellent product.......2007-09-20

I find iWork 08 to be an excellent product. I am using Pages in lieu of WORD and now Numbers replaces Excell and even AppleWorks. Great value.

5 out of 5 stars Finally ready for prime time.......2007-09-18

I used iWork '05 and '06 since they came out, and let me tell you, the upgrade to '08 is startlingly packed. I started using iWork when it became clear that Apple intended to dump the long-suffering Appleworks that I had so enjoyed for years and years. It always seemed unfair that such a feature-packed piece of software was left to languish in the OS X era, so I was excited to see what Apple had to offer in the way or a replacement when the original iWork was released.

I was sorely disappointed. Where was the spreadsheet module? Where were the drawing and painting modules? Why was word processing so slow and clunky? Granted, Keynote was great, but Pages left a whole lot to be desired. From the beginning, it didn't really seem to know what it was. Was it supposed to be "lite" desktop publishing? Were you supposed to be able to use it for standard word processing?

The '08 version of Pages changes all of this; finally, Pages is a worthy competitor to Microsoft Word in addition to its now-formidable desktop publishing abilities. It borrows the best ideas from both the Mac version of Word as well as the Windows version, and it's gained a truckload of features, like change tracking (finally!), grammar checking, easy Wikipedia lookups, a super-useful context-sensitive formatting bar, and what feels like a five-fold increase in performance.

Granted, Word has plenty of features that Pages lacks. But for that matter, Pages is full of things that Word goes without, like easy integration with iPhoto, the context-sensitive formatting bar, and the high price point. The basic point is that Pages is a stable, mature, full-featured word processor, and it feels a hundred times more like a proper Mac application than Word. If you're just now looking for a word processor, I strongly recommend you to take a look at Pages. It's got the features to stand up to the 800-pound gorilla or Word, and its compatibility is top notch; it can natively read and write the new .docx files, which the current Mac version of Word still can't do, embarrassingly enough.

As for Keynote, it just keeps getting better and better. It already blew PowerPoint out of the water in terms of ergonomics, usability, and output quality, so Apple just loaded it up with features. The non-linear animation in particular is just mind-bogglingly well implemented. I'm used to it through Maya and modo, but Apple has somehow managed to make it seem 100 times more comprehensible and accessible. I don't use Keynote ad much as Pages and Numbers, but it's also been substantially improved.

And now finally iWork includes a spreadsheet. Numbers is simply wonderful, plain and simple. It's just packed to the gills with useful time-savers, like the ability to drag in common mathematical operations, such as sum, average, min, and max. What's blindingly obvious is that Apple didn't just want to clone Excel. What they did was look at common usage patterns among spreadsheet users and make the common tasks amazingly easy. Need to sum up a couple of cells? Easy as pie, no typing required. Want to quickly find out the average of some other cells? Simply select then and you'll see that it's already been computed for you, and you can even drag that live average count into a cell to paste it as a formula. Genius! I can't even begin to express how much time this routinely saves me.

Numbers even includes an easy way to figure out the printable areas of your tables and easily adjust them accordingly. I remember this being a problem in the ancient version of Excel I used in middle school, and that Microsoft still hasn't really done anything about it is just embarrassing. Numbers also lets you make multiple charts and drag them around relative to each other, and Apple spends an awful lot of time going on and on about this feature. Really, it's cool, but to me, the much more valuable aspects of Numbers are the shortcuts I listed above that save truly enormous amounts of time. Numbers doesn't skimp. iWork finally has a spreadsheet, and it's not just another spreadsheet--it's my Excel killer. Finally!

You might have noticed the word "finally" an awful lot in this review. That's because iWork 08 is really the first version of iWork I confidently recommend to my friends when they ask me whether or not they should buy the Mac version of Word. iWork is really and truly ready for prime time for the first time in its life. To be honest, I can hardly contain my joy at Apple's phenomenal progress with iWork '08. It truly seems like iWork is a worthy competitor to Office, and the word that was put into iWork is shiningly obvious. iWork '08 is a diamond in the rough. No, scratch that, it's the diamond you've always wanted to replace the roughness of Microsoft Office with.

4 out of 5 stars Great improvement on Pages, worthy initial release for Numbers.......2007-09-15

For the price, this office suite is a good choice for any Mac user. The family pack - for households like ours, where we have three macs - this is an obvious choice.

I'll not review Keynote - I abhor presentations and just avoid them like the plague. Nothing against the powerpoint (or in this case, Keynote) jockey - I just am not one and don't care for it. No, not even to open a presentation. I just don't.

Pages has advanced a lot as a word processor, and it is the most intuitive page layout system I've ever seem. In minutes you learn how to use text boxes, move them around, and add graphics to produce documents that look amazing. Pages is a ton better than neooffice's (free software) word processor and it holds its own to MS Word (that costs much more and has the usability and performance of a hog swimming in molasses). Apple provides a ton of useful templates, but I wish there was a community effort to produce more (there are some third parties selling templates).

Numbers is an interesting thing. It changes the idea of a spreadsheet by making the sheets independent of the printed page. You can have many independent or related sheets in the same page and arrange that in the most amazing layouts. My only complaint is the keyboard support - If you are entering a formula you will be required to use the mouse. For anyone that has used a spreadsheet application it is just natural to press the = sign and start moving around with the arrows to select cells. That simple, mindless act, is prevented in Numbers by the choice of having a formula editor that floats over the sheets. I suppose that makes sense since you can have disconnected sheets and the keyboard would not help navigating them, but I would prefer to have some keyboard navigation (maybe in the sheet where I'm placing the formula) than none. I've put in a request for a software update, but I'm not holding my breath. The conversion from and to Excel formats seems to work just fine (saving excel files has a small issue that is solved by running a command in terminal). If you need (or want) spreadsheets that look beautiful, you can't beat Numbers. If you are just looking for a quick way to munch on tabular data and make some calculations, neooffice (free software) is a better choice. Heck, if your needs are simple even Google spreadsheet will do the job. Nobody needs excel, since even Neooffice (and Google, and everyone else) does a good job opening that format too.

5 out of 5 stars So easy to use.......2007-09-05

I bought the 06 version and loved it.
I downloaded the trial version for 08 to see if it is worth the new price, afterall, I bought the 06 just not so long ago (maybe less than 3 months).
The new Numbers and Pages are just wonderful. It is so much more intuitive than MS Office. I have the Office for Mac and I have been using Office in Windows for the past 10 years. But ever since I started using Pages and Keynote, and now Numbers, I have to say hands down, iWork 08 is near perfection for 99.9% of all office needs.
I wish there were even more templates for all three apps. But with the included templates, one could modify them to create new templates fairly easy and quick.
My trial period is coming to an end in a couple of weeks. I will buy the iWork 08 for sure.

5 out of 5 stars Recommended.......2007-08-19

The iWork 08 family edition which let you install it on 5 Mac's for only $99, so for those who are complaining about not having an upgrade then try buying MS Office. MS Office cost around $400 depending on which version you buy and if you want a upgrade it will cost you around $300. So I really don't understand what people are complaining about having no upgrade. This iWork 08 is very easy to use and easy to convert to for people who use MS Office. You just can't go wrong with buying iWork 08 for the price.

This four-pack of 800 mAh AAA batteries is ideal for everything from electric shavers to TV remotes to portable flashlights.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best rechargeables currently available.......2007-09-19

These batteries have one major advantage over most other rechargeables - they retain their charge much longer. This is especially useful for my digital camera. I don't use it every day and may go 2-3 weeks between uses. With other brands I would always have to charge up a new set of batteries each time I used my camera because they would discharge while sitting idle in my camera for 2 weeks. Now I can just pick up my camera and go.

These don't have the highest capacity out there, but since the higher capacity batteries discharge pretty quickly, I find that I actually get a lot more usage from these than I did from 2500mAh Energizers. I hope they do come out with a higher capacity version eventually, but even now they beat all the competition out there.

5 out of 5 stars Great batteries.......2007-09-13

I was looking for a good set of rechargables and found these. I am very happy with the battery life I get between charges.

5 out of 5 stars Great batteries!.......2007-07-25

This is truly a GREAT product. One of the few times I ordered a new product and gotten everything I'd hoped for and more! I'd always hesitated buying rechargeable batteries because of their tendency to loose their charge when sitting idly in a camera or other device. Not these! I'm a believer. They have both high potency and long storage life. This is one of the few products I've ever recommended without reservations.

5 out of 5 stars best battery ever.......2007-05-16

I use these batteries in my COBY mp3 player. It plays about 3-4 hours of music with out problem.

4 out of 5 stars Decent rechargeable and hold charge pretty well.......2007-05-13

I have used them for a couple weeks now and they perform pretty well.

Hello, tomorrow. The biggest Mac OS X upgrade ever, Leopard features 300+ innovations. Explore the Mac of the future today. Arriving in October.

Create Stacks from anything to access quickly in one place.

Enjoy a gorgeous new look and organize your files in Stacks.

Desktop. A neat place to work.
From the menu bar to the stunning new Dock, the Leopard desktop isn't just about design. It's about enjoying the time you spend on your computer and getting more out of it.

    An eye-opening experience.
Start from the top. The menu bar hovers transparently above your workspace, letting the desktop image--perhaps a favorite from your iPhoto library--take center stage. Dock icons rest on a reflective floor with a bright active application signal. And the look of Leopard extends to all applications: Every window has a consistent design theme, and active applications are even more distinct, casting deeper shadows.

    Stacked in your favor.
Take a look at your desktop. Is it cluttered with files you downloaded or saved there (somewhat less than) temporarily? You're not alone. Everybody does it. Time to clean house with Stacks--a brand-new feature in Leopard. Create Stacks from anything you want to access quickly from one place: a handful of documents, a group of applications, an entire folder. Files you download in Safari or save from an email are automatically directed to a Stack in the Dock, and when the download is complete, the Stack signals that a new item has arrived. When you want to see the files in a Stack, all you have to do is click--Stacks spring open from the Dock in an elegant arc for a few items, or in an at-a-glance grid for more. Pretty neat.

Browse your files like you browse your music with Cover Flow.

Finder. Give your files the rock star treatment.
Imagine if browsing the files on your Mac was as easy as browsing music in iTunes. That's the idea behind the new Finder in Leopard. Now you can access everything on your system from an iTunes-style sidebar and flip through your files using Cover Flow.

Grouped sidebar items help you find what you need fast.

    The sidebar steps up.
Leopard brings new power to your old friend, the sidebar. Now items are grouped into categories: places, devices, shared computers, and searches--just like the Source list in iTunes. So with a single click, you're on your way to finding what you need.

    See what you seek.
Bring your files to life with Cover Flow in the Finder. Just as you use Cover Flow to flip through album art in iTunes, now you can use it to flip through your files. Cover Flow displays each file as a large preview of its first page. And you can page through multipage documents or play movies.

    Search party.
Stop looking and start finding with Cover Flow and Spotlight. Click a prebuilt search like "yesterday" or "all images" in the sidebar and Cover Flow displays your search results in the perfect at-a-glance format. Leopard comes with a number of helpful prebuilt searches, but it's easy to create your own customized searches as well.

    Closer connections.
With shared computers automatically displayed in the sidebar, it's far easier to find or access files on any computer in your house, whether Mac or PC. All it takes is a click. But here's where things get really interesting. By clicking on a connected Mac, you can see and control that computer (if authorized, of course) as if you were sitting in front of it. You can even search all the computers in the house to find what you're looking for.

And now, back to my Mac.
Ever need something on your Mac when you were thousands of miles from home? With Back to My Mac and a .Mac account, you can connect to any of your Macs at home from any Mac on the Internet. Your home computers will appear in the shared section of the sidebar just as they do when you're in the living room.

    Improved spotlight searches.

    Look deeper.
From the Finder or the menu bar, Spotlight in Leopard lets you search for more specific sets of things. Use Boolean logic to narrow search results by entering "AND," "OR," or "NOT" into a search request. You can also search for exact phrases (using quotation marks), dates, ranges (using greater than [>] and less than [ <] symbols), absolute dates, and simple calculations.

View, play, and read files without even opening them.

Quick Look. Look before you launch.
Using Quick Look in Leopard, you can view the contents of a file without even opening it. Flip through multiple-page documents. Watch full-screen video. See entire Keynote presentations. With a single click.

    Opening files is so 2006.
So you're flipping through files in the Finder. But you're looking for something specific and you don't have time to open lots of files to find it. Enter Quick Look. It gives you a sneak peek of entire files--even multiple-page documents and video--without opening them.

    See everything.
Quick Look works with nearly every file on your system, including images, text files, PDFs, movies, Keynote presentations, and Microsoft Word and Excel files. Click the Quick Look icon or tap the Space bar to see a file in Quick Look. Then click the arrow icon to see the same file full screen--even video as it plays.

Time Machine. A giant leap backward.
More than a mere backup, Time Machine makes an up-to-date copy of everything on your Mac--digital photos, music, movies, TV shows, and documents--so you can go back in time to recover anything.

    Set it, then forget it.
You can start using Time Machine in seconds. The first time you attach an external drive to your Mac, Time Machine asks if you'd like to use that drive as your backup. Say yes and Time Machine takes care of everything else. Automatically. In the background. You'll never have to worry about backing up again.

    Back up everything.
Time Machine keeps an up-to-date copy of everything on your Mac. That includes system files, applications, accounts, preferences, music, photos, movies, and documents. But what makes Time Machine different from other backup applications is that it not only keeps a spare copy of every file, it remembers how your system looked on any given day--so you can revisit your Mac as it appeared in the past.

Go back in time to restore any file on your system.

    Go back in time.
Enter the Time Machine browser in search of your long-lost files and you see exactly how your computer looked on the dates you're browsing. Select a specific date, let Time Machine find your most recent changes, or do a Spotlight search to find exactly what you're looking for. Once you do, click Restore and Time Machine brings it back to the present. Time Machine restores individual files, complete folders, or your entire computer--putting everything back the way it was and where it should be.

    Effortless meets wireless.
With a hard disk connected to your AirPort Extreme Base Station, AirPort all the Macs in your house can use Time Machine to back up wirelessly. Simply select your AirPort Disk as the backup disk for each computer and the whole family can enjoy the benefits of Time Machine.

    Preferential treatment.
Customize Time Machine by modifying the following behaviors in System Preferences:

Drag windows to different workspaces and unclutter your Mac.

    Spaces. Room for everything.
You do a lot on your Mac. So what happens when projects pile up? Easy. Use Spaces to group your windows and banish clutter completely. Leopard gives you a Space for everything and puts everything in its Space.

    Rearrange the rooms.
Create a Space for work. Create a Space for play. Organize each Space the way you want it just by dragging in windows. Keep all your work projects in one Space and that fun flick you made in iMovie in another. Create a communication Space for iChat and Mail. You can even rearrange your Spaces with drag-and-drop ease--shift a Space and every window in it comes along for the ride.

    Make yourself at home.
Moving from Space to Space is easy. Get a bird's-eye view and select the Space you want or toggle between Spaces using the arrow keys. Even the Dock is down with Spaces: When you click a Dock icon, Leopard whisks you to the Space (or Spaces) where you have that application open.

    Pick your patterns.
Configure your Spaces by visiting the Expose Spaces pane in System Preferences. Add rows and columns until you have all the real estate you need. Arrange your Spaces as you see fit, then choose the function keys you want to control them. You can also assign applications to specific Spaces, so you'll always know where, say, Safari or Keynote is.

Email personalized stationery, write to-dos, and take notes.

    Mail. Think outside the inbox.
Leopard transforms email into personalized stationery. Notes you can access anywhere. To-dos that change as your errands do. For everything you do with email--and some things you haven't thought of yet--there's Mail.

    Sincerely yours.
Mail for Leopard features more than 30 professionally designed stationery templates that make a virtual keepsake out of every email you send. Mail Stationary From invitations to birthday greetings, stationery templates feature coordinated layouts, fonts, colors, and drag-and-drop photo placement--everything to help you get your point across. You can even create personalized templates. And messages created using stationery in Mail use standard HTML that can be read by every popular email program on the market--for both Mac and PC.

Notes and tasks help you stay organized.

    Noteworthy indeed.
Ever email yourself a reminder that gets lost in your inbox? Mail lets you write handy notes you can access from anywhere. Brainstorm ideas, jot down meeting notes, scribble a phone number--notes can include graphics, colored text, and attachments. Group notes into folders or create Smart Mailboxes that group them for you. Since your notes folder acts like an email mailbox, you can retrieve notes from any Mac or PC.

    Much ado about to-dos.
Forget manually entering a new item to your to-do list every time an email hits your inbox. Mail Tasks Simply highlight text in an email, then click the To-do icon to create a to-do from a message. Include a due date, set an alarm, or assign priorities. Every to-do you create includes a link to the original email or note, and to-dos automatically appear in iCal, complete with any edits or additions you make. And since to-dos are stored with your email, you can access them from Mail on any Mac.

    Spotlight on Mail.
With smarter relevance ranking in Spotlight, you'll find the right email at the top of the search results list. And everything you create in Leopard Mail--to-dos, notes, and, of course, email messages--appears in a Spotlight search of your system.

    Stop the presses.
Subscribe to an RSS feed in Mail and you'll know the moment an article or blog post hits the wire. Even better, you can choose to have new articles emailed to you. Sorting your news is easy, too. Use Smart Mailboxes to organize incoming news articles according to search terms that pique your interest. Mail shares its unread RSS feed count with Safari, so your reading list always stays in sync.

    Data, detected.
Say you get an email invitation to dinner. What if Mail recognized the address of the restaurant and let you map directions on the web? Or let you click once to add the date to your iCal calendar? With Leopard, it does. Mail even recognizes combinations of data in phrases like "lunch tomorrow at 12 p.m. at 701 Baltic Ave, San Francisco, CA," making it easy to make plans.

    Setup made simple.
Now you can set up a new Mail account in one easy step. Just enter your current email address and password and let Mail do the rest. Mail works with the most popular email providers to automatically configure all those cryptic server settings for you.

Add effects to video chats and make remote presentations.

iChat. Not being there is half the fun.
Filled with fun new features, iChat turns any video chat into an event. Video backdrops, Photo Booth effects, photo slideshows, Keynote presentations, even movies on your Mac--you can share it all using iChat.

Transform your video chats using Photo booth effects.

Share your files with friends using iChat Theater.

    Chat for effect.
Transform your video chats using new Photo Booth effects. Choose an effect and your image changes instantly--iChat detects your background and adds the effect only to your image. And the reverse is true for iChat backdrops: Drag an Apple-designed backdrop or your own photo or video into the video preview window to create an effect that will fool your buddies into thinking you're chatting from your living room, the beach, or the moon.

    Show off (without showing up).
Why wait for a darkened room and a projector to present vacation photos or Keynote slides? Now you can do it all remotely, right in iChat. Put on an entire photo slideshow, click through a Keynote presentation, or play a movie--in full screen, accompanied by a video feed of you hosting--while your buddy looks on. In fact, you can show any file on your system that works with Quick Look.

    Chatting for the record.
Now you can save your audio and video chats for posterity with iChat recording. Before recording starts, iChat notifies your buddies and asks for their permission to record. When you're done chatting, iChat stores your audio chats as AAC files and video chats as MPEG-4 files so you can play them in iTunes or QuickTime. Share them with colleagues, friends, and family or sync them to your iPod and play on the go.

    Crystal-clear audio.
iChat uses the AAC-LD audio codec to deliver the clearest possible sound during audio chats. A wideband codec that samples a full range of vocal frequencies, AAC-LD sounds great with any voice.

    Still the best for text.
Sure, iChat has a lot to offer for video and audio chats, but text messaging also gets a boost in Leopard, thanks to these additions:

    AIM to please.
iChat works with AIM, the largest instant messaging community in the U.S. You and your buddies can be either AIM or .Mac users. Text, audio, and video chat whether your buddies use a Mac or PC. Sign in with your AIM account and all your buddies appear in your iChat buddy list.

    iCal. Your schedule is clear.
Leopard introduces a new look to iCal, along with an easier-to-use interface that makes scheduling and rescheduling a breeze. Add new group calendaring features, and iCal works better for business or pleasure.
    Photo Booth. Say cheese.
Come on. You know you want to. Your built-in iSight or USB camera just begs to take your snapshot. Open Photo Booth--now built into Leopard--and have a little fun.
    Dashboard. Where there's a will, there's a widget.
Leopard lets you create your very own Dashboard widget from any website. And new .Mac syncing keeps all of your widgets on all of your Macs.
Front Row. Put on a show.
Looking for a great way to enjoy all the cool stuff on your Mac? Front Row in Leopard works like Apple TV to play digital music, movies, TV shows, and photos on your Mac using the ultra-simple Apple Remote.
Safari. Still the world's best web browser.
Now your favorite web browser is also the fastest on the planet. With page load speeds to rival every other major browser, Safari for Leopard also introduces a few new features to the mix.
    DVD Player. Very entertaining.
DVD Player in Leopard probably boasts more features than the DVD player in your home entertainment system. And you don't have to leave your Mac to enjoy it.
    Parental Controls
Give your kids a safer, happier Mac experience.
    Accessibility. More user friendly.
Leopard offers new features destined to make it the most accessible Mac OS yet. New voice technology in VoiceOver, along with Braille support, Breakthrough Browsing, and extended keyboard capability, give users with visual disabilities more control over the Mac than ever.
Boot Camp. Run Windows on your Mac.
Leopard is the world's most advanced operating system. So advanced, it even lets you run Windows if there's a PC application you need to use. Just get a copy of Windows and start up Boot Camp, now included with Leopard. Setup is simple and straightforward--just as you'd expect with a Mac.
    Automator. Your personal automation assistant.
Automator brings remarkable speed to any task that's often repeated on your computer. Leopard adds even more muscle to Automator, making it easy to automate more kinds of tasks.

A host of new features that make life easier for every developer.

    Rock-solid foundations.
Explore the core technologies that power Leaopard.

64-Bit. Advanced precision in one OS.
Leopard delivers 64-bit power in one, universal OS. Now the Cocoa application frameworks, as well as graphics, scripting, and the UNIX foundations of the Mac, are all 64-bit. And since you get full performance and compatibility for your 32-bit applications and drivers, you don't need to update everything on your system just to run a single 64-bit application.

    Multicore. Fire on all cylinders.
Today's Mac computers offer astounding performance with up to ei
