The AVR-3805 analyzes and calibrates 6 critically important speaker settings: connection, phase, size, channel level, time delay, and frequency response.

A feature called Room EQ corrects frequency response with an 8-band parametric equalizer and adjusts to the optimum soundfield, compensating for speaker and room capability issues. Auto Set-Up calibration and Room EQ requires the use of an optional microphone, either Denon's own DMS-305 or another compatible mic. You can disable both the EQ and Auto Set-Up features if you prefer calibrating the receiver in the traditional manner.

The AVR-3805 owes a big part of its great sound quality to its premium digital-audio technologies, such as Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit floating-point DSP processing and Denon's proprietary advanced DDSC-D (Dynamic Discrete Surround Decoder-Digital) circuitry.

The AVR-3805 features 3 assignable sets of component-video inputs and one set of monitor inputs (all with high-definition-compatible 100 MHz bandwidth). Simplifying video connectivity and switching among its 7 (each) composite- and S-video inputs, the AVR-3805 includes video up-conversion that converts composite- and/or S-video sources to component-video without compromising video quality, greatly simplifying your connections between the receiver and your television.

The receiver offers 10 audio inputs plus a tuner with 56 presets, including a phono input for your turntable. Denon's "power amp assigned" function provides a fully-powered, discrete 2-channel second zone, and the receiver lets you send a fixed-level audio output to a third zone, as well.

Like the company's flagship AVR-5803 receiver, the AVR-3805 also features the latest Denon Link 3, which allows the receiver to receive high-resolution, multichannel digital audio data directly from the Denon DVD-5900 and DVD-9000 DVD players (and future Denon products) for the ultimate level of sonic performance. BE CAREFUL WHO YOU BUY THIS FROM -- MOST etailers are NOT on Denon's approved list -- and they will NOT honor the warranty if bought through them. Denon has two tiers of product marketing: very high price thru an "authorized" dealer and warranty support or low price thru an "unauthorized" dealer with no warranty support. Visit Denon.com to view the limited authorized supplier list. Denon will have NO MERCY if you buy thru a non-authorized dealer, despite having sold to them in the first place! My unit performed perfectly for about 4 weeks. The sound configuration takes some figuring but is sheer beauty when done. The 7.1 signal processing works wonderfully. Unfortunately, the component output completely stopped working without any warning and I am left with a large "boat anchor" in need of several hundred dollars of repair. I'm pretty discouraged...

Why would Amazon sell discontinued products?.......2006-06-10

I bought this receiver a couple of months ago. I am generally satisfied with the quality albeit, I was shocked to know that this is a discontinued product! This means, there is virtually no chance of Denon offering any updates/patches on this product.

I hold Amazon is high esteem but I am very surprised to find it discontinued products on the catalogue. For couple of hundrer dollars, I could have bought something is HDMI switching right on this website.

Fabulous unit that will drive you nuts!.......2006-03-26

I am proud owner of one of these, hooked up full THX with (big) Bose (not the tiny uppie systems for people who want to hide their speakers) and Snells. It replaced a 5700 when I added the 2 extra channels. Up until the 5700, I never had to read a manual in my life (62yo), and even that wasn't too bad except the 5700's remote wasn't very friendly). This beast (3805)is a different story, the remote doesn't make sense, the manual is impossible to figure out, and what a pain in the butt to program every input to the format you want to use (i,e, analog, coax, optical, VHS, S-VHS, component, composite --you get the jist) And if you want to plug something else in temporarily (like my car Sirius recever in its home dock) you're going to get a migraine trying to figure out what to unplug to plug the Sirius in before the program's over.

SOUNDWISE THIS UNIT IS FABULOUS--MORE THAN MATCHES THE 3 LEXICONS I'VE OWNED, but finally gave up on because of their total lack of versatility for use in the real world.

BOTTOM LINE I ENTHUSIASTICALLY LOVE THE RECEIVER, HATE THE REMOTE, AND ALWAYS TAKE MY SHOES OFF WHEN I CHANGE ANY SETTINGS SO I WON'T BE TEMPTED TO KICK THE #### OUT OF IT IF IT STILL DOESN'T WORK AFTER THE 3RD TRIAL SETUP

Great Performance and Quality / Attrocious Manual.......2006-01-05

I just installed this receiver over Christmas. It was a bit of a jump from an older Denon receiver (still perfect after 13 years), but we need surround sound and 3 zones of music. We basically used all of the surround sound and multi-zone features in this unit.
The positives:
It performs as well as could be hoped for. Sound quality is amazing and build quality is better than I thought was available from a large manufacturer.
The interconnect options are unbelievable. Other than no DVI (which a friend who's a pro camera man recommends), it's got everything.
It does everything as advertised.
The negatives:
It's heavy (44 pounds) Watch your back! As an engineer, I find it reassuringly heavy (high quality), so this is a positive to me.
Setup took ridiculously long because of the manual (2 hours to get a Denon CD changer to output sound to zone 2/3). I'm an engineer in a high tech company with tons of electronic integration experience, so I don't think it's me. If you only hook up the 5.1/7.1 speakers with a DVD player and a couple of stereo inputs it shouldn't be bad. But, when you start using multi-zone, etc. it gets very involved. My observations on the cause:
First, there are many undocumented limitations (E.G., which input formats will drive which outputs for audio multi-zone).
Second, the manual was apparently translated from Japanese to English by someone who spoke neither Japanese, nor English. It's a confusing mess.
I talked to a local Denon shop and they said they send a tech out to do the setup with every unit they sell.
My overall opinion: It's a beautiful piece of work, but prepare your significant other for 2-3 days of immersion in the project if you are going to use all the system capabilities.

Cons:
-Remote usability sucks--most Denon remotes do so you may expect that
-Because remote lights up whenever touched, it eats through batteries quickly
-Amps could not drive my main speakers that were 6ohm (but sometimes likely dropped to much lower)
-I solved that by adding an external amp to drive the mains, but then the automatic room EQ setting did not work at all
-Somewhat difficult to navigate the UI from the display alone, somewhat dependent on the on-screen display
-No DVI switching or pass through

Kogi 17" LCD monitor did not last 2 yrs........2005-12-20

I bought a Kogi 17" LCD monitor in January 2003. It was great while it worked, but it died December 2005.

It's ok, for the price.......2005-08-08

The first one I got had a dead pixel. I brought it back to CompUSA immediately, and got a new one that's worked fine ever since -- for over 2 years now with my KVM switch. I've only had a few issues with it:
1) When switching computers on my KVM switch, I sometimes getting a fuzzy screen and have to have it auto-adjust (forgot the correct word) the display again in the setupmenu.
2) It doesn't do text modes well, they get cut off. I called them and they said they don't support text modes.
3) You can't manually resize or adjust the display area of the screen like on most monitors.

monitor needs replacement after 18 months.......2005-03-10

I purchased my L7EH monitor from COMPUSA. When I first connected it there were 3 dead pixels (below the count for RMA). It wasn't as bright as the CRT I replaced but we got used to this relatively quickly. Last week the monitor starting to shut down about 30 seconds after the PC was booted. Every time I had to turn it off and back on again. This would still only work for about 30 seconds. I put the CRT back on and everything was fine. I tried the flat monitor on another PC and the same thing happed. I called KOGi support and the first thing they asked me was what AC adapter I was using. When I told them, they said it could be 1 of 2 possible lighting problems. 1 was still under warranty and the other wasn't. They told me there was no way to tell what was the problem unless I sent them the monitor. If the failing part wasn't covered under the warranty the cost to fix would be $370. After I stopped laughing I politely asked them about returns on this monitor and what was the breakdown of warranty vs. non-warrany repairs. At this point the conversation headed south quickly. They told me they didn't have that kind of information available.

I liked the LCD monitor for all the space it freed up on my desk(more room for other clutter). This was my first LCD flat monitor and I will be buying another rather than roll the dice with KOGi and their repair policies.

Beware.......2004-12-05

I ordered this monitor because the other reviews said it was a good deal. Big mistake. The first monitor they sent me didn't work, so i had to send it back. Then then sent me another monitor, and this second one is barely usable, as the screen flickers almost all the time. Because I didn't want to go through the bother of sending this one back again and possibly getting an even worse monitor, I am learning to live with it.

I wonder if all these other reviewers are actually real people who bought the monitor or whether they work for the company that sells it. Do not trust them. This product is terrible. Spend an extra 150 bucks and buy a real monitor from dell or another reputable company.

Good Picture , Great Monitor.......2003-12-10

I've had the black version of this monitor for about a month now and I can safely say that I made a very wise decision in buying it. I did alot of research prior to buying it and I was slightly put off by the brand name (I'd never heard of Kogi) but my doubts were unfounded.
You open the box, plug it in to your pc and your basically done. There is an auto tune function which gets the best color and clarity settings and, after I had set the text setting on my pc to true type, the text was just as clear as the graphics. Since then, I have never had to touch any of the settings.
The only thing wrong with it is the really bad speakers built in which are very small and sound tinny. I have other speakers which I use although if you're not bothered about sound quality, the built in speakers are fine.
Whether I'm typing a letter, playing a game or browsing the web, both graphics and text are crystal clear and with a response time of 20ms (not 40ms as stated in other reviews), you cant go wrong. It looks great and for $..., it's clearly a real bargin.

No Physical Switch Overide for Hot Keys, Loses Connectivity.......2006-08-06

Hot key command sequence stops working. Initially this device operated ok, but after a few hours of operation (idle -- not switching between PC's) the KVM loses connectivity with the PC's. A hard reboot is necessary, making the KVM useless. There are no physical switches on the unit to overide the hot keys. I returned the unit and replaced with an Airlink AKVM-S32 which appears to be functioning well.

Best PS2 KVM out there.......2006-06-28

This is the best PS2 KVM I've found. The swapping via keyboard is genius. The addition of sound input and output ports is byfar the winning feature for me, here, because the last KVM I used didn't allow me to also share speakers or a microphone between my two PCs. These are getting hard to find, but I was lucky to find a couple at a nearby Radioshack. For folks who have PS2 peripherals they don't want to part with in the marketplace increasingly dominated by USB, this KVM is defnitely the way to go.

When I restart my computers (something I do at least once a week) this kvm switch stops working: the mouse loses its functionality and sometimes even the keyboard "disappears" so that the only way to restart the computer is through a "hard reboot".
