Accessory kit leaves something to be desired.......2006-10-07
The case was decent, if a bit cramped for the camera (a Fuji Finepix E900). I didn't use the cleaning cloth. The memory wallet seemed like it would be useful, but is generic and there was no room in the case for it. I used two of the batteries included to try out the camera while charging the ones that actually came with the camera, and they were dead in less than 50 shots. I think this box had been sitting in stock for quite some time. I would recommend looking elsewhere for these kinds of accessories.

The Manfrotto 190XV tripod--which comes with the company's 700RC2 mini video head--shares the same high-quality features as the standard 190XB model, but comes with top leg sections that are finished in a dark green color that's styled for the outdoor enthusiast. The 190X tripod series builds on the success of the 3001 series, but has been redesigned to offer better ergonomics and improved function. The 190XV is distinguished by its revamped aluminum frame, which is lighter than previous incarnations and slightly more compact. As a result, it's more convenient to bring this tripod along on shoots without weighing yourself down. Plus, the ergonomics of the leg-angle release mechanism and the quick-action leg locks have also been greatly improved, making it a breeze to open, position, and close the tripod in just a few seconds. Best of all for cold-weather photographers, the 190XV includes leg warmers on two of the legs, so you can handle the tripod in extreme weather conditions. And should you need to balance the tripod on an uneven surface, you can set each of the legs to a different spread angle over the tripod's center of gravity--a must for nature shots on outdoor terrain. The tripod can reach a maximum working height of 57.5 inches and a minimum height of 3.1 inches using the low-angle adapter built into the center column. The 190XV is ideal for outdoor use with cameras up to SLR size with a medium pro zoom lens attached.
The compact and lightweight two-movement 700RC2 video head, meanwhile, is principally designed to support the latest digital video equipment, but is also suitable for spotting scopes and still photography cameras with medium and long tele lenses. The 700RC2 is equipped with a fixed-length pan bar with a soft handle, along with separate locking mechanisms for the 360-degree pan and the +90/-75 degree tilt. The fixed system of fluid cartridges contribute by ensuring smooth and constant movements on both axes. Add in a quick-release 200PL-14 video plate system with a VHS pin and a secondary safety catch and you have an ideal video head for almost any application. The 700RC2 also works with the optional 200PL-38 plate.

Found A Way To Fix This Phone! .......2007-01-29
I read most of the reviews of this phone and agree with them. I would never buy another GE phone. In fact, I am waiting for my new Uniden cordless phone to arrive from Amazon. In the meantime, I tried this experiment yesterday. I took the battery out of the phone, then sprayed the keys and talk button in front with 409 Orange Power. I really doused it good. After that, I blasted the phone with steaming hot water, so much so that the screen fogged up.
Now, after that I shook the excess water out and duct taped the phone to a fan, with the buttons facing the fan. Today I hooked the battery back up, put everything back together and tried it. It worked fine even without a charge. I didn't have to keep pressing the same number 3 times to get it to register. It worked similar to when it was new.
I've done this with stereo receivers by taking the cover off, putting them in the bathtub, squirting them with a spray cleaner and blasting them with a hot shower. Then I put them in between two fans for THREE days. After that, they work fine. I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this. Just make sure you don't have the unit plugged in when you do this or you'll get shocking results. Try it! What have you got to lose?

Bought one of these phones. Like everyone else, followed ALL instructions EXACTLY. After less than 1 year, battery won't hold charge and phone keys have to be pressed numerous times to dial. Just bought brand new battery and followed charging recommendations before attempting use. It doesn't work. Headed for the garbage. DON'T BUY THIS and waste your money.

Man, were we diappointed with this GE phone! We did everything right---"trained" the battery in the beginning, made sure we routinely charged it, never dropped or abused this phone, and then one day it started not holding a charge. We couldn't figure it out.
It worked fine for about a year and then completely crapped out, just like the other reviewers have said. We had a 10-year old Toshiba that was so fabulous and reliable up to it's unfortunate demise, which is when we acquired this loser. Are there any good phones out there somewhere????

The phone arrived very quickly as promised in the advertisement and functions as advertised. I like the clarity and battery life. I purchased this phone since I have another one in white and I like the fidelity of the sound on this model.

BELLS AND WHISTLES BUT CAN YOU HEAR THEM NOW? Sound quality is distorted and static-y, especially when someone calls you from their cell. Do you enjoy saying, "I'm sorry, what did you say?" You'd better! I purchased the 900mHz because it was touted as being compatible with DSL. I'm not sure what the issue is. I have a GREAT 900 mHz phone by Lucent--crystal clear in sound transmission, but, so old it didn't have caller ID, etc.
Amazon won't help me. It's been over 30 days (around 50 days) since I purchased the phone so of course they won't refund. They gave me a 1-800 number supposedly for GE. It is for "Thompson Products" who apparently make GE products now. The first try yeilded only an automated system to get info on TV/Vid/DVD (visual) products--no mention of phones! I'm now on a PAID call (on hold for about 15 minutes now) to another number suggested. This is BS! Who has time for this?
