With the R800 inkjet photo printer from Epson, you can print professional quality photos from the comfort of your own home. With its fine 1.5-picoliter droplet size, the R800 delivers resolutions up to 5,700 x 1440 dpi for exceptionally detailed and accurate prints. You can also print directly onto inkjet-printable CDs and DVDs, adding a professional look and feel to your media.

Print speeds are as fast as 17 ppm, while a 5-by-7-inch photo can take as little as 45 seconds. (All reported speeds are maximums. Actual speeds will vary.) The R800 can print borderless photos in a number of popular sizes, and accepts a wide variety of plain and photo papers, as well as transparencies and envelopes. The input tray holds up to 100 sheets of regular paper, up to 20 sheets of photo paper, up to 10 envelopes, one transparency, or one printable CD/DVD.

Designed to last, Epson's UltraChrome Hi-Gloss pigment inks deliver photos with an expected life of up to 80 years. The software bundle includes Epson Software Film Factory as well as the PRINT Image Matching II Photoshop plug-in, designed to optimize prints from a wide variety of popular digital cameras.

The R800 connects to your computer via either USB or FireWire and has a 25,000-page monthly duty cycle. Compatible with both PC and Mac operating platforms, the R800 comes backed with a one-year parts and labor warranty.

Mistake, Mistake, Mistake - Will Never Buy Epson Products Again.......2007-08-18

If I could give this piece of junk printer 0 stars, I would. First of all, I can't believe that Epson says this is Vista compatible when they do not and will not ever support the firewire interface on this printer. Beyond that, this thing uses ridiculous amounts of very expensive ink. Try printing a CD label on a printable CD, and use the "darkest" setting, which is the only setting that will produce acceptable results, and you can literally see the ink capacity in your cartridges go down by 5-10% per CD. So, when you factor in the cost of the ink, you're paying probably $5.00-$7.00 to print a single CD. That may be a slight exaggeration, but trust me, it's slight. On top of that, the build quality of this printer is terrible. The paper feeder mechanism will not grab the paper, no matter how fully I load the paper tray, and even getting a single page printout can turn into a maddening exercise in frustration. And it's not because of wear and tear; I am certain that I have printed a total of less than 150 pages with this printer in the entire time that I have had it. As far as photo printing, the results aren't bad, but if you try to handle the prints without letting them dry for at least a day, you risk ruining them due to smudging. I have had much better results with a small Sony dye-sublimation printer. The Sony prints put those produced on this printer to shame, and can be handled immediately after leaving the printer. If you need larger (than 5x7") format photo prints, you're better off ordering them online or going down to the local drugstore. You'll save a lot of money over trying to produce them on the Epson. I have owned mulitple color printers, and this is far and away the worst of them. I foresee an "Office Space" like disposition of this clunker in the near future.

Paper Won't Load! VERY FUSTRATING.......2007-08-12

I don't know how I missed the numerous reviews complaining about how this expensive printer won't load paper but I did. And now I have the same problem. The first few prints were beautiful but all of a sudden I cannot print a thing, regardless of the size or type of paper. I keep getting the same, stupid "Media Loaded Incorrectly" message -- no matter what I do.

I'm through with Epson. I am going to purchase a Canon.

Brace yourself for ink cartridge shock..........2007-06-20

Supplies for the R800 are pricey. $15-$18 for OEM cartridges, and they don't last very long. There are 8, and you'll need 2 or 3 sets of replacements handy to continue working. Most retailers to not carry these specialized cartridges, and you'll be stuck buying 3rd party, or direct from Epson.

No more Epson.......2007-06-13

1. after only three weeks print pause the print-head was blocked
2. Its only wasting the time to clean a printing-head
3. Its expensive and worst Service I ever saw
4. After all nervous breakdown I learn something: NO MORE EPSON!!!

Waste of Money.......2007-06-06

This printer worked great for 20 or 30 pages.
I have not been able to really get a print since. I get just close enough to get hope then it returns to "Media Not Loaded Correctly." I have wasted, literaly, DAYS trying to get this stupid thing to print. I will never buy an epson product agian.

Epson Stylus Photo R800 printer and it's cartridges.......2007-08-22

I would not recommend this model epson printer to any one who owns a Mac computer. It was not made to be
compatible with the Mac and the company has not been very helpful. I've struggled to download the program the
company recommends. I've requested a new manual and have been ignored. This is an expensive model and the
ink is used up quickly and is very expensive to replace.

When it has printed, the photos erwe very good but again many options are not avaliable if you own the apple
computer. I don't recommend the printer because they don't alert anyone until too late about which models it
will be compatible with. M Hill

my bad - silly me buy ink set for printer on one click ( without checking shipping price ) and golly gee - 14.99 for less than half a pound on a 32.99 order ( standard shipping ). get ink set and find out that each pkg not marked for ink color. how is the ink? some day I will figure all this out and let you know.

Amazon requested a review for this from me.. so here it is. Its great. Not sure what else to say, anyone using this printer knows this is the only ink you should use. Epson has high quality pigments that will last for years, they claim even centuries before fading.
