Great Camera !.......2007-09-24
I got this camera because it had a great 10x zoom for under $250. It works great for the money. Recommend for anybody looking for a good entry level camera but want something a little more that the point and shoots that have saturated the market lately.
fresh out of the box First Impression.......2007-09-23
we bought this to replace a great but dated Konica Minolta DiMage. First we thought to buy a used cam but tried the S700 Finepix instead.
First Impressions are usually correct so;
Pros:
easy to use
nice grip, not slick like others of the same type, some costing 2x more
internal zoom, nothing extends past the frame of the cam
_amazing_ picture quality for a $200 cam
Cons:
would rather have the SD card slot under the battery cover
Thats it.
Normally we shoot church functions both indoors and out, this cam
does a better job than the Minolta it replaced, it is several generations
newer tech but the price is in line with consumer electronics types.
Buy it, you'll like it!
Great Camera.......2007-09-20
Easy to use, does a nice job with closeups, video function is a great feature and is very stable. Very pleased.
Great Camera.......2007-09-16
This is my first digital camera and I really like it. It is not for someone who wants to carry a camera in their pocket, but if you like a camera with a little size, I would definately recommend this one.
fujifilm finepix s700 camera.......2007-09-15
I recently purchased this item and love it. I'm not one for reading the user manual and figured it out fairly quickly. My teenagers also. My husband hates camera's, but actually uses this one.
I've down loaded on my Mac with no effort. The pictures are clean, very detailed and the the speed of the camera is awsome. I was looking for a fairly inexpensive camera to take pictures just in general/kids/family. I've pruchased 2 easy shot kodak camera's in the past and found them to be slow and a waste of money with so-so pictures.
I would recommend this camera for anyone who is sick of the so-so camera's they've had and take a step-up without paying a boat load!

Generally happy with this camera.......2007-09-24
I got this camera almost a month ago, and I had plenty of time to use it in various situations: Macro, Nightime, low light, high zoom, normal zoom, and even take pictures of stars.
Pros:
Long exposure time, 30 seconds.
Fully manual mode.
Raw mode.
Good battery life.
Bright LCD, no problem to see it in direct sunlight.
Cons:
The 1600 and 3200 ISOs are useless, they are a deceiving marketing thing.
For long exposures (over 10 seconds), there is a LOT of noise on the camera. It looks as snow.
For such a big sensor, I expected better low light pictures. For example, in an indoor place with no direct sunlight (but lots of ambient natural light), the exposure time can go as high as 1/10 seconds, with F2.8 and ISO 100. Obviously, without a tripod, you will have a hard time getting a good picture. Even with a higher ISO, you'll still need long exposure times, like 1/20 or 1/30.
No live preview on how the image will look with the current settings when on non automatic modes. So in order to determine the correct exposure you need to take a few photos and see how they look. Some cheaper Canon cameras give you a nice preview.
The manual focus can freely move, it doesn't have two ends, such as at 0 CM and infinity. Furthermore, it would be nice if the camera would show you the focus distance.
Overall, I am pretty happy with this camera, I took some really nice photos with it, but most of the low light or macro photos are not good and have to be discarded. Fortunately, with a 2GB XD card, you can take lots of pictures, so some of them will be good.
For the price, you can't beat it -- has everything I wanted except IS and card compatibility.......2007-09-24
Originally, I was looking for a decent digital Point & Shoot to replace my Kodak EasyShare CX7430. Something like the Canon PowerShot A570IS, or the Kodak Z712 IS. I had heard about the cult following surrounding Fuji's F31fd cameras - fantastic low-light shooting and a SuperCCD sensor in a compact size. The thing that got me was the proprietary battery and relatively high price. When I saw the S6000fd marked down from the original retail price, I initially balked because of the DSLR-like size. But then I thought for the price, I could definitely "move up" and start learning some more intermediate aspects of photography instead of just going for a new P&S.
There are some usability features such as the face-detection, Natural light 2-shot mode (one with flash, one without), but others have reviewed them in depth.
Main pros for me:
- Value; same price as many point & shoots
- 28-300 mm manual zoom lens
- Full manual controls
- SuperCCD sensor for higher-quality images
- Low light shooting (up to ISO 3200, though I quickly found you really don't want to use higher than ISO 800).
- Uses AA batteries; I also bought the newer NiMH batteries by Rayovac (Hybrid), Sanyo Eneloops I've heard retain a slightly better charge over time. Some reviews claim 450+ shots on one charge, but I think I got about 350, though I left the camera on quite a bit between shots.
Rayovac Hybrid - Battery 4 x AA NiMH 2000 mAh
GE/SANYO eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries
Cons:
- Uses the more proprietary xD memory card format (I ended up getting a 2 GB Type M card by Olympus, couldn't pass up the price even though I wanted a Type H. Type H doesn't mean High Def as the last reviewer said, it simply has a faster read/write speed. To me, Type M is fast enough for shooting photos and videos, but I don't shoot in RAW format).
- No optical image stabilization. I think Fujifilm's replacement for this model will definitely have that, as well as SD or CF card compatibility. You do end up having to take multiple shots due to blurring in low-light situations.
- The digital image stabilization isn't that useful. In low-light situations where blurring from hand-shake is prevalent, taking pictures in the shake setting causes the ISO level to go up too high. I got better results by shooting in Shutter priority, manually setting the ISO to 400 or 800.
- The auto mode is also not that great. In good lighting conditions or with flash, it takes pictures fairly well. However, with the flash off it also boosts the ISO too high, resulting in a noisy picture. I found I was using the Aperature or Shutter priority mode with a set ISO of 100-400 depending on the situation.
- You can't set the self-timer to stay for shot after shot; needs to be manually selected from the menu each time.
Don't be discouraged by the smaller-sounding 6 MP. It's plenty to print 8x10s or even larger photos. Also, I've read that having less MP for a given CCD sensor will make for a higher quality photo, e.g. 6 MP for this CCD would be better than squeezing 10 MP on the same CCD.
I also considered the Canon S3 IS, a much more popular DSLR-like camera in the same price range. It does have the optical image stabilizer, but most professional reviews online tout the S6000fd's superior image quality (particularly from ISO 200-800) and lens quality over the S3. In the end, I couldn't pass up the S6000fd. It's not perfect, but I still rate it 5 stars based on an incomparable value to anything else out there.
Excellent SLR Like Camera.......2007-09-16
I've been taking pictures for years and my Kodak just wasn't cutting it anymore. I thought I'd try the Fuji 6000 since Consumer Reports rated it high on the list.
I haven't been upset with this camera at all. It takes true to life pictures, the Macros (Upclose) is unreal and the Zoom brings things right up to you. This truly is a great buy. If Fuji isn't running a 50 cash back on this camera, wait 30 days and they're sure to have one floating around on the internet.
If you get an XD card make sure you get the H and not the M. The H is for High Def and it truly makes a difference.
Awesome!.......2007-09-15
I love it! This camera is way better than the Kodak Easyshare I had previously. It takes excellent quality photos. The software is not as easy to use as Kodaks, but the camera is great. I've taken almost 600 photos with it already.
Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd.......2007-09-13
The Fujifilm Finepix S6000fd is a great camera for the money. It is a fun little camera that offers lots of great features. It's easy to forget that it isn't an actual SLR.

Satsfied.......2007-09-17
This is a good affordable camera.
I really don't have any complaints.
Just make sure you don't buy any cheap batteries,
cause the camera wont operate or go off after a lil
while.
I personally use the lithium batteries with this
camera and they last me for a long time depending
on how often you use the camera.
So Far, So Good.......2007-08-15
I just got this camera, and I haven't fully explored its range yet, but so far I'm happy with it. This is my first digital camera. It's a light-weight, compact camera that makes it easy to take along. It was very easy to start taking pictures and install the software on my computer. I just took it with me on vacation in New Mexico and got some great outdoor shots in a wide variety of lighting conditions, and I've also had success using it indoors.
Great Little Camera.......2007-06-27
I love this camera in every way except the power button, which is very tiny even for 5'3" me. Also, you cannot always tell in bright lighting if the picture has taken, although it usually has.
What I love is its size and the quality of the pictures - inside and outside.
Downloading from it is a simple process.
Buy it.
Good but not great........2007-06-12
I got this camera a little over a year ago and was instantly amazed by how easy it was to learn. It doesn't do anything fancy, but I didn't need anything more than a good "point and click" camera to carry around. The delay between clicking and the camera actually taking the picture was a bit off, which makes action shots difficult, but still life photos and portrait type photos are great! The only major downside is how quickly it goes through batteries. Yikes! Rechargables are a good solution, but you better NEVER forget to take an extra pair of fully charged if you're going out for an evening of picture snapping. If you're going on vacation, take a lot.
I'd give this camera a higher rating if not for the way it died on me. The day after I took some pictures, the camera developed a Focus Error and the zoom lense wouldn't retract, even after replacing the batteries. I emailed Fuji about it and they suggested some things that didn't work, or I could send it in for repair that would probably ultimately cost more than the camera itself did. Why bother?
My advice -- shell out a little extra for something better. You'll be glad you did in the long run. If you just want something cheap, this camera is decent, but remember what they say about getting what you pay for...
Wow, lots of camera a little price.......2007-06-12
I bought this camera for my daughter. It was inexpensive and seemed to have good reviews. The surprise was how good the pictures are. I think they are better than my Canon S3's.
It does not give the impression of being a real robust camera, but so far it has worked excellent. It does eat the batterys. I recommend getting some high capacity 2700 mha nimh rechargeable batterys

This not a camera for kids.......2007-09-21
I have been shooting photos for over 30 years as an artist. If you do not understand manual settings, buy a point and shoot, or a throw away camera. I used a manual Nikon FM2s and nikormats for 25 years.
People give this camera bad reviews because they fail to use it properly, it takes trial and error because it works so well in low light; I hate flash photos as it changes the reality of the light source. .
For the price there has never been a better camera. People complain it lacks a stability but real cameras fit on a mono pod and tripod.
I love canon and would rather have a canon but this camera does what I need at a much lower price. I buy up ever year or 2 and this is just the next step.
Great camera for the money.......2007-09-19
What is nice about the Fuji film S9100 is that It is a very versatile camera: however it has a very professional feel to it. You can go from close macros to a long telephoto with out the hasel of changing lenses. The Image quality is very good for this type of camera. The quality is a little bit less than an slr but it is good enough for average users. It is nice have the manual zoom. the camera has a nice long zoom. 300m. There are telephoto lens attachments that you can buy that fit on the front of the lens 1-3x.
This camera is very intuitive. I learned how to make good pictures using the manual modes. I truly recommend this camera for people looking for advanced cameras.
It is a very good product........2007-09-05
If someone likes to by a good camera, this is the one to get. It make fantastic pictures with awsome colors. Alexander
Great camera.......2007-09-03
This camera and lens combination is 98% of what I wanted and need. I enjoy the 28 - 300 mm (35 mm equiv) zoom, though there are a few times a 500-600 mm would be better. However, I don't want to lug around the equivalent lenses for a DSLR. I want to get rid of the weight and complexity.
The pictures are sharp, true to color and easy. I found the previous commenters tipped me off to an important part of using the camera: read the manual and experiment with the various setting combinations. I think I love most of all the automatic bracketing. I set it for 2/3 stop over and under and it shoots 3 pictures in rapid succession: one "right," one 2/3 over-exposed, on 2/3 under-exposed. Thus, I get one perfect out of the set. This does not function in raw mode. I have found raw mode with ISO 100 is great, but I think I will settle for the auto-bracketing function with jpg most of the time.
Olympus and Fuji have the reputation for the closest to true colors and I wanted that, even though some Canon cameras are widely touted. I made my decision after a few reviews of the Canon IS5 were out and I had a chance to get the Canon in my own hands. I personally prefer the manual zoom of the Fuji S9100.
I put a 58 mm skylight filter on it right away. Good thing I did, I had some sort of liquid drop on the lens (filter) within the first week.
I haven't been so happy with a purchase (gift of my choosing) in decades, thus the 5 stars.
Ordering from Amazon and delivery from 17th Street Photo was swift and sure.
A very useful camera........2007-09-02
This was my first digital camera, other than a Nikon L4. My previous photographic equipment experience spans 35mm through 120; 4x5, and 8x10 view camera formats; and darkroom work.
I currently do not print larger than 8"x10", at a minimum of 300 dpi.
I am enjoying the camera. Has a good balance of features, good optics, etc. I would recommend it to:
Someone that does not want to go to DSLR, but is used to film and manual lens work, and wants an all-in-one camera.
While a beginner can use it, I would think this model would be most satisfying for a person who has been doing photography for awhile.
Pluses for me (so far):
28mm wide end.
Has a real cable release!
The most recent update of Adobe Photo Raw 4.1 recognizes this camera, and the similar s6000fd. That Adobe plug-in is compatable also with Elements 5.0. I do not use the Fuji software at all.
RAW mode.
A manual zoom ring. THAT makes a huge difference.
Compact Flash storage slot.
The "chrome" mode looks like Fujichrome 50 at about -1/3 stop. Figures I guess. But nice if you are shooting color and used to slide film.
Downside:
While it has been functioning well, I would pay more if this model/design had more metal in the body, and the tripod socket (it is plastic) were metal.
XD cards. (This one can also take compact flash though).
While it is not an issue for me, (i use mine mainly on a tripod shooting RAW anyway), the time lag to write a RAW file is long. If you want to shoot action in RAW, this is not your camera. JPEG is fine.
As others have pointed out, the RAW mode choice should be "under" the F button, not in the setup menu.
Recommended for "making" pictures, more so than for snaps.

Customer Reviews:
Terrific camera for the money.......2007-09-19
We had a Nikon Coolpix before, but just got tired of the slow reaction times and the poor indoor pictures. So we decided to get a camera that was: (a) great for indoor and low-light shots, and (b) had a fast reaction time.
This camera is terrific in those areas. I've taken shots with the lights off and been fairly impressed with them. My eyes are still better than the camera, and I imagine a digital SLR would be better, but this is still miles ahead of where I'm used to being.
The speed is wonderful, I can take pictures almost as fast as I can push the button. I'm used to a 1+ second lag for it to focus, and with little kids they never smile that long! This camera is quite fast, so we love that aspect of it too.
But even better, the battery seems to last forever. Way better than the coolpix and olympus cameras I've seen. dpreview.com has more info on it.
It's a 6 MP camera, which I thought was good because my hard drive isn't big enough to store many 10+ MP shots. A nice balance of filesize and quality.
The only downside is that I've had trouble with the 2GB card I bought, it gets corrupted and hangs when I'm uploading pictures to my computer. Still not sure if it's the camera misformatting the data, the card is faulty, or the card reader is dying.
Otherwise, a wonderful purchase for someone wanting to get better than compact-quality without spending $700+ to do it.
Great available light camera........2007-09-16
This camera gets photos in very low light, nothing this small comes close to this low light performance.
Awesome and easy!.......2007-09-15
I highly recommend this camera as much for its quality of photos as for the tons of features all within a very compact camera. The price I got via Amazon was great so all around, I am extremely pleased!
Best point and shoot for low light photography.......2007-09-14
This camera is famous for its low light performance. Fuji's newer models of the F series are inferior in this regard, so this this is destined to become a collectors item once it is discontinued. If you like to take indoor pictures with available light (no flash), this is the one to get!
Great Camera.......2007-09-11
My husband has enjoyed this camera a lot. Just what he wanted and was even more impressed with the price.

OK.............2007-08-27
PICTURE QUALITY IS GOOD WITH A FLASH FOR EVENING OR LOW LIGHT SHOTS THE IMAGE QUALITY IS NOT THAT GREAT THOUGH.
Great Cam!.......2007-07-20
I did a thorough research before I bought this cammera. For its price, I don't think you can ask for more. However, the picture can be a little bit grainy when viewed in full size (I'm not sure if this is the case for other cameras as well). One more thing, I can't find a way to view the recorded videos on my computer yet. I can transfer the videos from the SD card to my hard drive but can't view it. I can only hear the sound.
Edit 8/1/07: I am able to view the videos with Quicktime player. :)
Fuji makes a fine camera!.......2007-05-21
This is my second Fuji camera and I love it! It takes clear, sharp pictures and is really easy to use. The video feature captures wonderful footage with very little shake and decent audio. For a "point and shoot" camera this is excellent value for the money!

Pros -- Easy to use -- entry level camera
Cons -- Photo Print quality larger than 4 x 6 is very poor, lots of noise, colors do not seem natural. I would suggest that you spend a little extra money and buy the Nikon P-3 or P-4.

other than that, Mrs Lincoln. . . ........2007-09-15
There are lots of things to like about this camera -- its over-all look, the tiny size, the big display, Amazon's ab-fab price.
But the picture quality is not great. And it IS a camera.
So other than that, Mrs Lincoln, how did you like the play?
And the battery -- that would be the $40 battery -- didn't last even 6 months before it became un-rechargable. My old Canon, new in June 2003, still has a functional battery with much heavier use and years on the odometer.
I should have stuck with Canon. Cute only counts with kittens.
Best digital camera I've had, by far.......2007-09-07
I got this camera last Spring. I was tired of my Samsung with the unintelligible manual and goofy, non-user-friendly settings. Amazon had the Finepix on sale for $139! I was attracted by the thin size and large display, and of course the "try-me" price. When it arrived, the only thing I was disappointed by was the lack of a carrying case.
I've had 4 cameras, and each of them had major drawbacks - mainly in user-friendly settings. I am not an ignoramus, but I have no time to study a poorly-written manual and try to figure out multiple tiny buttons placed all over a camera. I am a casual picture-taker, like most people. So I would end up putting the cameras on one setting and never touching it again. (Can't be bothered to futz.)
I love this camera. I love the large display which is also the viewfinder. A friend warned me that when outdoors in the sun, this would be a drawback. It is, since you can't see the display in the sun's glare. But I haven't found it to be terrible. You can still point the camera in the right direction and click! Haven't taken a bad picture yet doing that.
I haven't had a bad picture in any light or circumstance so far. The Finepix is very forgiving of shaky hands. I don't know technically how they do that, but I'm certainly grateful.
I take food pictures for cooking blogging, and with the easier-to-figure-out settings, I now know how to take better close-up pictures. It only took 10 years and 4 cameras!
I would highly recommend the Finepix for any casual point-and-click photographer. Hands down it is the best quality camera and takes the best-quality pix for the price. (I've never had a high-end camera, so I can't compare for you there.)
nice camera.......2007-09-06
Really like the big viewing screen, can hardly look at a regular size screen on other cameras now. Menu easy to figure out, prefer the rechargable camera as opposed to the other battery operated. Camera small, easy to bring everywhere-orange color is very stylish
VERY GOOD.......2007-08-27
IMAGE QUALITY ON THIS CAMERA IS VERY GOOD. LOW LIGHT SHOTS ARE THE BEST I HAVE SEEN WHEN COMPARED WITH OTHER CAMERAS FOR THE PRICE. PAID 150.00 FROM AMAZON.
ideal Camera.......2007-08-10
It is a super chamber(camera) photos of good quality, records, lighting in areas dark and a great screen lcd

On our 3rd camera already.......2007-09-12
In January my daughter bought this camera after we read the reviews and decided on what features she wanted. However within 5 months the camera stopped functioning. We sent it to the Fuji Repair center and was told it would be fixed or replaced within 2 weeks. It took six weeks to receive a replacement. Five weeks after getting this replacement the exact same thing went wrong - the camera starts up, the lcd panel goes blank, the lens won't retract and the only way to turn it off is to remove the battery. Nothing can be done but to send it in for repairs again. My daughter is hoping it won't take another 6 weeks to get it replaced (again). NOT RELIABLE!
Awesome camera.......2007-05-15
I love Olympus digital cameras! I've bought several for home and school and they always take wonderful photos on even the cheapest model.
I was going to buy a new little Olympus, and my son talked me into considering this little Fujifilm Finepix instead. I have to say that this is the most awesome camera I have seen for around $200. It has many special settings--but a day with the owner's manual and a little experimentation has allowed me to try some of these out and it really adds alot of dimension to a point and shoot camera. I love the "flower" setting. It makes really great close ups--they almost look 3-D on the flower setting. The automatic setting is wonderful--great shots with point and shoot. But there are also low light settings, micro settings, short video with sound from a built in mic. I'm still experimenting with all the settings--but so far--great fun--and really wonderful resolution and color. I almost feel like I have some of the control back that I used to have with my 35 mm. This camera is very compact--I have to wear my glasses to see the menu items--but they are logical little symbols--which are easier to see than most. The buttons are large enough to press with no trouble. I think what I am most impressed with is the actual color--it is brighter and more intense than the Olympus I was going to buy.

Incredible Camera.......2007-05-13
I'm 16 years old and an aspiring photographer. Picking a camera was a difficult choice, but when I saw the reviews for this Fujifilm camera I had to risk it.
This camera takes amazing pictures. There are hardly any problems, and it's great for any occasion. It's small and durable, which makes it easy to carry around.
Pros: Hardly a shutter lag, large LCD screen, clear LCD display, quick review/delete, easy mode settings, buttons are easy to press, long battery life, and incredibly clear pictures
Cons: Moving subjects are a little hard to capture, red light indoors
I love practically everything about this camera. It's cute, small, and takes perfect pictures. That's really all you can hope for with a point-and-shoot. If you are looking for a great camera for less than $200, this is definitely the one.
Great, low priced camers.......2007-04-13
We bought these cameras (2 of them) for our school. They're small, easy to use, and make great photos. The screen is nice and big. The photos are easy to download. The battery charger is very easy to use- just pop the battery out of the camera and into the charger for about 90 minutes. The FinePix software is great. Overall, these cameras are perfect for our school!
Fuji is a good buy for your buck.......2007-04-11
I have enjoyed Fuji cameras for years and love the quality of the pictures. I wanted a little camera that I could keep in my purse for whatever shots I came upon. This serves my purpose to a T. I can easily fit it into my pocket too. It was easy to learn how to use. If you want to do more things manually you can easily do that as well. But most people that want to only pay this small amount of money mostly want to point and click and then get a good picture. This will not let them down. As with other reviews, you do have to watch the shaking issue - so keep elbows in while taking a picture or set it on something solid like a car or a table if you can't get the hang of keeping your elbows touching your body while snapping. The other thing was no viewer so you do have to use the big screen while taking a picture, easy for someone like me that needs reading glasses nowadays!!!

CAMERA DEFECTIVE.......2007-05-30
Digital cam is defective sir, when we try to power it on even there is a memory.
We try also to plug it on direct to a 3V DC adapter still has no power.
A 4.2 that is lacking.......2007-05-21
I bought this camera for my wife, so she'd leave mine alone. I must admit, I didn't do my homework on this one. While for her, it's a great little camera that fits nicely in her purse and she carries it everywhere, the camera does well in high light situations but in low light levels, it is severely lacking. I don't have the availability of a flash meter to measure it's output, but the tiny built-in flash puts out a tiny burst that isn't very effective at more that 3-4 feet before it falls off sharply, and there is no hot shoe or off flash option available. The implied 4.1 MP resolution should be producing crisp lines, etc. but it's been very disappointing so far. I have seen better quality prints from plastic disposable cameras available in the kiosks at tourist attractions. The other bad news is that it takes the XD memory card instead of the SD or one of the other popular cards and sticks. I've found them rather difficult to find. All in all, I would tell anyone who asked me about it to look somewhere else.
great thing to have in your bag at all times.......2007-05-08
The only reason I'm giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 is my previous camera being a 'pro' one with a load of functions, options, etc. etc.
There really isn't anything I -dislike- about this camera, though. I like the fact that it operates from AA batteries, since it spares me the hassle of looking for electricity output converters, should I ever decide to travel with it. It has an inbuilt storage of nearly 20MB -- not much, but it proved to be quite handy many a time. The picture quality is good; there's even a selection of manual shooting mode, which was a surprise.
My only complain (if I can even call it this way) is the power button. It's not as sensitive as I'd like it to be. But then again, it doesn't randomly switch on when being in my bag. :)
GOOD BEGINNER CAMERA TO ACQUAINT YOU WITH DIGITAL.......2007-05-06
THIS IS AN EXCELLENT LOW PRICED CAMERA TO HAVE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES FOR SHOTS THAT YOU OTHERWISE WOULD MISS BY NOT HAVING YOUR LARGER MORE EXPENSIVE CAMERAWITH YOU.
ONLY PROBLEM FOUND IS SMALL VIEWING SCREEN BUT THEN MY EYES ARE 77 YEARS OLD AND NOT AS SHARP AS USED TO BE.GOOD CAMERA FOR PRICE.
good camera for a beginner.......2007-03-25
Very fast delivery on my new digital camera I got for my birthday. Here in two days. Happy with that. About my only complaint was the fact that it doesn't have a removeable card to go get photos printed, but I probably didn't read the description thoroughly, so my bad. But its a nice little camera for beginners. I'm not real technical, but its been easy to use and the photos are easy to load into the computer. It does eat batteries fairly fast, so I have finally invested in some rechargeable ones. The quality of the pictures is very, very good for an inexpensive camera and definitely better than all those thowaway cameras I've been using since my SLR broke 5 years ago. In all, I am happy. Thanks.

Customer Reviews:
great camera- super easy to use.......2007-09-01
I've had several digital cameras in the last 10 years and this is my favorite by far. Very very easy to use, great small size and takes excellent pictures. I lost this one and decided to replace it with the exact same camera!
perfect point and shoot camera.......2007-05-30
I would classify myself as a good critic of digital cameras. I've had this camera for over 2 years and i love it. It takes good quality pictures. There are some downsides to it though. It doesn't take quality pictures at night if your a certain distance away and sometimes it takes blurry pictures in darker places as well. The sound doesn't work on my camera but its probably becuase I have dropped it a couple times and thats never good for any camera. The battery life is okay but my friends have other cameras and their batteries usually last twice as long as mine does. I recommend getting a back up.
Great Camera, Bad Company.......2007-03-26
Here's the Good News:
I have had many cameras in my life, digital and film , and I have found the Z1 to be my favorite. The camera is very user friendly and the pictures are sharp with great color. My previous camera was a Minolta Dimage 7($800) and I found that this camera's photo quality was just as good. The best feature of the camera is the fact that it is sturdy and compact enough to carry with you daily. Owning this camera made taking pictures a daily part of my life.
Here's the Bad News:
Recently my camera broke and when I tried to contact Fuji to get a replacement or a repair, the service was terrible. Their website is very difficult to navigate and offers very little support.
Summary:
Great camera as long as it doesn't break. It's easier to pay someone to fix it than actually get Fuji to repair it.
Exactly what it's suppose to be........2007-01-04
This camera is exactly what it's suppose to be: convenient, reliable, compact, user friendly and above all else, it takes good pictures. If you want a camera that takes great pictures, you'll need to buy something a little more expensive, and quite a bit larger. I bought and returned several cameras in this class before realizing that no camera this size, and in the sub $200 price range will perform the way my SLR does. That said, if you don't mind playing with the Exposure compensation and ISO settings, you can take some pretty great pictures even in low light.
I learned a long time ago that the worst camera is the one you don't have with you when a great shot presents itself. With the Z1 you'll never have that excuse. Even in a case it fits nicely in my front pocket without protruding too noticably.
The only issues I have are that it doesn't have a continuous shutter mode, and the dock is required for charging and downloading images. That said, I'm still giving it 5 stars because as I said, it's exactly what it's suppose to be.
Don't Buy...FujiFilm Support is a Joke...It's The Worst !!!!!!!.......2006-08-22
I bought the camera in May of 2006, as a graduation gift for my son. He loved the style and compactness.
He experienced focus/zoom problems after 1 use. Unfortunately he didn't start to use the gift for 2 months or I might have been able to return to Amazon for a refund. Contacting Fufifilm has been overly cumbersome. Their website is not straightforware and their voice response system is not user friendly or responsive (LONG WAITS). They have had the toy camera (AS THIS IS BEING WRITTEN)for over a week and when I called yesterday for status, they told me that the camera "hasn't been diagnosed yet". I expect it will be, once their 90 day warranty expires, which will limit Fujifilm's liability to the 1 repair. I have a mean case of buyer's remorse. I might as well have taken the ~$235.00 spent on this camera and tossed it in the street.
If you own one and it doesn't require repairs, you might like it. If it ever requires repairs, you might feel as I that you would have been better to purchase a disposable digital camera. Save yourself the potential aggravation and look to a camera that has a longer warranty, a better support environment or by all means purchase the extended warranty. You may still face the frustrations but will have the consolation of knowing that it will cost you no more then shipping to have it repaired. I bought it in May of 2006....I feel like I lost it in July of 2006.
IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN THE Z1 LESS THEN 1 STAR, I WOULD HAVE. THAT'S WHAT IT DESERVES! !&%$$##444EN FUJIFILM
