It seems like a standard playstation controller, other than the analogs right? WRONG! The dpad is real mushy and not too precise. The buttons are quite good though. If you are purchasing this for fighting games, you are making a huge mistake. The dpad broke after less than 2 weeks! If you got a PSX or PS2 controller, get a PS to PC converter, it's much better and cheaper.

If you are looking for something to play all of your SNES roms with, this is the controller, no question. I've been using it for a few weeks to play stuff like Chrono Trigger, or Yoshi's Island, and it feels and plays flawlessly. Highly Recommended.

This controller is awesome! It solved all my problems with trying to fumble around on emulator games using my keypad. For $10, the price is right. If you are looking to play games on gametap or other emulator software, this is the perfect controller.

this controller is awesome...i've had one for years, wore it out and had to buy another one, even though i went ahead and purchased 3 more...this controller works with just about every game out there except the EA Sports MVP Baseball series games...i have a Saitek P880 Dual Analog controller for them...anyway, for the price of $10, this is a GREAT controller to have...i highly reccomend it

Cheap Perfection!.......2007-08-08

First of all, at 10 dollars, how could you not? I'm just taking a stab at this by saying that most people will be using this for Emulation software. Am I right? Well, I am using SNES9X, this works PERFECT, i got it mapped exactly like a SNES controller would, and having buttons 7 and 8 mapped to "Save game, and Load game". Perfect setup, perfect controller, perfect price!

Its very, very sleek, and really comfertable to hold.. dare i say, but it SLIGHTLY (lol) resembles the PS controller.. only slightly.

My only complaint, im not the biggest fan of the color, but thats not worth lowering the review to 4/5.. i mean its still a perfect controller!

If only.........2007-09-26

If only other products worked half as well as every single Logitch product I've purchased, there would be some lonesome customer sevice reps.
The unit I recently purchased is to eventually replace the same one I've had for almost 5 years.
Now, I've never thrown it agianst a wall in a fit of anger, or dropped from more than 2 feet...but I have dropped it a lot of times. The range is unbelievable, it goes through walls. The durability has surpassed ALL expectations. This thing just works correctly, every time.

I ordered two wireless rumblepads for my macbook. I was worried when I saw that the package only listed instructions for PC, but on my macbook, they were plug & play. No installation needed. These work very well. I was skeptical about the performance of the wireless aspect of these controllers, but the buttons have worked 100% of the time and the response time is impeccable. The only problem that I've had is when using both of them simultaneously, the controllers have actually switched in the middle of gameplay (player one became player 2, and vice versa). This has only happened once, and I use the controllers frequently. Since now I make sure that each controller is sync-ed to the appropriate sensor before running any games. Overall the best gamepad out there.

Well, I must admit I almost never right reviews but after configuring this Logitech Gamepad, I couldn't be happier. Most of the other positive reviews cover the overall basics: good build, easy to clean, durable (although I have found the 1 key to stick at time), 10 ft range, ps2 controller feel, plenty of button positions to program (28 if you count both the analog directional pad and 4 positions per joystick).

I had a bit of a problem with the fact that I initially found this gamepad surprisingly difficult to use with a few fairly recent FPS games (Far Cry, Battlefield series; GTA vice city worked straight away and even had a default configuration), not by the fault of Logitech but rather because these games lack joypad support (this is because these games generally require the use of the keyboard keys for movement while using the mouse to control view and aiming). However, after snooping around the internet I found a great program called ControlMK. It basically allows you to program every single key on the gamepad with any key or movement normally performed with a keyboard or mouse. This means I was able to program one joystick with movement via keyboard keys (W,S,A,D) and the other joystick with mouse axis controls (pos/neg x/y) allowing it to function with the view ability (while obviously using a mouse/keyboard for most games is more accurate, it's easy to get good with this setup and a few tweeks of threshold and gain settings)! Not only was this a great solution to playing ANY game regardless of joypad support, it also allows me to use my joypad for regular operating system controls (mouse movement and clicks, media controls, directional keys, etc)! Coupled with the exceptionally long range provided by the wireless, I lay back in bed with my Dell XPS laptop running Windows Vista Business connected to a 50 inch plasma tv and play video games while sometimes breaking to check email or stock quote updates without moving a muscle! Also means I don't have to worry about taking my wireless mouse/keyboard combo with me on a trip if I want to play or just watch movies on the widescreen display at a distance while having control of volume, start/stop, track skipping and mouse functions at my finger tips.

All in all, if you want to have a great value solution for mobile gaming, I've never used one more versatile than this. Coupled with ControlMK, it should work with just about any game and you can also use this as a programmable remote control for your pc. The wireless range is exceptional and the feel is exactly what you'd expect. I've had other great Logitech products and I'm glad to see a veteran hardware company like this contiue to release new innovative products. A++!

Edit:
Forgot to mention that Windows Vista actually comes with an onscreen keyboard in the accessories section. With this you can even "type" by using the controller to mouse over any onscreen keyboard letters and clicking.

"Compatible" doesn't mean "supported" on Mac OS X.......2007-08-30

No Mac OS X software is supplied or available from Logitech. When Logitech says it's "compatible" with Mac OS X, they mean that it's *possible* for individual games to support it -- but it's up to the game publisher. They don't mean that any particular game supports it or that they'll do anything to help. So the chance that this will work with games you've got is near zero.

I have found this product to be everything it is supposed to be. The balance is good, the reaction time is quick, The wireless controller can be operated from across the room. I have not had any button problems as far as sticking or not responding. Some people may not like the little green light flashing all the time but I find this as a sign that it is working. I still haven't had to replace the batteries so battery life is as avertised. In my purchases I have not had a bad Logitech product. I hope it stays that way.

This is a great game pad, exactly what I was expecting, and rather unexpensive. I had no problem with the drivers. They work great on Vista too. I wanted it for Madden NFL, but it can be used for all sorts of games. I like best that it can be programmed.

I dont know why there are so many complaints about this control pad.

It works perfectly for me, the calibrations are excellent. Some older games that did not support these kind of pads may not work, but thats that game not having a plug in for or driver to recognize it and they will only pick up prehistoric joysticks anyway that did not plug in via a USB.

I would not use any other game pad, this one works perfectly. It is not just another PS controller looking clone. The analogs work, and it even has the buttons on the analog sticks when you click it in.

The only thing that could improve this game pad would be switches for auto fire.

I haven't had the controller as long as everyone else here, so I can't say that my analog sticks are broken yet (though I assume it won't be too long). I've already noticed one fundamental flaw though, and it appears from looking at pictures that this applies to almost all of their gamepads: The square movement area of the analog sticks.

Now, you don't have to be good at geometry to know that the distance from the center of a square to one of its sides is less than the distance to its corner. So, why did Logitech implement this crappy design then? Be warned; you cannot play games with 3-D movement with this controller.

In games where the speed of movement relates to how much you're pushing in a certain direction (if you're slightly pushing to the left, you move a little left, and if you're pushing hard, you'll move faster), gameplay is impossible. Due to this design, you will move much slower going forward then diagonally. Though this doesn't sound too bad, it basically makes it so that you CANNOT move maximum speed in one of those four directions (up, down, right left). It'll work well (until it breaks) with games where you only need to detect "up", and not the magnitude of it. But for games with 3-D movement, gameplay is frustrating. If you need a gamepad for that, don't buy a Logitech controller.

The best PC controller.......2007-09-15

Got a few of these to play roms on some computers I rebuilt. The vibrations dont work on older roms but they work with some other games and some project 64 titles. The only complaint i do have is that with GTA3 that you cant control your character in 360 degree fashion but only in 12 directions. This makes it harder for driving and aiming and i dont play the game enough to know if there is a way to fix it. Oh yeah- did i say this is a great controller.

an ALMOST perfect gamepad.........2007-08-24

The logitech rumblepad 2 + cordless rumblepad are probly the best pc gamepads on the market - they have many great features and are similar in configuration to a PS2 controller - EXCEPT theres one major flaw i noticed - the joysticks do not stay perfectly centered. This gets annoying when playing a game that needs perfect sensitivity lke a driving game or flying game. For example, in Need For Speed, there is no deadzone adjustment for the joysticks so your car goes off the road. This gets annoying but the software provided can fix that except you need to make a game profile and do all this other stuff to run the game with it. I DO NOT recommend the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad - buy this one or the cordless if you really need it...this is probly the best pc controller out there so besides its flaws, this is one controller worth getting.

Best pad for the MAC. The cheaper Logitech Precision is fine, but this works best for the newer games. I had trouble using the Precision with Star Wars Lego II, and emailed the company that made the game, and they told me that they tested the game with the Rumblepad. I bought two, and man they're totally perfect.

This pad works very well. Great price. After a while the plastic DOES rip but that's because my brother and I have been using it as a work-out device. Nothing a nice piece of tape can't fix. The up-arrow key tends to "press" on its own, however it does not interfere with the game play because when you step on it it still records it.

Being able to do Dance Dance Revolution at home is a wonderful thing! A video game that physically involves kids and is *also* fun to do? It's about time!!!

My only gripe is that the games for it are rather pricey for the amount of effort that (apparently) goes into their creation. I can't believe there isn't more competition in this area. I'd like to see some other games that use the pad for input besides DDR - perhaps they will be available someday. It would be nice if the pad came with at least ONE DDR2 game...

The pad itself is fairly rugged, though certainly not 'industrial strength' - don't even consider jumping on it with shoes on! It does fold up fairly small for storage, which is nice for a small living room. Overall, a reasonable buy - well worth it to get the kids up off the couch!

Great for the price and newbies..........2006-12-28

My daughter got DDRmax2 for Christmas and this pad. We use the pad on a marble floor and have had no slippage whatsoever (without the use of the sticky discs that come with it). I am sure it is designed for newbies, but that's all I was expecting of it. We wanted to make sure that our daughter liked this kind of game before we invested a lot of money in it and I think that's really what it's designed for. If you are a heavy user, then this pad is not for you.

this pad is definatly only for beginners I have been playing heavy and challenge for awhile now. This is the pad i started with and in beginning and light it was fine no sign of breaking but after i started playing standard it was nearly impossible ot do well. a pad i recomend is the RedOctane 3.0 ddr pad which has a think material which alows it not to move at all it ranged from 70-120 dollars

Horrible Dance Pad.......2006-12-03

I have used many dance pads for many different DDR games. This has to be the worst BY FAR. When stepping on the pad, it sounds like a diaper. Sure the pad has a no slip bottom, but its the top part of the pad you have to worry about. When getting into the faster/harder songs, the top part of the pad will slide on the middle part of the pad, creating a very dangerous circumstance. Eventually the pad will ball up underneath your feet.

For light users: 2 stars. The sound it makes when stepping on the pad is unpleasent, but is still useable.

For standard useres: 0 stars. Some songs may require you to make fast motions. The pad will slide on itself. Do not use.

For heavy users: 0 stars. Very dangerous. Good for lawsuits.

I think the descriptions and images of the Beat Pad Pro and Beat Pad got switched. So the description of the Beat Pad was not correct. The pad does not have padding and is flat (unlike the pictured) Hopefully people don't buy this and think they will get the better features.

Average thin dance pad.......2007-03-14

A few things about this item bothered me. It is listed as with "thick padding". The photograph of the product looks like a foam pad. I thought I was getting a foam-pad, but I did not.

The product you receive is obviously not what is shown in the photograph (the pad art is different, and the dance-pad in the photograph has contours of a foam-pad, which this does not). The arrows are not elevated, as shown in the photograph.

Instead, we have just an average non-foam dance pad. If you want a foam pad, you have to pay $30 extra for the "Beat Pad Pro" - it is sold for $70. If you spend any amount of time playing this game, you'll want a foam pad (where you can feel the arrows with your feet when you play).

Two other minor negatives: First, the pad slips more than the Konami pad which comes with the game. This was a problem even on the average "difficult" setting. Second, the arrow sensor size was smaller than what I expected. You have to touch part of the graphical arrow - if you miss by 1/4 inch, it won't set it off.

Disappointing but adequate.......2007-08-24

I ordered 2 of these via Amazon from J&R, they came quickly in factory new condition but one of them was completely DOA. J&R customer service is great and they paid for return shipping and a full refund of the dead one (but they are out of stock so couldn't replace it).

Some of the lowlights of the unit:
- There are NO raised arrows on the ones they are shipping now
- After dancing on it for a while the surface gets wrinkled and if one of the wrinkles intersects the 'A' pad the game (DDR360 universe) appears to randomly select songs
- You have to stop every 10-15 minutes and straighten out the foam pads, the center one (which you stand on most of the time) ends up getting pushed down and disengaging from the other ones. This may be a side effect of using it on a padded carpet rather than a hard floor.
- Looking closely at the unit (since one of them was DOA) its fairly cheaply put together and 'sloppy'. I was hoping for something a little more solid for twice the price of the lower model.

Highlights:
- The size is just right
- The pads are sensitive but not overly so, in several hours of use we have not found that we mean to hit a pad and it doesn't fire; aside from the 'wrinkle' problem above they don't fire unexpectedly
- On padded carpet the whole unit doesn't move around move, its a solid platform and very comfortable

Overall I think we'll learn to deal with the foibles listed above and will end up using this happily enough. I hope the apparent low quality construction is just an illusion and they will take a pounding over time.

Much better game play.......2007-07-26

I got DDR Universe for my wife as a gift and have become quite a fan of the game myself. The Beat Pad Pro is definitely much easier to play on than the Konami mat that came bundeled with the game. As long as you aren't wearing shoes, you can feel where the arrows are with your feet, so you don't have to take your eyes off the screen to get yourself realigned with the mat. The foam insert makes jumping much easier on the ankels and knees. The mat does tend to move around during play, but I don't think it's any worse than the bundeled mat. I woudn't know whether the game play more closely resembles that of the arcade game, since I never really seriously played the arcade. However, I do know that I tend to get higher scores on the Beat pad Pro versus the bundeled Konami mat...I can even beat my wife sometimes!

Very bad peripheral. Does not register hits accurately. Pad slides around alot during play. Internal pad does more harm than good as the pieces do not interlock tightly.

I was worry about buying a pad cos i had read some reviews about other pad that have problems on recognizing the step, etc etc.

WITH THIS PAD, THIS IS NOT THE CASE. i have been playing hard with the pad for like 1 week and still works great.

The feel and the sensitivity is great. AT ALL, IT SURPASS MY SPECTETATIONS.

Great second pad.......2007-06-09

My kids get a real kick out of Dance Dance Revolution and having a second pad makes for fun competition. The Beat Pad Pro is a nice upgrade from the pad that ships with the game, my kids unpacked it and set it up without any help from me. There is a foam insert that assembles like a giant jigsaw puzzle and then zips inside the pad, makes for a much more comfortable experience.

5 stars for a good job porting DDR to the Xbox 360 and 5 stars for a reasonably priced second pad with a nice thick foam comfort pad.

Because I'm left hand, I always have problems to set-up the keyboard keys. This gamepad solved the problem with a fair price and this is the second I purchased to play with my son.

I love this product. It does everything it claims it does, and does them very well. It is also designed for both right and left handed people, so my friend can use it when he comes over. The layout is nice, having almost all of the keys in reach without moving my hand. The media buttons are also nice to use. The only downside to this product is that you have to program the game to the gamepad, and not the gamepad to the game.

Gift to the gamer in my life and you'd think I'd invented intravenous caffeine! Lots of options, easy to personalize and program, super fast interface and set-up, mostly comfy hand position- just the pad you're looking for to replace your Belkin. *smallish hands might not like it as well* :-)

This Gamepad is very easy to format for your favorite games. It's handy and much easier to use than a keyboard. The price is very reasonable as well. Once you install it (simply insert cable into a USB port), you will be up and running in minutes. You will never want to go back to a keyboard after trying this. Your scores and your gaming enjoyment will both increase with this gamepad.

Best D-pad ever!.......2007-06-08

I have played games using a lot of different controllers on various systems and must confess, that this six button sega pad takes the cake in terms of comfort. All six buttons are pretty standard, but it's the D-pad that shines here. If you've ever played any one game for too long, and found that your standard D-pad was wearing out your thumb, please... buy this controller. you won't regret it...

I had purchased this controller becuase I already owned one of this model and desired an equally professional controller for multiplayer. It was exactly what the picture represented and functions beautifully. This particular model is great because it does away with many of the design flaws of previous controllers. Besides the obvious leap to six button freedom, the buttons themselves are masterfully crafted. The directional button has just enough spring to let you know which direction it's neutral central position is in, a quality that was embarassingly lacking in previous incarnations. The small X, Y, and Z buttons were a great idea and are surprisingly easy and natural to wield. While the A, B, and C buttons below them may be a bit larger and a smidge less perfect, they still manage to put every button on the other genesis controllers I own to shame. The tilt of the six action buttons is hardly noticeable, while you'll certainly notice a lack thereof if you switch back to a regular controller. This model comes with Turbo and Slow functions as well, though you will rarely use them. These functions are considered by many to be overrated, but the option is there, and luckily it does not detract from the functionality in any way. All in all it's a very solid controller and I'm very impressed with it, Since I began using this model I haven't looked back once, and that's the truth. I know this review sounds a bit too good to be true, but it really is an impressive controller and I encourage any genesis owners to invest in one or more.

It's a great condition, vintage system control pad. I had my original for 14 years and this makes a fine replacement. Great vendor, fine hard-to-find product!

I bought this product to use with World of Warcraft. It has worked perfectly for me. I can't imagine playing without it now. It really improves the game experience.

Who needs a keyboard?.......2007-08-17

I have two keyboards that i use on a regular basis. I am not what you would call a "hardcore gamer". But, i do play my share of PC games. I used this product for mostly strategy games and i have to say that i am very pleased with the results. With the combination of my Razor Death Adder mouse and the Pro Gamer Command, i have not used my keyboard since. I have not tested this product out on FPS games(i play those on the consoles), but since i mostly buy strategy games for the PC, this works for me.

No Vista support on shipped disk.......2007-08-09

I am not a novice and I am sure I will eventually find the right download if it exists and figure out a way to install the drivers. However - this is not a product for anyone who is a novice or casual user or who just wants what they buy to work. I certainly did not buy into several hours of installation and setup when I bought this. Again, it does not support Vista out of the box. You must go to the website and find the driver -and guess what it wants a FTP user name and password to download their drivers (which by the way are still proclaimed as beta Vista drivers -go figure it is only 8 months post launch). Since the username and password is not found anywhere - be peprepared to send emails to support to get them to give you one so you can download it. Run it and it is not recognized, not authorized, not signed. This is not a overly burdensome series of warnings and errors to get through - but it is also not too much of a problem for these guys to get Vista certified if they would bother. Once the installation is complete you will get an error that the drivers did not install porperly - you ignore this also. Now there is no directory or icon on the destop with the programming software so prepare to figure that out - another set of downloads. I think you get the picture. It may be a fine gaming pad - but so far after several hours I still haven't been able to use it. I regret the purchase and having bought Saitek in the past - I guess I should have known they really don't provide decent support for their products.

Great, but fragile.......2007-07-22

I had this item and it worked great until it broke. The problem is the thumbpad (its not a pad, it's like a mini joystick) on the side. I used this to move around (like AWSD keys) in WoW and the keys for skills. It worked nicely except the thumbpad thing breaks very easily. I sent it back to saitek with an RMA but they never sent me a new one back and I didn't even try to pursue it because I was just so disheartened with it. It does look great though!

Bottom line is, if you're going to use the side thumbstick to move around, don't get this one. If you use the keys on top to move around then it should be no problem.

The Nostromo thumbpad is an actual pad and so can take a huge beating. It's lasted me through everything. It's built like a tank.
