It seems like a standard playstation controller, other than the analogs right? WRONG! The dpad is real mushy and not too precise. The buttons are quite good though. If you are purchasing this for fighting games, you are making a huge mistake. The dpad broke after less than 2 weeks! If you got a PSX or PS2 controller, get a PS to PC converter, it's much better and cheaper.

If you are looking for something to play all of your SNES roms with, this is the controller, no question. I've been using it for a few weeks to play stuff like Chrono Trigger, or Yoshi's Island, and it feels and plays flawlessly. Highly Recommended.

this controller is awesome...i've had one for years, wore it out and had to buy another one, even though i went ahead and purchased 3 more...this controller works with just about every game out there except the EA Sports MVP Baseball series games...i have a Saitek P880 Dual Analog controller for them...anyway, for the price of $10, this is a GREAT controller to have...i highly reccomend it

Cheap Perfection!.......2007-08-08

First of all, at 10 dollars, how could you not? I'm just taking a stab at this by saying that most people will be using this for Emulation software. Am I right? Well, I am using SNES9X, this works PERFECT, i got it mapped exactly like a SNES controller would, and having buttons 7 and 8 mapped to "Save game, and Load game". Perfect setup, perfect controller, perfect price!

Its very, very sleek, and really comfertable to hold.. dare i say, but it SLIGHTLY (lol) resembles the PS controller.. only slightly.

My only complaint, im not the biggest fan of the color, but thats not worth lowering the review to 4/5.. i mean its still a perfect controller!

If only.........2007-09-26

If only other products worked half as well as every single Logitch product I've purchased, there would be some lonesome customer sevice reps.
The unit I recently purchased is to eventually replace the same one I've had for almost 5 years.
Now, I've never thrown it agianst a wall in a fit of anger, or dropped from more than 2 feet...but I have dropped it a lot of times. The range is unbelievable, it goes through walls. The durability has surpassed ALL expectations. This thing just works correctly, every time.

I ordered two wireless rumblepads for my macbook. I was worried when I saw that the package only listed instructions for PC, but on my macbook, they were plug & play. No installation needed. These work very well. I was skeptical about the performance of the wireless aspect of these controllers, but the buttons have worked 100% of the time and the response time is impeccable. The only problem that I've had is when using both of them simultaneously, the controllers have actually switched in the middle of gameplay (player one became player 2, and vice versa). This has only happened once, and I use the controllers frequently. Since now I make sure that each controller is sync-ed to the appropriate sensor before running any games. Overall the best gamepad out there.

Well, I must admit I almost never right reviews but after configuring this Logitech Gamepad, I couldn't be happier. Most of the other positive reviews cover the overall basics: good build, easy to clean, durable (although I have found the 1 key to stick at time), 10 ft range, ps2 controller feel, plenty of button positions to program (28 if you count both the analog directional pad and 4 positions per joystick).

I had a bit of a problem with the fact that I initially found this gamepad surprisingly difficult to use with a few fairly recent FPS games (Far Cry, Battlefield series; GTA vice city worked straight away and even had a default configuration), not by the fault of Logitech but rather because these games lack joypad support (this is because these games generally require the use of the keyboard keys for movement while using the mouse to control view and aiming). However, after snooping around the internet I found a great program called ControlMK. It basically allows you to program every single key on the gamepad with any key or movement normally performed with a keyboard or mouse. This means I was able to program one joystick with movement via keyboard keys (W,S,A,D) and the other joystick with mouse axis controls (pos/neg x/y) allowing it to function with the view ability (while obviously using a mouse/keyboard for most games is more accurate, it's easy to get good with this setup and a few tweeks of threshold and gain settings)! Not only was this a great solution to playing ANY game regardless of joypad support, it also allows me to use my joypad for regular operating system controls (mouse movement and clicks, media controls, directional keys, etc)! Coupled with the exceptionally long range provided by the wireless, I lay back in bed with my Dell XPS laptop running Windows Vista Business connected to a 50 inch plasma tv and play video games while sometimes breaking to check email or stock quote updates without moving a muscle! Also means I don't have to worry about taking my wireless mouse/keyboard combo with me on a trip if I want to play or just watch movies on the widescreen display at a distance while having control of volume, start/stop, track skipping and mouse functions at my finger tips.

All in all, if you want to have a great value solution for mobile gaming, I've never used one more versatile than this. Coupled with ControlMK, it should work with just about any game and you can also use this as a programmable remote control for your pc. The wireless range is exceptional and the feel is exactly what you'd expect. I've had other great Logitech products and I'm glad to see a veteran hardware company like this contiue to release new innovative products. A++!

Edit:
Forgot to mention that Windows Vista actually comes with an onscreen keyboard in the accessories section. With this you can even "type" by using the controller to mouse over any onscreen keyboard letters and clicking.

No Mac OS X software is supplied or available from Logitech. When Logitech says it's "compatible" with Mac OS X, they mean that it's *possible* for individual games to support it -- but it's up to the game publisher. They don't mean that any particular game supports it or that they'll do anything to help. So the chance that this will work with games you've got is near zero.

I have found this product to be everything it is supposed to be. The balance is good, the reaction time is quick, The wireless controller can be operated from across the room. I have not had any button problems as far as sticking or not responding. Some people may not like the little green light flashing all the time but I find this as a sign that it is working. I still haven't had to replace the batteries so battery life is as avertised. In my purchases I have not had a bad Logitech product. I hope it stays that way.

first off, I use windows XP. My wife's desktop came with vista and I cant see anything worth upgrading for. Therefore i have no idea how this works for vista, just with xp.

I got this around july 2006 to use with World of Warcraft. i set it up and installed it right away. I already knew which buttons i used the most for my warlock and custom programmed it, even adding a couple macro buttons (like ctrl-1 to send my pet after somenone) . im not a ASWD person, so i set the direction pad to move, the red button as escape. Everyone says how hard it is to push the button and how unresponsive it is; but i haven't had any issues with it at all yet.

After teaching my fingers where everything was, it quickly became second nature. I can't imagine playing w/o it! Between that and my mouse (yes, im a clicker *gasp*) the only time i touch my keyboard is to say something in chat. and if I'm using vent, i dont need the keyboard at all.

The only wear and tear after a year and half is that the paint numbering for the buttons is starting to fade. But thats ok for me, since I dont need to look at them, if i want to shadowbolt spam or throw out some curses, i know right where all my spells are. The buttons are still as responsive as the day it arrived.

DOES NOT WORK ON 64-BIT VISTA.......2007-08-30

If you don't have 64-bit Vista, this is absolutely a phenominal controller.

If you do, don't buy it. They say drivers are on the way, but they've been saying that since April. I'm not convinced.

Anyway, I don't mean to be negative or rude - I knew this wouldn't work with Vista 64-bit when I upgraded - I just thought anyone that didn't know should be warned.

First one was defective, Amazon sent me a replacement right away.
Second one came and I tested it out with several games. I then found it to be completely useless and annoying to use. I will stick with WASD keys with number and function keys in easy reach OR an analog game pad for other games. There are many free utilities out there for creating macros for button/key combos.... so even that is no big deal for Nostromo. It actually gets in the way because you still need to use your keyboard for other things.
I was hoping it would really help my game with World of Warcraft or be useful for Darkspace (another online game).

This is a great game pad, exactly what I was expecting, and rather unexpensive. I had no problem with the drivers. They work great on Vista too. I wanted it for Madden NFL, but it can be used for all sorts of games. I like best that it can be programmed.

I dont know why there are so many complaints about this control pad.

It works perfectly for me, the calibrations are excellent. Some older games that did not support these kind of pads may not work, but thats that game not having a plug in for or driver to recognize it and they will only pick up prehistoric joysticks anyway that did not plug in via a USB.

I would not use any other game pad, this one works perfectly. It is not just another PS controller looking clone. The analogs work, and it even has the buttons on the analog sticks when you click it in.

The only thing that could improve this game pad would be switches for auto fire.

I haven't had the controller as long as everyone else here, so I can't say that my analog sticks are broken yet (though I assume it won't be too long). I've already noticed one fundamental flaw though, and it appears from looking at pictures that this applies to almost all of their gamepads: The square movement area of the analog sticks.

Now, you don't have to be good at geometry to know that the distance from the center of a square to one of its sides is less than the distance to its corner. So, why did Logitech implement this crappy design then? Be warned; you cannot play games with 3-D movement with this controller.

In games where the speed of movement relates to how much you're pushing in a certain direction (if you're slightly pushing to the left, you move a little left, and if you're pushing hard, you'll move faster), gameplay is impossible. Due to this design, you will move much slower going forward then diagonally. Though this doesn't sound too bad, it basically makes it so that you CANNOT move maximum speed in one of those four directions (up, down, right left). It'll work well (until it breaks) with games where you only need to detect "up", and not the magnitude of it. But for games with 3-D movement, gameplay is frustrating. If you need a gamepad for that, don't buy a Logitech controller.

The best PC controller.......2007-09-15

Got a few of these to play roms on some computers I rebuilt. The vibrations dont work on older roms but they work with some other games and some project 64 titles. The only complaint i do have is that with GTA3 that you cant control your character in 360 degree fashion but only in 12 directions. This makes it harder for driving and aiming and i dont play the game enough to know if there is a way to fix it. Oh yeah- did i say this is a great controller.

an ALMOST perfect gamepad.........2007-08-24

The logitech rumblepad 2 + cordless rumblepad are probly the best pc gamepads on the market - they have many great features and are similar in configuration to a PS2 controller - EXCEPT theres one major flaw i noticed - the joysticks do not stay perfectly centered. This gets annoying when playing a game that needs perfect sensitivity lke a driving game or flying game. For example, in Need For Speed, there is no deadzone adjustment for the joysticks so your car goes off the road. This gets annoying but the software provided can fix that except you need to make a game profile and do all this other stuff to run the game with it. I DO NOT recommend the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad - buy this one or the cordless if you really need it...this is probly the best pc controller out there so besides its flaws, this is one controller worth getting.

Best pad for the MAC. The cheaper Logitech Precision is fine, but this works best for the newer games. I had trouble using the Precision with Star Wars Lego II, and emailed the company that made the game, and they told me that they tested the game with the Rumblepad. I bought two, and man they're totally perfect.

Very Impressed, but no NES.......2007-09-25

I was playing Super Mario emulated on my laptop a few months back when my wife (then fiancée) came in and exclaimed, "Super Mario! I want to play!" I needed a new controller and, needless to say, my wife needed one as well. I started looking around for something that'd do the job and last us a while. To my surprise, I found that the quality on game pads is lacking. For a while, the best reviewed game pad I could find was another Logitech and the left analog stick commonly had "floating" issues (the stick would cause you to drift down) after pretty light use. This is apparently pretty common for all Logitech controllers.

I then found this controller and felt like the fan was a bit of a joke, but since it is a bit more expensive and so clearly geared toward XBOX gamers, I felt like it aught to be at least a little more resilient and ready for someone who knows what a decent controller aught to feel like.

So, when I purchased two of these, my primary concerns were that the left analog stick would begin to float and that the airflow would be pointless and maybe a little annoying if it accidentally got turned on. After about 3 months of average use, the analog stick is fine and, very much to my surprise, I absolutely love the airflow on my palms. Over the summer I actually wished I could get a little more airflow out of it, but I expect that over the winter, the low setting will be just right.

The only disappointing thing I've found with the controller so far is this: In Mario 3 there's a particular level (one of my favorites, actually) in which you must fly while holding shell. To do this, you have to use what I call the B, A+ move which involves pressing and holding the B button with the tip of your thumb while repeatedly hitting the A button with the meat of your thumb. I have no problems doing this on a classic NES controller, my old (terrible) Saitek P150 and I've also done the same with the GameBoy where the buttons are angled the wrong way. I can't, however, do this on the ChillStream using the X and A buttons as B and A respectively. I have to change hand positions to use the tips of my index and middle finger to do it well enough to pass the level.

Works OK.......2007-09-25

It generally works, however you are stuck with the standard Windows drivers which are not re-mappable. I've been using it to play some gametap games and it has worked for all. Some keys can't be mapped in various windows games which is disappointing. The back "trigger" buttons are axis controls, so you can't use them as normal keys. Sometimes the keys act screwey in the some of the emulated Gametap keys B becomes A or A becomes B. It could be a Gametap problem though and is easily correctable. The two triggers can be depressed for more available keys.

The fan is actually quieter on high, mine kind of rattles on low so I just leave it on high. Being hot-blooded it doesn't keep my palms completely dry but its way better than my razor diamondback!

I'm giving this a 3/5, mostly due to the lame windows drivers they used and because they only included a 6ft cable. Also, the big Vista key can't be used for anything. I've read that you have to buy a "Game for Vista" to even be able to map it to a function, all the manual says is consult Vista/Game documentation. If I could map it to Gametap, I would be much happier with this product. If the XBOX360 controller was more competitively priced, I would have bought it instead. $65+$20 receiver for a rechargeable wireless XBOX360 controller? No thanks, this controller works just fine!

Decided on this controller instead of the original xbox 360 one because of the fan for cooling. Buttons and fan work great. Had this for over 2 months and still working perfect. Thumbs up to logitech for another amazing product.

I love this product. It does everything it claims it does, and does them very well. It is also designed for both right and left handed people, so my friend can use it when he comes over. The layout is nice, having almost all of the keys in reach without moving my hand. The media buttons are also nice to use. The only downside to this product is that you have to program the game to the gamepad, and not the gamepad to the game.

This Gamepad is very easy to format for your favorite games. It's handy and much easier to use than a keyboard. The price is very reasonable as well. Once you install it (simply insert cable into a USB port), you will be up and running in minutes. You will never want to go back to a keyboard after trying this. well i bought one because my current wireless was breaking. the first one i got, you had to press L2 extremely hard for it to register. i RMAed it and amazon promptly sent me another one. the second one didnt have such a serious issue as the first but a few buttons (namely top on the dpad, select button and triangle) had to be pressed harder then i would like for it to register. still deciding on whether to return the second for a refund

I don't know what was up with the buttons in the other reviews, but this controller is awesome--it has a nice, durable feel and all the buttons are in the right places. Programming the turbo is easy. GREAT! Have no fear when buying this!

Not good.......2007-02-03

I didn't order the controller online, however I ended up buying it for only $10.00 since it was on sale. I'm glad I didn't pay much for it. It lasted for only about 2 months of gameplay when the X button jammed. Since I have 6 other controllers I could use, I took off the back to this and found out that the pad for the right shape buttons was slightly cut, causing the button to jam while your furiously trying to skip scenes or using it to fight. Because of this minor issue, the controller didn't work and since most of the games relied on the X button, it was pretty much done for. During play it was fine till the button jammed, then it was pretty much useless, you can get better controllers than this and cheaper, believe me. So don't buy it and find something else.

Very good controller for the price........2007-01-20

I do not know why the other reviewer said the controller's buttons didn't work. Maybe he/she got a defective unit and should be able to return it for exchange. Anyway, mine works just fine. I got it for my son to encourage him to sit 5 feet away from the tv. It works out great. The controller has power-safe feature, it will power down to save the batteries power after 15 minutes of inactivities. It requires 4xAAA batteries but does not feel heavy at all. For the price, I would recommend it.

Much Better D-Pad.......2006-12-11

I don't have many complaints when it comes to my XBox 360, but the standard controller was one of the few exceptions. The X, Y, A, and B buttons were way too stiff. The shoulder buttons weren't as good as they should have been, and at one point one of them fell off from being used too much, and worst of all, the D-Pad was beyond horrible.

Well no more. The D-Pad on this controller is much more reliable. Especially for games that requires you to use the D-Pad often. For example, I play Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 often, and before the other controller's D-Pad would make me do moves that I didn't want to. This one, however, doesn't give me that problem.

The one downside is the microphone interference. Whenever your using your microphone over live, other players your talking to may here static and such. It's not horrible static, but I'm told it's there. Just be warned that if you're the type of gamer who plays online with other people alot and want crystal clear communication with other players, this controller may not be for you. Otherwise, buy this controller.

Buyers beware........2007-07-12

You cannot uninstall the drivers that come with this. They have no uninstall utility, so if you ever want them off of your computer, or if they messed up your computer (like they did mine), then you're out of luck.
I contacted saitek support about the issue, but got no response.

Nice Product but,.......2007-03-10

I would have given this 4.5 stars if that was an option. This is a very nice controller and was plug and play usable. Installed the software just to get the programmability. That's where the rating went down. Programming it is not that intuitive, but after you get the hang of it, it's okay. It seems for the most part any game I wanted to play with it I didn't need to make a profile for it and it just worked. I'd recommend this to anyone who would like to use it out of the box, the programming part of it has a steep learning curve but beyond that it's a great product from Saitek.

Great pad.......2007-01-05

I've been using this pad with a variety of games and I'm very impressed with its performance all around. It feels great and the rumble function works well in all of the games I've tried that support it. I have only a couple of minor complaints: the first is that I have to unplug the cable when playing certain games (e.g. Mage Knight Apocalypse) or strange things will happen (the camera goes nuts). This is apparently a bug with a number of Saitek peripherals, though, and not just the P2600. My second complaint has to do with the FPS button. It's placed just so that it is possible to bump it with a thumb in the throes of gaming, and when it is activated all of your controls are switched to FPS mode (i.e. they don't work anymore). This can be an issue of varying concern depending on what game you're playing. Granted, if you are able to run the configuration software you can disable the FPS mode switch and the button will function like an additional button, but as I'm running XP x64 I don't seem to be able to run the config software. Other than that, I love this gamepad a hell of a lot more than any of my console controllers... I'm contemplating plugging it in to my PS2's USB ports to see if it would even work right now.

I would NOT use this for FPS mode, but I grew up on the keyboard/mouse combo (except for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark) so using a controller seems sacreligious.
