2 out of 5 stars Chancy camera.......2006-07-12

I've had to stick with this camera for a LONG TIME. A couple years ago when it first came out my dad bought this as a gift for my mom, and she loved it. About a year later is just sat there collecting dust so I practically took it. What I found, like mentioned, is EVERYTHING on the camera is chancy. Sometimes it won't turn on, sometimes it freezes up, and heck..sometimes it'll turn on and take pictures on it's own! Also was only able to take about 3 pictures after FOUR BRAND NEW SPANKING batteries were placed in it. Sorry, but if any camera needs FOUR batteries it must be good, but this thing basically wastes the 5 bucks on batteries and gives you 3 worthless shots. ABSOLUTELY NOT A CAMERA FOR BEGINNERS. When anyone gets a new camera they want to test it out in different lightings, setting, etc., this one doesn't really have any settings and when you only get a few minutes you'd better shoot now and hope it comes out right! I had to take this on my trip to Florida, and I ended up spending about 40 bucks for a memory card for the sucker and super juiced up rechargeable camera batteries. This thing is so big and lunky, and crappy, that I could barely get any pictures! Taking it to the beach? Ha yeah right, probably wouldn't even last two seconds before my arm would hurt and i'd throw it in the ocean. I have to admit though, at times you CAN get excellent professional photos out of this thing, but i've only had it happen about 3 times, don't even ask me how I did it because all I did was point and shoot and it came out looking great. One last thing..it also breaks EASILY. All other cameras, and even flimsy phones etc. for that matter, can be dropped a hundred times and never break. This thing dropped ONCE and split in half, shooting my batteries to who knows where and almost breaking the week old memory card I just bought. My cousin had dropped it, felt so bad he gave me his canon power shot a410 I think it's called. It's about half of what the hp photosmart cost, but about 100 times better in every aspect. Overall..don't buy this camera. It's just too outdated and odd to really find any use of it.

5 out of 5 stars la razón del tiempo.......2006-05-29

- precio
- resistencia al golpe.
- ideal para niños que recien empiezan.

1 out of 5 stars Battery Guzzler.......2006-05-20

This thing went after batteries with a vengence! I even went out and purchased those super-juiced 'digital' batteries and was able to take about 5 pictures before it finished off the brand-new batteries. It does take pictures (for the most part...sometimes for no reason at all, it doesn't take pictures) but they are not clear on the viewing screen and the zoom makes for grainy pictures. It was terrible taking outdoor pictures if the sun shined at all... It washed out every image. This camera caused me no end of misery and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars Cheap Piece Of Garbage--Not worth $1 never mind $100........2006-05-05

I HATE this camera with a passion. If you want to know what it was like to take a picture in 1906 instead of 2006, buy this camera.

What it does do:

1. It takes pictures (sometimes...when it feels like it.)
2. It turns on and off (again, sometimes...when it feels like it.)
3. You can look at the pictures after you take them (well, you get a rough idea what they look like, because the screen isn't very clear.)
4. Use up batteries like you wouldn't believe (the other reviewer was doing good with 24 pictures--I'm lucky I can take 5 pictures without it dying on me.
6. You can download them to a computer and look at them (this is the best functioning part of the camera.)

What it doesn't do:

1. Take pictures of anything in motion--and when I mean motion, I'm talking about the slightest of twinges. If your subject or the person taking the picture aren't perfectly still, the picture will turn out blurry. Whatever you do, don't drink anything containing caffeine for 24 hours before using this camera.

2. Your subject has to stay perfectly still for about 3 seconds because that's how long it takes for the stupid camera to take a picture. Now, you may be thinking...3 seconds, that's nothing. Well, if you have children, 3 seconds is an eternity. The last time I've used the camera was when I wanted to take a picture of my two little girls. Fifteen tries later (along with 2 battery changes) I finally got a half decent picture. So obviously, if you have children or pets, this camera is an exercise in futility & frustration.

3. It doesn't go off every time you press the button. You have to press the button extremely hard and then wonder for the requisite 3 seconds if it's going to work this time.

4. It doesn't turn on every time you flip the on/off switch. If you flip the switch a little too hard, the camera will shut itself off again. If the camera turns on after 3 tries, then it's doing good.

5. If your background doesn't have megawatts of light, or is lit from the wrong area, your picture will turn out dark. Look forward to several minutes of playing 'musical lights' before you can get your picture to be clear enough.

I know $100 is very inexpensive for a digital camera, but this thing is so bad that I can't imagine paying that much for it. (My camera was a gift from my in-laws. They got it free after buying their HP computer.) Let's just say I'm glad neither I or they paid for it and I feel sorry for anyone who did. If you're in the market for a cheap digital camera, avoid this one like it has the bird flu. You'll save yourself a ton of frustration.

1 out of 5 stars HP Kills Batteries, Dead........2006-02-21

Not only does this cammera suck a pair of AA's dead in 24 photos (or about 15 minutes of video screen) but the cheep plastic hinge breaks easy under the spring pressure. The photos are okay but not great. The flash is nearly useless unless in pitch dark and the zoom only works with the video screen wich eats battery power fast.

Stay away, I have a new cannon and it's great.

5 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?.......2004-11-06

How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Delkin 128MB Secure Digital Card, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

3 out of 5 stars Excellent pictures, but reliability may be a problem.......1999-11-06

The camera takes excellent pictures in just about all conditions, and the autofocus is very reliable; it rarely gets fooled by complicated situations. Flash pictures turn out quite well, with good even lighting throughout the picture. Reliablity has been a question, as the camera sometimes gets fussy and won't function correctly. Removing the battery and cleaning the contacts usually fixes the problem, but I have not had to do that before with a camera, and it is too frequent an occurrence with this one. In these cases of malfunction, the battery tests out fine so it is not the problem.

If reliability were better this would be a five star camera.

                    Amazon.com Product Description

The E5865 from AT&T is a 5.8 GHz cordless phone with an all-digital answering system, dual keypads, and caller ID/ call waiting compatibility. It utilizes the 5.8 GHz band along with frequency-hopping digital spread spectrum technology to provide clearer reception and less interference than traditional 2.4 GHz or 900 MHz phones.

With just one phone jack, the system supports
up to eight extensions throughout your home.

The answering machine provides up to 25 minutes of recording time, while remote operation lets you check messages even when you are away from home. Speakerphones on both the base and handset combine with headset compatibility to provide hands-free communication options, while the LCD on the handset provides a way to navigate the phone's many functions.

Caller ID and call waiting compatible, the E5865 has a 50-number caller ID memory, as well as a 50-number internal phone directory to help you keep track of important phone numbers. Personalized ringing options allow you to assign any of the polyphonic musical ring tones to a phone directory entry, letting you know when a specific phone number is calling.

With multi-user expandability to eight handsets, you can add extensions to your system wherever you need them. Intercom and conferencing functions allow you to communicate between handset locations or with multiple parties at once.

The E5865 has an 8.5-by-8.7-inch footprint and is wall-mountable, freeing up countertop space completely. It also comes backed by a one-year warranty.

                    What's in the Box
Base, wall mounting adapter, cordless handset, short and long telephone line cords, AC adapter, two AA NiMH batteries, belt clip, user's manual

1 out of 5 stars Two different models and different quality.......2007-01-04

There are two different versions of this system. One is terrific and one is the worst telephone system I have ever owned. The terrific system is model E5655, purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer, and the dreadful system is model E5965C, which is the model sold here on Amazon.

The model sold by Hammacher Schlemmer is about half the size and bulk of the model sold here. As others have written, the model sold here, even a well-charged phone, repeatedly goes dead in the middle of conversations. I own both the system and the accessory phone, and both are dreadful. In the Hammacher Schlmmer version, the phone is perfect.

2 out of 5 stars Too many disappointments.......2006-03-07

Others have written about this phone not holding the charge, and I agree! I can't tell you how many times a call has gone dead in the middle of a conversation, with no warning, no low battery message. I've only had the phone since November. There is not a quick, convenient way to redail numbers--you have to choose from a list of options, 1-plus number, or the area code without the 1, or no 1 and no area code. No easy way to speed dial. Range is disappointing. I'm looking for a new phone. Back to Uniden or Panasonic.

5 out of 5 stars Really Good Cordless I am recommending to Others!!.......2006-02-24

So far this is a great phone! Great sound and a lot of nice features. Also, the expandability is a great feature that we aren't using yet but will be nice for us in the future.

3 out of 5 stars Not sure if this is charge problem........2005-12-19

When I received the phone, I thought it was a great phone to use. The only problem is that the handset loses charge sometimes and I couldn't use the phone. I am not sure this is because I placed extra rechargeable batteries in the base so that the handset cannot be charged efficiently or not at all. It seems to work fine now after I removed the batteries from the base. But I am afraid it could happen again. Therefore, I am not sure if I should return the phone now. Any suggestions or similar problems?

4 out of 5 stars A very good expandable cordless system.......2005-10-01

This is a good choice for someone who wants several linked cordless handsets, and it's priced competitively. You plug the base unit (which has a separate cordless handset) into a phone outlet and an power outlet, and then you can a place up to 7 handsets anywhere there's a nearby power outlet. In contrast to a Siemens expandable cordless system that we replaced, the AT&T handsets are weighted well and balanced nicely and the buttons are prominent, and the various features are easy to find. The range is good but not outstanding -- it covers about 2200 square feet with no problems, but when we tried to stretch reception by taking a handset outside the house into a brick out-building it didn't connect, in contrast to a 3-year-old Panasonic 900 MHz cordless. Two minor design annoyances: you have to enter your speed dial numbers into each handset individually - they should be stored in the base unit but they're not. And unlike the Siemens, you can't give names like "Kitchen" or "Den" to the handsets -- just numbers. So when you scroll thru a menu to make an intercom call to another handset, you have to remember its extension number. Other those two annoyances, it's quite a good system, though not perfect.
