Sorta works w/ wireless MAC keyboard and mouse - Audio is horrible.......2007-09-25
I have a Logitech S530 Mac. It is a wireless keyboard and mouse combination. Many people have had problems changing this KVM's switching keys to ctrl-ctrl. Make sure you put the wireless USBM interface into the keyboard side and not the mouse side. So in my case the mouse side is empty. The key strokes in the manual to switch from scroll-lock scroll-lock to ctrl-ctrl worked perfectly. Some of the keys like Home and End and other special application keys don't work.
The audio cables must not be shielded in anyway because my speakers have a high pitched noise and static on them even when the laptop audio is set to mute. If I leave the KVM switched to my desktop and then turn the desktop off there is a significant noise that come through the speakers. Only when I unplug the audio cable from the laptop or desktop does the noise go away. Another problem with noise is that if I'm scrolling I hear the noise through the speakers. Clearly something is wrong!
I called IOGear and they tried to tell me that the audio issue was the first they had ever heard of the problem. I told the woman I didn't believe her because I had seen several reviews on how bad the audio was. I bought the KVM knowing about the audio issues hoping that they weren't going to be that bad. I can get over the hiss and static because there is enough noise in my office to mask it, but the noise coming from my desktop when it is turned off is ridiculous.
I'll be taking this back, due to the audio issues, quirky MAC keyboard support and because I really need a 4-port KVM since I just added another machine. Someone said Startech was great, but I don't think it works with a wireless USB keyboard/mouse combo. Startech also has a button on the box to do the switching without keystrokes.
Great KVM Switch! .......2007-09-22
Excellent product. It allows to share one keyboard and mouse (USB), speakers and monitor between two computers. The step from one to other one is simple, alone pressing two times a key of the keyboard.
No problems!.......2007-09-18
I actually got this unit when I took back the model that had the switch button that sat on the desk. The switch did not work at all on the other model. I have had great success using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse and Sony monitor for both my PC and MacPro tower. I have been using it for about 8 months now, and I have never had a problem yet. I saw some comments about wireless not being supported, but I have had no issues with that at all. Now I just need to figure a way to connect my printer to both. It did take some time to program the keyboard to use the control key (Microsoft keyboard) to switch between computers, but it was so worth it.
I have finally figured out the speaker set up for the Mac side, and am even happier than before. Once I made the adjustments under System Preferences>Speakers, and updated the audio output options, it is working great! So, for anyone having audio issues, be sure to check your Mac settings. The subwoofer works awesome, and the sound output is even better than with the PC.
It saved me having to buy new speakers for my Mac, AND the audio output for computer speech still works so the computer still announces the time with the music playing. This may not be a big issue for some, but when you are on a deadline it is great. It may annoy some, but then you can always shut the time announcement off.
Anyway, I have found nothing wrong with this unit yet. I hope it keeps working so well as long as we are a multi-computer home! Highly recommend.
Fits my Bill.......2007-09-17
I was a bit concerned to read reviews about the audio issues other reviewers wrote on this product.
I have a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse connected to the switch and the two computers are WinXP SP2 systems.
So far, I have not once seen trouble with audio or video while using this switch.
Highly recommend this to any one.
Works great .......2007-09-17
I'm a gamer and I need to switch back and forth between computers constantly.
When I first set up this switch I had all kinds of problems. I didn't take the time to read the directions so everything went crazy on me. After a quick read it was all working fine.
The default hot keys are well placed and simple to use. I use a Logitech G15 keyboard and G5 gaming mouse and I have not had any problems with either. I reassigned the hot keys to one of the extra buttons on the G15 and haven't had any problems.
Now I just need to upgrade to a 4 port switch :).

Simple, slightly ugly cabling, yet works perfectly.......2007-09-14
I also own an expensive Belkin 4-computer model (USB w/audio), but this one actually works better. The Belkin one breaks my multi-function KB, as well as preventing my monitor from sleeping. The TrendNET one works perfectly on both counts, I can switch from my PC to my Mac using ScrollLock+ScrollLock, and it includes the cables. (The cabling weighs about 10X the actual KVM ;-)
One small warning - a Mac cannot use the ScrollLock+ScrollLock keystroke to switch between inputs, so you have to be able to reach the physical buttons.
My only complaints are minor. One is that the cables come off of all 4 sides (which I knew from the pictures), making it very difficult to look nice. You might need some cable ties.
The other complaint is that all of the cables in included are proprietary on the KVM-side - you cannot replace them with your own cables or longer ones. Even the audio cables use a mini-USB connector instead of miniplugs (why?), and the video AND USB ports come off of the VGA connectors! However, this doesn't prevent it from working, but may be a problem if your computers are very far apart, since you'll need 4 different extension cables.
Overall, I really like the product: it works well, doesn't require additional power, and includes all of the cabling.
Great value KVM.......2007-09-02
Takes a few seconds to switch, whether via short-cut keys or buttons on the unit, and one of my computers won't boot unless it is the active one (no keyboard mouse detected), but this little unit does a great job for its price-range, fits neatly on my desk, and meets all my expectations thus far.
great kvm switch.......2007-08-14
Product being used on two Dell Vista machines. Works very well in the usb mode. Hot key changing works fine. buttons can be used to change computers. Convenient when needed. Over All an excellent buy for the money.
Very easy and it works .......2007-08-04
This KVM switch works great, i have it attached to a Windows Xp and a Windows Vista machine and it works without any problems, the software is pretty simple to setup and you can configurate the hot keys pretty easily. The only issue that I had is that the 4ft cords were a little small for my needs. The switch itself is very small and compact. Its nice to have it work right off the bat. I threw my Flip button away.
Works great!.......2007-07-20
It does works great, i have it attached to a Windows 2003 Server and a Windows Vista machine and it works without problems, the software is pretty simple to setup and you can configurate the hot keys (but holding always the Ctrl+Alt combination, you only can set the last key of this three key combination).

PS/2 Ports.......2007-09-10
Be aware that his cable supports PS/2 ports only. I found out the hard way that new computers no longer have PS/2, and use USB2 for mouse and keyboard. Check your computer before you buy!
Linksys KVM2KIT is great product.......2007-03-31
Linksys KVM2KIT is a great product.
Easy to install. :) Does work as descibed in product manual.
I would recomend this product.
Not that reliable but better than DLINK.......2007-02-18
My first Linksys KVM Died in less than a year but they replaced it no questions asked (Mouse connection died)
Then after ~3 years the second died. (Same problem) I bought a Dlink KVM. Big mistake. Can't use any USB mice regadless of the PS/2 adapter. The beeping is annoying (yes, you can disable the beep) and it requires a third keystroke.
Maybe I'll get a third Linksys. I liked the more simple toggle and darn it, at least it worked for a while.
Great for the price.......2007-02-09
I've had this switch for years, has not failed me. Only drawbacks are that it does not support audio and it uses PS/2 (not USB). But if this works for you, then get it.
Does the job as promised.......2007-01-22
This is exactly what I was looking for: not too expensive, not much hassle with the cables - they are integrated with the unit, and no need to reach for the button to switch computers - simply press "Scroll Lock" twice to go from one computer to the other.
Cables are pretty long, which is good: longer that I need at the moment, but I may appreciate the extra length in the future.

Severe suckage!.......2007-09-09
Bought this to use with my Mac Mini PPC and my new Mac Mini Intel. Seemed to work at first, but then refused to recognize either the keyboard or mouse. (Macally and Kensington). Took it back and exchanged it for the IOGEAR GCS632U, which works perfectly. Instead of an unreliable external switch button, it uses a hot key.
Beware of Belkin!

Just a bit quirky.......2007-09-04
The switch is just a bit quirky. It did not work well with the Dell monitor I have, but I got around that by hooking up the laptop to the monitor via VGA and a desktop to the monitor via DVI. The other interesting thing is that the switch has a color to represent which computer you are selecting. That gets out of whack if you don't boot the computers up in a certain order. Which mean the sound gets out of sync of the mouse and keyboard. So I have the desktop hooked up to speakers and the laptop sound just via internal specker. So all I am truly using the device for is to switch keyboard and mouse. Sound and video are not going through the switch as designed. If you plan to buy, I recommend getting the one without sound. The video might be OK with a monitor other than the Dell 19 Ultrasharp I have. It is still a cheap solution
Buyer Beware.......2007-06-28
Purchased one in October, it worked very well 95% of the time as long as I didn't want sound with both computers (sound never switched over) until June when the button stopped working. Also found the wiring very difficult to work with since the hub is between the computers and the button.
Works well with wireless devices.......2007-06-02
this works well with a logitech wireless set i have, though the mouse is ps2 and connects directly to one machine. i have a logitech wireless usb trackball on the other usb port, and both the keyboard and trackball respond after switching the kvm, though a 5ish-second delay is required.
the audio is relayed properly as well, though i haven't done any audio-quality comparisons.
once in a while, the unit will automatically switch to the other kvm set if only one machine is powered up. i'd be watching a movie from a laptop and it'd switch 3 times every 10 minutes, and would go away, but its annoying when my butt is adhered to my bed.
i'm running a dell e1705 laptop and an older white box with a radeon AIW 8500 to a sony 46s2010 lcd tv, and would definitely buy this again with the small problems, versus buying another set and risk gaining either a perfect situation or a very problematic one. and i do like the little flip instead of the whole unit sitting atop my desk.
sore head.......2007-05-10
Don't get this unless you intend to spend considerable time under your desk... Mine works for up to two days at a time, whereupon I must climb under my desk to un and re-plug the USB ports in both computers to reactivate it. Watch your head getting back up, and expect to do this several times a week. Also, sound won't always shift with computers, so you'll get the sound from one computer with the KVM of the other.

Sound electronic noise.......2007-07-07
The function of the KVM is flawless, but the sound switching has a problem in that there is electronic feedback or crosstalk and you get a irritating headache causing, high pitch twang and you end up unplugging the sound cable to the KVM.
KVM pretty good, slight problem.......2007-06-08
This is a pretty good product: was easy to install, functions well, is valuable to display small Fujitsu P1510 on desktop. Only bad feature is that when the desktop comes out of "sleep mode" - the spacebar will automatically go on forever until you hit the hot key once to stop it. Nothing severe, it is an annoyance, but worth it for me.
Sunshine.......2007-05-08
This didn't work so well for me - computer locked up and ran really slow.
Great For Multitasking/Developers/Sys Admins.......2007-04-08
This switch is truly great for those of us who use multiple machines to get our work done. I myself use this switch with my PowerBook G4 running OS X, and a Dell OptiPlex desktop running Windows XP and Debian Linux, with the PowerBook spanning screens when I have it switched active with this KVM. I can easily and quickly switch between OS X and Windows or Linux to compile and test software on the various platforms, as well as perform system administration functions on my various machines without the obvious hassle of plugging and unplugging that this switch is obviously designed to take care of.
All in all, it's a very simple device, but very effective. Those of us who could use something like this only need a review to confirm whether or not it works as intended, and aside from audio, which I could care less about, it works wonderfully. The only caveat I could find with it is that using the Scroll Lock key with the Macintosh active causes the internal LCD to dim (by design, apparently, as it takes the function of the hardware F1 key), but that's not much of an issue for me. If it isn't for you, I highly recommend this product . . .
Not bad for the price.......2007-04-03
I have used various other KVM's in the past ranging from home use to commercial applications, and this KVM for the price is quite good. Switches between computers quickly and easily, audio sounds good (good enough for me), and it was a snap to hook up. I love the built in cables and size of this unit. Its size makes it easy to hide on the already cluttered desk. I just slapped a piece of Velcro to it and hung it on the back side of the desk. My complaints are that the PS2 connecters seem to come loose from the unit quite easily, and that they are so close to the monitor connector that if you have a USB to PS2 converter you need to get a small pig tail extender. One PC's video was a little off, but it has always done that no matter what KVM I have used (two different Belkin models in the past). I use this between two desktop PC's. One is dual booted with WinXP and Fedora, and the other PC is dual booted between Ubuntu and Fedora. I have had no problems with any of the OS's picking up the mouse or keyboard. Well worth the price I paid!

Customer Reviews:
The damn thing just works!.......2007-06-13
I recently purchased this KVM to replace the AddLogix KVM, I'd been using for about a year. I had nothing but problems with the old KVM and decided it wasn't worth the aggravation. So, I bought the Avocent switchview DVI. I'm running two identicle Dell Dimension 8400's with all the bells and whistles with a Dell 24" monitor with the resolution set at max.(1920 X 1200). I see no degradation with the Avocent KVM even though their specs say they only support a lower max. resolution. What a pleasant suprise! The only thing I had to do was sync each computer to the Avocent, which is no more than letting my computers on #1 and #2 re-install the usb drivers for all of my devices, and with a 7 port USB hub plugged in, it took a while. Once that was done, I was up and running. I haven't tried any of the hot keys, as I don't see a need for them in my case. The KVM switch is only 16" from my hand, nice touch though. All in all, bottom line, the damn thing just works! It does what it's supposed to do, and a little more.
Works great (with workaround).......2007-05-02
First switch was defective. As soon as I completed the on-line return forms, Amazon immediately shipped out a replacement. In diagnosing the first defective switch, took avocent tech support a day and half to return my call.
The replacement switch works great. Drives my 24" monitor at 1920x1200. My microsoft wireless laser mouse 5000 was not supported, but when hooked to the switch's USB hub, I have full functionality of Intellipoint on both PCs.
Be carefull if you order the avocent cable kit. I was not aware that there are two DVI cable formats, a DVI-D and a DVI-I. A DVI-I port will accept both cables. A DVI-D port will NOT accept a DVI-I cable. This switch will accept either formats.
Fast switching. No hangs. Will save me a ton of time. Make sure to check Avocent's web site for firmware updates.
works so so, kinda wonky.......2007-01-12
I have an unusual setup:
I have a g4 laptop and a dell tower, both hooked up to 2 evoluent vertical mice (one left handed, one right handed), a microsoft ergo keyboard 4000, and a wacom intuous 3.
The tablet simply does not work when connected through the kvm. One of the mice consistently dies when connected through input 1. Periodically, the other mouse will die and the dead one will revive when switching. un plugging and re plugging brings them back.
My mac can't recognise the microsoft keyboard through input 1, even though there is a driver installed for it, and it recognizes it when it is directly connected.
Ocaisionally, the screen corrupts, switching back and forth fixes it...
If you have a fancy setup like mine with lots of sensitive input devices, splurge for something a little nicer.
pricey, but worth the extra $.......2006-03-22
This is a great switch, clear quality, no interference, analog as well as digital audio.
Drawbacks:
dosen't include cables aside from power so you have to fork over more dough for those as well.
Otherwise i'm happy with it. save a ton of desk space too!
Quality switch that works well.......2006-03-21
This switch was my third try to find a DVI + USB KVM switch that worked. This was the charm. I use this with a Dell 2001FP running 1600x1200, with a laptop and desktop running ATI chipsets. Out of the box this switch worked quite well. Build quality is very good, if a bit bulky.
I did notice one problem with something, which I eventually traced. If the desktop PC went into monitor powersave mode, while switched to the laptop, the screen would lose sync. Disabling the powersaving on the PC solved the problem. Avocent tech support was helpful in logging the report. I got a live person to talk to!
The best feature is the keyboard hotkey switching. It allows you to place the switch just about anywhere and use the keyboard. The KVM has several extra USB 2.0 ports that can be statically assigned or switched. A good product that has really worked for me. I would recommend this for someone with a high rez DVI monitor that wants the quality of a digital input.

Customer Reviews:
Doesn't support VGA.......2007-08-27
Product is great with newer computers, but it's features are completely misleading when it comes to older computers with only a VGA video port. Apparently, it only supports DVI-i, rather than DVI-d. DVI-d has the ability to use that dvi-to-vga adapter, whereas DVI-i only supports digital. When trying to hook in an older computer, this switch becomes absolutely useless.
Avocent Switchview DVI.......2007-08-12
I needed a DVI switch that would allow me to share a single DVI based flat panel display. The Avocent switchviewDVI seems to work well with PC's and Macs.
I would have given it a 5 star rating, but it some times will get a little twitchy if one of the computers changes to a sleep mode. Usually all you have to do is press an alternate computer's switch, and then back to the original one and things seem to clear up immediately. Other than that it has been very stable. It also allows me to use one set of computer speakers which really helps alot. However, I do have to mention that you will have to buy some DVI cables and stereo audio cables since no cables are included with this switch.
doesn't work with Thinkpad Advanced Dock.......2007-07-31
i hooked up one 1600x1200 LCD to 2 computers: a desktop with nvidia 6150 integrated graphics and a laptop (lenovo T60p in a Thinkpad Advanced Dock). the desktop worked fine, the laptop could not detect the presence of the monitor, so it displayed a blank screen. a gefen switch works fine in the same situation.
hates sleeping computers.......2007-03-24
This switch works pretty well until one of your computers goes to sleep or the display sleeps, then you have to power cycle the switch to get it to display anything after waking up the computer or display.
Same problem occurs when you just turn on the computer.
Windows is especially bad about thinking it has no display if you boot Windows when it is not the selected computer.
If your computer never sleeps and never sleeps the display, then the switch works fine. Otherwise look for something else.
Barely Adequate.......2007-01-11
It does the job. But ....
Major peeve:
If you are not switched to the graphics card until the boot completes, the screen stays blank.
It does not appear to isolate the computer from the peripherals. You must have a keyboard / mouse attached. A "stupid" emulation until a real device is attached would be more useful.
Minor peeve.
You can only move the USB and Audio connections by moving "syncing" the audio and/or the usb to the keyboard and monitor. You cannot shift them independently.
Don't bother buying the avocent cable. It isn't a single unified cable, it is three seperate cables.

Sometimes Jams.......2007-08-03
Mine jams every once in while. Have reset it by powering it down (unplugging everything). Pain.
RE: No problems Plig 'N' Play.......2007-08-02
I had no problems with this item a few things a purchaser should take into consideration:
This is for standard keyboard & mouse dont try and use a feautred keybopard or a wireless mouse it will most likely not work.
At times my video would revert back to 800 X 600 display, nothing a PC reboot would not fix 1 in 30 times this happened.
All in all a nice cheap fix, I would highly recomend for basic 2 PC KVM two thumbs up.
KVM Switch.......2007-06-10
This one does the basics, that is, switches between one Desktop and another. This is the second one after I had to have the first one they sent me replaced because of a bad video signal on one channel. This one does has audio problems but I got tired of sending them back and forth to get exchanged.
Useful tool.......2007-05-25
So easy to use. Plug in, and you're good to go. The only drawback is that it's a little bulky, so it's not easy to find a hiding place for it. Now that I have my LCD monitor, though, I stick it right behind there, use the keys to switch between CPUs and I'm good to go. I love it! I wish I had gotten one sooner!
Excellent.......2007-05-24
Simple, works great, exactly what I was looking for.
No problems at all with booting either computer if not switched to it.
Has keyboard switch sequence, so the unit can be placed out of the way.

So BAAAAD!.......2007-02-22
Could not be worse. I hate it. I use it flip 6 months. Also I use it only because at office of another is not available. That it has earned every times is necessary to climb under a desk, to take out all 2 USB a connector and to insert them back. It kills my second computer. When it happens the manager is compelled will not only replace it but also to buy a new computer.

Product Description
The TruLink 2-Port USB and PS/2 KVM Switch offers a quick and easy way to eliminate clutter from your desktop. It can control two computers with just one keyboard, mouse, and VGA monitor. Connect the switch to your computers via USB and VGA by using the included cables. The three downstream USB ports can be used to share USB peripherals and your USB mouse and keyboard. Or, connect your keyboard and mouse by using the PS/2 ports and use all three downstream USB ports for peripherals. Three types of switching (push button, hot keys, and on-screen-display) enable switch operation in the most effective way for your application.
Customer Reviews:
Very Good Product.......2007-07-27
This was very easy to hook up & use. Flips back & force between 2 boxes and one monitor & mouse. Does not lose the mouse or keyboard when changing from one box to the next.
