The Scotch Disc Cleaner is a neat little cleaner. It does not purport to remove scratches, and it doesn't, but it does do a very great job at cleaning smudges, fingerprints, dust and other crud from a DVD or CD playing surface. Every time I rent a DVD, it is undubtedly plagued by the last renter's fingerprints, dog drool, etc. I always pop a rented disc into this cleaner, and in ten seconds it is spotless. It prevents irritating frame freezes and shifts while watching a movie, and keeps my home DVD player and car CD player (which is very sensitive to smudges) playing flawlessly.

This is horrible...what happen to discwasher? It doesn't do what it advertises...remove dirt....they mean pushes dirt around the grooves.

I recently revived my old stereo and hundreds of LP albums from the basement. There are many of these albums that never made it to CD, and I also wanted to see what people were talking about when they say that analog vinyl has a warmth that digital CDs do not. Now, a week later, I really do understand.
But with that warmth comes dust and dirt, which is not a problem for CDs. I remembered that back in the day the standard of excellence for disk cleaning was the Discwasher. I spent about an hour looking for my old one, gave up and bought a new one, now made by RCA.
The old company either went bankrupt or just sold out, but RCA has run this product into the ground - it's not what you remember. Now made in China, the wood handle is imprecisely cut so that the bottle no longer fits well inside. Instead, it gets lodged and took some time to dislodge. That's not a big issue however, but indicative of how the quality isn't what it used to be.
The real issue, however, is the cleaning pad. The old model had ridges of material that ran lengthwise to the handle, with the fibers angled so that they dug into the grooves and pulled out the dust, holding onto it. That's why it worked so well. What's the pad covered with now? It appears to be brown corduroy, with ridges, yes, but the fibers have no particular orientation. Thus, it does not dig into the grooves and does an even worse job of holding onto the dirt it does dislodge. I was almost going to give up on the new Discwasher as the results were so second rate.
I was very disappointed, but thought maybe my memory had built the old Discwasher into something Herculean that didn't match reality. Memory has a way of accentuating either the positives of negatives.
Well, today I found the old Discwasher, and let me tell you, if anything my memory didn't give the old product enough praise. I have now cleaned several LPs with the old one, and there's an absolute world of difference. The old one digs the dirt out and keeps it in the pad until you brush it out, completely unlike the one that RCA is peddling these days. The new one leaves a lot of dust on the disc no matter how carefully you roll the brush.
Shame on you RCA for exploiting and cheapening a venerable old brand. What would it have cost you to put the proper fabric on the pad as opposed to corduroy? Maybe 15 cents per item?? But then again I guess they get the corduroy clippings cheap from a GAP factory in China.
Yes, it looks like the Discwasher of old, but that's the extent of the resemblance. If you're looking for the Discwasher you remember, look in the basement; maybe you'll get really lucky like I did. Or, look on eBay, but do not look to RCA.
For those reviewers writing reviews based on the historic quality of this product - you haven't bought this new version. It really is remarkably inferior.
Shame on you RCA for what you've done to this product.
The Best.......2005-11-29
I have used this system for cleaning my vinyl for more than 20 years. They've been around for a long time, and stayed around even throughout the years when vinyl wasn't "cool." I'm sure there are more expensive ways to clean a record, but this is by far the most effective for the least cash. It even works on old vinyl that hasn't been taken care of, as in being sticky or just generally yucky, which those expensive so-called vacuum systems may not remove. Always clean your records in the direction of the grooves (this is included in the instructions) and you will enjoy your recordings for many, many years to come. I have records over 40 years old that still sound brand new because I use the Discwasher.
Still the best LP cleaning system in 30 years.......2005-09-26
One can obtain more fancy and expensive LP cleaning devices that sell in the $500 to $900 range. However, for the modest price, Discwasher remains one of the best and most effective on the market. As one can see from the photo, Discwasher consists of a rounded striated cushion affixed to a wooden handle, the whole thing the size of a small blackboard eraser. Three drops of special fluid (one can use filtered water) are smeared along one edge of the cushion which is then gently pressed against the spinning disc, picking up ambient dust by some sort of capillary or static-elec action. Then the dry side is applied as the finishing touch. I still use mine religiously. The very popular Discwasher is not only cheap, but unlike similar models that have come and gone, the damn thing really works! I'm surprised and frankly, reassured, that this handy and, for this die-hard vinyl user, indispensable item is still on the market.

Memorex has an excellent product in the Optifix Pro disc cleaning system. First, it is simple to use, my twelve year old son uses it. Also, it has saved quite a few of my expensive CD's, DVD's, and data discs. To be honest, I have not used any other products of this type, but this one certainly lives up to the manufactures claim that it will fix most damaged discs! I highly recommend this product if you own any substantial quantity of DVD's or CD's, and wish to extend their usefulness. Great product!

This is one of the few products that actually works. I have tried others. Don't expect it to work major miracles though. Sometimes you can't fix what is broken.

I'm really starting to worry about Amazon employees and their packaging skills after ordering two 80- count bottles of belkin computer clean wipes that were packaged in a single paper envelope with absolutely NO bubble wrap... They arrived by ups broken and completely squished (Like I didn't see this coming after the pretzel incident)... I salvaged the wipes and placed them in a large ziplock bag.
Oh well at least ups didn't run the wipes through a paper shredder...
The wipes are anti-static and pre-moistened and are extremely effective at cleaning the dust off sensitive computer parts. I recommend turning off your pc and unplugging it then gently use the wipes on the fans, harddrives and graphics card...

After receiving this and discovering it to be Difluoroethane, not "canned air" as the Technical Description states, I've further discovered that while it can be shipped to me by Amazon using typical Amazon packing materials, I'm not allowed to return it for a refund with the same (or any) packing materials because it is "flammable".

Helps Prevent Dust Buildup and Overheating.......2006-11-17
The Memorex 10OZ 152A AIR DUSTER is a lifesaver for computers. While it won't help with viruses or adware, it does blow dirt and dust away from cooling vents and out of keyboards. Look for price, not brand. Avoided scented ones.
Most air dusters are the same, and evaluating this one, then, is difficult.
Most importantly, it works. It has the same pressure, and total air as the Fellowes, Office Depot or CompUSA product. The straw seems to be the same quality, stronger than the kind used for drinks.
To clean your monitor or computer, turn them off, and spray air on, but across it. Blowing directly at them will only spray dust into the device.
To clean your keyboard, turn it over, and give it a shake. Lean it at around 45 degrees, and the put the straw into the space between the keys at the top. Spray the air directly down, dragging the straw downward until you reach the end of the keyboard. Repeat from one end to the next, and don't forget the number pad. Shake the keyboard again, and clean up the crumbs and dust from your desk.
Choosing this version over another needs to be based on price, convenience, or brand allegiance. Ordering online, along with other office products, can save money or hassles. You won't find a better general office air duster. Comparable, yes, but better, no. Price, price, price.
I fully recommend the Memorex 10OZ 152A AIR DUSTER.

Amazon is using the wrong product picture.......2007-03-16
I have told Amazon a number of times that the product picture they are using is the wrong picture (green and white discs); it is a picture of the REPAIR kit. This item is the CLEANING kit not the REPAIR kit. This product line has a CLEANING kit, a REPAIR kit and a BUFFING kit. If you buy this item only from looking at the product picture like I did, then you will not be pleased when the package arrives. Amazon has a habit of ignoring customers' suggestions to improve its site and it's things like this that makes customers angry. I bought this item in December 2006 and at that time told them on the phone that they used the wrong product picture and therefore I did not receive the item I thought I was buying (yeah, I'm stupid). I told them 2 more times since December that this is the wrong product picture but they ignore my emails and phone calls. Their loss. I bought the right product at another web site that was using the correct picture and also had it cheaper than Amazon.
Amazon catalog guys, feel free to remove this review when you fix the problem. Otherwise, buyer beware.

This stuff is awesome. looking to buy another bottle of the family size. It doesnt drip. Goes on nice and with the microfiber cloth is just awesome. I was scared at first to use it on my 65 inch toshiba dlp tv. so i tried it on my laptop screen dell i9300. Stuff made the screen like i just bought it. Well i didnt think twice to do it to my monster size tv. I used it and love it. Took finger prints off with no problem. I recommend this stuff now. I read the reviews on this product before I purchased and it seemed that most people rated it as very good stuff. I needed a good streak free cleaner for our LCD monitors and laptop screens at work....about 20 screens in all. iClean works great! A couple squirts to apply, a few swipes of the micro fiber cloth and the screens look as good as new. I give it a 5 for getting the job done, but a 4 for the price (kind of pricey).

Monster iClean really does work great! I use it on my laptop and The Better Half's flat panel. Like a brand new screen! It would be five stars if it weren't for the price but nothing else does the job without damaging the equipment. So, use sparingly and make it last!
