Excellent Product.......2004-04-17

got this 3 years ago. very happy with the 10 hours of use on 1 AA. i have dropped it a couple of times, cover comes off which helps lessen the impact and i put the cover back on and all is well. software is musicmatch which works well and it supports all the formats i am aware of WMA, MP3,MP3Pro and WAV. small and light enough i take it when i travel and run. my only quip is the memory size, but it offers expansion with the MMC which is cheap enough these days. overall, excellent product.

Miles ahead with PAP3000.......2003-12-12

I am an endurance athlete, and my Intel Audio player has joined me for hundreds of miles on trails, roads, trainers, and gyms. I am very pleased with the performance, durability, ruggedness, and easy of use. When compared to many other MP3 players, this was by far the most robust. I clip it to my waistband and onward I go. The life expectancy of most of my running radios are less than a year, so I was nervous about the investment. A typical failuer is the headphone jack, or getting wet, or dropped too many times. For well over a year, training for 4 marathons and an Ironman, it has stood all the punhishment I can deliver it.

Rugged little player.......2003-12-08

I have had this player for a year or two, and it is one of the best players out there (or used to be out there) for the price. I have dropped mine more than once, on hardwood floors, even asphalt, and it still plays like brand new. Another good feature of this player is that it supports WMA's (unlike iPod) which is essential if you subscribe to music services like Napster 2.0, Liquid Audio, MusicMatch etc. It also includes something that many big memory players (and all hard-drive players) don't include which is expandable memory w/ MMC chips. But the fact that they have discontinued almost all support and you cant buy replacement parts ANYMORE is a down side. But I have not needed to use their online help almost ever. Another thing that makes this player unique is the abbility to change the appearance, and the program included to make your own face plates. All in all, a very good player.

Awesome player for the money!.......2003-11-14

I have been using my PAP3K virtually every day at the gym for the last 18 months and it has always worked reliably. The belt clip sucks, but I just took a lanyard from a trade show badge and clipped it to that. I can walk/jog/run, bike, row, use the nautilus equipment, and a whole variety of other equipment without fear of the thing getting damaged. Heck, it's even water resitant enough to take out to the local water park during the summer and float around the tube pool. I added an extra 64Meg when I bought mine and used it this past summer for a 15K walk-a-thon. Using WMAs at 96KBit, I loaded enough music to see me through the walk without any repeats.

It is really ashamed that Intel decided to get out of the end-consumer products. If this is an example of what they could do the first time out, I'd really love to see what they could have done given time to improve upon it.

One year follow-up review.......2003-04-09

In less than one year I have now had two of these break!!!!!!! Intel is sending my third one to me this week. First one broke inexplicably after maybe 5 months of moderate use. Second one broke after no more than ten uses. It's important to note that I DO NOT use the player during excercise so the players have obviously been faulty. Intel was super nice the first time this happened. The second time, I spoke with the same person, and he said they can't keep sending me a new player everytime I break one. How's that for customer service! The player is great when it works and I love it. However, I would stay away from this product based on my experience.

I had it for about six months and was never impressed. The sound was consistently poor and the battery had a short life before needing recharge. After six months it stopped working altogether. It's the last AT&T product I buy for a long time.

I loved my old Southwestern Bell 25 MHz phone (trimline shape and size, but cordless), but after quite a few years, the buttons were wearing out. I bought this phone after carefully reviewing the reviews, the product description, etc. On paper, this phone looked good, but actually, it was pretty bad. All reception sounded fuzzy, even after two phone calls to AT&T for customer support. All AT&T could offer was to suggest I move closer to the base (I was standing right next to it), unplug my modem (I did and that didn't help), confirm that I wasn't next to a TV tower (I'm at least three miles away from the closest tower), and come up with any other they could think of to prove the problem was me and not the phone. Ultimately, I was told by customer support that something was indeed wrong withthe phone, but this is a discontinued model, they don't repair it and I should return it to the vender from whom I purchase it. So, bottom line, I've returned it and am, once again, looking for a new phone.

I purchased this phone for $$$$--with a $$$ rebate! It works great throughout the house and even around the yard. AT&T still makes the best telephones. I've tried them all at much higher prices and this one is the best. The battery has a long life and the company will stand behind its product. I'm converting all the phones in my house to this type.

I have owned the phone for one year. The part you speak into went dead. I cannot locate customer service anywhere on internet or at mall. ATT Automatic answering machine hung up on me twice after waiting 2 hours. Not worth the investment. Buy a better phone from another company that has people answering the phone.

Inexpensive, functional.......2003-04-16

originally purchased as a replacement for a corded kitchen phone (so i could use the phone more easily while cooking), this phone is an excellent value as an additional unit around the house (I already have a Panasonic phone/answering system with caller ID, which i like).

the handset has a volume control which comes in handy in the kitchen when the mixer and range hood are both running.

so far the range of this 900MHz unit is good enough anywhere in the house and around the yard.

Overall, a great value. I have both the white and the black models (note: the pics on this site are not of the actual unit, just a close representation).

Love these radios!.......2004-05-01

I purchased these radios a couple of years ago and plan to purchase another set. Taking them camping is great and they function well within the stated 2 mile radius. At about that point the sound is fuzzy, but expected. They work great between cars on the road, at amusement parks, or even at home. My son loves to take one to the park and that way I can still keep tabs on him. When I want him to come home, I just page him. Definitely a good buy for the money.

Poor Performs.......2003-03-09

I will be returning the radios. They both worked well the day I purchased them. The next day one unit would not pick up the signal.The batteries also get low quick.

Great in the right niche.......2003-02-20

I picked these up as you couldn't beat the price, and they have a nice set of features. The range is not great, as others have said. The biggest problem I have is that the large orange button in the picture is the power switch. When I throw them in a daypack or travel bag they would often get accidentally turned on. I have to take a battery out to avoid this.

However, for limited range use around the house/campsite, they've been really handy. The page feature is nice and the small size makes them easy to carry.

Great radios for a great price.......2003-02-20

These Audiovox radios worked wonderfully for me on numerous trips in theme parks, hotel/beach and even using between two cars. I have had no problems with them - used them for 3 years now. 3 AAA batteries last a pretty long time - unit goes into battery saver mode if not used for a few seconds. Range could be better but 1/2 - 1 mile no problem (tried this on Aspen ski slopes!!). Foldable antenna is great. Not sure about the vox capability - never really tried it.

We got these for are children to take when we take trips.They take them when they go in the public restroom so I know that they are safe at all times. We have three pair so everyone can have there own. The kids love them because they can have a little freedom and know that they can call mom if they need her.

If you want an Inexpensive but good labeler, this is the one.......2000-07-25

This is probably the least expensive labeler around that gives you a both an LCD display and a close to QWERTY keyboard. I've seen units at equal price that didn't give you an LCD screen (to see what you type) or give you a QWERTY type keyboard.

If you plan to do infrequent labeling, but want a good/compact device to do it, this is the unit to buy. At $29.99, you really can't go wrong.

One thing to be aware of is that the Label cartridges are not very big and you will replace cartridges faster than the more expensive labeler units (The cartridges are from $6-$9 each). One thing I don't like about this unit is that some common character like "#" and "$" are not easily accessable as you have to go thru several keystrokes to get the character to show up.

If you do alot of Labeling, want bigger cartridges or want a true Qwerty Keyboard, then the PT-1700 (at $10-$15 more than the PT-85) may be a better alternative

pros ... 1. easy to use 2. shuts itself off 3. change type size quickly 4. remembers last entry (even if powered-off!) so easy to edit for next label.

cons ... 1. heavy since has several AA batteries. 2. takes only one kind of tape. 3. not easy enough to remove tape from backing.
