If you have HP's DJ450 mobile printer, this case is terrific. It's compact and offers very good protection in a contemporary design.
The newer and slightly larger HP DJ460 printer has a different curve that makes the case too snug in width.
One of the other reviewers noted padding could be removed from the case to allow space for the larger printer, but please consider that does decrease protection for the printer.
Mobile Carrying Case a hit.......2007-08-26
I bought for my boss to better mobilize him while traveling. It was sent out quickly, and the quality of the product is top notch!
Portability for that portable printer........2007-07-25
What good is a portable printer if you can't tote it around conveniently? This HP C8242A Compact Case allows me to carry the printer, cables, and even a bit of paper along with me wherever I go.
The good: There's ample room to carry the printer and all the accessories I need. They also reserve half of the case to carry your notebook.
The bad: I have a 15.4" notebook which doesn't fit in the case so that side of the case is empty (which causes it to flop over unless it's leaned up against a wall). I elected to put a 1/4 ream of paper into that side to even out the weight.
All in all it was a worthy investment and I'm happy with the purchase.
460 Does not fit.......2007-07-18
The 460 printer does not fit unless you completely gut the padding from the case. This leaves no divider, so the only thing this bag will hold is the printer and accessories. You could put your notbook in with it, but the two pieces of equipment will rub together because there will be no divider.
This bag is NOT large enough for the 460 printer and a notebook computer, as the product description states above.
Not A Perfect Fit For The HP460.......2007-07-13
When I searched for a carrying case for my HP Deskjet 460 on the Hewlett Packard website, it repeatedly matched me up to the HP C8242A. After receiving the carrying case, I found I had to remove the interior padding on the ends of the case to get my 460 to fit. This leaves less protection for the printer than I would like. In addition, it leaves the "hook" part of the velcro in the case to rub against the ends of the printer. (Bad.) I also had to remove the interior partion which had pockets for pens, etc. for the printer to fit. (Not needed). All these were easily removable as they are velcroed in.
On the plus side, the construction and material appears to be bullet proof. I love the large zippered panel which allows easy access to the printer. I store paper behind the printer in an envelope, which can be accessed from another zippered opening on the other side of the case, since I had to remove the partion. (Which is OK.) Envelopes I store in the back pocket. The main compartment has enough room to store the charger, cords, etc. in a seperate zippered pouch which came with the case.
Couriously, there is a weird strap at the top of the back pocket with velcro. Presumably to hold larger envelopes or papers in place. Why not just run the pocket to the top of the case instead?
I could have gone for a larger bag (the next size HP has is much larger), but the whole idea was portablity and size.
Over all, it's a good bag. And I look forward to many years of use.
