Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Great earbuds for blocking outside noise.......2007-04-12
These earbuds with their different sizes of ear pieces make it so they fit well in my ears. They seal very nicely so that airplane noise is mostly eliminated. In fact, I can't hear the flight attendant without taking one out. The sound quality on these are very good - the bass is much better than previous earbuds I've had that used foam for outside the ear canal.
One of the buds has a longer wire which at first I didn't think I would like. But with when it's around the back of your neck it keeps it from dangling if you have to momentarily take it out. Also it makes the main wire stay off to the side so it doesn't get hung up on things as easily as if it were front and center. I'm sure ther are more expensive models with better sound but I think these are a good value for the price.
Give me a headache.......2007-02-07
There are 3 different sized rubber ear pieces, but even with the smallest one it feels like its pushing the inside of my ear open. And after a few minutes it gives me a headache. If I use a larger size they don't stay in. Maybe its just my ears, but I think I have pretty normal ears. I guess i got what i paid for. I recommend spending a bit more.

Love Them........2007-08-19
About four years ago, I bought a blue pair of these in the duty free shop before getting on a plane in the UK. Until this morning, when I found one of them crushed under a box, they were the best headphones i've ever had. Not only was the color pretty, but they always sounded wonderful. I had no idea they were water-resistant until i started searching for the product number in order to get another pair. I've never had a problem with other people being able to hear what i'm listening to, which comes in handy when using them in a quiet art class. I'll be getting a silver pair here cause the blue ones are only in the UK. Au revoir, sweet blue.
deep bass with high quality treble.......2006-10-30
i have tried the sony E828LP as well as the standard ipod earbuds. Compared to those, the panasonic was definitely the best.
At first, I wasnt into the hype of having to use foam cover because they always get lost or deterorate. while listening to it like this, i was really disappointed in the earbuds because of the extremely high treble but tincan-like bass. it was so bad that it went to the point where i wanted to just tear the earbuds apart. good thing my friend recommended me to try on the foam covers and to my amazement, the earbuds sounded extremely good. the bass was really deep and the treble was really soothing and comfortable. i'm a really picky guy and i listen to a lot of r&b and techno, so i need the deep high quality bass. this lil earbud supplies just that.
although the sound quality amazes me, i find the wiring design annoying. I'm more into the V-shape wires like the sony and standard apple earbuds, however this is a minor issue when taking into the account the quality the earbuds produce. another problem was that when panasonic tangle-free wiring, it isnt so tangle free. sony does a way better job in that category with their earbud.
so the panasonic sound amazing, but compared to the standard ipod earbuds and sony E828LP earbuds, how does it fair? the sony earbuds produce adequate music with more of a popping bass than deep and a little weaker treble. the ipod earbuds has a decent bass and treble, however it sounds as though it is muffled.
in the end, the panasonic is still the best in terms of sound, just not design.
A disappointment.......2006-04-25
I bought a pair of these earbud headphones as replacements for my broken-down iPod earbuds, after reading a couple of good reviews about it. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the results. First of all, listening with the earbuds "naked" (without the caps), the bass is nonexistent and the treble is painfully high. Even the iPod earphones delivered better sound quality than these things. Using the provided caps muffles the treble to a degree where the bass becomes audible, but still lacking.
Also, the "around-the-neck" style that they're supposed to be worn in (the reason for the cord of the right-side earbud being much longer than the left) is annoying. First of all, anyone who wears a collar will have to deal with the part of the cord behind your neck, which will look very sloppy. Also, whenever my shirt rubs against the cord, it has a tendancy to tug on the left earbud, which falls out quite easily, even when wearing the caps.
In the end, I got so fed-up with this pair that I decided to go out and buy a pair of Griffin EarThumps.
The only good thing about this product was the case, but other than that, I don't recommend getting this if you listen to rock or any other sort of bass-heavy music.
Average Headphones.......2006-04-07
I just picked up a pair of these headphones this week. Other than the look, I'm not overly impressed with them. I'm using them with my iPod mini. I find that even the generic iPod headphones sound just as good if not better than these. These headphones are also pretty quiet. I have to turn the volume on the iPod much louder in order to get the same volume as the iPod headphones (maybe that will change once they're broken in?). Another problem or rather disappointment I had was with the length of the wire. The wire for the right earbud is almost 3 times longer than the left. This is to keep the wire off to the side of your body instead of in the middle. The problem with this is when I jog, the extra weight on the left earbud causes it to constantly pop out of my ear.
Bottomline -> If you're looking for great sounding headphones, look elsewhere, but for the cheap price you'll get a cool looking, decent sounding set of headphones. 3 stars.
Very God sound compared to others.......2006-03-09
I compared 4 popular earphone sets side by side on my Rio MP3 player - The Panasonics listed here, the Sony MDR-E828, the Sennheiser MX300, and the iPod standard earphones (that come with iPod Nanos and such). They all go for $6-10 and they all have adequate treble response (althought the SPanasonics are best closely followed by the Sonys). Also efficiency is comparable (within a few dB of one another). Where I found the biggest differences where in bass response and definition or responsiveness (how clearly I could here the individual instruments, notes, etc.) and distortion.
So here is the rundown:
Bass response - the Panasonics were by far the Best. The Sonys were adequate. the other two just OK.
Definition and responsiveness - The Panasonics were the best followed closely by the Sony's. The Sennheisers were OK and the iPods were lacking.
Noise and Distortion - The Panasonics and Sonys were the best. The Sennheisers were decent. The iPods were not very good here.
As for comfort, they all have the same basic design, are the same basic size and therefore the same basic comfort, which is not great but not torturous. I find rubber earbus to be much more comfortable and stay in better. I have yet to try these specific phones while doing active work or excercise, but I am guessing they will be OK but not as good as rubber earbuds or those with behind the ear retaining devices.
Lastly, I originally wanted to avoid using or relying on foam in any of my earphones since it deteriorates and needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, all of these ar more comfortable and stay in better with the foam cover. Also, the Panasonics treble response is so high and good that they tickled my ear without the foam attached.

Customer Reviews:
You can't beat the price.......1999-12-21
This digital camera, the Mustek VDC3500 is probably the best price that you are going to find for a digital camera. I haven't seen a better price.
This is not the top of the line camera, but it does do the job. The highest resuolution that the camera will do is 640x480, and the camera can hold 8 pictures at that resolution. The standard resolution is 320x240, the camera can hold 26 pictures at the lower resolution. Although the pictures are 24 bit color (16.7 million colors) the low resolutions are tough to deal with. The pictures are stored internally as JPEG's.
The camera has a powersaving feature so that after about 90 seconds of idle time, the camer shuts itself down so that it doesn't run the batteries out. This feature is nice when it doesn't come with a power cord.
The self timer is nice, alowing you to set the camera down, then have 10 seconds to run into the picture.
If you are on a budget, the Mustek VDC3500 Digital Camera is the camera for you, but if you want extreme quality, you should take a look at one of the better models.
Pass this one up..........1999-12-12
This camera was HORRIBLE. I was getting this camera for my parents who are not extremely computer literate and when I tried to download the images using the software provided I found it to be very poorly designed and almost impossible to use. The download time is also bad compared to other cameras. It took about 15min to download about 8 images. I have an older camera that takes less than a min to download 32. That was a 2 meg cartridge as well if you tried upgrading to a 16 meg cartridge to take more photos you would be waiting all day. The picture quality is another issue I had. Even on the "Fine" resolution the pictures were extremely grainy. The casing it's self "feels" really cheap and fragile. When my parents received this camera and I came over to show them how to use it I felt embarassed. Trying to figure out how to use this camera and it's overall quality was a tragedy. I know your probably thinking "well you get what you pay for." Let me tell you at any price this camera is not worth it's value. The only good thing to come out of this is that the people at Amazon.com were very cooperative in helping me to return this camera.
The Price Is Right.......1999-12-07
The Mustek VDC 3500 is certainly in the low-price catagory when it comes to digital cameras and, you while you may not always get what you pay for you are certainly likely have to pay for what you get most of the time. So it is with this camera. I don't know how many pixels the camera has, but the number must be fairly limited. This translates into a lower picture quality than you might want, but certainly satifactory for photos that will go on the web. The memory card only takes 4 photos in the "fine resolution" mode but an additional 8 photo memory card is available. The battery costs about $7 and seems to last for about 25 photos with flash. Not a bad camera, but don't expect anything wonderful at this price.
Great camera for the low price!.......1999-11-09
I needed a digital camera to take pictures of new houses, so I could email them to my wife. This camera works great for general photography where you don't need a zoom lens. It also does well for pictures at a closer distance, such as a plant or animal. Simple operation and functions, but does not come with an AC power cord which would be very useful when downloading pictures onto your computer. Without the power cord, you must rely on the camera battery to supply the power. After 90 seconds of non-use, the cammera turns itself off and you have to keep turing it back on for additional downloading. Good camera for entry level digital pictures and general utility use.
