For the price offered, this product can't be beat. Monster wanted as much as $70 for their's. The picture is excellent and the connections are snug.
After all, it'smade by Sony for the Playstation. Evidently, PS2 and PS3 have the same AV connection. A must have for any PS owner.

I was hoping that this cable would make my ps2 games and movies that I play through it look better on my 65 inch hdtv. I hoped wrong. You won't notice any difference with this cable when watching movies or when playing most games. Even with the cable installed, my tv still shows the resolution as 480i, and there seem to be no system changes that can be made in the PS2 that change this. The wii componenent cables that I purchased at the same time make a difference and after changing the settings in the wii itself, my tv shows the resolution as 480p.
The PS2 is just an old system, and instead of hoping that component cables will make it look better, I should probably just go out and get a PS3 or 360. In the meantime I spent an extra 60 bucks and got a 1080p upconverting dvd player. That should make my huge collection of yesterdays technology dvds look somewhat better on my tv... I hope!

Using the RCA cables that came with the PS3, I hardly noticed a graphics upgrade from my PS2. My HDTV does not come with HDMI input so I was a little disappointed that I would be forced to use these. But it really didn't matter. You can use full 1080P just like HDMI cables. The flickering disappears when you use these. The picture quality is incredible using component cables. You can see more of the screen when you set the resolution to 1080P vs 480i, which is important for the Playstation store. Do yourself a favor and get these.

Despite the title, this product does work on PS2 also. It even is labeled on the package as being compatible.
I would not go as far to say this has completely revitalized my PS2, but the difference is very noticeable. Colors are brighter and crisper.
If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. This is a "flaw" with the quality rather than the product. Composite cables tend to give a blurred signal. When switching to component, the picture is so crisp that you can see sharp edges on larger screens.

You get the performance of Monster cables at a fraction of the cost. These work perfect with my slimline PS2 and they fit snugly into my dlp tv unlike monster's which are tight I've heard.

If you own a HDTV, I would highly recommend buying a component cable for use with your PS2. Games are not only clearer and sharper, but color is much better as well as saturation. It's almost as if you are playing a new game, really. DVD's look slightly better, but game improvements are much more significant. Maximize the use of your HDTV and use a component cable.

I was kind of skeptical about purchasing this item and its performance on my HDTV, but once i plug it in...one word: Amazing
I am ashamed that I once thought my PS2 was now a "retro" console, but these cables brought it back to life. However, the only reason why I am still using my PS2, eventhough I do have a Playstation 3 is because of the fact that Sony hasn't made it possible to play Gutar Hero on the PS3. As of right now there are a few number of PS2 games that support "Progressive Scan": God of War II and Guitar Hero II. But once i swicth from the standard Yello-Red-White cables, i could really tell the difference right from the main menu.
I recommend you only get this cable if you have an HDTV and not for a standard tv because of the progressive scan ablility that will truely bring out the power of the PS2.

This cable is well constructed with a nice, high quality, thick, jacket that usually comes on more expensive cables. It's a great compromise if you don't want to shell out $80 for an overpriced cable without resorting to using a lesser quality cable. I'd reccomend it to anyone.

"no such thing as a better cable" is a misnomer. HDMI cables are rated by the bandwidth capacity (commonly known as bitrate per second), the higher the rate, the more info it can pass digitally in a given timeframe. Why is this important? Because, as games become faster, and higher-bit color graphics emerge, HDMI cables will need the additional bandwidth capacity to smoothly transmit the digital signal from game/video source to your T.V. Emerging technologies, such as 12, 16, and 18-bit color, and "lossless audio" will become standard in the near future.
There are some HDMI cables capable of 3.4 Gbit/s, which can more than handle today's 1080P/12-bit color requirements. Some manufacturers, like Monster Cable, claim 10.2 Gbit/s with their M1000HD series HDMI cable, but it's really 3.4 Gbit/s cable multiplied by it's channels (3).
Current sources, such as HD DVD, BluRay and the current crop of PS3 games are adequately served by the HDMI cable listed here. However it won't be long before a "better cable" is required to handle the latest technology. You don't have to sweat it, for the moment.

I received this docking station less than a month ago. Let me be the first to say that this device looks great sitting next to my PS3. The blue LEDs when plugged in give a nice ambience to the area.
However, this device is made of cheap plastic which is not very sturdy. The USB connectors that connect the device to the controllers are not set inside the housing very well. Within a few weeks one of the connectors got pushed into the housing somehow. A week later the other connector got detached from whatever it's connected to inside the housing making the device completely useless.
Finally, with the device completely useless I resorted to using the USB cable that came with the device to plug the controller directly into the PS3 for recharging. After several hours of recharging, I tried the controller to no avail. It seems that the USB cable had gone bad too for some reason. Holding the cable that came with the device in one hand and the cable that came with my PS3 in the other, I noticed a significant difference in quality. The USB cable that came with this device was puny by comparison, and I would attribute this lack of quality to its demise.
To sum this up, let me say that I am merely a casual gamer. I play maybe 4 hours a week (if that) which is the reason I bought the device. For those few hours I do play I need to be recharging my controllers or I will end up having to recharge them at an inopportune time (like when I want to play). I did not do anything unusual to the device and treat all of my purchases with care, so it was a surprise to me that this happened.
I have yet to ask for a refund so I can't comment on that. Let me just warn you that although this device looks nice and has a good concept, the follow through was not put into place to insure a quality product. 1 star.
GREAT ACCESSORY, POOR DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS.......2007-09-18
Before purchasing this peice of hardware I left out one factor that eventually I was going to get 4 controllers, this charger only cradle two. Overall usefulness, it's great! the housing holds the controllers in place, and it's really easy to hook it into the firewire port. On the contrary, the bright LED lights make gaming in the dark extremely annoying. Most often I have to put something on top of it or behind something. It's not like it's just on when it's charging a controller, but instead it turns on when the PS3 is switched on. Something to keep in mind.

Buying this cable is just like throwing money in the trash - cheap HDMI cables will do just as well as Monster. Monster needs to make products that actually have some justice to the price they charge. There is a small difference in analog cables and speaker wire performance, BUT THIS IS DIGITAL - THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN TRANSMISSION QUALITY with short distance connections! Cat 5 cabling with a HDMI plug at the end will do just as well!!! I have purchased Monster cables in the past, BUT NEVER AGAIN - this is treating consumers like they are complete idiots!!!

Although its regular price is over-priced, I happen to get it @ $45.00 less and with that sale price it is surely worth it!
Everyone I talk to and work with (Circuit City/Best Buy) say its the only way to get the most outta the Sony Playstation because it is designed and made with the next-gen console in mind. The picture is crisp and the sound is amazing in 5.1Surround Sound. Only get this is if: 1) You own a Sony Playstation 3 and 2) If you get it at a great sale price cause the regular price is too much.

The only reason you would need to buy a high quality cable such as Monster is if you had to run the cable over 50 feet. Only with runs over 50 feet are you able to see a picture quality difference between Monster cable and generic cables.

Although this one is still a little pricey, it is half the cost of a majority of these cables. It is very solid and durable and I've had no problems with it so far. This will output 1080p from your PS3 to your HDTV(if your TV supports it). If that is what you are looking for then you should purchase this. However, you can find cheaper ones if you really look. This one seemed like the best choice to me and I have no regrets!

So Far So Good................2007-09-02
First of all I found it really hard to find any decent AV switching devices at local stores. I usally prefer to purchase things like electronics in person. So i did as much research as i could online and i feel like i got the right equipment. This product does everthing i needed it to do. I have a DVD, cable box, 2 game systems, a 200 disc changer, and even a connection for my MP3 player. All devices seem to be working fine, and i have had it hooked up for a month already. I did read a couple reviews that said there were problems with HD connections, but i am not using that, also a couple reviewers complained about the quality of cables supplied for this device. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Anyone, who has ever purchased any electronics, should expect to upgrade the cables.The lighted display and remote are the icing on the cake for this product...........Oh yeah, the price i got on Amazon beat Walmart of all places.

I was a little concerned when I first ordered this product for a few reasons. I was running my component cables through my Yamaha receiver but simply ran out of room. I have a 64inch widescreen HDTV and was fearful anything less expensive would result in a poor connection/signal. I was pleasantly mistaken. This would easily be worth the original $99 price, but becomes a no brainer with it at only $63. I use it for my DVD player, my XBOX 360 with HDDVD player and my PS3. All of them have no loss in picture quality. Trust me on my 64inch TV it would be easy to catch. It also supports older connections for video and I would imagine since they are less of a signal that there wouldn't be a problem. I was also impressed it has inputs for digital audio as well as ethernet connections. It has everything but HDMI. It even comes preprogrammed with names of every game system and video device on the market.
My only reccommendation would be to ditch the included component cable and replace it with a better quality one. I'm not sure how they would work but my review is with a Monster cable as they looked pretty cheap. Since they were included though who cares?
EDIT:
Well my foot went in my mouth after writing this review. I should have used it longer as i discovered that it isn't as good as I had thought. When I began watching DVDs and playing more games (PS3 and 360) I soon realized that the picture signal became distorted. It seems as though it has more difficulty during action scenes for some reason, but also was distorted at the opening credits of some DVDs/ games. I ran the cables back to my TV and Yamaha receiver without further problem. I just sent this back and am waiting on the refund. Hopefully nobody used my review and made the same mistake I did. Sorry.
An excellent switch.......2007-07-12
This overall is a very nice video switching system. I did run into a couple problems at first, however, I have some knowledge of electronics. The first issue I ran into was a ground loop witch cause diagonal lines to run through the picture. This was caused by the fact that I had 3 power strips with one having the ground plug (3rd prong) broken off. After getting a single powerstrip that could handle all the devices, this problem cleared up. The second issue I ran into was the remote seemed slow to respond, this was due to shooting it through a glass door in the entertainment center. So relocating it resolved the issue.
The only limitation (maybe) is that it only has 2 ethernet ports. It also has no standby setting, so its either on or off.
It does a fantastic job at all resolutions up to 720, I didnt have anything that went higher to test it.

The picture Quality looks bad, so I got better A/V cables to connect the dam thing to the T.V, which seemed to work the cable they send you is garbage. Also with the Selector my Time Warner cable works fine and looks descent now that I added better wires. I plugged my PS3 and Xbox 360 into it and they look fine but no sound comes out I am still trying to figure out the problem, I even plugged it into the port where i have the Time Warner Cable is which I know works fine, but still no sound.

With some research on video switchers, I finally bought this one.
I needed a new one badly, I had seperate optical switcher and component switchers and they both were dying on me.
I wanted a switcher that had both optical and component in one box, and a remote, and this product does.
The construction is solid, it's metal, and so is the remote much to my surprise.
The price is unbelievable for what you get. If you need a swicther, don't debate it, just purchase this item. With the savings on Amazon I got two day shipping and it was still cheaper than others being offered.
