It Works!.......2007-09-24
The bottom line is that it works great! I am using it without the amplifier. It works like FM (F...... Magic). It worked great behind my entertainment center, but it works even better up in my attic. Actually I just set up my stereo in my first house. My boom box worked great for radio reception there. But I could not get a good FM reception on the receiver no matter what I did. I even set up my old stereo receiver from back in the 80's. It did not get a good signal either. I thought this is ridiculous. I have an expensive receiver, I am an Electrical Engineer, and I can't get my radio to work??? I went to Radio Shack and a few of the high end stereo stores in my area. I got the same story I got a few years ago when I first set up the same receiver in my apartment but got bad reception. The "Tweeter" folks said "well they just don't put the money into the FM portion of the tuners." This seemed plausible but since my old receive didn't get good reception either, and my boom box did, I wasn't satisfied. They even said that I would have the same problem with the best Denon receiver they sell. They were nice enough to try and sell me and XM radio receiver though! Great solution right? I got on the internet and did some research. There really wasn't a good clear answer but I was lead to believe it had to do with the selectivity of the tuner. I guess a boom box tuner is not very selective but will get an OK signal just about anywhere. But a stereo receive apparently has high selectivity to get a better signal. The down side is that if it doesn't get a good signal, you basically get nothing. My neighbor had one of these Terk type sticks that said Radio Shack on it and her receiver worked great. This is interesting since Radio Shack does not carry the product any more, and also interesting because the Radio Shack guy told me that the FM boosters almost never worked. I tried one and he was correct. I was soooooooo happy to get my FM receiver working with the Terk antenna that I got interested in HD radio. I bought the Sangean product and it worked fine except for the bright blue screen, and it has a huge ugly digital clock. Where is the button to turn that off? Options please! Better yet they should have put a standard display on it in the first place. Well the Terk antenna almost eliminated the need for the tuner to default to regular FM. HD having to revert back to standard FM when the HD signal faded was one of the downers that I read about on the internet. Some people said it happened a lot. Although under impressed with HD, I will keep it to get good AM reception. Don't miss-understand, HD does work great but maybe I just have to get used to it. I wasn't a purist that had a problem with CD sound over albums when CD's first came out. Remember those guys? Maybe I am just used to the fuller midrange sounds from the way standard FM is mixed for transmission. I used the Terk AM 1000 antenna with the HD receive as well. The Terk AM antenna made the regular AM radio work great all by itself. But just not as clear as HD AM. For talk radio HD AM is like the guy is sitting right there in the room. It was amazing to find that HD AM gets turned off at night. For a while I could not understand why I wasn't getting any HD AM at night???? It turns out that the signal is so strong that at night it travels farther and interferes with HD AM in nearby towns. Supposedly the FCC made a rule that HD AM can not be broadcast at night. Ya would have thought the big brains would have figured that one out technically before they approved and set up the system "ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY." A big round of Duhhhhhhhh! for the designers please!
TERK FM-50 not worth the money.......2007-09-18
Buy the $5.00 Dipole flat twin wire antenna at Radio Shack, it does just as good a job.
Don't be bamboozled.......2007-07-16
Installation and use of this FM antenna actually degraded the reception of my favorite NPR station, which is a low-powered broadcast from a local university. The antenna pulls in radio stations from distant cities that broadcast on the same frequency as my local favorite just fine, but the result is an unsatisfactory, irritating, garbled mix of at least three radio signals from my speakers. The windshield antenna on my car, when parked in the driveway outside, never fails to pick up this favorite station perfectly clearly in comparison. I got the best results just connecting my radio with the 75 ohm to 300 ohm converter jack included with the antenna and leaving the antenna and its coax cable out of the picture altogether. I could have bought that component at the local Radio Hut for peanuts.
A very good FM internal/external powered antenna........2007-07-05
This is the first antenna that worked properly with my Denon receiver. It was a pitty to have an excelent receiver and not being able to use the tuner. I also bought the unpowered terk am antenna which also worked very well!

Nice antenna.......2007-07-05
I'm very pleased with this product. We have terrible am & fm reception where we are in northwest CT.. I had an older model powered Terk antenna and it did nothing.. But once we got this antenna installed we're getting all kinds of stations we've never been able to pick up before.. Highly recommended..!

Passable. .......2007-07-16
This is an acceptable and satisfactory product. The overall feel is somewhat flimsy and it doesn't lend itself to mounting on anything other than a completely flat surface. All things considered, the antenna gets the job done, but I wouldn't consider it desirable or a standout.
Very good for urban reception.......2007-05-06
Very nice antenna for urban deflection problems. I found it better than any radio shack TV top antenna.
TERK HDTVLP Indoor/Outdoor TV and HDTV Antenna.......2007-04-22
This antenna is the best off-air HDTV antenna I've ever used because it is the only one that will consistently pick up all of my local HD stations in one position. I can get the following: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, MyTV, and PBS.
Works great in Western PA.......2007-04-12
This antenna works wonderful in Western PA. I live in the suburbs north of Pittsburgh, about 15 air miles from town I believe. I receive all of the local channels and even some out of market ones with this antenna sitting in my game room on the lower level. I think about 16 digital signals in all. I have seen others in my area pick up most of these with a much lesser antenna, so this one of probably overkill for my location. None the less, it works well and I have to give it 5 stars for doing its job for over one year now.
Fed Ex messed up the order.......2007-03-08
On January 31, 2007 I ordered the TERK HDTVLP Indoor / Outdoor TV and HDTV Antenna [Electronics] with expedited shipping so I would have it in time for the Super Bowl. Fed Ex messed up my address twice and wasn't going to get it to me until 2/ 5, the day after the game. On Friday Feb 2 I told Fed Ex to return the package as I had bought an antenna from Best Buy. They still delivered it to me anyways. I brought it to a Fed Ex store and they sent it back. As of 2/23 Ritz Camera had received the package back and told me I would be credited shortly. It has now been 2 weeks and my card has not shown any activity from Ritz Camera. A Nasty call will occur tomorrow if credit is not applied by then.

Amazon.com Product Description
The high-performance HDTVa amplified indoor HDTV antenna from Terk Technologies is designed to capture both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 to 69) while extending the reception range for all local HDTV broadcasts. The HDTVa uses an ultra-low-noise, high-gain amplifier with Terk's exclusive Dual-Drive Amplifier technology for clear reception of both distant and close HDTV and DTV stations.
As suitable for those living in city apartments as for those in suburban homes, the compact HDTVa lets viewers experience HDTV broadcasts in full resolution. Designed for total reception versatility, the HDTVa's high-gain antenna array can be oriented either horizontally or vertically within its mounting base to achieve optimum capture of off-air broadcasts.
Set the amplifier to high-gain mode to compensate for signals that are too weak or might otherwise be bypassed for a stronger signals nearby. Simplifying your installation, the HDTVa uses Terk's Power Injector to derive power via its coaxial connecting cable. The result? One cable is all you have to connect, making it easy to install the HDTVa atop or near your television.
The antenna is engineered to receive all local HDTV channels, with an operating bandwidth covering both the UHF (channels 2 to 13) and VHF (channels 14 to 69) frequency ranges. Its highly directional log periodic UHF and precision VHF elements are designed to receive HDTV broadcasts with maximum signal strength while rejecting all or most interference. The HDTVa is as exceptional in appearance as it is in performance: its curved, tapering, polished-aluminum antenna elements are mounted in a slim base with a contoured front that visually complements the curve of the antenna elements.

LOUSY antenna, and POOR design! .......2007-09-27
I purchased this antenna to pull in free, over-the-air HD digital broadcasts on my Sony HDTV here in the Cleveland metro market. I am located only 8 to 12 miles from the UHF transmitters (most HD programming is in fact carried on UHF frequencies... only one in my area - NBC, is on VHF), and despite pointing the antenna elements in the direction of the transmitters (both horizontally and vertically polarized), I could only receive less than half the listed HD stations for my area. NBC (only HD station on VHF) and CBS would not come in at all. In fact, my cheap, twelve dollar unamplified RCA 'rabbit ears' and 'UHF loop' antenna I purchased at my local 'China Mart' received more stations than this way overrated 'Terk'! In addition, what was 'Terk' thinking when they designed this thing? The base is not large enough to adequately support the antenna in many situations, and it topples over frequently. They should make the bottom portion of the base unit larger. Also, they mounted the amplification on/off switch and amplifier about 2 inches from the screw on connector, where the coaxial cable is connected to the back of your TV. How are we supposed to turn the amplification unit off when not in use, in an often highly inaccessible area? Even if the unit doesn't use much electricity, it's nice to know that we can easily access and turn the unit on and off when we leave the house for 'peace of mind'. Many HDTV's are placed against a wall or in an entertainment center, where it is difficult or next to impossible to access the Terk's on/off switch! Considering all of the above factors, this unit is WAY overrated and lacking, and of poor design. Look elswhere for a more effective and functional HDTV antenna.
Works Great.......2007-09-27
I have no complaints. I live over 40 miles from the TV stations the antenna picks up. I even have the antenna concealed in a cabinet and it still picks up most broadcasts. A great way to get free HD.
Good for an indoor antenna.......2007-09-27
Works good at night, but on the same channel in the same position, during the day the reception is much worse.
Solid reception and appealing design.......2007-09-27
I got two of these, hoping to get my local channels in HD since my DirecTV receivers are older.
Antenna is easy to setup and looks nice. It's not too big so that is dominates the room. Enhancer is a nice feature and it helps. It's probably the best antenna that I have bought.
I would have given it 5 stars had I been able to get ABC. That's probably due to my location. But I got pretty much everything else in nice, crisp, clean picture.
Ok receptions but a bit bulky and takes up spaces.......2007-09-24
Receptions are ok but not great. I got 60 (out of 100) on signal strength with this antenna. It's not stable and and takes up space, there are some compact antenna that fits nicely in small space

Terk Technology TV-5 Low Profile Indoor Antenna - You might think an indoor TV antenna is as outdated and useless as the 8-track tape, but think about it for a minute. If you have satellite TV you know the joys of having your service knocked out during a storm, cable TV sometimes goes out of whack as well, & some people simply do not want $50 a month in television channels. All are great reasons to pick up an indoor antenna like the Terk TV-5. This specific antenna has a great low profile design which stands just 4 3/4" high and fits inside most television cabinets. In addition to that, the built-in video selector is a great convenience - letting you switch between broadcast TV & a video source (ie: DVD, VCR or video game).

TERK TV5 vs. RCA ANT1250.......2007-09-23
I did a side by side comparision the Terk TV5 and RCA ANT1250. Both perform near identical for digital tv reception. In El Paso, TX I have digital 11 VHF HDTV digital channels and 5 HDTV digital UHF. The TERK amplifier helped the UHF channels(one channel that had no reception went to 100% with the amplifier turned on) but had no impact(positive or negative) on the 13 lower VHF channels. The RCA amplifier is terrible and actually causes a lose of all reception when the amplifier was enabled but for some reason the RCA antenna works pretty good as long as it is plugged in and the switch is set to bypass mode.
Both antennas were able to receive all channels without re-adjustment. Average strength for the TERK TV5 was 73.5 (weakest was 63 and strongest was 100); Average strength for RCA ANT1250 was 72 (weakest was 65 and strongest was 99).
The RCA is a dish and 2 rabbit ears and it was extremely difficult finding the optimal mechanical position. The Terk was much easier and seemed to be a better omni-directional antenna. But again net effect was only equal performance. So don't buy the TERK if you are looking for some amazing performance boost in your current antenna, but if you don't have an antenna and want to see if you can receive with just an indoor antenna, then the TERK is a good choice.
Poor Performer.......2007-09-23
This antenna did not work any better than old fashioned "rabbit ears".
I am 19 miles from the tower farm. Tried this near a window on the ground floor of my suburban single family home. No adjustment of poston or amplification made any improvment.
Best rabbit ears.......2007-09-13
Down with cable and satellite companies. I got only one fuzzy channel with other powered rabbit ears. This one got me more than 12 analog channels, many of them quite sharp. These Terk guys really know something about antenna design!
Great product - I can't say enough about it.......2007-08-22
I live in NE Fort Worth, Texas and it brings in the channels from about 30 miles away that look great. No big deal to set up either. I like the way it looks too. Of course the wife doesn't, go figure.
I bought it and used the google checkout to save $10. So with free shipping it was around $25. The only thing and this is probably a problem with all of them is I have to use an AB switch with my cable.
not worth it.......2007-08-09
It could not get reception even though I live across the street from a television station. My broken ugly rabbit ears receives 10X better picture.

Wow - It works!.......2007-09-27
What else is there to say? It works great too! I couldn't stand listening to all the static on my expensive stereo system when I listened to AM. I hooked up the Terk AM 1000, dialed in the frequency to WLS (talk radio), and I have never heard it sound this good. Actually I first bought the Terk FM Pro 50, but I had my doubts. I had no doubts after I hooked it up so I ordered the AM 1000 as well. Where can I get paid for this???? I would have given it 5 stars but I don't like having to dial in to the station I listen to for best reception. I only listen to WLS talk radio on AM so it is really no bother to me.
I can finally listen to my favorite AM station at work !!!.......2007-09-10
I work in a Panorama City hospital here in Southern California. I decided to bring in my Eton SL350DL and listen to my favorite AM station, 1150 KTLK. Long story short, the distance from the broadcast tower along with the thick brick walls of the hospital made the station almost inaudible. After reading about this antenna i decided to try it. I brought in, hooked it up and started moving it around my desk. After i found the "sweet spot" .... SUCCESS!! I can finally listen to my station. There is a faint hiss in the background but i didn't expect it to sound perfect either. I hope this review helps.
Nice external AM antenna.......2007-09-07
This works well with my Sangean WR-2. I can pull in weaker AM stations and have them sound a bit better, day or night. It does not, however, make the weak fringe stations much more listenable--the static is amplified with the signal--but I expected as much from this antenna. It does, after all, have to obey the laws of physics.
I would like to point out that when this antenna is used in the "wireless" mode, it does make a dramatic difference. When placed next to a cheaper portable radio, the AM-1000 Advantage can boost the signal significantly for weaker stations. It can compensate for the cheaper internal AM antennas found in the pocket radios, though this difference is not as obvious with my Sangean WR-2, which has excellent reception capabilities to begin with.
AM reception improved.......2007-08-31
This device clearly works but does not necessarily produce miraculous results. While I was able to pull in several stations which previously were inaudible, the ambient static was still too annoying for any decent listening pleasure.
Terk AM Advantage Antenna.......2007-08-25
I live in a high-rise apartment building and I have a problem receiving AM reception. I connected the antenna to the terminals on my Stereo receiver, tuned the antenna for optimum reception and the signal strength meter went to maximum. Worked for me.
Product Description
TERK HD-TVi -- The acknowledged leader in antenna technology has just introduced their first-ever Indoor HDTV Antenna. The high performance HDTVi is the only indoor antenna that receives both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 - 69), providing reception of all local HDTV broadcasts.
Amazon.com Product Description
With over 1,000 stations in more than 200 markets broadcasting digital television as of 2003, 9 out of 10 households can now receive free high-definition (HDTV) signals when using the right antenna in conjunction with an integrated HDTV (or with a set-top box and an HD-ready television). Most antennas are large and unwieldy and need to be mounted outdoors or in a cramped attic. This is not an option if you live in an apartment or condo, or if you don't want the hassle of installing an antenna yourself. The solution? A quality indoor antenna that can pick up all local HDTV channels; one that will look great next to your television, and one that is easy to install: Terk's HDTVi indoor antenna.
At the time of its release, the HDTVi was (and may yet be) the only indoor HDTV antenna optimized for both UHF and VHF reception, channels 2 to 69. The HDTVi elegantly solves the aesthetic challenge of integrating a log-periodic-type element assembly in an indoor antenna. It's tuned for optimum HDTV reception with a unique design that uses log-periodic elements and dipoles for receiving both UHF and VHF HDTV broadcasts, bringing you more stations than lesser antennas.
You can easily route the antenna's output cable in 2 directions (front or back) for flexible cable management, and the antenna connects easily to your set-top box or television (integrated HDTV--with built-in ATSC tuner--required for direct connection).
Its high gain picks up distant stations and its high back-to-front ratio rejects unwanted signals. You can mount the UHF antenna element vertically or horizontally, as experience dictates.
What's in the Box
Antenna with integrated 75-ohm cable, instruction manual, and warranty information.
Customer Reviews:
Well, it's not like there was no warning........2007-09-09
It didn't work...at all. I tried it from each side of my home, but still nothing. I like in Southern CT, but still about 15 minutes away from NYC so you'd expect something, but no, nothing. Took a risk and failed. Hope you don't go doing the same.
Very good for what it is.......2007-09-02
Like all antennas to get the best picture on a particular station this antenna requires that it be adjusted or moved, so you will need a large flat surface with good clearance to allow for the telescoping antennas to extend or be relocated. This antenna does a reasonably good job of picking up standard definition stations over the air. It does an outstanding job of picking up High Definition signals. My biggest complaint is the extremely small support base of the product. With the antennas extended it is top heavy and very difficult to keep in one place or keep it from toppling over, a very poor design.
Nice Compact VHF/UHF Antenna - Great for ATSC/OTA - DTV feeds when roof/attic antenna is not available.......2007-08-29
This is great little antenna if you do not have a roof or attic antenna available to you.
On thing to Note is that there is NO SUCH THING AS AN HD ANTENNA. The over the air HD broadcasts are still using the UHF and VHF frequency bands. That means an UHF/VHF antenna will pick up the signal. Don't pay more money because somebody put HDTV in the name.
Works great for me.......2007-07-11
I've had the Terk HDTVi plugged into my DirecTV HD DVR for a few days now and I'm very impressed with the results. I live in a rural area that is 25+ miles from two large metro areas, one to the west and one to the east, that have a number of tv stations broadcasting digital signals. This antenna has added about 30 more stations, all digital, to my lineup. I'm now getting pristine HD for all the local channels that DirecTV wasn't giving me. Full disclosure: I'm at a high point in the county where I live, so I'm not fighting very much terrain to get these signals. I also have to occasionally get my rear end off the couch to move the antenna a tiny bit to pick up a channel for which the antenna is searching for the signal. This might have more to do with where I have placed the antenna. Nevertheless, that is small trade off for adding a bunch more HD channels to my viewing experience.
A decent option for combined VHF/UHF reception.......2007-06-10
I purchased this antenna to use in my apartment complex. I had been using an el-cheapo VHF antenna (which was able to pull in several digital stations.) Looking at reception from the VHF (analog) side, this antenna is no better than a $7 unit at Walmart. I don't receive analog stations any better than I used to. If most of the stations you watch of in the VHF spectrum, you might be better off with a cheaper antenna.
However, on the UHF side, this antenna is pretty effective. I am able to pull in many HD digital stations here in Denver with excellent clarity....even living in an apartment complex with no line of sight. The antenna is VERY sensitive to placement though. Moving the unit one foot in either direction would result in good reception to a near loss of signal. You will have to experiment to get the best reception. I would recommend investing in a longer cable so you can get the antenna exactly where it needs to be. For a non-amplified unit (with no line of sight,) I couldn't have expected any better performance. For UHF reception, this antenna is pretty darn good.
The antenna is somewhat large, so you will need a dedicated spot for it. It appears to be well constructed. While the VHF reception of this unit is no better than the cheapest antennas, the ability to receive both VHF and UHF well makes this a good buy.

Not magic but very good.......2007-09-23
Well, it isn't magic and it didn't pick up the channels I couldn't pick up with my previous antenna but it was clearer and not as tempermental.
Great antenna.......2007-09-12
I recently turned my cable off in an attempt to save some money and I bought a $15 antenna at Walmart to try to get some local channels. I live in Phoenix and expected to get several. I got about 2 with a ton of snow. So I started looking for a better antenna and after reading the great reviews about this one decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I now get about 15 channels pretty clearly (I do have to adjust the antenna for each channel but I'm OK with that). I think I'm going to have to buy another for the TV in my bedroom!
TERK TV ANTENNA.......2007-09-09
Service in recieving the antenna was great. Antenna itself is no more than so so....but it was not overly expensive so my expectations were only moderate.
Reviews I read raving about this antenna must have been written by the manufactuer. Reception on the old analog channels is much worse than the ten year old rabbit ears I pirated off an old TV to use. I get more channels, but only one of them is watchable, others are all static.
Does digital reception, which the rabbit ears didn't, but those channels tend to break up / digitalize a lot.
Bought annother TERK antenna a few years ago, which I paid a lot more for, that was suppose to be the high tech ultimate.....went in the trash after about two weeks.
Just OK.......2007-08-23
I heard alot of good things about this antenna but it is just OK. Nothing great. I get a few channels but usually have to readjust the antenna for clarity.
Very pleased with my purchase.......2007-07-12
I've been able to receive good pictures from even the weakest channels that were formerly pure static. You are not going to get crystal clear pictures on all channels, but you will see a marked improvement in reception. Recommend.

TV-55 Amplified Antenna.......2007-09-07
Poor design for the coax connector - on the side, waste of cable, and a little trouble for routing of the cabling.
Amplification is good, would like to see more for larger home - needs more amplification for far rooms. This on does not have enough amplification to pick up channels for my master bedroom upstairs.
Easy to install, easy to set up (line of sight).
Overall, good product for the money.

The antenna amplifier work great even in indoor where I am using it right now at downtown San Francisco. I live in a 6 storey building and I am on
the fourth floor surrounded by tall building around and was able to pull
in about 14 clear on air HDTV channel.
Rabbit Ears Work Better.......2007-05-14
The reception on a small TV in the kitchen with rabbit ears was rather poor so I bought this amplified antenna and mounted it near the ceiling behind plastic blinds pointing (broadside) toward the transmitters ~ 25 miles away. The reception was terrible (next to non-existent). I'm still using rabbit ears. A Winegard Sensar III GS-2200 in the attic of my ranch style house works great through a splitter to two other TVs.

Terk Satellite Radio 50' Indoor/Outdoor Antenna Ext Cable.......2006-03-17
Received the item promptly. It was as advertised. All connections were easily done. And it has worked flawlessly since it received it. I would recommend it to anyone who needs an extended lenth to receive xm signals.
Works well BUT.............2006-02-19
It is a very good product ,but the problem I had was that all of my antenna's connectors are 90deg. You can still use it like this but the rubber boot will not cover the connection. I purchased another antenna and still had to remove parts to get it to work.It was kind of a pain but wish I could have found more specifications before my purchase.
