This Calculator is great for your math needs, and the games are fun for a little relaxation. It only lacks the absolute value signs, but it is easy to work and requires little skill to operate. I would recommend it to anyone.

As a math teacher, I LOVE this calculator better than any of the other graphing calculators and would recommend it as a great high school or college calculator. It has the capability of any other calculator (even the advanced stuff if you want to take the time to learn how). The basic stuff is EASY to get to and quite user friendly. You can use it on the ACT and SAT (and the AP calculus exam) with no problems. I have also used and taught with the TI-82, TI-83, TI-92, and some of the HP calculators (I really struggle with the HP notation), but this calculator is far and away the very best one!
TI-84 Silver Plus.......2007-06-20
This is a great tool. It is complicated and I highly recommend getting the two "Dummies" Guides. But, when you learn how to use it, this is an amazing tool. I really liked the Study Cards, and use this feature often to create new stacks. Used this for Algebra II and Chemistry, and it was the most important study tool for Chemistry. The TI website offeres quite a few excellent study stacks, and creating your own is pretty easy. Bummer that the TI-83 doesn't have a USB port, so that version cannot download new programs. On the TI website there are a lot of "manuals" in PDF form. From what I understand, this calculator is allowed in most testing scenarios, where the Titanium is banned. Spend the extra money and get the TI-84 silver plus!

Quality isn't what it used to be, but old habits do die hard. If you can't function in an algebraic mode, this is still the RPN calculator for you. Much faster than my now dead Gold 12c too.

So I bought this to backup some info on my MacBook Pro and thought it would be ok. It would start off just fine, but then would just freeze on me and crap out halfway through. I let it run for a long time, just to make sure it wasn't just a slow process. I ended up just buying a different hard drive. Very dissapointing.

Anyways, great hard drive. Syncs quickly and is great for storing my iTunes library and back up files. Very slim design, takes up minimal desk space. Seems like a good choice.

Enclosure failure and terrible "support".......2007-09-17
This hard drive worked fine at first but after about a month of use, it simply wouldn't power up when plugged in and turned on. I pulled the hard drive out of the enclosure and put it into another enclosure to verify that the problem was with the enclosure and not the hard drive and it worked fine in my enclosure. I contacted Iomega via their chat system and was told that since I opened the case I had voided the warranty and they wouldn't do anything for me. I will never purchase another iomega product again. The ironic thing is that I will probably spend more on a new enclosure than I did on the original hard drive itself!

I recently received the cam, and I was shocked at how clear my picture was even in low lighting. My only let down was the base... the camera has to be on top of the monitor. I guess I'll come up with an idea for a desk mount, like a little block of wood or something. But anyway definitely would recommend this camera, its worth every penny.

Sad. This is a average to below average 640x480 cam. There is no 4MP resolution as advertised. The best resolution it will do is 640x480. The rest is software produced which is not included and I still have not found yet. I am sure it wouldn't make the images much better any how. Scam, scam, scam. Avoid.

This is just like any other cam except the special features make up for it. It allows to have a lot of fun when talking with kids. The different avatars, the goofy facial accesories, or the way you can change the way the cam looks. If you are going to be buy a cam to talk with your family, your kids, or anyone that still acts like a kid then this is the cam for you.

It gives a clear picture. Right now I am still playing with the avatars. Great voice. I upgraded for the better features of this webcamera and I feel I have them in this. Pricey but well worth the expense.

The Deluxe is simple to use and prints quality photographs. Because of the pigment ink, the prints truly are water and smudge proof. I've had mine for over a year and just bought one for my mother before all the deluxe versions are gone. Not interested in the newer models as are not the same quality. My grandmother also just bought this printer as she really likes mine. Oh, it's not a good idea to insert an ink cartridge if you are only going to print a few photos then not use the printer for a long time. The cartridges dry rather quickly. By the way, I also have an HP All-in-One, but I found it too complicated and expensive to print smaller photos as I wasted paper and kept messing up the dimensions. The PictureMate is so straightforward.

Simply slide the single six-color ink cartridge--with cyan, yellow, magenta, black, red, and blue inks--into the slot in the back, load the photo paper, connect the power cord, and you're ready to print from a camera, external CD or ZIP drive, a USB memory key, or any type of memory card, although you'll need an adapter for miniSD cards and some Memory Stick formats. Now this is the kicker, it is cheaper to print them at Sam's Club for 12 cents per print, so I only purchased this because I can take it to scrap meets and print what I need when I need it. My other photos I send to Sam's Club or even Wal-Mart for nearly the same price of 12 cents. This is more of a convince thing for me. I purchased this mode for only 24.99 at Target where it normally retailed for 199.00 but it was on super clearance. This is what you have to weigh in on, convince for the price or what your pocket book can handle. It has come in handy for me at times and the prints come out nicely so it is a tossup for people on a budget!

The thing is beautiful, but the box and advertising seems to convey more OSX support than there actually is. Currently it only appears to work with Google Earth. I am a Blender user and a Second Life tinkerer, and hope this will support those apps before it goes obsolete. Deep searching of forums gets the occasional 3D connexion rep to type "we are looking into it but have no set plans at this time". Thanks, guys.
The driver installation needs refactoring too. install disc > prompted to check for upgrades > get sent to site > download new driver > install > get prompted to check for upgrades (??) > configure > stare at useless thing on table.
Truly remarkable!.......2007-09-16
I didn't get this for the reason that many folks would get this (i.e. to use in 3D authoring applications). Instead, I got this because I'm a software developer and love to tinker with input devices like this, and I wanted to use this to emulate the behavior of a mouse, and so my review is focused primarily on the ergonomics of the device itself. In short, it does what it's designed to do very well!
The first thing you'll probably notice is that this thing is HEAVY! You'll know it isn't intended to be used like a mouse as soon as you pick it up. Instead, it sits stationary on a surface -- aided by a rubber-like ring on the bottom to keep it from slipping around-- where you control it by pressing gently on the rubberized cap in the desired direction.
If you're like me, I don't think it'll take you long to get used to the SpaceNavigator's sleek & stylish appearance. With a brushed finish to the heavy metal (stainless steel?) base, and with a cool blue glow emanating from underneath the control cap, it lends a distinctively sophisticated air to any desktop.
Translation along and rotation around each of the axes is EXTREMELY smooth and precise, with literally hundreds of distinct degrees of sensitivity (i.e. between 350 & 450) in each direction, and yet the comfortable rubberized cap doesn't have to be moved very far to achieve such fine control. The deadzone is VERY small, with input being registered at even the SLIGHTEST touch in any direction -- which is quite ideal, considering how this is intended to be used. However, unlike all joysticks that I've ever used, the deadzone is consistently at exactly the same spot every time! Considering all these things, I think this really says a lot about the high quality of the product! These great features make for a really enjoyable and immersive experience while using the SpaceNavigator.
Although I've never used this in any of the supported 3D authoring applications, I have really enjoyed using it in Google Earth. Never has navigating in 3D been so surprisingly & captivatingly intuitive! If my experience with the SpaceNavigator in Google Earth is any indicator of how well it performs in other 3D applications, then I have no doubt that this is clearly one of the best products on the market for intuitively manipulating either an object or camera in 3D.
As a programmer, it was nice to see that this product has a well-documented API and that it seems to be well-supported.
The little control panel application that installs with the driver seems adequate for most purposes, but for those looking for more advanced features might find it lacking.
Each of the 2 buttons can be assigned to one of a number of functions, but with only 2 buttons, don't expect to be able to do much customizing.
It certainly can't replace a mouse, and it does take some getting used to, but it has really grown on me even in the short time I've had it!
I really am quite impressed with the overall quality of this product. Really the only other feature that I can think of which would make the SpaceNavigator PE significantly more useful than it already is would be for it to sport more than only 2 buttons. (But I guess if I were willing to pay about 3 times the price, I could get the SpaceTraveller which has 8 buttons!)
So if you're like me and enjoy trying out new input devices, or if you're interested in finding a more efficient & intuitive way to use one of the supported applications -- even if it's only Google Earth -- then I say just get it! I doubt you'll regret it!
Flimsy & inconvenient.......2007-09-13

* It indeed feels cool to control Google Earth with it.
* To a degree, senses your force, i.e. the further you push the knob, the faster the object on the screen moves, although the gradations are few.
Contra:
* It feels very flimsy. I'm afraid it would break in no time.
* It is VERY HARD to make it do precisely what you want. For example, when you try to pan, you will eventually fall into tilting, even though you didn't mean to. Tilting similarly tends to turn into zooming, and so on.
* The springs are too tight. After just about 10 minutes, my muscles are aching.
* The device isn't supported "natively". As you know, you can plug in any mouse, joystick, keyboard, etc., and Windows will recognize the device and make use of it immediately. Not with this one, it requires software download (the CD has obsolete version)
* That software download size is ENORMOUS!!! 100+ Mb!!! Come on guys, the whole 3D Studio package took less than that a couple years ago, but 100MB for a freaking DRIVER??? You oughtta be kidding.
So all in all, you better buy a 6-axis joystick.
Why?.......2007-09-12
I won this product in a computer aided design contest, and I eagerly awaited receiving it. When I did, I immediately wondered what the point of it was. I work as a design engineer, and most of my work is done in SolidWorks. But I just don't see any real use for this product, even if it worked well...
The basic concept of this device is you use your non-mouse hand to control the orientation of an object in 3d space using the SpaceNaviagor, while still using the mouse to do other things. This is not possible. You really can only do one at a time (unless you can somehow look in two different places at once). If it was significantly difficult to orient an object with a mouse, maybe this product would be useful (save you some time opening up menus, etc), however, it's not. Simply by holding down the middle mouse button I can rotate the view of the object with my mouse in Solid Works. Most other programs have similar shortcuts. It's also a lot easier to use a mouse than with the SpaceNavigator. I don't think this is a matter of a learning curve either. It is just hard to use the SpaceNavigator.
The product is heavy, but not heavy enough. You end up lifting it off the table while using it, which gets frustrating. It's also both too sensitive, and not sensitive enough, all at the same time.
I like the look of this thing. I like having it on my desk ("Wow, that guy must be good, look at that fancy mouse thing!"). But I don't like using it, and I can't recommend it to anyone, definitely not at this price. If I had bought it I would have returned it, but it's free so I'll keep it.
In the end, it works, but not well. It has good driver support and most every program I load up supports it (Rhino, SolidWorks, Inventor, etc), but it's a product with no real market segment.
PS-I did have fun flying through google earth with it though ;-)

I got this unit to work with my computer at home. I work with Solidworks and photoshop and had read about this unit. Well I got it and it is great. It takes a little getting used to, at least for me, in solidworks, and I love the way you can zoom in and out so easily in photoshop. It also works great with the image viewer that comes with windows, and google earth. Considering the home edition is cheaper than the mouse I own, I think this is a great addition.
No problems after a month, installation was easy, and it looks cool on the desk.

Choose the quick load and it is simple. Be sure you have a high speed connection because there lots of updates for this version. There isn't any manuals or documentation, but if you can load a disk and choose the quick load there no problems. If you're familiar with XP this is a great low cost option.

This item is useless to me. I purchased it to install Windows XP on my new iMac using VmWare with Mac OS-X. It came without an activation code required by Microsoft, so it could not be installed. Tiger Direct refused to do anything about this and Amazon would only refund my money plus a small promotional certificate.
This does not begin to compensate me for the trouble and delays in making full use of my computer.

Windows XP is faster, more stable and runs more programs than Windows Vista. This version of Windows is a must for running many games or some old programs that do not function correctly under Vista.
It's not the most fantastic operating system ever, but seems better than Vista to me.

I also bought this for a new iMac and it runs better in it than any versioon of windows has on PC I've owned. This is my first Mac by the way. Installed easily and had no problems. OEM version worked just as well as the regular version. Not quite sure the difference really but the price.

A DUD!!! DO NOT BUY!.......2007-09-24
I got a MyBook Essential Edition as a gift from a friend. It was a DUD. The computer would not recognise it and so I followed all the instructions on the website and in the user manual. As a last resort, I called customer service. They verified that it was a DUD and told me that they could send me a replacement if I give them a credit card number to hold while I return the DUD. Because I only had a debit card, they said that would work just fine BUT they would DEDUCT the cost of the REPLACEMENT drive from my card until the DUD arrived there.
An absolute ripoff!! I have spent the whole day crying over this STUPID HARD DRIVE and I will definately NEVER deal with WESTERN DIGITAL again! Their product AND their service STINK!

....my computer would have recognized it. Spent hours trying to get it to work. Reading someone elses review, I now see that I'm not the only one. Something about certain adapter cards not being compatable. Very annoying, wish they said that on the box. Returned it to Bestbuy. Got a LACIE hard drive-much cheaper and worked right away.
WD MyBook Premium HDD 500gb.......2007-06-22
The WD premium 500gb harddisk is compact, has a good amount of storage space and is fast and reliable. It has a nominal 7,200 RPM speed and 16mb buffer. Noise/ heat emanating from the unit is low. There is a handy AUTO sleep/ wakeup feature.
The difference between this and the Essential edition is the FireWire 400 and capacity guage in the Premium edition.
However, as many others have mentioned before, the inner blue ring meant to be the Capacity Gauge gets a lot of background light from the outer ring, and hence its function is still in doubt for me.
But, considering performance, reliability and storage-this is a great drive to archive files-for students, professionals and home users alike.
This unit isn't small enough for travel use though. So, I use a 120gb WD Passport for that. The real difference is the USB powerup in the passport (but slower R/W speed) vs the Power cord in the MyBook (with higher transfer speeds.)
Functionality vs. quality.......2007-04-29
Description: The WDG1SU5000 MyBook ES Edition drive is an external 500GB hard-drive with two interfaces - eSata and USB2. It has a led display at the front ("capacity gauge") which is supposed to indicate the remaining free space.
Functionality: the drive was instantly recognized when I plugged it into the USB2 port. When the computer is turned off the drive automatically goes into "sleep" mode.
Noise: I had to change the first drive I received. It was vibrating so strongly that when placed on a table it made a rather loud and irritating low-pitched humming noise. I placed the drive on a sponge to prevent the table from resonating. In order to keep the drive from falling (it is supposed to stand on its narrow side), I laid it down on its wide side, which the WD web-site claims is OK to do. After two days, while still functioning, the drive started making annoying buzzing noises. Placing the drive back on its narrow side stopped the noise for about two hours and then the noise came back again.
I replaced the drive. The second one I received and still possess does not vibrate so strongly and can be placed on the table without humming noticeably. However, when the drive head jumps back and forth (while reading, for example), the drive makes rather strong creaking noises. I placed it again on a sponge and it became quieter. I do not try again to lay it down on its wide side.
The LED capacity gauge: I have installed the gauge driver as required. it is very hard to notice anything on the capacity display. The "gauge" consists of two rings - the outer ring indicates that the drive is working and the inner is supposed to show how much free space remains. The problem is that the outer ring is not isolated from the inner one and its light actually illuminates the inner ring from the inside, making the free-space display too hard to read and practically unusable.
Support: I have posted a question on the Western-Digital WDC site concerning the capacity gauge and received a list of automatically generated links which have nothing to do with the question. I tried to get their attention on the web and through emails, filling forms as required and replying to automatic emails as indicated, but to no avail. Finally I gave up.
Pros: USB2 and eSata interfaces (I have not tried the eSata). Auto "sleep" mode. Price.
Cons: somewhat unstable and noisy. Difficult to get support. Capacity gauge is only a gimmick. Does not get its power from the USB port - needs to be plugged into the electricity.
A Good Price, But Be Careful..........2007-04-05
This drive will probably work fine on most windows systems. It did not on mine. (I'm running XP on an older IBM computer, using an accessory Adaptec USB 2.0 IDE card to connect to high-speed USB devices.)
Plug-and-Play did not work for this drive. After hours of struggling to make the computer "see" the drive, increasingly frustrated, cursing WD and about to return it, I found a small troubleshooting note buried deep in WD's support web site saying that it was incompatible with certain Adaptec USB cards. Naturally mine was one of them. Oh, well hey -- they should have put that on a bright red warning label on the outside of the box.
I ended up installing an additional USB 2.0 card (IOGear brand, thank you) that I needed anyway, and then the WD hard drive worked fine immediately. If you're using an eSATA connection you shouldn't have this problem, but I haven't tried it.
The drive has a low, resonant hum when it's on, always there but not too annoying. The circular blue lights on the front swirl around when the drive is being accessed, cute but unnecessary... a standard little blinking LED would do fine. The button on the front is *not* an on/off button (What is it with drive manufacturers who don't put on/off buttons on their hardware? Would that be so hard?) In fact, when your press the button the blue lights just swirl around some more and then come back on, nothing seems to change. Even though it's supposed to be a "safe power-down" button, apparently you have to have the proprietary driver installed to get it to work. Likewise, the inner concentric ring is supposed to show disk usage percentage, but doesn't without the driver. The drive is not smart enough to do these things on its own. I am against adding anything silly and unnecessary to my system so I haven't installed that driver or the free backup software that came with it.
Note to Western Digital: Very pretty, very clever. But in the future perhaps skip the cleverness, go with simple and functional, and make sure your hardware is compatible. I have two other external hard drives, a Maxtor and a SimpleTech, not to mention a half dozen other USB devices, and they all work fine with the Adaptec USB2.0 IDE card. Do you think I'm going to buy another WD hard drive? NOT.

Bought it on the 11th, and it's dead on the 26th. It was fine up until then - speedy, convenient, small, attractive, lightweight, and ran nicely with my Dell laptop. But a dead hard drive is less than worthless, it's a true pain. Now I have to recover everything from backups. Blah.

I bought this about a month ago and so far it has worked great. The additional power connection (on the cable included in the package) to a second USB slot was necessary on my laptop (Dell Inspiron) but is not needed in any of my other desktop computers. Comes with software on the HD that can be installed for additional features like password protection, one-touch backups etc. I filled 80% of the drive and still I see no speed issues. Thumbs up!
A Very Nice Portable Hard Drive.......2007-08-21
This portable hard drive has quickly become the favorite of my collection. It reads and writes at reasonable speeds, is easy to maintain (formatted it for NTFS and use PerfectDisk 8.0 to defrag), instantly mounts on all my workstations (Windows 2000, NT 4 with a 3rd party USB driver, and XP Pro), and - best of all - doesn't require an external power supply (unlike my 3.5" drives). It's quick enough to run simple applications from, and real-time Triple-DES or AES-Twofish-Serpent encryption (I use TrueCrypt, free) without choking or generating too much heat. It's just as fast with sequential read/writes as most of my other portable hard disks, though is slightly slower at random read/write by a slim margin.
Several tricks I used to get my read/write speeds up on my Maxtor OneTouch III Mini (and all my drives, in general) were to disable short file names, increase my cluster size to 32Kb (I generally save large media files), slightly increasing the size of the MFT (Master File Table), push the MFT back on the disk so it has room to grow, disable "last access time" feature, and disable indexing service (I have a 3rd party app to search for files). I don't run native NTFS compression, instead using WinRAR (with PAR2 parity files) if I need to save space safely and effectively. Google any of these tricks to find out how to do them.
I haven't tried the pack-in software - Generally, there's always a better 3rd party app to do the job. Still, I hear it works as advertised.
I think the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini is a very handy little portable drive, that works especially well if configured and maintained properly. It performs respectably, compared to high-end 2.5" portables or T1 non-volatile memory - but costing considerably less per GB. Larger portables, featuring 3.5" hard drives, seem to have a slight edge in performance and cost-per-GB, but aren't nearly as convenient to carry around. The Maxtor OneTouch III Mini's reasonable cost, respectable performance, small size, light weight, and no need for an external power supply are much appreciated.
60 cents a gig !.......2007-08-17
i bought this on sale for $89.99
and with tax thats just under 60 cents per gbyte.
i used it to upgrade an older notebook that still
uses pata. it doesn't come with any drive installation
software, but you can download maxblast or seatools
separately to move your os and data to the onetouch.
inside is a 160gb seagate st9160821a oem 2.5-inch
notebook drive. swap the drives and now my laptop
hd doubled in size, and also went from 4200 2mb buffer
to 5400 8mb buffer. there is a slight and noticeable
performance improvement as a result. stick the old
80gb hd back into the onetouch case and you have a
nice extra utility drive. of course, all the
warranty is void now. but the seagate is working
like a champ.
Worst Portable Hard Drive Ever.......2007-08-07
This is my fifth portable (2.5") hard drive and by far the worst one. I bought this hard drive 2 months ago at BestBuy and compared to others (one WD Passport, three home-made with 2.5" internal drive and $10 enclosures), this one is EXTREMELY SLOW. Worst even, when you're using it every other program would be much slower; the CPU usage meter would not show why 'cause it's still at 2-3% usage. My computer is a reasonably fast system (Core 2 Duo E6300 with 2G memory for my desktop, T2300 with 1G memory for my laptop) but still suffers. No other portable hard drive, even the cheap home-made ones, have these problems.
