Amazon.com Product Description

Instantly transform your Handspring Visor into an MP3 player with the MiniJam Springboard module from InnoGear. Just drag-and-drop MP3 files from your desktop to the MiniJam using the included transfer program, then listen to CD-quality sound on your Visor--and you can even read e-books and view images.

The MiniJam is compatible with the Springboard external expansion slot from Handspring, which provides for fast, easy, plug-and-play installation of the MiniJam to the Visor. No software drivers or special adapters are needed.

Using the included 64 MB MultiMediaCard, you can store about 30 minutes of MP3 audio. The MiniJam comes with two MMC slots, allowing you to store up to 128 MB (using two 64 MB MMCs). It is compatible with both PC (Windows 98 or 2000) and Mac (Mac OS 9.0 or later) systems that support a USB connection. Transfer files from your desktop to your Visor with the easy-to-use MJLoader application.

The MiniJam comes preloaded with several multimedia applications. The MiniJukeBox MP3 player enables you to control all functions--such as play/pause, fast-forward/reverse, volume, playlist, and equalization--by tapping the Visor's screen. You can also access these functions via buttons on the top of the MiniJam module. Additionally, the MusicMatch Jukebox desktop application is included along with an upgrade code to MusicMatch Plus (a $19.95 value).

You can use the included Peanut Reader to store and read e-books, newspapers, and magazines, which can be downloaded from Peanutpress.com (most books use only a few hundred kilobytes). You can also transfer photos and images to view on your Visor using AlbumToGo from Club Photo. Images can be viewed individually or in a slide show format, and you can easily add notes and descriptions to images and beam files to other Palm OS handhelds.

5 out of 5 stars Best Springboard Module Ever!.......2006-12-25

InnoGear's MiniJam MP3 Player Named 'Springboard Module of the Year' by VisorCentral. (Business Wire)

MiniJam's large storage capacity -- up to 128 megabytes -- and will also soon allow for the storage of Palm OS applications, databases, and image files. In addition to playing music, The MiniJam is also an e-Book reader and an image/slide-show viewer.

MiniJam is a plug-and-play hardware device for the Handspring Visor Springboard expansion slot. 5 out of 5 stars Who needs a 40gb ipod?.......2005-01-03

This module can handle two 512MB MMC, totalling 1GB, I was able to fit 213 songs, that's more than 16 hours of 128kbps CD quality music. Hooked to a Prism, it played for 12 hours continuosly. I am so pleased w/ this player, I am going to purchase another one in case I break this accidentally. I wish they never discontinued the Handspring Prism. I just bought an Auterra OBDII scanner/dyno and can monitor my car's performance while listening to my MP3's!!!

4 out of 5 stars Great Use for a Redundant Handheld: MiniJam at the gym.......2002-02-15

I just got a MiniJam and attached it to my old handheld (Prism) for workouts at the gym. When I got the new Treo, my Prism threatened to become excess. Repurposing it for entertainment seemed to be the thing to do.

Intuitive Operation / Reasonable Setup
This is only the second Springboard module that I have used (Eyemodule was the first). I was pleased to find that MiniJam works intuitively. I am typically put off by set up procedures involving disks and devices, but it was painless. I would have been less daunted by set up if the instructions were printed as a simple 1, 2, 3 on the outside of the box instead of the junky graphics. The unit is a lot less junky than the pictures on the packaging seems to indicate. Once it was set up, it couldn't be easier to use. It is intuitive, taking advantage of the familiar icons of traditional products like a cassette tape player and (browser-style)juke box.

Function in the Gym Environment
OK, I wouldn't say that the earphones would never fall out; running on the treadmill would require a different listening apparatus. For my workouts, though, the MiniJam worked great. I am substituting it for a Walkman tape player, so the key benefits were being able to switch to songs that I felt like hearing without winding and longer battery life -- no more droning tape. The drawbacks were losing the earphones once during weightlifting and initially getting the Prism situated on me so that I didn't inadvertently bump the buttons.

Key Observation
When I got my first handheld, I didn't feel compelled to use module expansion. However, it's amazing how when I have two of them the primary one does all the calendaring and traditional functions and -- with the Springboard platform -- the second one gets used more as I imagine Handspring had intended: sort of a Swiss Army Knife of electronic products. I would have still kept the Prism for playing games (any Wordlet enthusiasts?), but it has a lot more life left in it than that.

I recommend the MiniJam. It's just what you'd expect your Springboard MP3 player to be.

2 out of 5 stars Battery-hogger, slow to store and buggy.......2001-10-01

I tried this thing out for two weeks.
4 weak points:

1. It takes soo long to transfer music to it.
30 minutes per 1 hour of music. This is a drain on the batteries and your time.

2.It's buggy. It Hard-Reset (losing everything on my handspring) my Handspring twice, the thing soft-resets my Handspring soo often, either by taking it out of the springboard slot before it's good and ready, or it just freezes. The User-interface could be much better.

3.It sucks batteries like you won't believe.
It suggests you get special "NiMH" batteries that are $$$ for two, plus you have to get a recharger, so that it can play longer. Using normal Alkaline batteries, you need to stop listening every bit of time so the batteries don't kill too fast. Otherwise it'll die without warning.

4. Serious design compromises. Not being able to put the cover back on the handspring sucks. Also, it really adds to the size and weight of the Handspring.

There is one minor element: Compact Flash cards are still very expensive, although the price will down with time.

3 out of 5 stars Real disappointment.......2001-04-27

To sum it up: it's not a bad little player, just disappointing in almost every way! Get yourself a stand alone module with more memory.

I'm returning my InnoGear module. What a disappointment. I listened to music for about 10 minutes and wiped out almost a third of my battery. The file transfer can only access the 2 MB section of the module, not the removable (and expensive!) media. Data transfer is slow and I'd recommend no less that 128 MB storage for reasonable listening. I had planned to keep this module in all the time but when it is in you can't put on the protective cover. The photos in the photo album are awful on my b/w screen-- not worth the time it takes to load them.

It simply doesn't live up to the hype.

2 out of 5 stars Not quite there.......2002-01-17

The playback of the music on this unit sounds good. It has many problems that outweigh this positive. The worst problem is that it caused my Handspring to lock up quite often causing a soft reset and sometimes a hard reset. It also ate batteries very quickly. I even got a AC adaptor when I was loading the files and a AC adaptor for the car. It still used batteries too quickly.
Also, It takes way too long to load mp3 files on onto it. Innogear was offering a speedloader to load the mmc file faster. Minijam uses a propietary format on the mmc card so you can't just buy any mmc card reader.
You cannot store any kind of file except for mp3 on the mmc cards either.
This is a product that has potential if Innogear will address all of the above problems.

4 out of 5 stars fine, useful and cheapest way to listen your favorite ones.......2002-11-26

OK, at the beginning you don't receive many clear instructions about how to handle your mini jam; some problems to realize how it's the better way to use it, but finally when you get through you got a very cool little tool which is much fun than others (and comparatively much cheaper too -you don't use any battery at all!)The only handicap: it takes you about 30 minutes to load your music on it.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing but problems.......2002-10-07

I've had nothing but problems with my minijam. First it wouldn't work when I put it in my Visor. It's supposed to just power up but it wouldn't. When it finally did, I encountered one problem after another. Numerous times I've had to reset my visor, Re-install the palm desktop software, reformat the MM Card because all the songs mysteriously disappear and the card is suddenly unformatted, and I've had plenty of fatal errors which required re-booting my computer. The customer support is okay but now I'm supposed to pay shipping charges to send back the faulty product to Innogear. So if you do buy it don't purchase it directly from them! When it works it's fantastic but overall it's a major disappointment.

1 out of 5 stars Had Big Problems With Mine - Disable HOTSYNC???? WHAT???.......2001-12-27

The concept is great...the end result leaves a lot to be desired. For starters there is no installation info. Insert the disk and print out the Adobe instructions...CHEAP! Easy to install but you have to disable Hotsync on some...which was mine and it's only a year old. Then I would insert it in the back and it would play but when I set it down and I don't mean drop...set it down it would reset everything and give me a fatal error and reset my palm. Then I would have to turn my hotsync back on, sync up and try again. As for online help it's ok but nothing special. I don't recommend this product. If it's not built in already...don't add it.

5 out of 5 stars BUY THIS ITEM!!!!!.......2001-08-08

If you own a Visor handheld, I would purchase this item. It is great especially during the times you are doing things where you dont wanna be bothered. I use it where ever i go. It is really cool. Buy this, and you wont be let down.

4 out of 5 stars Best MP3 player for the Visor Handheld.......2001-04-28

I have been using this MiniJam for my Visor Platinum for the past month, and it's the only Spring Board Module I own. Although it's rather bulky, the sound that it offers is great! I do have two 64MB MMC cards installed into the MiniJam, to offer me with 128MB of MP3 audio. Depending on your point of view, 128MB can be big, or it can be small, depending on what bit-rate you "convert" your mp3's to. 128kbs being CD quality or 96kbs being near CD quality, it all affects the amount of songs that can be stored on your two MMC cards.

Always carry spare batteries with you, or opt to purchase Innogear's MiniJam Power Pak. The earphones that came with the unit totally sucked, as one of the ear buds did not work straight out of the box. Buy a "real" set of earphones/headphones.

I had no problems with software issues. Plays great all the time! I would highly recommend this unit to anyone with a Handspring Visor, although I could not give it 5 stars, as Innogear gave me an insight.....they will come out with their new version of the MiniJam, which will be smaller.

2 out of 5 stars Sounds great BUT..........2000-12-23

The sound is great on the MiniJam 64MB MP3 player but the user guide directions are vague. The guide illustrates step by step what to do but never discusses what to do in the event that their directions don't work. So naturally one would think to call technical support which is what I did after reading the guide and was still unable to download music to the player. Not only was I on the phone with a technical support woman for thirty minutes who didn't want to deal with the problem and kept directing me to the web page but then she mocked me in a silly voice to her coworkers as she poorly covered the phone. She claimed that I "didn't have time to read the guide" (I had told her that I was calling because I had read the guide and the instructions did not produce the result that it said it would) and mockingly bemoaned "it's not downloading" in a whiny voice. My question is, why the heck is there a technical support department if they don't want to support their products or help their customers? It was clear to me also that she was not familiar with the product enough to help me out adequately anyway. I really want to return it after that experience and after reading the other reviews about the glitches I am beginning to suspect that it truly is the MP3 player and not me, thus further encouraging me to return this item. I am going to give it one more chance but now I feel as if I can't call technical support for any useful advice.

2 out of 5 stars it's the best out there, but ..........2000-11-06

My MiniJam has crashed my Visor Handspring Platinum several times (any time I select "Playlist", for example), and when I asked Customer Support, was told that "a software release is scheduled for today, but as of my last check it hasn't been posted."

Also, it doesn't work when your PDA has gone into sleep mode, requiring you to stop in your tracks, turn it back on, futz with the stylus, and then operate the MiniJam controls if you want to adjust the volume, skip a track, etc. The MiniJam is really nice to work out or just walk around with, but it sure needs a helluva upgrade.

    4 out of 5 stars There's always a glitch!.......2000-10-05

This product would be considered a "5" out of "5 Stars" but unfortunately I can only give it a "4" account of the fact that InnoGear is shipping these units with a defect that does not allow complete formatting of addtional MMC cards which thereby limits the allowable storage capacity to 64mb's. This is a known-bug as confirmed by thier Tech-Support. Once this condition is rectified I will then give it a "5-Star Rating"

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent Product-Excellent Price.......2000-09-21

I was able to use this product straight from the box. 64mb of RAM is a good start (about 1 hr of CD quality music). The MiniJam is expandable to 128 MB. I love the included 'extras' like Music Match Jukebox and the ability to create your own MP3 files, the Peanut Reader, and Album to Go programs. The additional 2MB of file storage space is a definite plus, especially if you have the standard version of the Visor. The only negative is the flimsy leather case included with your Mini Jam-won't protect your Visor from a fall. Would strongly recommend an Otter Box to protect your Visor.

    Customer Reviews:

    4 out of 5 stars Good camera.......2007-04-01

This is a good camera for the money......I use a 35mm at times instead of my digital...this is great for the price.

3 out of 5 stars Surprised/disappointed with poor quality of pictures.......2007-02-16

I take a LOT of pictures of my 9 grandchildren and when I needed a new 35mm camera, this seemed ideal. However, I have been very disappointed with this camera's performance.

Outdoor pictures with no flash come out very well, but any photo requiring a flash does not. The center of the photo has some brightness to it, with the outside of the picture almost fading to black.

I have now gone to almost 100% digital shots.

5 out of 5 stars Love the size!.......2006-06-23

I loved the size of this camera when I received it...I just tossed it in my purse and it's ready whenever I catch my two-year-old doing something cute! The picture quality was fine for me. I am slightly disappointed that it takes lithium batteries, but not enough to go to 4 stars.

    3 out of 5 stars Small Camera-average quality prints.......2006-03-04

This little camera has some nice features but really does not take any better pictures than my Fuji which was 1/2 the price.
There does seem to be a lot of difference in print quality depending on the finishing lab.

4 out of 5 stars Fine camera for excellent price!.......2006-01-04

Fine 35 mm camera, simpicity of design; photos turned out beautiful. A camera which is very easy to use.
