Optics and Resolution The DX7440 has a 4-megapixel resolution for 2304 x 1728 images and photo enlargements up to 20 x 30 inches. Other resolution modes include 2304 x 1536 (3:2 aspect ratio), 2048 x 1536 (3MP), 1656 x 1242 (2MP), and 1200 x 900 (1MP). The Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 4x optical zoom lens is also supplemented by a 4x digital zoom, for a 16x total. The DX7440's precision low-light auto-focus system combines rapid phase detection with highly accurate through the lens (TTL) contrast detection to sharply define a subject, even in almost complete darkness. Continuous auto-focus also delivers rapid click-to-capture (0.2 seconds) to precisely freeze action at a desired moment. Selectable focus zones and exposure metering allow exacting control over each scene, while standard and fine JPEG compression settings give users more power over their file sizes and quality.

With a touch of the red-jeweled Share button, you can store up to 200 pictures in an on-camera digital album. I love this camera.......2007-01-04

I am not a camera guru and I HATE to read directions and try to remember ambiguous symbols on cameras that are crucial to set before taking a picture. That's why I love this camera. The purpose for any button you push appears in text on the screen. My pictures also come out great! The software is easy to use. I guess the only flaw I've found is that the digital zoom is a worthless feature. It is too blurry to use.

When I was camera shopping, I did not have Kodak in mind. I was thinking of the bigger players like Sony, Cannon, Nikon, ect but I love this camera!

1- It takes great pictures. A lot of cameras these days are 6 or 7 MP and a 4 MP camera sounds ancient. However, a 4 MP is way good and I actually put my settings to 3.1 MP. I developed it at the store at it look just as good as a 35 mm camera! Also, I can store a lot more pictures at 3.1 MP and am VERY satisfied with the image quality.

2- It's FAST. Takes the picture when you click the button! You do have to wait a few seconds to take another picture (there is a processing time) but I find this much more bearable than the initial lag that some cameras have.

3- It's very user friendly but offers other options for more advanced picture taking. You don't even have to read the manual to use the more advanced options- it's great.

One of the disadvantage is size. I was well aware of this when I bought the camera but I wanted something nice in my hand that I can hold. I now wish I would have gone with a thinner camera so it will fit in my pocket. I am younger (21) and when you're going out to clubs, you're usually not bringing a huge purse so the camera seems kind of bulky. However, I do like the feel of this camera much more than little ones. If I was middle-aged, I'd much rather have this one than the tiny ones. I have no problems with the size other than when I'm going out.

I did tons of research when I bought this camera and have 0 regrets. However, I will make other noteworthy concerns by other reviewers that I took into consideration when purchasing this camera.
1- the wheel is small and you need to push this little button simultaneously while turning. If you have large hands, it might be a problem. I am a small girl, so it works fine for me (not my father). Also, sometimes the wheel can be hard to move if you haven't used it in a long time. It's a delicate wheel, don't force it or it will break.
2- be careful when replacing the batteries. Many people have reported breaking the orange tab meant to put the battery in place when they replaced the battery. As long as you're careful and take your time, it works fine.

Good pictures, camera quality not so good.......2006-11-10

The Camera does take good pictures, and fast not like the cameras where you click and the subject is gone by the time the picture is taken (people with kids know what i am talking about) The bad things, if you take a picture from to far away ( more than 6 feet) and zoom in you get a grainy photo. Also, I would only recommend this to point and click people that arent interested in the best photos. Within a month the little thing that holds the battery in broke off and after about 8 months the dial is almost impossible to turn, seriously leaves welts embedded in your thumbs even if you succed in turning it on. IT would cost more to repair it then actually buy a new camera. I would never buy another one again. If your looking for a camera to last a long time this probably isnt it.

I love this camera! .......2006-11-02

My husband and I bought this camera almost a year ago, and after taking (literally) over two thousand pictures, it still works perfectly. I'll never understand everything it does, so I leave all the buttons on the top alone, but it still takes great pictures. The only cons are: when taking photos indoors (I noticed this while taking pics at my nieces basketball game) they will be dark if taken from a distance. I'm sure there is a setting I could change it to to fix this, but I haven't found it. Also, whenever you take the battery out you have to reset the time and date. That gets annoying after a while. Other than that it's a wonderful camera and is doing a great job of capturing my newborn!

Great product for home and small businesses.......2007-01-20

I have used 3 of these systems at some of my small business customers. This provides a cheap yet reliable source of archiving important materials. It does involve some interaction to establish a good disaster recover plan, but for a small business or individual on a limited budget, it DOES provide a cheap and relatively easy way to establish this. One unit (used for 2 years) went bad and was replaced by a newer version. The software had to be updated adn reconfigured, but it's been going well ever since. Now the failure was not a hardware issue as the unit was dropped several times and was handled a bit rough. All 3 customers love it and continue to use it (one's been using it for 4 years)!

Nice system, but not whisper quiet........2004-07-02

This is a nice system for automated backup of your computer drive. It maintains a complete image copy of your computer's drive so in the case of a disk crash you can copy everything back in one step, with no need to reinstall the operating system or individual applications. You also have the option of removing the backup disk drive from its case and installing it directly into your PC for a replacement. You then would buy a new disk drive to put back in the ABS unit.

I was also interested in the Seagate External Hard Drive. Some comparisons:

--The Seagate comes with a stripped-down version of the CMS backup software. With the ABSPlus you get the full version, a $50 value. It gives you versioning, synchronization, automatic disk formatting to match your computer drive, etc. I didn't need all those features but I figured that with the Seagate version there would be at least one or two missing features I would regret not having.

--The ABSPlus has a power on/off switch like the Seagate. The unit can be mounted vertically, but it does not have a stand for added security like the Seagate.

--I have heard that the Seagate is so quiet you almost can't hear it. The ABSPlus is not that quiet - you hear a moderate fan-like sound when it's turned on. If I were to keep the unit on all the time I wouldn't like having the added noise in the room. In my case, though, I only turn the unit on when I am running a backup. The backup software has a feature that will prompt you on a schedule to back up your drive. So I turn the unit on when I get the prompt, run the backup, then turn the drive off until the next scheduled backup.

--The ABSPlus does not have a button to run the backup like the Seagate, but again, I rely on the backup software to be prompted and to run the backup so I don't find the unit button necessary at all.

--The Seagate supports both USB and Firewire in the same unit. It also might be a slightly better value on a per-gigabyte basis.

Bottom-line: Both units can be used for backup and/or additional storage. Seagate seems to emphasize its use for storage, the ABSPlus emphasizes its use for backup and provides the more robust backup software version.

120 GB Auto Backup System Review.......2004-03-11

I am a computer user with intermediate skills. I started to load the program and I received a message stating that the disc wasn't registerred, and asked for the registration number. I went to the CMS/ABS plus site and checked for problems. I found my problem listed. I called technical support and was given a registration number to insert. I entered the registration number and the proram/systen began installation. (I have Windows 2000 operating system on my computer.) It worked just as stated in the Quick Start Guide. You will need to print the guide and read it to fully understand the operation.

Optional accessories include the AD-100 adapter and the SC-100 slide feeder, both of which improve productivity by allowing you to scan up to 50 images in one batch.
