Leave it to Konica Minolta to meet the niche for a digital-camera user who prefers a wide range optical zoom for superior imaging from objects near and far. This incredible 12x optical zoom delivers a focal range equivalent to a 35-420mm range on a 35mm camera lens. Combined with another 4x digital-zoom magnification, images can be amplified to appear as if they were shot with a 1680mm lens (35mm equivalent). The Z6 employs a high-performance lens system that supports CCDs with 6 million effective pixels for fine details. The optical lens system consists of 13 elements in 10 groups and includes two AD (anomalous dispersion) glass lenses and two aspheric elements, a construction that adds up to sharp, high-quality images. Multi-coating on 14 lens surfaces ensures minimal flaring and ghosting in all zoom ranges. The Z6 can capture still pictures as well as VGA grade video movie images.

The Z6 incorporates Anti Shake technology to assure sharp pictures. Anti-Shake compensates to minimize the effect of camera shake, allowing photographers to shoot with shutter speeds four to eight times longer (2-3 stops) than on cameras without an Anti-Shake function. The Z6 can correct shaking without increasing shutter speed or raising ISO sensitivity, factors that increase image noise. The CCD-shift method doesn't require extra correction lenses like optical anti-shake systems, so the body remains compact and light. The Anti-Shake system is effective in correcting both the fine movement of pressing the shutter-release button and the larger and slower movements of the user's body.

It takes movies in VGA size (640x480) at 30 frames per second for smooth video with sound rivaling TV images. Users can also choose from other movie image sizes. The Anti-Shake function also works with the movie function to give shake-free telephoto movies. The XR (Extended Recording) Movie function lets users record movie clips onto the SD memory

Terriffic Camera.......2007-07-28

This camera is a real marvel. So many possible adjustments. I won't go into it as other reviews have covered it well. This thing also sips batteries. My old Olympus killed them in no time flat. I have used this camera for six months on the same set of batteries and even plug it into my computer without an accessory power pack to upload photos. Anti-shake not as great as hoped for, but that is my only complaint about this camera. Honestly, if you're shooting something that requires the 12X zoom, you really should be using a tripod anyway. Powerful and effective flashCan't beat it for the price and I did a lot of research before buying this camera. I do not regret the purchase. I wanted a camera with a high zoom, lots of manual adjustments rather than just a point and shoot, but also capable of point and shoot for my husband to use with ease. This has become our main use camera for everything.

Nice camera.......2007-06-08

We purchased this camera a year ago to create memories from our family vacation. We played around with it prior to vacation and got familiar with it and the pictures were nice. However, ALL my indoor vacation pictures came out bad and I missed many, many shots trying to figure out how to get the dumb thing to work right. It took wonderful outdoor pictures, but I couldn't for the life of me get the indoor pictures to show up right. The flash was overpowering, but without flash, it was blurry. This year, we purchased a smaller camera that came with a built-in guide. I love my new camera. My Minolta is not going unused, however, because the guide on our new camera is teaching me how to adjust the settings on the minolta correctly so I get better shots. The bulk of the Minolta, however, prevents me from taking it everywhere I go. I use it basically for planned events. The smaller camera is the one that gets thrown in my purse and taken everywhere.
I recommend backup rechargeable batteries for this camera. This thing eats batteries like nobody's business! I am constantly having to replace, replace, replace, and I really don't take very many shots!
I wouldn't recommend this camera to someone who doesn't already understand the various adjustments. Forget the user's manual. Half of the information went right over my head. I'm more of a "see and learn" type than a "read and learn" type. My son took digital imaging and can fuss with the camera a little bit, but still thinks it is complicated for a new user. The pictures, when they're taken correctly, come out awesome. I have one picture that won several photo contests (I got lucky!). It's a monkey behind bars. We also managed to get an awesome shot of an eagle. So this is not a worthless camera at all. It's just really difficult to figure out if you're not already a camera expert, but then again, if you were a camera expert, this may be too elementary for you.

Not worth the money.......2007-05-20

*I took 116 pictures today at a good friends wedding and reception. Less than 20 came out nice. If you want reliable quality pictures, this isn't the camera you should buy.*
I bought this camera December 2005 as a gift for my wife. She wanted it because it has a nice sized screen on the back for taking and viewing the pictures. After using it a couple times however, she decided to keep using the old Kodak digital camera (that still works perfectly after 6 years). This camera is fine if you are taking a picture of a rock on a clear day with the sun behind you. Otherwise, the pictures become a blur. Even with the shutter speed at it's maximum, capturing a photo of a person at even a slow walk is impossible. 12x digital zoom is worthless unless conditions are absolutely perfect, and they are never perfect. And this thing eats batteries like crazy. And pictures always seem to have a yellow tint.
Only reason I gave it two stars is because when it does take a good picture, the quality is nice. But that's rare. Buy something else.

Nice Camera.......2007-04-24

A perfect replacement for any one camera this is not.
It is more cumbersome than a point and shoot.
Its pictures are far less detailed and sharp than a SLR.
White ballence and collor saturation are ho hum.

good long Zoom and anti shake features make for nice additions to a just ok camera.

I bought mine on a great sale at the end of production.
I have enjoyed it but there are others which outshine it in almost every area.
(albeit they are 4x the price I paid)

this CD/MP3 palyer has been working awesome for me! those other reviews were probably written by people who used and abused this thing almost 24/7. i would highly recomend this to those who would'nt be using this every other second of the day, since it might break down to CONSTANT wear and tear. so far i have dropped it, causing the cover to fall off like 4 times, but i just snap it back together, and it works fine! but like any player, it could use improvement, like the play/pause and next/previous buttons are a little slow on response time. but overall, I am satisfied with the performance and features i got out of this for the money, especially the ability for MP3 discs which can hold like 20 times the amount of songs of a regular CD. GREAT FOR A FIRST PLAYER

horrible.......2003-10-23

Before this I had a Sony discman for about 6 years which worked perfectly until eventually it got so old the glue dried out. I replaced it with this coby and have been very disappointed. Within about a 2 weeks the headphones (which kinda hurt) broke. Then about 6 months later the plastic holding the cover down cracked, so now the cover doesn't open and close properly. About 2 weeks after that the screen cracked. After 7 months this cd player was now functioning worse than the sony I'd had for 6 years.

It has great features and seems like a great buy, but it breaks easily. Invest another $5-10 and get a name brand, like sony or philips, that you can use for years.

Not perfect, but good bang for buck........2003-01-07

You won't mistake this for a Sony. It's not terribly pretty, and it feels a little cheap. The controls are not models of clarity, either, and the instructions provided don't cover MP3 browsing in enough depth.

On the other hand, it's the only unit on the market that has MP3, CD and AM/FM in a discman sized unit. And the price is right.

The radio is good, better than the one on my Sony AM/FM discman it replaces. It does a good job of tuning out interference from PCs in my office.

Controls for CD playing are fairly standard: youwon't even need to read the instructions if you've ever used a CD player before.

Ossasionally the unit has trouble recognising a CD-ROM full of MP3s, and it does take about 30 seconds to catalog all the tracks on a CD before it starts playing. If it has problems recognising the CD, open and close the lid and try again.

Controls for MP3 browsing are a little rudimentary. Basically, there is an Album button that walks you through the directories on the CD-ROM, and then you use the search buttons ( < < and >>) to select the track. There is also a random play mode that skips through all the MP3s on the CD-ROM, and this is the play mode I usually use.

I didn't have to do anything special with the MP3 CD-ROM to get it to read it. Both my old backup of my MP3 directory on my PC and a new CD I burned after getting the unit play perfectly. (Maybe it's not a comprehensive test, but so far so good.)

The included headphones are cheap garbage, but this is pretty much what you'd expect for bundled-in headphones. Sound is decent with my Sony ear buds. It's certainly capable of playing the limited range of sound MP3s provide.

Overall, while it's a bit rough in execution, it has more features than units that cost twice as much. And for AM radio with MP3 playback it's the only game in town smaller than a boom box. I am satisfied with mine.

The only personal CD/MP3 player available with AM/FM.......2003-01-04

I have been looking for a personal CD/MP3 player that comes with an AM/FM tuner. This is the only product that I have found on the market. Overall I am happy with it, but it does not have the best audio quality. The sound is a bit flat regardless of source (radio, CD, or MP3). Also, I notice a very slight hiss when playing MP3's.

Good points: CD/MP3 w/ AM/FM, low cost, moderate to good sound

Bad points: CD too sensitive without ESP, slight hiss when playing MP3's

Don't Buy.......2002-12-26

The radio is weak; doesn't pull in any normally strong signals. The sound quality is poor. The bass boost is a joke. Cheap looks and controls. Not worth what I paid.

Finally figured it out.......2006-08-14

Finally figured out how to get around the constant rebooting issue. You shouldn't have to do this but the Camera does give a good picture. Once you open a browser and assuming you can log on and connect the first time, and after you have logged off, don't close the browser or go to another Web page on the same browser. Just minimize it and open another Browser for other Net activity. When you want to connect to the camera again, restore your minimized browser. You should have the Connect screen to sign in with. Have done this process the past few days and have connected everytime. It appears that when you log off from the camera and then go to other websites and then go back to try and log in again is when the reboot issue seems to come up way to often. Had also upgraded to the latest Firmware and that didn't seem seem to make any difference.

It is a little bukier than I expected. A huge problem I had was the battery life: I only took 8 shots before a new pair of Duracells run dead. When the light is right, the picture is quite good.

The binocular is pretty good excellent optics.The digital camera part is the problem.REALLY low quality and that's on the high setting.The image is fuzzy and not only because of shake.Is even worse in low light conditions. Another problem is the battery length, with 2 AAA batteries you can get about 15-20 shots only.If you want to get anyway i would suggest getting lower priced combo it can hardly be worse than the Carson ....
