these will not work in a dvd recorder to record tv. it didn't say on the webpage, but on the back of the discs it states that the discs support recording only at 4x and 8x. my dvd-recorder supports dvd+rw media but to record television 1x recording must be supported.

What can one say about DVD-RWs, other than that they do their job. Store media. I haven't had a problem with their burn speed, reliability, or price, and for that I approve of this product.
NOT for DVD Recorders.......2005-10-01
I have bought these discs for my DVD recorder, and I've encountered that it fails quite a few times with these discs. I called a technical support agent and he said that their recorders aren't the only ones with trouble with these Memorex discs. Several other recorders from other companies had trouble with these discs. I have heard, however, that when run on a computer, they have no problems at all. So, if you're using them for a computer, by all means, use them. But if you're using a DVD Recorder, do not, I repeat, DO NOT use them (although they do not fail ALL the time). Varying quality.......2004-11-05
My experience is that the quality of this Memorex +RW media varies. I have perhaps burned about 80 of these and about 1-2 in every ten runs into problems. In some cases I was able to use problem DVD:s if I set the burning to ca 4.5 instead of the default 4.7 but sometimes the media could not be used at all.
I use a NEC ND-1300A and I guess the Plextor mentioned is better so it is probable that with a better burner you may fair better (But the NEC is NOT considered to be a low quality burner!).
In the same time I have also burned about 80 TDK media and not run into any problems at all. Not one single problem with the TDK media.

Jewel Case Included.......2004-07-24
Burned movies at 4x in Plextor PX712A (firmware ver. 1.03)without any problems. A good choice if you are starting out with a new DVD authoring tool - lets you start all over if the main menu and video editing results aren't what you wanted. Otherwise save more with spindle packaging and go with DVD+/-Rs.

As of July 6, 2004, these were the RICOHJPN-W11 DVD+RWs (Note that almost all distributors of DVD and CD recordable blanks, such as Memorex, can and do change their suppliers at any time, so there are no guarantees as to which factory your disks will come from.)
The RICOHJPN-W11 DVD+RWs are high quality media that work well in the NEC ND-2500A burner, and many others as well. You can check whether they are a good choice for your burner by going to cdfreaks dot com or other similar cd/dvd enthusiast sites.

THE ONLY DVD-RW BRAND I USE........2007-08-30
FOR SOME REASON, MEMOREX BRAND I FIND ARE THE BEST. I HAVE USED THE DVD-RW'S OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS. OF COURSE, WHEN YOU RECORD THEM TOO MUCH PICTURE QUALITY STARTS TO BECOME NOTICABLE. IT'S A SHAME, I CAN ONLY FIND THEM ONLINE. RADIOSHACK DOES NOT EVEN CARRY THEM ANYMORE. BE AWARE, JUST BECAUSE IT SAYS DVD-RW, THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. MAKE SURE THE 2X 4.7 IS LISTED ON THE LABEL. SOME SAY, 4X ON THE LABEL, THEY DO NOT WORK ON MY DVD RECORDER. THIS WAS MY FAULT, I DID NOT READ IT CLEARLY. THEY ARE DURABLE AND LAST A LONG TIME. MAKE SURE TO PUT THEM BACK IN THE JEWEL CASE, THEY SCRATCH EASILY. Memorex DVD-RW Media Review.......2006-11-10
I am very enthused about being able to purchase your product via the Internet and at a very reasonable price. It's very hard to find the correct media for my recorder at local stores, i.e. Walmart, etc.. Even Best Buy & Circuit City(Memphis, TN) don't seem to carry them. Keep up the good work. I applaud you.

Very unreliable .......... I have used DVD RW and CD RW Memorex disks on multiple computers and DVD recorders. I find that they.....1) don't last....get about 50 re-recordings NOT 1500 2) may crap out on any occasion.......multiple CD RW's with critical material would NOT read on multiple computers.

Just like all other DVD media Memorex offers, this is total junk. I can't believe CompUSA would carry such an inferior product. Yes, the discs worked great for about a year. Then the dye totally disintegrates, after only 10 erases and re-writes. As you can you see, the warranty is only a year so I wasted my money. Memorex should state on the package "Discs will only work for year or after 10 re-writes". What a scumbag company

I find it strange that the Memorex DVD-RW reviews here are favorable, while at the same time the Memorex DVD+RW reviews complain of bad media.
Last year I bought Memorex RAM disk as well as Memorex DVD-RW disks for use with my Toshiba D-KR2. I believe I only had one bad disk out of 10 or so that I used. They lasted over a full year of through dozens and dozens of recordings and eventually degraded, no complaints here and at that time I probably would have given them 4 stars.
However I recently bought a pack of 5 Memorex DVD-RW and only 1 of 5 formated (hence the rating here).
I also recently bought a pack of Fuji RAM disk and the first two I tried did not work and failed several tries at formating. Unfortunately, I bought these at Best Buy which are notarious for their lack of customer service and they refused to accept returns on these.
So, what's going on here? Why are we letting these manufacturers get away with selling products that sometimes work in some machines and fail most of the time in others? Where's the Six Sigma attitude when you need it?

I bought these to back up my data and I'm happy I did. First of all I have never had a Memorex disk (CD or DVD) go bad unless I did something to mess it up. Every one of the pack worked (as do all the DVD-R Memorex disks I also bought).
You can find cheaper DVD-RWs out there, but you usually get what you pay for. I'll always look for the Memorex label in the future.
Nice Set of Coasters.......2003-10-24
I was excited to start using my DVD burner after filming my family reunion, and creating a production to burn. Of the first 5 DVD+RW's that I bought, 4 of them worked with the last one hanging up about 15 minutes into the DVD.
I had another project going so I bought some more of Memorex's DVD+RW's, and out of the 10, 1 worked. The other 9 locked up my computer, or weren't even recognised by my computer as proper media! If you look online, you will see that many people have problems with these DVD's and there are message boards devoted exclusively to this product!
I would not suggest these. However, I have also used Verbatim DVD+RW's extensively with no problems and would highly recommend them instead of Memorex. Apparently there's a reason Memorex is the cheapest DVD on the shelf.
Who Wants to go Back to VHS? Not Me!.......2003-02-28
If you've been using DVD+RW, you know how great the format is. I find that the DVD+Rs are compatible with a whole lot more existing DVD players than the +RWs, but the +RWs are wonderful for everyday use. I use a Philips DVDR985 DVD recorder and even after using the same disks over 10 times, I haven't noticed any problems or had any of my disks go bad.
Good acceptable performance.......2003-01-04
I have used these disks extensively, and have not had any problems that directly relate to the media itself.
This would be a good buy for just about any decent DVD+RW burner.
