The included software is terrible and very difficult to use. I have a great printer and it still was able to mess every sheet up. I could not find any Word-compatible templates for these sheets, so we had to use the included software. Waste of $12.

The software for this product is not user friendly. I spent some time "calibrating" my printer and the result was perfect...on regular printer paper. However, when you printed on their label paper, the result was way off from the template. I, finally, gave up trying to coordinate my printer with their paper and threw the whole thing out.
Misled and Disappointed.......2007-02-18
I purchased this kit because I wanted to put a label on a DVD I made. There was nothing in the accompanying online blurb which indicated that it would work only with Windows. So I, a confirmed Mac man, found that the mounting disk would open, but I could not make it work properly. The stock on which the disc blanks and spines were imprinted seemed very heavy, but the adhesive-backed portion worked OK using the round plastic mounting device in the kit. PhotoShop made me a form that matched the printed position of the labels and I filled it in with my own design. None of the designs provided on the disk of the kit met my needs, and in any event I am not sure that I could have transferred them to PhotoShop.

I had no luck with it..........2007-02-08
The software is hard to use. For example, when browsing styles initially, you only see a small thumbnail, which makes it very hard to pick a style from. I also had problems getting a centered label. I used quite a few sheets of the labels trying to "calibrate" the printing, only to realize it prints it in a different location every time. This may be just an issue with my printer (HP Deskjet 5440), but it is off by up to 1/2 the label most prints. Also, the small tags in the center make the labels look unprofessional.

As usual I jumped into buying something without reading the fine print or these reviews!
I thought I was getting a label maker that was easy, that could "read" the cd and list the songs automatically, after I pick the style. It doesn't. I have to manually type the tracks and information. Also, it is not adapatable to any other paper than their own memorex.

The product is a good value. It performed well and was fairly easy to use. I only wish it would allow importing play lists from iTunes, all text had to be manually input. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product.

The main reason I bought this kit was for the label applicator, the software was secondary. Good thing that I didn't care about how good the software would be, because the software for this is, in a word, deplorable.
It doesn't have support for ANY other label sheets other than the memorex brand, which leaves you stuck with their labels. Its got some nice features in the software, but their poorly implemented. For instance, it can automatically resize an image to fit a CD/DVD, but if you've rotated it before that, the rotation is lost. It has a lot of minor quirks like that, and they add up to an annoyance to use this.
If you get this product, find a better labelling program to go with the label sheets and the applicator.

Will not print on my HP 3210. After a while, the drop-down menus appear blank--trying to save the hard work is impossible! Does not allow me to open ANY of the picture files in my computer to copy images--I have to go through several steps, copy and paste, copy and paste, via a MEMORY STICK!... One star is one too many.

I have a HP932C printer and this is perfect. I am able to import any picture from the internet and put them on the DVDs and then put text or other effects on them. It is perfect for all my backups and they look as good as your printer can print! The lining up is 100% perfect for me. What it shows on screen is exactly what I get. Extremely easy to use! I am now looking for blank labels for this because its so easy and I will never need anything more!

This is a fantastic budget solution to CD labelmaking. For those of you who don't have the cash to buy the new HP laser scribe towers or the Epson printer which prints directly on CD's, this offers an affordable option to CD labeling. I have experienced some locking up while designing labels, however, I was able to limp along and complete the task I was working on. The labels turned out really great, not the most user friendly software in centering and bending text around the shape of the CD, but I was able to get it done and the labels looked professional because I was meticulous while designing.

This software is easy to use. I have been using Memorex CD/DVD Labelmaker and software for about 2yrs.
I use a Lexmark 4 in 1 printer and my CD/DVD labels turn out great.

This software is not that hard to use. I found it easy to use and I got some super results. It might help that I use software all day as an artist though. Ha.

Does the job, a few gripes.......2003-03-22
Good stuff, but there is room for improvement. The software runs incredibly slow on my machine, unlike other programs. The labels will tear unless you detach them with *great* care, a very time-consuming process which I feel is unnecessary. But once the label is on it looks great.

If you've been burning your own CDs but are still labeling them with a permanent marker, you may be in need of the Memorex CD LabelMaker Kit. This kit has everything you need to create professional-looking CDs in a flash.
The Design Express software that ships with the kit makes designing your labels simple and fun, and is both Mac and PC compatible. It features numerous backgrounds and clip art to accompany your design. Learning to use the software can be tricky, though, especially formatting images to fit within the CD label and to look well balanced, so be prepared to spend some time fiddling with the design. The software also allows you to make duplicate labels and perform merges with existing labels. Printing is seamless--all you need to do is feed the CD labels into a laser printer, and your beautifully designed labels come out the other side. The applicator ensures that your labels are perfectly centered each time and are free of wrinkles and air bubbles.

I'll admit the program was a little hard to figure out at first, but through some trial and error and a little experimentation, I found it to be fun and easy. I've made about 20 labels so far, and am getting better at it with each one I make. The labels look very professional, and the applicator centers the labels perfectly (it would be next to impossible to put labels on correctly without an applicator). Well worth the money...my CD's look great, and I'm having a lot of fun using it!

I bought this product a week ago, and returned it today. Bad enough that the software was very difficult to figure out (and I have used Photoshop and others), but it just wouldn't print anything on my Epson printer. I thought I must be doing something wrong, but contacted Memorex: their answer was that they knew of the problem, had already talked to Epson, and suggested that I link to Epson UK and download a new printer driver! As if ! Solution: returned the kit and bought Fellowes Neato CD Labeller kit. It works!

I've been using this product for well over a year and I love it. I am sort of a designer so I use Freehand to do the layout, and the template is just fine. Don't know why everyone is complaining about it, it works great, and since it loads both ways you don't have to worry about screwing it up. The labels that come in the box are folded which sucks but the refills aren't, so they work just like paper. Love it, use it for nearly every CD I make.
The worst computer accessory on the Market.......2000-02-13
This Memorex Labelmaker is a joke. There should be a law against products like this being sold on the open market. It is virtually impossible to use for the average computer fan. The confusion is overwhelming. I note that other reviewers are far more knowledgeable than I am, yet they had similar problems. The print calibration does not work. In trying to align the printer with correction inputs shown on the vertical and horizontal axis form, it does not come close to aligning the printer. The next time I try to align the printer I get the same correction inputs even though I previously changed them considerably. The instructions are totally insufficient - not enough details. Not enough step by step instructions. I am going to have to try another brand.

Don't use on DVDs.......2007-01-04
These labels are great for CDs, but don't use on DVDs. I collect old LP vinyl records and transcript them to CDs for my personal use. The labels are easy to apply. I used the labels on my personal travel DVDs made from videos and that made the DVDs unplayable. If you look on the package, you will see in fine print "Not recommended for DVDs". I wasted lots of labels and DVDs before discovering this. I was able to remove the labels by soaking the DVDs in hot water, scraping, and then using mineral spirits to remove the glue. Takes lots of time and patience. I repeat: Don't use on DVDs! Memorex should remove "DVD" from its product label.
Memorex CD/DVD White Labels Worthless.......2006-01-13
These labels can end up destroying your cd or dvd player, weight shifting causing wabble, and glue comes off into your player and on your disk making them unplayable. You have to use 90% alcohol to get the glue off your disk, and warm the disk with a hair dryer to peel the labels off. The extra weight can burn up your player sooner or later. Need to find a light weight vinyl without the glue problems. Anybody know of any?
Beware of DVDs that don't work.......2005-03-19
I have had a significant problem with these labels on DVDs. Several months after application of the label my DVDs didn't work on any of my DVD players. I finally discovered that removing the labels from the DVDs restored performance. Soaking the DVDs in water helped remove the labels.
Memorex Labels Peel Off After 1-2 Weeks.......2004-06-17
I've purchased Memorex brand labels 2-3 times in the past. Almost without exception, I've found that these labels tend to begin peeling off the CD after 1-2 weeks. Although the NEATO brand labels cost twice as much, they are of much higher quality and do not peel off as easily. I have NEATO labels on CDs that are over 2 years old with no signs of peeling.
Looking For A Good Deal?.......2003-09-01
For the price, these labels are a GREAT deal! I have used up the 100 I have perchased and I'm about to order more. The only problem that you may have with these labels is that the paper is very thin and that anything dark which is on the CD face will show through. If you have written on the CD face with a permanent ink marker, remove it with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol. This will remove all or most of ink so that it will not show through. If the CD face has dark printing on it from the manufacturer, then you're up the creek or you'll have to print a dark colored label to try and cover it. --- All things considered, these labels are good and cheep. If you screwup on printing a label you won't feel too bad throwing it away.
